Hello, i want to install the newly baked roms on the Android Development, but they require a full wipe etc.
What are the ways of backing up my sms, contacts, apps etc.
I know titanium backup can be used for apps, but is there anything that can do all 3 ?
I came from the Milestone, and i used nandroid backup system.
So thanks in advance
I believe tianium is the best, it actually does apps + data Have a look on the market for one that does all three but i doubt it also, i use launcher pro and you can back the settings up for that through launcher pro if you want but widgets wont work but you can just screen shot all your homescreen and copy it
Mybackup / pro
you can get the 30 days trial from their website.
http://www.rerware.com/Android/
it's easy & simple to use !
Right thanks guys !

Is there any way to back up all the widgets on homescreen for new rom? I used titanium backup and launcher pro backup but they do not backup the widgets.
there is no other way.. you'll have to re-add the widget to your homescreen.
I use MyBackup Pro and it does backup the icons/widgets from my homescreen. I'm starting to play around with Titanium Backup and noticed that this is one feature that it may not have, per the OP. If you want the ultimate backup solution for it may make sense to use both Ti Backup(Data and Systems) and MyBackup (for the Homescreen).
Note: I've been using MyBackup Pro since I bought my EVO in June and it works excellent for backup / restore when changing ROM's. My reason for trying Titanium is that it has so many more features and seems to be the Backup program of choice here on XDA for seemingly good reason.
I posted this in a thread in the Themes section, but didn't get any bite, so I thought I would move it here.
Forgive me as I am new to all of this. I am running BAMF Remix 1.6.3. I have Titanium Backup Pro. I have been following this thread for sometime now and like the different options people have on their phones. After I put a lot of work into customizing my home/lock screen using the widget app's, launcher app's, etc...If I were to flash to a new ROM or flash BAMF 2.x, is there a way via Titanium Pro (something else) to get those same home/lock screens back quickly?
After my other flashes, I have used TB to restore my app & app data, but have been nervous about restoring system data, etc. b/c I don't know if I am restoring something old over something new.
Any help on this?
try it, just back up your rom in recovery first in case it doesn't work
usually a bad idea to restore system data. youre not really going to be able to instantly restore your homescreen widgets, etc. when you create a widget its creates a sort of unique ID for that widget. when you wipe and flash a new ROM, that ID doesnt exist, so the widgets are gone. and even in launcherpro when you restore your home screen, all the widgets just show "error loading." so unless someone else has found a solution, (ive never heard of one) you pretty much just have to bite the bullet and manually recreate all of your widgets whenever you wipe.
Im glad this topic was raised and I can live with re-adding widgets BUT
what I hate is having to log back into EVERY SINGLE app, Facebook, Pandora, Groupon etc etc
How can I safely get all that data back after flashing a new rom? I do have titanium pro, but the one time I used it, it was a nightmare restored crap that wasn't included in the ROM like the WidgetPicker app and caused all kinds of problems
You can load App+Data or Data for the apps from TB

Yea just use the batch restore apps + Data. But don't do system data, that never works good.
I back up HTC Sense Home each time and my home screens come out just like I left it, but you do have to re-add Widgets.
Can't remember exact name but it's there in Titanium.

For further education: restoring apps + data restores the applications and settings from apps that you have installed from the market, Amazon, etc. The data & settings are not ROM specific, so they restore well.
Restoring system data has you restoring ROM-related data & settings. Often things are different from ROM to ROM, so trying to restore from 1 to another causes problems. The only system setting I have ever restored was the data for "Bluetooth Pairings", which seemed to work o.k., but since pairing is simple enough, I don't do that either.
Either way, most times that you switch ROMs you will have to redo widgets, even from something like Beautiful Widgets or Widget Locker. Even though you back up those apps & their data, the widgets hook into the ROMs at the system level enough that they don't survive a restore anyway.

That is true for Android widgets with launcher pro, but you can successfully restore any of the launcher pro widgets you use with no problems.
Hi!
Any way of having my Galaxy Nexus automatically start downloading my favorite apps from Market when I format my phone.
I have millions of apps and it takes always so much time to download them again. For example If I change rom its annoying to start installing all the needed apps when I t could easily just load the basic software automatically.
Somehow last time my phone did download BeautifulWidgets without my "permission" from the market and installed it.
So any possibilities to make this happen?

That is google backup feature. It will download all your preveously purchased app only.
I would rather suggest to buy Titanium Backup Pro. Damn good for app backup and restore in batch mode. Good filtering . You can even set the location of your app .
You need root permission to run it. But trust me it will be worth purchase...
You can always use MyBackup Root...is free is efficient and can also backup sms mms system settings etc

Seconded, I am a frequent flasher running a nightly ROM, so I live by Titanium Backup. The paid version allows for an express, confirmation free batch restore. Just set it, leave it, then once it's finished, reboot it.

I agree, Titanium Backup is the finest of its league. It'll cost you some money, but its totally worth it.
If you just want the apps use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314443
It also has a ton of other features, but it makes a flashable backup of all your apps then just flash the zip file and all your apps are back. It's much quicker than titanium but i use titanium for data. Best of all its free...
Hello and sorry for taking so much to answer but my Firefox lost all my tabs and I didn't remember this after that.
Okkay so thanks for the answer but those are backup software :/
I know how to backup but I would like it to work different.
Like for instance now I just got back to stock because wanted to see if I can update to 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 but sadly wasn't able.
So now I am probably gonna go to AOKP and after that is installed I need to once again install that big list of apps and its really slow downloading the one at a time from the market.
So I would like to have some way that I have list of programs I want and a software would get the apps from the market for me so I don't really need to do anything.

What you're wanting is much more time consuming and less efficient than the suggestions posted here. Your data wouldn't be restored, so you would have to setup the apps again anyway. You'd have to wait for the market to try to download all of those apps at once, which takes longer than restoring. And there are already apps out there that do what you want to do, the apps just aren't redownloaded from the market. Titanium Backup has other features too, and really helps with clean installs.
I don't think that what you want exists, aside from the built in Google backup. If you'd rather keep doing what you're doing instead of using backup/restore software, it's your time to waste.
Jumping from rom to rom the app reinstall process becomes something of a pain.
What do you guys do to speed this up?

There is an option that google can sync all your apps. But I don't use that.
I use titanium backup PRO (non pro version does not work too well in this case). It's not about installing needed apps faster but also I keep my data, for example highscores

You have to be a little careful in ny experience in reinstalling all apps and data using titanium. After a few reinstalls you can get issues with memory / slowing, particularly if you are changing between different versions android.
I use Mybackup Pro to back up call logs and sms. I use app2zip to save a cwm flashable version of all my apps (to save reinstalling them all). I use a titanium backup to restore the datavto a few critical apps. That way, the installs are as clean as possible.

Do you keep highscores or game achievements that way? I play some games where I really don't want to loose my progress, unlocked content ...
I use GO BACKUP it works great for getting my applications and data back. Had no problems at all with it.
Go with titanium back up pro. Only back up user apps and user app data. Otherwise you'll have issues.
To the poster that warned you about being careful restoring apps don't listen. You won't have any problems if you restore user apps and data, only system apps and data will cause issues. I have yet to experience any issues restoring user apps and data and I've switched roms, switched android versions (gb to ics) switched devices (multiple times) and have never had issue restoring user apps and data
And why you want the pro paid version is it has a batch operation. If you don't have the pro version you have to sit there and press "install" for each app it restores with the pro version its automatic so no need to confirm every time a app is restored

thanks guys for the useful advice! although i think ill try the free app2zip before paying for ti pro key.
So I am going from a rooted 4.3 S3 to a rooted 4.3 S4. I used Titanium Backup pro, but when I restore on the S4 I get flooded with process errors. The apps and data are there, just lots of process errors every 5 seconds.
They are both stock ROMS.
Is there a way to bring the apps/data over to the S4 from the S3 easily???
Thanks in advance!

More info
Here is some more info about my issue.
So I am not worried about CONTACTS, PICTURES OR VIDEOS
What I am interested in is bringing over all of my APPS and their SETTINGS.
I use APEX for my home-screen etc, so when I bring the app over to the S4 I would like to bring over the app settings.
Titanium Backup will backup all of a phones setting, apps, etc... but can I use this to transfer to a new phone? (S3 to S4)?
thoughts???:good:

I think you'd be better served to simply bite the bullet and reinstall your apps from the Play Store and start from scratch.
This is probably possible, but will almost definitely cause issues. Besides, if it takes you more than an hour to get all your apps installed on your new phone you got too many apps lol. I know it can suck with losing data inside of some apps, but any worthwhile one has proper individual migration methods usually through Google Play Services or some other cloud server.
