Anyone know how to get the new facebook update installed on the Flyer?
Andrew
nobody?
Why can I not uninstall the facebook app from the tablet, nor find the facebook app on marketplace? This is one of those pre-installed things that are locked down? Thus will it only get updates via htc?

Everything that is pre-installed on the ROM is protected from being uninstalled. Only way around this is with root, which has not yet been achieved for this device.
As far as why the Facebook app is not in the Market, the permissions on the app include reading phone state and access to SMS/MMS. For the WiFi-only version of the Flyer, it appears that any apps that require permissions related to phone functions are not listed (since the tablet does not have those features).
Doesn't help you, but seeing the same issue on a 3G Flyer based in the UK.
Facebook v1.5.4 is installed on my Flyer (not sure if this was pre-installed, or done by linking my Flyer to the same Google account as my DHD). No opportunity to upgrade it however to 1.6 as it's not listed in the Market.
No way to install the Facebook standalone app
Check out this HTC's Flyer FAQ.
------
"What’s the difference between Facebook app and Facebook for HTC Sense?"
Facebook for HTC Sense is not a standalone app. It is integrated in People, Friend Stream, Gallery, and Calendar to give you up-to-date information about your Facebook contacts (their status updates, shared links, and photos) in these apps.
The Facebook app is a standalone app. Use this app to do most of the things that you would do when you’re using your computer’s web browser to access your Facebook account, such as adding a friend and sending Facebook messages.
The two do not share the same login credentials. Signing in to Facebook for HTC Sense does not sign you in to the Facebook app and vice versa. If you want to use the same Facebook account for both, you’ll have to sign in to both using the same login credentials.
Note: If you have more than one Facebook account, you may sign in to the Facebook app using your second account, since the Facebook app does not share the same login credentials as Facebook for HTC Sense.
-----
Since HTC Flyer/Evo View's Facebook app is integrated in People, Friend Stream, Gallery, and Calendar, I don't think there's a way to install Facebook standalone app separately.

Hi guys,
My unlocked unrooted Hero has been fine but since yesterday the HTC mail programme is not updating folders from my gmail account as it should. It is set to check every 10 mins but I can see it's been hours or overnight in some cases and no update has taken place. It manually refreshes ok but anyone know why it would sometimes stop doing it automatically? This is a bit worrying as email is important for work. Oh, and I'm using an always on wi-fi connection not mobile data.
Yeah. Dont kill the mail app with a task manager
I wondered that too once.
Thanks for that - seems to work. Strangely google mail app also opens opens up with the htc mail app. Can i shut that down? What is the relationship between the htc mail and google mail app - does the htc app use google mail?? As far as I can tell its impossible to remove google mail app to simplify things. Any thoughts appreciated!
the google mail app runs all the time as it is a push mail client. That and it'snot open source and is built in to the operating system.
seems a bit of a funny way to do it if you have a google mail account, why not just sign in and use the google mail app to get your gmail...thats what it's there for!
or is this a second gmail account?

I know I could do that. However the HTC mail allows me to use the widget and the icon on the front screen shows the number of new emails. I thought as I'd bought a new phone why not take advantage of it but seems like it complicates things. No big deal though and thanks for your input!
Just wondering why there is a "Facebook for HTC Sense" on my View that I cannot find in the Apps drawer. It is in my list of accounts to sync, but I cannot find a way to open it. It works with the Friend Stream widget though.
So if I want a regular FB app, do I need to DL the other one from the market?
Hi, this is true. The Facebook for HTC Sense just takes care of the Friend Stream Widget and your Facebook contacts. If you want to run the regular app, you've to download it from the Market, as you supposed already.
I've seen tutorials explaining how to use mobile facebook from a web browser.
I have also seen a hack where a correctly-named dummy app makes facebook think fb messenger is already installed. I'm not sure if this works with later versions of facebook.
What I've done so far is install an old version of facebook from July 2014, then used titaniumbackup to break the market link. So that it does not come up in my update or update all lists in play store.
The problem with what I'm doing now is that the facebook app periodically restores the market link so that I am not able to forget about my facebook workaround and update my other apps normally.
I wonder if there is a better hack for a rooted android galaxy s2 that keeps facebook messages in the app but does not require any further attention.
There were also third party apps that could show the facebook newsfeed and send messages but I no longer see them in the play store. Is there an app that I could sideload that is recommended to replace the facebook app?
Any help is greatly appreciated on this.
I think the easiest is just using an old version. Facebook 1.9.12 never asks for the update. Message away to your heart's content. It's posted on another xda thread
Hello
Please can someone tell me why my Facebook App no longer syncs with my stock contacts app on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini with Android 4.4.2. The app used to sync. How, I find that there's no possiblity of syncing Facebook contacts at all. Also, I find that various other apps such as Twitter no longer sync with my contacts.
Have tried replacing the current Facebook from Google play with older versions of the app with no luck.
Any advise would be appreciated. thanks.

Thanks for this so that explains my problem. Do you think using an old version of Facebook would mean synching could work?
I'm assuming it's the APIs of their website, not the app, so not likely it would matter which version they are using. I was reading about this the other day and another app said that if your contacts approve of the app reading their info, the sync works, but they have to approve, it can't do it automatically. I don't use FB so haven't cared enough to investigate more.
Hello,
I wanted to know which email App you use. Because the original one I don't like it and Gmail on quick app is very awful :/
So if you can answer to this it would be great!
I use Gmail. Yeah Gookill is just evil.
Use a cloud based only app like Gmail.
That eliminates malware completely unless you chose to download it.
Gmail is excellent with spam and I have never gotten malware through it except if not mindful of downloaded files.
My Yahoo email got locally wifi hacked once, I don't trust it's encryption now.
Outlook is malware central
Yahoo mail, with Gmail and Yahoo account.
I have no notifications, but I check it anyway, several times a day.
Aquamail, the best.
Nine -> Just get it from Petal Search. If you paid for it on playstore you can add your subscription on the Huawei without issue, you just need to paste the order or something in the app.

Thanks to MicroG settings, now I have notifications too.
Hi, I've been using Spark, I tried also BlueMail but didn't like it at all, what made me convince about Spark is that it syncs also your gmail folders, so everything keeps as if you were using gmail app, also your signatures, contacts an many more features that makes me forget about gmail native app.
It's available in app gallery, good luck!
Another cool app imo -> "Re:Work". https://rework.so/
I was using "Nine" previously so this is their new app and even had promotion for "Nine" users.
It's not available in the app gallery but it can be downloaded.
Dear Nikolay,
We decided to support Huawei users. So we put a link to download the APK (v1.2.27 released in Google Play Store) in the following site. You can download it here.
