I started having the same problem a couple of days ago too. I think it is one of the apps that I recently installed from the market (flight view). I did a hard reset (uninstalled the battery while phone is on) and everything was fine for a day or two. Then it started happening again, so I suspected it was that particular app since it was there in "Running Services" despite not starting it. So I just uninstalled it and will see how things go.

Go into settings and make sure all Auto-Sync options for updates and social web sites are not ticked, if they are ticked these run constantly to check status check them manually when you want to, also turn WiFi on and off manually don't leave it on all the time.
Had the same issure. Apparently the problem was 3G/EDGE data transfers. By disabling all data transfer battery life was improved a lot, but then i needed internet frequently so having to turn on and off data transfer wasn't the best idea. Flashed the phone with generic firmware, and so far battery life is decent.
i'm having crappy battery on the latest update 2.0.2.A.0.24
i'm using the rooted version and JIT v2 enabled.
lost 15% in 6 hours last night with the phone not being used at all.
cell standby is killing my battery (57%), but i have good signal strength.
phone idle is at 17%, display 15%, system 5% and acore 3%.
something is going on with the cell standby.
i can't figure out if it's because i'm using google voice or something else.
something else is that my phone is now listing it's model as x10i, when it's an x10a. i know this is because of the generic update firmware. but i wonder if that has something to do with the standby battery drain.

FYI - total battery use must always add up to be 100% - It may appear that the cell standby is using up the most resources.. that may not always be the case. Check your time without signal..
Hmm it seems happen to me too since I tried Jit v2. Will try to revert back to v1. Will report back when I tried it.

Alright, so to update you guys, it has been 2 days since I removed the "culprit" app called flight view and my battery life is back to normal. So, if you all of a sudden see that your battery life is reduced, then go back and check the latest apps you installed. It is probably one of them that is causing the problem. Hope this helps.
I agree with certain apps constantly running in the background draining the battery. One way I found to determine what's doing what, is by using Advanced Task Killer, and periodically checking to see what apps are running(without being opened by myself), then killing all apps, then check back in a minute for the culprits. If it started up again on it's own and uses a lot of resources but I don't use it every day, I disable or uninstall it. When I need it again, I enable or reinstall it.
Also, set advanced task killer to kill all apps on screen off. That will help your standby time. Set apps you need running in background, like messaging, to ignore.
Also, turn down the brightness of you screen, and shorten the screen timeout length. They all can add a few seconds and a few clicks to certain tasks, but I still have 30% battery the mornings after I forget to hook up my charger the night before.

The problem is I don't install new apps after applying Jit v2. And my battery works fine with Jit v1. Well today I tried to remark #dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit. Let's see how the battery performance today. ^_^

Hey can u please explain about that 'line remark' code thingy?
I love xda app on my Xperia X10i phone =D
I've deleted some recent apps and my battery return to normal.
It might be because of apps running in the background. Things like moixer mail and track id is notorious for battery drain issues. Better get them removed via titanium backup

If you updated your X10a into X10i, and you are now experiencing battery or connection problems it could be due to the missing cell broadcast widget called Cell Information only found in the X10a firmware and possible other unknown differences.

How the heck is it possible that while screen-off, my battery usage is between -401 and -495 mA? Is this normal? GSM version btw.
I had an android HD2, it uses average of -3mA
I know this sounds stupid, but have you installed any apps? HTC has said most battery drain issues are due to "bad" apps. Maybe do a nandroid, wipe data, and perform the same test from a stock clean ROM?

Might be an obvious question but do you have a Live Wallpaper enabled?
check your battery use in the settings. That'll help narrow what the cause is. Also keep an eye on your signal strength. Switching between roaming an not roaming takes a toll on the battery. Weaker signals also mean the phone is working harder to keep the signal. You can also go to Applications -> running services to see if anything instslled is keeping the phone awake.

Same exact problem here. My HD2 would use anywhere from 2-6 ma on idle with the screen off. This was running a non-sense ROM of course (CM7 or Vanilla 2.3).
My 3VO is still stock and it idles at anywhere from 40 to 300+ ma. It makes no sense. My HD2 got far better battery life with a much smaller battery.
I think once we get rid of stupid ass sense and get a clean AOSP/CM7 build, things will be much nicer.

Practically, how much is your battery life dropping? Example: 100% to 60% in 2 hours? And what was the phone used for in that duration.
For example, If I charge my CDMA EVO 3D to 100% at 9pm and unplug it and leave it idle overnight, it goes from 100% to 98% by 7am. So, on idle, it drops 2% in 10 hours.
Yes my Prime went from 40% battery life to totally dead when I woke up this morning....... I knew when they finally found a fix for the lockup issue they would screw everyone else over somehow this is last straw I am returning this once and for all.
EDIT: This appears to have been a one time thing I have tested the battery with sleep since this happened this morning and everything appears to be just fine..... also my antutu benchmark scores even went up a little
EDIT: Well nevermind my battery life sucks drains 40% in 2 hours at 25% brightness just browsing the web my Wi-Fi also randomly now disconnects and I have to click in to network settings and all of a sudden it will reconnect. I want 1.11 back or my money back for the Prime.

um you shouldn't b jumping to conclusions, in my experience it is not unusual to have crap battery life after a firmware upgrade, aspecially if you have a lot of apps, it has to rebuild caches and all that, so usualy sorts it self out after a couple of days.
The other thing is we can't see what apps could be causing battery drain as Asus hasn't enabled it yet.

That's not necessarily true, sometimes a broken app, incompatible app, or apps that crashed can keep the processor running. When I first got my galaxy sII the battery drains like crazy. But after a factory reset it was 100 times better. I wouldn't jump straight to conclusion with a one time thing. After all, pics, quad core are still new.

BUT if only 1 thing changed, the OTA update, you can rule that logic out. If he got the OTA update AND changed a bunch of stuff that is possible. As I read it, only change is OTA update and thus, you can start to narrow down the cause.

The system update is not draining the battery life at all, if anything the way the system ha been adjusted to utilize the cores, it should save some battery life. battery drain is caused by an app running in the background, tat is probably not closing properly. Check to see if anything is running in the background, or maybe an app that you recently installed is not working properly. My battery can go a day without needed to be recharged, and this is with heavy gaming/app usage, as well as other prime owners whom have updated. Please try to root out another cause of the problem before just assuming its due to the update.

Yes it did, and mine and hundreds of other owners have not had any battery issue, so I don't see it causing battery issues for some and not others. Have you recently installed any new apps/games? Did you try a fresh reboot? I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just saying check for other possible causes. The speed of the cores have been adjusted somewhat with the new update to help save battery life. Use the link provided a few posts above to see whats running and using the most battery on your device..I bet that's what is killing yuor battery
Well if this is true mine should be off when I get home since i haven't used it since last night. We'll see.
Oddly enough, I had a battery issue yesterday as well - but I have not received OTA .13, my Prime is on 11.1
I left my tablet in my work bag most of the day, in sleep mode. Around 4 PM I go to use it, and it is AMAZINGLY warm/hot, and the battery is dead. I cannot remember what I was using the night before, but something made the processor churn all day, and eventually kill the battery.
I think I did leave it on Performance mode - but can't for the life of me think what could have caused this to happen.
I know - not very helpful as I am not on .13 - but just pointing out yours could have been a fluke.
Charged when I got home last night - and all seems fine today.......

Exactly, this just means that your Prime was *working* constantly, which means that there was an app/game that was running constantly without your knowledge. try a fresh reboot and see if that helps, also, try to find the culprit which is causing your prime to stay active.

You wouldn't be the first one to complain about the sleep mode battery drain on 11.1. I am also quite sure that the .13 version is heavily based on that 11.1 beta.

I use juice defender ultimate since og EVO. Got to say that I notice a difference with it, but not as big as the og. Stats says I get 1.50 times the juice I wouldn't have without it. Idk how accurate that is. Seems random to me.

I rooted stock w/ S-OFF and upgraded to the latest OTA/kernel/firmware yesterday. This is what my battery looks like so far today. Granted, I haven't used my phone a whole lot today.
I'm looking for help trouble shooting why my Atrix is suddenly sucking the battery dead over the period of a few hours. I've had my atrix for almost 2 years now and always had excellent battery life. After some app updates a couple weeks ago my phone started sucking the battery empty in just a few hours. I bought a new OEM battery thinking my battery had just expired, but this made no difference. I've uninstalled the apps and killed the processes for apps that I thought might be to blame, but still the problem remains. The "Battery usage" app shows that "Phone idle" uses the vast majority of the power. Is there some way determine which process is actually using the power, or a way to tell if maybe the processors are not being put to sleep when they should?
Download CPU spy from the play Store and check if the processor is entering deep sleep. it might as well be that the signal is low and the antenna, constantly searching for signal is consuming that battery power. Is the 3g ( and data) enabled?

Thank you very much! I installed CPU Spy Plus. In 2 hours 45 minutes my battery went from 100% to 50%. CPU Spy shows 85.9% of the time is in "Deep Sleep", and the rest of the time is sprinkled between 216MHz and 1000MHz. The back of the phone is slightly warm. So it looks like the CPU's are going to sleep properly, I wonder what else it could be?

Did you try turning that off?
Romanoff lhption
According to my phone, only 12% went to "cell standby", 17% to "display" and 63% to "phone idle". My wifi is always disabled, and I always have 3g and data enabled. I just unchecked the options to use WiFi and GPS for location and I'll see if that makes a difference. If not then I will turn off data and see if that makes a difference.
I'm on the right track! Turning off location services did not make any difference, but disabling data entirely seemed to put the battery drain back to normal, AND the "deep sleep" percentage shown in CPU Spy went well up into the 90%+ range. So now I know the battery drain is caused by some app keeping the CPU from sleeping, and possibly using the data connection a lot. FF though some trial and error, and I am now suspecting the Google Play process. With data and background data enabled, if I kill the Google Play process and add it to the auto-end list, battery drain seems to possibly be back to normal. And the CPU is still spending 90%+ in "Deep Sleep". With Google Play running, the CPU is much more active. After another day or two I'll know for sure if Google Play is the problem. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions so far!
PS-> I see that Google Play Store will remove itself from the auto-end list..
OK now I need help. The problem is definitely google play. When I kill the process my battery usage goes back to normal, however the process keeps coming back to life on its own. Adding it to the auto kill list does nothing, and I was unable to uninstall it. Is there some way to roll back google play store to a previous version, or prevent it from starting itself?
What version of the Play app are you using? Version 4.1.10 came out a few days ago, they say among other things it fixes high battery drain on some devices/systems.
From what I've seen, Play is a kinda "special" app. There is no way to freeze it or kill it permanently. Not sure why.

How can I tell which version of play is installed? My problem started a couple weeks ago right after I installed some updates. I don't remember if Play was one of the apps that was updated. Is there some way to roll Play back to an earlier version?
hi, im having the same problem but not sure what is draining the battery. Using playstore 4.1.6 on Mrom whith SV kernel ver. 45. all services and data off, wifi off full signal bars and the battery only lasts 24 hrs on idle.
cpu spy shows 99% of deep sleep time, il try stopping playstore services and post again.

From what I've seen, Play is a kinda "special" app. There is no way to freeze it or kill it permanently. Not sure why.

Yeah is rooted thanks, i deleted the app playstore service or something like that with titanium backup and the battery drain is less than 1%/hour now . the playstore still works btw no problems until now.
the undervolt on cpu works amazing too.

You're luckier than me. Uninstalling the play store service and rolling the play store back to the old "market" helped a little, but definitely didn't resolve the issue. After that change, my battery drain was about 10%/hr. Every time I think I've resolved it, it quickly reverts back to high battery drain. If I completely disable all data then my battery life goes back to normal. My buddy at work is now having the same problem with his Atrix. I'm wondering if AT&T decided that it's time for us to upgrade our phones and pushed down some changes to make these older phones less desirable to work with, by killing the batteries faster.

not so lucky i must say , got the problem back after a couple of hours. im changing roms/kernels in order to find the best combination. Actually managed to get like a 1% /hour battery drain, with ALL things turned off, il keep testing for like a day or two.
i'm having the same kind of issues as well my atrix...
also my battery meter frequently reads wrong i've tried both the atrix battery fix app which i had setup to automatically run the fix when ever it reached full voltage and the bat meter wasn't reading full i've also tried the some other .zip program i found on XDA with minimal success
i'll be paying attention to this thread to see what comes up
Edit...
Did a complete wipe of my phone and installed neutrino 2.9 EE vice GT or GT+ that I have been running previously
discovered Facebook and juice defender ultimate have permissions to modify battery statistics, so I disabled those permissions (along with multiple others from different apps) and turned juice defender off to see if battery consumption changes
As well I uninstalled Google services via titanium backup, report back in as couple days see if anything changes
Reporting, it seems like the phone cant get in deep sleep mode, tried wipes, new roms and kernels and getting the same problem. Maybe its a hardware related issue
I'm having a similar issue. I've removed play services, and changed radios and kernel. Will check to see if this helps.

Same Problem
I have the same problem. I've read all thread and checked Play Service, yes it looks as if it's his fault.
Tried to delete it with "Root app remove" and titanium backup. No result it's coming back!
Really need help. This is a great phone with unique features (docking station). But before it worked 3 days on a single charge, and now 24 hours!
Google bought Motorola why is it so hard to fix this issue and why it's still working under Android 2.3.6... Give us ICS!
P.s.: System version 4.5.141.MB860.ATT.en.US, Android 2.3.6, Baseband N_01.77.37P
Had Google Play 4.1.6. Today changed on 4.1.10 maybe it'll help.
