[Q] What happened to the 1.15 S-Off bounty thread? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

It appears to be deleted.

Mac_guyver successfully downgraded hboot 1.15 and now mac, closeone, and yarr are refining the process to allow average users to downgrade their phones as well

probably, i don't see it anymore. Last i saw it said 1100 or something. Good to those guys, they deserve it for risking their phones and putting in all the work

It's under Original Android Development now, as it should be. Soon, this might be a one-click downgrader from 1.15/1.19 to 1.12, so that everyone can take advantage of the LazyPanda S-OFF exploit.

This is for the development itself, not the BOUNTY thread with a ton of posts that appears to have disappeared without explanation.
It seems over zealous to delete the entire thread. If for some reason it's decided we're not allowed to discuss the subject anymore, just lock the thread.

Yeah it shows invalid thread which happens when thread is deleted or moved. If you were trying to show us up or something (not saying you were) that's a big fail lol

The thread I think you are looking for is in original development. Its a sticky so you need to select stickies if your in the xda app

He's asking about the bounty thread by kaominerva so why do you people insist on linking the development thread lol

Then the one shizume linked is correct. The thread was renamed after s-off was achevied.
But I guess it was deleted. It must have gotten real good.

It's the bounty thread I'm looking for, not the development thread. Bounty bounty bounty bounty bounty.
Anyway it seems to have magically reappeared!

Could this help Devs root?

A team of devs in the HTC Incredible 2 forum found a way unlock the bootloader via an exploit. I just read an article somebody posted in our development forum. I just wanted to make a thread so more people are aware. It could be something for the devs to look into that could possibly lead to our phones being rooted.

I don't see it hurting our chances. If nothing else it may give un an approach and method to try with the E3D.

The hack is done by alpharevx team just google it.
But this didnt help them root they already had temp root through gingerbreak. This gives them full s-off evidently.

Sensation given S-Off by AlphaRev, Evo 3D coming soon? (Confirmed yes)

Just watch it. Seems legit to me.
Woot! Good news for us, I hope.
Also, pop a thanks on XHaus's post Here. I'm just spreading the news!
Edit: Figured out how to embed.
Here's some more info from the guy who posted the YT video:

Shooter = Evo 3D for those of us who don't pay attention. So that's confirmation that we will be getting it.
As for the video itself, it apparently wasn't supposed to be set to be viewed publicly.
ieftm said:
It was meant to be uploaded. Just not stuck on 'public'. Hence "leak", as in, prematurely outed.
And yes, I uploaded it. No doubt about that. So while unfortunate that it got out before we were ready to do so, meh. it happened. I'm already over it.

Also, here's a LINK to the download for the boot animation in the video, in case you're a portal fan. (It's just the boot ANIMATION.)
As for all the whining in the thread: These guys are volunteers, they do their work for free. They aren't done yet, and we weren't even supposed to know about it for a while. Don't get your panties in a twist just cause they have it and you don't. If you're going to return your phone cause you can't has S-Off, go ahead. We don't mind. Really.
We'll know when it's finished and available. Word spreads here like a wildfire, so just wait... Patience is a virtue! And stuff. Give em a high five and a hug for all their hard work.
If you feel like throwing them a monetary bone, HERE is a link to their web page. The donate link is half way down on the right side.
Let's hope this is true

Do you skip threads that mention 1.5?

I have found myself skipping over threads that have 1.5 in the title, pop up dialog, or short thread summary in the app.
Does any one else do this? Wish it wasn't this way.
I am open to helping people but all the 1.5 questions are getting annoying

Deleted. Because my response was just as useful as the threads mentioned...
I just got the EVO 3D a few days ago, but as a themer this is in no way my first go around with gaining root access on a phone/and unlocking the bootloader.
When I came into these threads I had no experience with having to use HTC's (Stupid) unlock tool.
but I went to the roll up sticky thread on here found a guide to make sure I knew I was doing...
asked one little question on IRC I didn't see discussed on the threads , and I was done rooting and had flashed MeanROM in Total time: about an hour
I think if people would just learn to try and read and figure things out, instead of posting a thread about every little question and waiting for a reply they'd get done much sooner.
The guide to unlock the 3vo's bootloader was very easy compared to other devices I have used,
Tl;dr: noobs will be noobs.
It's not as easy for some where the HTC unlock doesn't even work. While others should just read the damn instructions and pray it works, it doesn't always work. It worked for me, but on my friends 3D I can't figure out for the life of me why the unlock will not work. I've tried just about everything. He has software version 2.17 which will not accept a 2.08 RUU and everything else I've tried fails on the last command to unlock the phone.

I just ignore any threads with "MIUI" in the title, 1.5 hboot not so much
I'm on 1.5 and actually look for those threads when I'm logged in. But I do see waaayy too many of them for people to be trying to look around.
Unfortunately it seems like many of the useful "stickies" haven't been updated/clarified in a while (imo) and are creating some of the confusion. I've asked in some of those threads for the op to update the links etc (ruu's, Su, recovery, Hboot 1.5, adb/fastboot cmds) and haven't seen a reply.
I ended up creating a thread to help with this until/if the others get updated:
[Guide]My Hboot 1.50 HTC Unlock/recovery/rom/kernel flashing notes.

[Q] how does a dev figure out/find the s=off flag in a htc phone?

i was just curious, because when i get the phone i may attempt it. but i do not know how to do it.
Not like they used to, that's for sure. AFAIK HTC hid the flag in a different partition than was previously stored. I know Binary and XB56 tried comparing partitions of a s=off device with a s=on.device and after countless hours, were unsuccessful.
Good luck
There was a thread that accrued a pledge of over $1k for whoever hacks the exploit, but it went nowhere. Can't get the right people the device I guess.

is there anyway we can just use a already s=off 'ed hboot from another amaze on a s=on device?
also, how do you look and compare? what are you looking for?

I would guess that XB or binary may have already thought of that. They were using some program that I can't remember (this is the prob when a dev becomes bigger than the community and pulls his work) that was compared the phones partitions... But there were so many and they weren't consistent so they hit a wall... That's my interpretation of the now removed thread

any work arounds?
1. Yes, you can still flash ROMs even on the new hboot.
2. All you have to do is use RegawMOD to do everything, and then flash a couple of SU zips.
3. Questions belong in the Q&A section.
In the future, never accept an ota

Good advice!
...not as much fun, though.
EDIT: Just to clarify, the previous doesn't mean that I can't wait, it just means that I feel the frustration of others who had bad things happen (like OTA updates!). We'll get it, though. Still a new phone, still lots of fun stuff to play with....and at least we have the HTC Unlock available, and can still get root.

Well.. Someone complained and blamed HTC for their own mistake, and then someone else decided they wanted to purposely break their phone in order to get a new one.
So it's probably as silly as it looks.

That's not exactly true after this last update. If I recall correctly, if you HTC Unlock on 1.22, you can't flash kernels through recovery, you have to do it another way. I think there were other things we couldn't do anymore as well.
