[Q] Battery Life on J's rom - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been flashing roms for a while but I have stuck to Wolf's rom for the past month or so and I'm thinking about going back to J's Cyanogen but I was wondering what is the battery life like now on this rom as it was pretty poor the last time I tried it.

You probably had the deep sleep issue on your phone. which there is a thread on it if you give it a search.
I have great battery life when I use it.

Battery drains after the kaosfroyo v38 update

Is anyone else having the same problem as mine? how canI solve this?
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Anybody else with this issue? Just upgraded to v 38 today and battery drain is severe.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Yeah dude, I have the same problem too. I thought it was just me.
Ya I'm burning though a 3500mhA battery in under 6 hours.
the android OS process is taking over 60% of the battery atm, not really sure whats up with that.
Good to know I'm not alone.
I had been running an older version for a while... v 32. Hadn't had a chance to upgrade lately. Performance of v 38 is dramatically better than what I was used to....but the battery is killing me.
I did a complete wipe before the install. Does anybody know if this is going to be addressed soon in v39 or should we drop down to v 37?

Flash CFS v6 and that should clear it up...
Is anyone not having a battery problem with v38?
Its sucking bad man it barely lasts three hours with little to no activity
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
KaosFroyo v38 has the CFS v6 kernel as part of the update.

Also, fwiw, I've been having battery issues ever since I rooted my phone. it doesn't matter what ROM I choose, both Kaos & NonSik Froyo's have been rough on my battery. I even have Collins battery tweak running and that hasn't helped much. I figure its just part of having the luxury of being rooted and running great ROM's !!
Sent from my NonsenSIKal Froyo 10.8.1 using XDA App
I haven't had any battery problems since I rooted, in fact my battery life has gotten better thanks to the more efficent battery management of froyo, and the fabulous AutoKiller.
On KaosFroyo v37 with AutoKiller set to Strict, my phone would last all day and I use it as my MP3 Player for at least an hour everyday.
I am using the Seidio Innocell 1750 mAh Battery for HTC so that's also probably helping a little.
I was just looking at those same batteries online. Are they the same size as the stock batteries? I can't tell from the picture on the website.

Yes they are.
The only battery issues ive encountered dont seem to be ROM related
live wallpaper and bluetooth are the top 2 on my list of battery drainers\
KF38 works just fine here

Hello, newbie rooter here. Where about can i get this?
as someone said earlier flash CFS v6 for v38, i am running v38 with minimal use i get over 48 hours of life, heavy use i get 15 hours or so. To get CFS v6 just google it
(i consider heavy streaming pandora, playing games, surfing the net ect)
Don't just google it... search the development forum for it. It's made by Conap and there's a v8 out already that'll probably be better.
I'm on v8 with a slightly modified Floyo ROM and I could probably idle my phone for over 100 hours.
Upgrading has helped my battery as well. I am running KayosFroyo v38.

I may be wrong but I believe the kernel effects battery life more so than the rom itself. I haves had great success with s0niqu3's categorically worthless kernel. As development has stopped on this, I have recently moved to overstock with good life as well. Can't speak of the others as I have not test drove them much. Just my .02...

get the trigger 3.0 or bi-winning v2 both give very good battery life Both are awesome roms as well

Ok running that now now I need a good kernel an not overstock I have home button issue were I can't her into multitask menu it just go straight to home screen
Bi-winning, I get about 16 hours with normal use.
Do you need to Calibrate the battery after a kernel change or only when you change to a new rom?
it is recommended that you recalibrate by some authors. but after flashing bi winning my battery seemed to perform normally. however I did recalibrate and did not find any significant difference

Been using The Beast v1.0 and having amazing results with an overclocked kernel. Full day use. 3 days if I don't touch it. About to flash The Beast Final. Also remember to be fully charged when you're flashing ROMs.

You don't need any opinion but your own
Too subjective otherwise - no shortcuts, you've got to try them for yourself and see what you get.
Can't say about ROM's but I can say that this Ninpho kernel is pissing me off!!!! Moving to CF, damn BLN.
Tnx..
NIMPHO drain battety very fast....

cognition 1.31 so far. i tried all of them. this one is bug free + extremly fast + long lasting
does cognition still give that 'stock' look ?
Best battery life is subjective and based on usage, mostly linked to screen on time and usage of mobile data and wifi as long as you don't have rouge apps keeping the phone awake.
Your best best is to try a few of the roms from the dev section.
Personally I have found villian rom and ninphetamine kernel to be a great stock rom based combo and cm nightly to be good, but there are limitations!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
It's very subjective and I feel it depends more on the apps you have installed really. Having said that, I get really good battery life with villainrom lite + ninphetamine 2.01 kernel (pre-BLN)
Vallian rom +1
what's your screen on time on there?
3 h 14 min till now
Hey guys,
i want to try the litening rom 5 and jeffrey's speed mod kernal combo but am unsure how to do it.
i understand that u flash litening through odin but how do you install the jeffrey kernal?
sorry for being such a noob
Thanks in advance
Flash it through cwm app
I've been using lightning rom v5 since last yesterday, and phone was fully charged over night. However in terms of battery life is has been pretty crap for me. Hardly used the phone today and battery life is down to 43 percent already. Only made a few txts and received a couple of calls. Gonna be trying villianrom and cognition over the next few days. Hopefully I see a big difference.

Could you be any less specific?? There's a difference between battery life as in how long can a fully charged battery last, and how many years can you use a battery before it's trash. And the OP and you are clearly talking about a different "battery life".
The OP just wants to last longer with one charge cycle and flashing a ROM has no affect whatsoever on that duration. It will (or could) however affect the total life of your battery, because battery stats are wiped and the battery needs to "re-learn" itself. But that is like 1 month shorter on a total life of 4 years.....scary Like we will walk around with our S2's for 4 years
Speedmod kernal seems the best for me. T22

Why all rom has the same battery life?

As the title says!
I always get the same battery life on any rom's flashed i even do calibrations.
Now don't get me wrong im not complaining or anything its just that before i could see the battery life changes in each rom ?
Can a battery get over used (old) ?
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Lipol batteries loose charge capacity eventually after like 10000 charge cycles or something. Only poorly coded/alpha roms will have a serious effect on your battery life hope this helps

I had it for 2 years almost now but im quite sure i didnt hit the 1k charge cycle but poorly coded rom could have effect on battery life?
I mean some rom's advertise as better battery life and such but i never find a difference :O

I was just teasing buddy
& getting to the point, we can add some battery tweaks to a custom rom than the stock rom. But we have to keep in mind that the less battery consuming means less performance. For instance, we can reduce wifi scan interval, so the battery life will be somewhat tweaked. But alas! Then users will complain that there is a issue with wifi, network finding time is very slow in this rom, etc, etc.
So the conclusion is, if you need a rom to be good or perfect, we'll need everything to be balanced. So everyone should be happy. So the battery life maybe same in every rom ( depending on usage) .

every latest ROM will give you almost the same battery backup, the difference could only be upto 3-5% so, in my opinion, you can use any ROM but you should be smart enough to use your phone properly, If you are gaming all the time, then your battery won't last more than a few hrs..
I would recommend hephappy's prereleases, with data and sync only through 2G and light use - reduced backlight, couple of SMS, few calls, short web browsing (check twitter, find some public transport connection,...) - i got nearly three days of battery life.
But when you are on 3G, heavily browsing or playing games all the time you can't expect any rom to last more than day (to be more specific from morning to evening).

True I have same battery drain (~2% per night) on all ROMs... people with lots of apps or data on at all times should NEVER give an opinion on battery life... you may get a signal from an app, randomly, and cause system to be totally random on battery...
