Are there any 3D image or video viewers or players available besides using the stock Gallery app?
How hard do you think it would be to write one from scratch?
Is there a standard Android API for this or is it custom stuff that HTC and LG wrote themselves for their own phones?
Does this mean that we won't be able to share 3D images and/or videos with other manufacturer's phones?
Sooo, I take it there's no third party 3D viewing apps (yet)?
I like mVideoPlayer. It will only play native file types though that the stock player would play. But you get swipe to seek, pause on click, auto screen rotation and a lot more. It plays 3d and also can be used to stream videos.
nice, is it free on the market?

Hello, I seen on other devices like HTC its possible to view pictures and videos in the default app, and then just choose and DLNA player instead of.
It seems like one must go trough the AllShare app.
Is there any other way? Settings or start using other Apps as default?
It would also be great if one could send videos playing in the browser to a DLNA device.
I have searched and read guides for handbrake and freemake regarding transcoding for the EVO 3D movies to play on the EVO 3d. My problem is I have tried using a couple different sbs movie files. I will get an end product of movie with video that works with no sound or I have sound with a flashing screen. Any help would be awesome. BTW I followed the guides as to all codec resolution audio etc
Where are the guides located? I've been trying to play 3D movies on it myself
+1 on interest of topic. Would love to have more 3d movies on it.

thnx
Yeah, I know it's possible cause my movies are in stereoscopic format, made for "side by side" non-glasses viewing, but it's frustrating I can't find anywhere online how to view them on my 3VO. So I decided it was finally time to join XDA forums
I know one of y'all can help!
It's remarkably confounding: no preloaded app/player for media! (Watch doesn't count as you can only buy/rent and play from their store.) If I could just open the video player and load the 3D movie file, I'm sure it would work... I'm referring to the built-in video player that only opens [for me] when viewing a 3D video that I've recorded, opened from the Gallery... ;-/
@keen77
I used this guide to get 3D movies transcoded to my EVO 3D:
www [dot] goodandevo [dot] net/2011/06/how-to-make-your-existing-3d-videos-play-nice-with-the-htc-evo-3d.html (sorry as a XDA newb I’m not allowed to post links).
[By the way, this is a great website to stay informed on developments concerning your EVO 3D!]
I only don't recommend using Handbrake (on which the article is based) but rather Freemake Video Converter (see way down the same article). Freemake is WAY superior, both in transcoding performance (quality & speed), ease of use and user interface (which could arguably be called "beautiful"). Use the same settings as the article suggests for Handbrake (including changing the resolution to 960x540) and you should be good to go! I only used this on HD videos 1920x1080 with half side-by-side, but it works perfectly on them.
I only have a problem with the fact that some videos at my disposal have the left and right images swapped the wrong way (which off course has nothing to do with the to mentioned video convertors). Watching this is a very confusing experience!
Does someone know how you can easily swap the left and right images in (half) SBS video's? I tried StereoMovie Maker (stereo [dot] jpn [dot] org/eng/stvmkr/index.html), but it stops saving the "swapped file" halfway through the saving process... and besides that the proces involves 3 transcodings (original->avi [Freemake], avi->swapped-avi [StereoMovie Maker], avi->mp4 [Freemake]) which doesn't do the quality any good and is lengthy.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Flipping the phone over corrects the 3D in those cases.
What do you mean "corrects the 3D," and in what cases? Sorry don't follow
Go into the Themes & Apps section for the Evo 3D and loom at the posts stickied. One talks about 3D movies.

I did one up in handbrake today. It was a 1080p side by side. I just dropped the frame down to qhd and then ran it with my normal 3vo settings. It dropped the file size down from 4.7 giggers to just over half a gig.
I have a video folder on my root that I move them info that shows up in the stock gallery app. When playing you need to hit menu and choose view in 3d.
It's a crap movie, but it was the only of the type I could find lol

Does anyone know a good app that can stream 3d movies on your pc to your evo 3d?? I can't seem to find one. I've tried plex, skifta, gmote and it wont play in 3d. I think the only player that can allow you to play in 3d is the Evo's native video player which gives you the option to 3d. Otherwise you have to place the 3d movie on your phones SD card which takes up a lot of space. So I am trying to store it on my computer and just stream it through DLNA. If anyone knows that would be great.
Try zumocast. Havent tried it for 3d movies but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

I actually had the same thought and tried zumocast but it just plays the movie sbs. I think it must use a default player that doesn't support stereoscopic.

Have you tried from VLC direct Pro? According to the app, you can stream from phone to pc and vice versa. I emailed them about it, but they have yet to respond. A lot of the movie files I've seen are over 4GB, which is the limit for either android or my HTC evo3d (forgot).
EDIT:
Also, MX Video allows me to play all the 3D videos I've recorded. I prefer this app to the native for movies because it has convenient controls using swipe gestures.
How can I play a 3d video in mx player pro Or any application that can play video with translation
You don't.
You can, but not every 3D video will work with it. The trick is choosing HW and not SW decoder.
I worked for me with a few 3D video's but not the ones I converted myself in Handbrake.

I've tried out handbrake before but I could never get it working. Freemake is a really good free video converter, and it has a bunch of settings, including the ability to save presets (and there's specific options for android, iphone, youtube, etc...)
but back on topic, why would you need to play 3D videos with an aftermarket video player anyway? I've never had a problem with the stock video player, and I've watched Tron, Avatar, and Inception all in 3D (DVD rips from discs I own ) Edit: I get it now, I didn't see you said for translation purposes before. Sorry, I haven't even tried watching 3D video in another video player.
Unrelated note, Inception 3D was the biggest waste of time. Don't bother getting it in 3D if you want to watch it, it's a pointless feature for that movie.
Because an aftermarket player is better. It got features the stock player doesn't have, like it will remember where you left when you stop watching.

Got to agree with that, Inception in 3d wasn't all that, you find yourself scanning the screen looking for the best 3d bit instead of just being wowed by the movie, which isn't half bad.
Avatar, The Smurfs (believe it or not), The final destination (good effect's poor movie), are all decent for 3D, but not too many others, an i'm going from a 47inch LED 3DTV not my phone.
Okay before anyone starts flaming me, I did search, but since the phone is called 3d I was getting a ton of posts that had nothing to do with video formats. I know I have seen some good info but I can't find it now.
I am curious about formats. I have done some reading and am using handbrake to convert videos (they are converting as I type), but I think they are going to play side by side. Know I have figured out that if I use the HTC video player, I can tell it to play in 3D mode, but I like Meridian and am starting to like MX. They both play 3D as I have a few videos that it does play in 3D. Question is how do I get SBS videos to play in 3D on these other players.
A primer in 3d formats would be great.
