So I got my 3VO a few days before launch, and of course there weren't any screen protectors available until launch. Ok, so I didn't look too hard since they were supposed to be in in a couple of days.
Gorilla Glass or not, my old EVO screen was all scratched up. So when it was replaced after I jumped in the pool with it, I was sure to put a screen protector on it this time. I can't do protective cases, they bug me. Screen protector is about all I can stand.
Anyway on my old EVO, I got one from my local Sprint store, and it was perfect. I had no complaints about it. So I was looking forward to them getting the ones in for the 3VO last Friday. The ones they got in were from Sprint. The one I had gotten previously was in a Orangish colored package and said "Professional Screen Guard" on it. The ones from Sprint were $5 more ($15), but it came with three instead of two, and I needed a protector, so I reluctantly shelled out the $15. What a mistake.
The guy at the store put it on. It was just in a generic rectangular shape (Professional Screen Guard one was cut out specifically for the EVO with cutouts for buttons, front camera, proximity sensor etc.). I left and through it back in my pocket without really checking it out much. By that evening, when I got around to playing with the phone, it was all scratched up. You would have thought it was in my pocket with a piece of sandpaper instead of being in my pocket alone like it was. I was very disappointed. I was at a party the next day and was showing people the phone, I had to tear it off because I was embarrassed how bad it looked.
I thought, I paid for these things I had better at least use them until I can find a good one, so I put another one on. I used the supplied bubble removing piece of cardboard and guess what. SCRATCHES everywhere again.
The Sprint employee used a credit card, and that is likely what scratched up the original one. I used the supplied piece of cardboard and it did the same thing.
My review: Sprint 3VO screen protectors JUNK! Do NOT buy.
If anyone comes across the ones that say Professional Screen Guard for the 3VO, please hit me up with a PM.

Yea, I think they should take note from clarivue. I have a nice non looking screen protector on. I feel guilty because my girls 3D has one of those ****ty sprint ones on, and Im the one who put it on for her, while mine looks Like it isn't there. But then again, she didn't want to order them online like I did. Guess the nicest thing I can do is order her some when i make my next order...

Bud, just return them. Same thing happened to me. I went through all three protectors in a day, and returned them the next day. You have thirty days. Say they were crap and you were unsatisfied.
I even keep the little black cloth...
I use the screen protector built into my defender case. But you should try zagg shields. They have a lifetime warranty and are very tough. Difficult to put on sometimes and they are sort of grippy when you're touching them also. Good either way though.

Zaggs are horrible IMO. It's like putting a clear fruit roll-up on your phone =p
Sprint branded screen protectors that were in my Sprint store were also generic rectangles that didn't even cover the whole screen. they are dooky... DO NOT BUY that crap. it won't last.
I used the Sprint screen protector but I used the anti-glare and it is flawless. Not sure what you got but I will check packaging and let you know

So, I bought this slide screen protector last week for two dollars from ebay and I thought it was too good to be true but they are actually great, here is the link if you want it:http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-XtremeGUARD-HTC-MYTOUCH-SLIDE-3G-Screen-Protector-/230487883667?cmd=ViewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35aa25ff93#ht_2384wt_1137 I cant even tell I have it on! make sure you follow the directions!!
i was going to make this same thread whenever i bought mine lol, these screen protectors are perfect, and easy to do, i literally used one hand to do it(i recently got a bad cut on my other hand)
2 dollars is to cheap not to try just bought one now im excited hopefully will work good already got a little scratch on the side of my screen
Ordered one. Thanks!

For sure ordered one. $2 is worth it no matter what. thanks for the post.
Sweet! I've been waiting for BSE to come out with theirs but so much for that. Thanks for sharing.
are these the stupid protectors that tell you to install them with water? I ordered a set of 3 protectors off amazon for 2 bucks because they were the only ones available when the phone first came out and they all ended up in the trash within two days. I have ordered cheap protectors for my G1 and you just have to clean the screen and put the protectors on and it comes out perfect. Also I notice a lot of the new protectors are made of some rubbery stretchy material and not plastic like the ones I am use to.
Why not read the description and FAQ's in the link before you make a judgment. If you don't like it, return for a refund. Yes you use A LITTLE soapy water but as long as you don't drown your slide you should be good. After two weeks, this thing is still looking new .
Just ordered, hope its as good as you say =P
So far so good. There appears to be some slight distortion, I hope that it will clear up as the moisture evaporates and the protector adheres to the screen. Not sure if it is just a mental thing, but screen actually seems to be a bit more precise with this rather than the regular screen protector.

Mine came in today and I usually hate putting these things on but it was pretty painless. Im waiting for all the moisture to dry though. Ill have a better review of it in a few days.
Just wanted to update. The distortion cleared up within a few hours. Now that the bubbles are gone (took a couple days) it is crystal clear. Overall, I am very impressed. It was $2 well spent.

Got mine in today. Everything looked cool until I put it on. That's when I noticed a piece of lint or something stuck just near the right edge. Couldn't get it off for the life of me. Sucks. Gonna order another one. Good thing these are only $2.
I got thr same screen protector and it is just as good as any high dollar one. Worth the $2
This thing is awesome! It really looks nice I am very impressed, for $2 its one of the best investments out there for your phone.
I did have distortion the the first day but it cleared up to be crystal clear. Ordering another for my g/f tonight.
Edit: Just wanted to say that this protector does not leave smudges or finger prints at all. Had a protector on my HD2 and I still had aton of smudges and finger prints even with the protector.

It took about 4 days for mine to arrive. Its coming from Utah so it shouldn't take that long.
Ordered it on a Sunday night and it came in the following Saturday.
They ship it in a regular envelope, so delivery times arent guaranteed.
Just wondering, from what part of the phone to what part does this cover? I mean like, from just above the buttons to the end of the black outline on the phone? or just strictly the parts you touch the screen?
hi guys,
getting my new evo3d on wednesday. Just upgraded from my beloved hd2 which i had for 2 years. She was a beaut. This forum its members and developers were a pure godsend.
However, after seeing this phone on offer for £229 it felt wrong not to buy it. So hopefully you guys will help me get the most out of this new phone as i did out of my old.
cheers.
Indeed, mine should be arriving Thursday from Asda. The wife is getting my Desire.
Step one for me is to go into the clean room at work and apply my screen protector lol
Step two I guess is to charge and get sense setup how I like it
Welcome fellas

howdy mr paul. it was too good a deal to turn down, eh?
regarding the protector i always had murders applying my old ones. I found the best way was in a steamy bathroom clean the screen as best as possible with the cloth and then blow on the screen to remove any residual dirt/dust fragments whilst laying the protector on.
You are right about sense. the amount of times i had to redo it with all the wonderful roms on my old phone.
edit - thanks jay.
Welcome aboard indeed. Coming from those phones you should find everything fairly easy here. Solid guides in the dev roll up sticky to get started.

you should look up a company called ghost armor
polyurethane screen protector, so thin you don't even know it's there.
if you know anything about polyurethane, it's tensile strength, and other applications it is used for... you will see why it is by far the best form of screen protector out there.
thanks sarge.
@cobraboy85 that ghost armour is that the same stuff as the zagg invisible shield? I tried that on my hd2 but i could not fit it properly. If it is more a case and a screen protector then it sounds great.

I've use 2 brands all the time and have no complaints.
First is the more durable skinomi one I used on my EVO4G. http://www.skinomi.com/
That thing could take a serious beating and you can't beat the warranty.
The next is what I have on my phone right now and thats the SGP Steinheil screen protector.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/htc.html
The later was easier to install and a little thinner btw.
I used to use screen protectors religiously for a couple of years but never used one on my Evo 4G nor my 3D. Have never had a scratch on the screen. The screen protectors always seemed to take away from the feel of the phone for me. Just my 2cents, try it without one.
I use the matte ones that a finger-print resistant. However; I just recently removed it because I ordered 4 new ones, and I'm liking the way my screen looks without it. Much nicer.
I always use Martin Fields screen protectors, always found them to be fantastic.
Yes the Asda deal is bloody great!
Im also coming over from a HD2 because of the ASDA deal.
I love the HD2 and how that has evolved over the last 18 months, just hope the EVO 3D will be just as great an investment.
Hopefully with the price drop of the EVO 3D GSM and the flood of new owners, development will really start to boom, who knows may even surpass the CDMA forum
Looks like there are some great devs producing some fantastic ROMS already. In addition, we have ICS potentially on the horizon!!
Happy Days ahead one hopes
Yea EVO 3D us cool phone, I love it, had it for 4 months...
I bought 2 screen protectors for 40$.

no it is not a case, it is a thin film that is applied to your screen. look into it, promise you... best screen protector out there.

You spent $40 on 2 screen protectors? I got 4 glare-resistant, fingerprint-resist, matte screen protectors for $4 with free shipping on eBay. Get your money back, or call the police, because you were robbed.
I was just wondering around and found this: http://www.ghost-armor.com/HTC/717.html
i was actually surprised to see our devices were supported since we dont have otterbox or seidio.
has anyone tried this?
There are a couple references to the product if you search. I wish there was a kiosk in Houston. I would try one if it was installed by someone who has done it dozens of times. I doubt I could get it right on my own and good installation is key to these things looking good.

I have owned Ghost Armor on my old TP2 and my current Dinc.
As far as the back cover goes, I really don't see how much it really protects. Just basically lets you keep the same feel of your phone and look (clear protector) and protects from scratches.
The screen protector, I feel is one of the best available. If you install it correctly you barely know it's there.
As a test I took my Touch Pro 2 and rubbed the screen all over the cement sidewalk, the screen was still the same as when I bought it used. Also makes scratches on your screen disappear. The ghost armor seems to go back to its normal form and it was left almost brand new with faint scratches. I recommend it to anyone.
And, they offer a life time guarantee no matter what. Just pay shipping/install fee.
How do you guys like your Amaze? I'm looking to buy one and switch to t-mobile, as I'm on PagePlus and can get more for the same price.
And as for the price of the "Stick Plastic" It is fairly expensive $20 for the screen, but you can replace it as much as you want. I normally got a new one every 2-3 months just for the heck of it. It doesn't leave your screen with anything sticky either.

Yeah if their put on right they're amazing, nearly invisible.
Worth the money all the way. When you go to sell the phone a lot of the time the main selling point is the screen. Back cases can always be replaced and cases cover up sides.

I was talking about Ghost Armor. They have kiosks too.
A little late on this one, but I would like to say I am happy with my Ghost Armor.
I was in SF and they have a kiosk at the Serramonte Mall. So I happen to be in town with my new Amaze and I first went looking for Zagg because I had great experience with them. But the 2 locations I called didn't have anything available in stock for the Amaze.
So I was walking the mall and saw Ghost Armor. 15 bux for the front screen protector and 5 bux to install. I figure I would let the guy put it on. He put it on and baked the phone for a little bit and it came out looking fantastic. It feels great and I would recommend them. They also say the material is forever warrantied. And as long as you have most of it left, you can bring it to a kiosk and pay 5 bux and they will install a new piece of armor. And I am going to assume that is pending availability of the product.

do they actually "bake" it? i dont like the sound of that lol
They put it in a type of air circulation box, not really baking it, but speeding up the process of evaporating the water they used to apply the protector.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA
it does seem to somewhat "bake" it though. the box circulates air but it also produces a certain amount of warmth, kinda get iffy whenever I have a replacement screen protector applied.
that said, it works far better than zagg (which ive used for all of my previous devices) the only downside is that it produces small visible dents in the screen protector after time, none that inhibit the safety of the device but do take away from the aesthetic of the screen.

Bake was probably the wrong word... They do put it in some sort of box and the phone does come out warm. They do turn the phone off before applying the screen protector. The warmth of the phone from the treatment would be similar how warm a phone gets after some extensive usage.

So my 2 day old Note has a hairline scratch that is only visible with the screen off in the right light. I am told that if I get this screen protector it will more than likely hide the scratch, and obviously prevent new ones. I'm curious to hear if others have this and like it. I have never used a screen protector because I don't like the way they look and feel, but apparently this screen is very easily scratched, despite me only keeping it in my pocket by itself.

Yes it does and it kinda sucks, I always buy BSE skins (Best skins ever) but they only have the international version atm.
Have the Zagg Dry Invisi-Shield installed on mine, front and back protection, and both he dry and wet install shields leave little indented marks when you use the s-pen because they are soft. At first its barely noticeable but the little grooves build up over time. Just something to consider, depending on how much you use the s-pen.

I went to Best Buy and and exchanged the phone for a new one because of the scratch and bought the InvisibleShield. I'm not crazy about the Orange Peel look, but it's better than the scratched screen look.
i have the shield on mine as well........after having the rocket for 5 months and not having a case nor a screen protector i had to get one for the notes awsome screen.
and the S-pen is Great. i use it for texting and everything. the write to text is pretty accurate and fast when you get used to it. my only gripe is that with the Zagg shield the pen does not flow quite as smoothly so it hickups here and there when not applying just the right amount of pressure.
I actually wish that it had the physical home button like the Intl version. I saw some neat tips and tricks -such as disable touch screen -which would be great for movies, etc -especially with children...
I went with the Rearth Ringbo screen cover. Cant comment since I ordered it this AM.

I'll never do the orange peel again.

I actually wish that it had the physical home button like the Intl version. I saw some neat tips and tricks -such as disable touch screen -which would be great for movies, etc -especially with children...
I went with the Rearth Ringbo screen cover. Cant comment since I ordered it this AM.

I was 1 click away from ordering that. I ended up with the SGP because I didn't know which was better. I haven't done screen protector shopping in a while. Is the Rearth better than
SGP?
I just learned after buying the Invisible Shield that even though they offer a lifetime "free" replacement, it costs $4 for them to ship it to you and you have to pay to ship it back. In what world is that free?
I bought the invisible sheild today from bestbuy. Not really liking how it feels "tacky" compared to the slick glass. Something to keep in mind when considering purchasing it.

I bought the Zagg tonight, installed it and thought I had it on perfect! Was all proud of myself. Went to go turn the screen on and all these rainbow colors and weird looking dots all over between the screen and shield! I was so pissed. I think I sprayed too much of their liquid on. I should have just paid Best Buy to install. What a waste of money. $22 down the drain.
bought some screen protectors on Amazon to get here Thursday and then 6x off of eBay. I don't care if I have to replace one a month. I'm not spending $20 anymore on one screen protector.
Zagg has also started making an HD version of there screen protector, this one does not give you the orange peel look like the old ones. Right now i think it is only for the Iphone but give it some time they will probity start making them all like that.
I just finally installed my zagg invisible shield HD on my EVO and am curious about there "Warranty". Had anyone ever had to get another one and why? I bought mine around the end of May and believe I have the old one that supposively covers up the light sensor but mine does not have this problem. Are they quick to send you a new one like otterbox is with there cases?

I bought one around when the phone came out at Best Buy and had their mobile guy install it. He did it flawlessly.
A few weeks later I had put a cut in it somehow when rubbing my shirt on the screen to clean it obsessively. Maybe dirt got between my thumb/the shirt/the screen and I mashed it into the screen protectors - I don't know.
Anyhow, I went to the website and payed the $3 shipping charge and 2 days later I got a new Zagg kit. I took it to Best Buy and was going to pay them money to do install again, but they did it for free. This time different guy and there are two tiny specs on the screen protector, maybe dust under the screen protector. Didn't catch it in the store since it takes 2 days to "cure" correctly.
So the warranty process works great, but now I have to live with these tiny specs on my screen and it drives me completely insane for some reason.. :cyclops:
The new kit came with a return envelope, but you need to slap a stamp (or two?) on it. I sent it back but haven't gotten credit for sending it back yet, so I hope they don't charge my card for the full cost of the screen protector
That's pretty good. I installed it pretty good also there's just 2 finger prints on the inside by the buttons. As long as the screen is flawless I'm happy but I wonder if the prints will come out in the days it needs to "cure" along with a few air bubbles?

I did the same thing a while back for my old phone. Once you register your shield at Zagg's website (which can be done at any time) you have the option of having them send you one then and there. It takes a few days for them to ship you the replacement.
The actual warranty process is pretty straight forward. They put a 15 dollar hold on a debit or credit card and mail you a new one. As long as you mail the old one back they remove the hold from your card. However, they only give you 60 days to send back your old shield, otherwise they keep the 15 dollars.

The finger prints will probably go away. Two days for complete cure, but hopefully you see the fingerprints start to fade soon. The screen will be gummy for a day or two it seems. It gets slicker later on, but always has some texture to it.
So yeah, if you still have fingerprints in a week, you may have issues. The spray solution should do its job, hopefully!
I had to replace one on my EVO 4G because the edges were starting to come up a bit. Process went pretty smoothly, but for some reason the original one that I tried to send back was returned to sender by the [sarcasm]wonderful[/sarcasm] post office. As such, they charged me $15, but when I called and emailed a picture of the returned envelope (with their correct address, as they even noted), they refunded the difference and didn't even ask me to try to return it again.
Sounds good.I took off the screen protector on my otterbox defender and it seems like because the case is so tight to the phone is making the edges of the protector come up. It's still covered up by the case so idc. I just was curious over time if I could land another one and by the great responses in this thread you reassured me I purchased quality merchandise. Thanks everyone.

Mine is doing the same thing with my otterbox. Also where the proximity sensor cutout is.
