A team of devs in the HTC Incredible 2 forum found a way unlock the bootloader via an exploit. I just read an article somebody posted in our development forum. I just wanted to make a thread so more people are aware. It could be something for the devs to look into that could possibly lead to our phones being rooted.

I don't see it hurting our chances. If nothing else it may give un an approach and method to try with the E3D.

Could you not even link the thread so we could take a look at what you are talking about?
The hack is done by alpharevx team just google it.
But this didnt help them root they already had temp root through gingerbreak. This gives them full s-off evidently.

Not meaning to disagree... but even if he did all of those things I am not sure if his question would be answered.
Nobody knows unrevoked plans. At least from what I have heard.
There was a tweet stating they planned to work on the TB but I have not heard one word since then. And there was also some little disagreement between TeamAndIRC and unrevoked I believe... but I think they all acted like adults and moved past that moment.
Honestly though, where else is the OP supposed to pose this question? This would be the proper sub-forum if I am not mistaken.
I hope to see unrevoked for the TB.
I dont see why they would get into it, having unrevoked would only make yhe community grow.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I am not knowledgeable of the entire situation... so I will not act like I understand everything and I do not wish to provoke further disagreement. I would like the community to work together and be constructive
The last I heard was that one member of unrevoked did not agree with the root methods being used by TeamAndIRC in their guide. They did not feel they were safe, yet that have been proven otherwise. There are no bricked TBs on record when following TeamAndIRC's root method.
Hopefully the unrevoked team will be able to implement something for the TB like they have in the past for other devices. I know we are all looking forward to it!
I also look forward to an unrevoked rom.

not sure if this was a joke...
unrevoked does not specialize in custom ROMs. they specialize in one-click methods (unrevoked.com)
i was just curious, because when i get the phone i may attempt it. but i do not know how to do it.
Not like they used to, that's for sure. AFAIK HTC hid the flag in a different partition than was previously stored. I know Binary and XB56 tried comparing partitions of a s=off device with a s=on.device and after countless hours, were unsuccessful.
Good luck
There was a thread that accrued a pledge of over $1k for whoever hacks the exploit, but it went nowhere. Can't get the right people the device I guess.

is there anyway we can just use a already s=off 'ed hboot from another amaze on a s=on device?
also, how do you look and compare? what are you looking for?

I would guess that XB or binary may have already thought of that. They were using some program that I can't remember (this is the prob when a dev becomes bigger than the community and pulls his work) that was compared the phones partitions... But there were so many and they weren't consistent so they hit a wall... That's my interpretation of the now removed thread

No trolling intended. Just havin some fun being sarcastic.
So, I just picked up my new EVO 4G LTE, how can I haz root to flash MIUI Jellybean?
This is going to be fun! Looks like some truly legendary devs have made pre-orders!
BTW, to the MODS.. Thanks for opening up a forum for us!
Thanks!

I wonder if the root process will be as simple as the HTC One and One X?
I would think it would be similar, since the phones are so similar.
But what do I know. I'm not even close to being a dev.
dont mean to kill the mood, but this is the dev section guys. lets move the discussion to the general section. lets not give our new moderator a tough time before the phone even launches

I had read the One X had a locked bootloader... is it already cracked open?
I plan on getting this Evo, so hopefully it isn't a couple months before s-off and root is attained again. I would rather not have hindered development this time around.

When did you get your evo. it had root before day 1. A couple of times it got lost, but only to people on new devices and people who couldn't wait for the devs to get a hold of the new Stock ROMs.

Is there any doubt this is the next benchmark phone. The OGEvo is still in my opinion the only SuperPhone. A first of many standards, and the only phone i know you can plug directly into the TV for watching Vids.
I have lived off contract for the last 4 years. Yes i finally used my Upgrade for this phone.
Who is the forum mod anyways?

I would imagine root would be very similar to one x international. Use HTC unlock, fastboot recovery, flash superuser.
I am sure other ways will come as well, but I suspect that will be the first

HTC dev is flash friendly. So is regaw one click program that you can find in the development forum. Lazypanda s-off is the only known program that causes bricked devices....oh and if you don't have a clue what you're doing. Read read read its your best friend

wow thanks man i really didnt think i would get a sincere response here...everyone around here seems a little stuck up and entitled, kinda like the old hero days
of course the best way to not brick is to do your reading, but if you had the epic touch you would know all the reading in the world couldnt save you...no brick warnings in the OP aside, people were bricking just by factory resetting YUCK!!
glad i got the htc evo lte and glad that its harder to bricl, just wish the community here was a little bit more warm ya kno
Haha its probably the side of bed they woke up on. Believe me, this is a great community filled with informative and and helpful individuals. But when you begin to talk about a phone that isn't the LTE (specifically samsung)
People become a bit irritated. Aha or so it seems.. just read a bit cz samsung and HTC are different regarding flashing and techniques on unlocking. Goodluck and enjoy

A question to a question.
What is your end result? What are you aiming to do? Where does your device stand now?
I ask because it makes it easier to answer your question.
Picked up my 4glte today at lunch and by the time i left work i had root, s-off, unlocked bootloader, and recovery. I am more than happy to help where i can.

THIS^^^^^^^^^^
That whole recovery thing on the epic is the reason I despise the Samsung phones and the New kernal and modems every week with no change at all. There's only a few ways for ur phone to get bricked here. Experimental roms/mods (unlikely) or a simple bad flash (not likely either as recovery just says failed and u can flash something else)

I also had my elte rooted and rom'ed within the hour I was looking for some general tips, tricks, best behavior and routines when dealing with the elte to avoid issues...knowing only way to brick is purely poor judgment or possibly a bad download is comforting.
Alllllllll this thread was for was to collect data to compare to other devices which have had issues bricking or getting ruined by easily doing something small or specific
It appears to be deleted.

It's under Original Android Development now, as it should be. Soon, this might be a one-click downgrader from 1.15/1.19 to 1.12, so that everyone can take advantage of the LazyPanda S-OFF exploit.

This is for the development itself, not the BOUNTY thread with a ton of posts that appears to have disappeared without explanation.
It seems over zealous to delete the entire thread. If for some reason it's decided we're not allowed to discuss the subject anymore, just lock the thread.
