Lost Transparent Skin (Sense Launcher) - HTC EVO 3D

Trying to figure out if this is a widespread issue or not. Since doing the OTA updates I have found some graphics bugs in the Sense Launcher.
First, I no longer get the Transparent launcher when you select it from the "Skins" customization menu. You can select it but it appears solid like the old traditional launcher we are used to.
Second, when that Skin is selected I was noticing the Text on the End button (In the dialer) was in the left corner of the button rather than centered. Although this went away when I did a factory reset.
Third, slightly more laggy performance in Sense overall, but nothing major. Just not as smooth as before the OTA. Especially when the Full Screen calendar widget is present.
So far these are the 3 issues I have observed that the OTA messed up.
Is anyone else experiencing these?

So nobody is experiencing any of these things?

I never had a transparent Rosie. From what I read from others, no one has.

None of those issues and I also never had a transparent skin available to me. My phone did not come with the OTA pre-installed and I have since done the updates.

No transparency ever available here either. Sure would be nice...

I believe we were supposed to have transparent rosie but it is not in the final unit. People have asked HTC on their FB page but got no response. There were older vidz of the E3D with transparent rosie, so it did exist at one point.

As minor as it is, i was looking forward to the transparent Rosie. That bottom bar could sure use a makeover....

heh.
The advertisement of htc evo 3d has transparent rosie. i bought it particularly because i had assumed 2.3 / htc sense ui had the transparent bar aswell as other features of the phone, but it is not in here... not sure why it was removed.

Crap on a transparent one, I want to be able to customize it myself, with my own dock png's.

it was never there, even before the OTA..I too thought it was but i got the update so fast that i thought it was the reason it was no longer there...Oh well,we got root so we can make it what ever the hell we want over the next few weeks

[Q] Question About Skins on Thunderbolt

so a few questions about skinning on the thunderbolt, first on my phone it seems that no matter what skin i apply the counter that appears on the message app and email app seem to not get themed, they stay black with a green ring, is this not right...
edit: i know ive seen other devices that it changes to match the chosen theme..but mine just doesnt..im hoping once a custom rom comes i can load that up and all will be well
On the TB the file name of those notification icons may be different. Leading to be the reason why the theme is not theming those icons also. I am not sure if this is the actual reason, just a theory.
im hoping that when some custom roms come out this little thing will be altered, im looking forward to getting the htc hub and htcsense.com in a future rom..and hopefully htc locations

Ics

Okay what is different in ics vs gb for the sense roms? What new features?
Thanks

First I need to say that I am running Cleanrom, but I think a lot of it is what you'll see in stock.
The original, 3-button dock is no longer there. You have a center app drawer button and 4 custom slots. So a 5 button dock. You can actually group apps in a folder and place them onto the dock. Whatever is placed on the dock is your shortcuts for the lock screen. Change them, and they'll change to whatever you have on lockscreen.
I'm not sure if this is new, but the default Sense Clock widget has a shortened down version now. It takes up half the vertical space that the regular one does.
This could be the rom I'm running, but the status bar has some new icons and the fonts look like the roboto font. The drop down menu does have some ICS elements to it as well. It is now black (could be my rom?) and has the new icons in it. You can swipe the notifications closed or click them and load them (that part isn't new). The Quick settings tab has little switches in it instead of check boxes.
When you hold down the home key to go to recent apps, instead of the popup of 8 recent apps, you have the basic ICS recent apps now. It loads up a window with the list of apps and a preview window of the app in the background. You can scroll up and down and swipe to kill the apps.
I can't really see anything else at the moment that is new/different, but I'll let you know if I see something. Hope that helps.
If that is all thats new for ics... It seems stock Rezound with golauncher would be pretty close minus the Bugs...
I might be way off with this guess though, so correct me if I'm wrong guys

I was running stock Rezound with Go Launcher up until last night when I flashed Senseless ICS. Go Launcher may let you mimic some of the ICS functionality, but at the cost of eating additional RAM. Sure, it's not much, but most of us here like a lean device. All the 'little' things ICS does stock (swiping apps to end them, better Google apps, better dialer, better contacts) really add up. It's well worth flashing over to a stock ICS ROM, especially given just how stable they're becoming. The improvement in battery life made it worth it for me; my Rezound no longer chews through 10%+ battery on 4G inside of 10 minutes.

Just one homescreen in Sense?

Is there a mod that would let me just have one homescreen when using Sense as my launcher?
I know I can do it with other launchers like Launcher Pro (which I have used 99% of the time on my OG Evo). I've seen mods/tweaks that let you change the # of homescreens but the minimum I've seen is 3.
I really prefer having just one homescreen and I'd like to see that happen in Sense. I've been poking and searching around but I haven't stumbled on anything yet.

If you press home button again from the main screen to the view with all your screens, you can hold down each and drag it up to the X and remove them.
I feel like such a noob haha. Ok down to one homescreen now, but can I disable the scrolling? It doesn't make sense (lol) to be able to scroll the screen to the same homescreen over and over.

Don't know how/if you can do that.
Mikeys rom has the spinning top mode removed. Isnt there an option in leedroid tweaks to disable it? Havent used sense in a long ass time so i dont remember. There should be other roms with it removed.
leedroid tweeks does not appear to have any settings like this.

MidnightRom 1.2.7
I'm actually on an Evo V with Virgin Mobile, but it's the same phone as the 3D.
It's weird that I'm even trying to do this. I WAS using LauncherPro which has always been my preferred launcher. I'm not sure if it's a problem with this rom when using LP or what, but I've noticed that frequently enough when I would return to the homescreen from an app that there would be a black bar the size of the status bar right underneath the status bar, like blank space. It would stay there until I did something like go to the app drawer and then return home.
It doesn't seem to occur when using Sense, so I'm seeing if I can tweak Sense to my liking.
Same deal for me using LP.
It hasn't been updated since March. Hopefully it hasn't been abandoned.
sudo passwd root
Oh well it's at least good to know it's not just happening to me. I thought maybe there was something off in this rom that might be causing the problem, but looks like it could be an issue with LP if you experience it too.
Try adw. I personally recommend nova or apex though. Lp was my go to when i had a hero. Havent used lp in almost a year now.
Yeah it's a LP bug. Does it real bad if you use the google search widgit. I've tried every launcher out there, and LP is still my favorite. So, hopefully it will get an update.

[Q] JB RUU Update, issues with launchers...

Hello everyone, new guy here.
I hope I'm in the right place. Yesterday after a couple of days debating I went with the RUU path. I updated my HTC One X (att) to JB thinking it was the best way to avoid any issues. Well I must say I'm happy to see improvements with Sense but my issues lay with Launchers. Previously I used Next Launcher (I had very simple backgrounds and themes, I only preferred it for the freedom it gave me with icon and widget placement. Maybe a few other perks). Anyhow, now that I've updated to JB these launchers no longer work properly. I've tried Nova, Next and Go EX. None of them apply completely. One example would be Next, I install a theme, go to settings to apply it and it says "preview cannot be found" (or something like that). It does apply to some degree, I can change the dock icons to the themes design but only a few of them. All in all, it seems as if the theme gets half of it right. I also tried to use Go SMS, and it also wont apply completely.
So I hope this isn't all child's play, other forums chewed me up and said these are toys and lame and all that stuff... If anyone has any ideas or solutions it would be greatly appreciated. As of now it seems as if I am going back to Sense for the time being.
I'm also considering rooting. I really just don't like the phones stock look. So if this is a good solution, let me know.
Thanks, The New Guy.

[Q] Trying to attain CyanogenMod/stock look, w/o flashing a ROM

Hello all,
Longtime lurker, first time poster. I've passively used the forums for a long time, browsing tutorials, exploring apps, and increasing my general android and ROM knowledge. And now I have a problem I've so far been unable to solve. I wasn't sure if this should be posted in General, or in Q&A, but I chose the latter.
I'm a fan of HTC's aesthetics, despite their Sense UI (I'm a control-freak, and Sense allows no control). Up until last week I had a Wildfire S, running CyanogenMod 10.1. I now have a Desire X (yay!), only to find the versions of CyanogenMod available for the Desire X are all missing features that I consider deal breakers (no audio, no video, no audio recording, no video recording, no Bluetooth, and mainly no WiFi).
So now I'm trying to recreate that sweet, sweet Cyanogen feeling using readily available applications, which is where I hope y'all can help me.
This is what I've done/got so far:
Prep (from Recovery):
- Rooted the phone (obviously).
- Flashed CWM Recovery (Philz touch 5)
- Flashed SuperSU
- Flashed ROM Cleaner w/ customized NO-Sense_user.txt to remove as much of the Sense UI and HTC bloatware as possible
Flashed from ROM Cleaner, after cleanup:
- Nova Launcher Prime, replaces Rosie
- Stock Google Calendar, replaces HTC Calendar
- Stock Google Keyboard, replaces HTC Sense Input
- Stock KitKat Email, replaces HTC Mail
- Stock KitKat Gallery, replaces HTC Gallery
- 8sms, replaces HTC Messages
Installed from Nova Launcher:
- Chronus Pro, replaces lockscreen clock
- Clock JB+, replaces HTC World Clock
- exDialer PRO, replaces HTC Dialer + People
- WidgetLocker Lockscreen, replaces HTC Lockscreen
- Lotsa other stuff, unrelated to this post
So basically, I have everything that's visible replaced with either the stock, or close to stock application.
BUT, I'm unhappy with, and looking for a substitute for, two things:
- exDialer. It's an imperfect substitute for the stock phone dialer. I loved the Jelly Bean phone dialer, and I miss it dearly. KitKat phone dialer would also do nicely. Preferably something that has a nice integration with the stock Contacts app, or a similarly good contacts app. I don't actually mind the HTC People app so much, but if I have to give that up for a better phone dialer, I'll do that gladly.
- HTC Sense notification shade. The most major part I'm unhappy with. I really miss the Cyanogen notification shade and status bar. I miss the stock Jelly Bean (4.2+) status bar look (blue color, compact icons, and especially the circular battery meter), and I miss the full black notification shade w/ the power widgets bar. I've installed Power Toggles, which provides a pretty nice widgets bar, except that in order for it to stay at the top of the notification shade I need to keep an icon present in the status bar. I'm kind of a neat-freak w/ my status bar, so I want it as uncluttered as possible, meaning if a notification does appear there I notice it immediately. If need be I can live with the existing Sense notification shade, but I would love for the status bar to be Jelly Bean beautiful again.
Anybody have a solution to those two things (dialer and notification shade)?

I might have a solution for the shade, standby while testing...
My bad, doesn't work. I will share my lead though...
The notification shade code is contained in an app called SystemUI.apk. Turns out it's pretty set in the system. My idea was just to drop it in. It didn't work, and in order to make it work requires the replacement of so many components you might as well flash a new ROM. I have consolation though, it is entirely possible to make a Sense based version that looks like stock(modding resources). I recommend PM'ing xpirt or ckpv5 about this. Sorry I couldn't help

Thanks for trying! I kinda figured that the shade is somehow deeply rooted in the system. Out of all the things I've been looking into replacing, by far the hardest thing to find anything for is the shade. Well, that and the lockscreen I guess (so-called "replacement" lockscreens basically only work on top of the system one, never replacing it).
Would PM-ing those users be considered bad form on this forum, me being a first time user and all?

Haven't been here for long myself, but I don't think they'd mind. You might be able to request the skin in this thread if you don't want to PM them

You may also be able to do it yourself.
First download one of the existing skins in the above thread, then...

Which rom cleaner did u flash? The desire hd v6?
I think Xpirt was making an AOSP theme which has long been stopped (i would continue it but don't really have a lot of time nor patience atm) you're best bet is third party apps and themes.

I used ROM Cleaner v3.6 for HTC One X, running the full NO_Sense options w/ some minor added removals.
There's no Desire X version, but the One X version ran like a charm.

I think I have a solution the 2 problems,
You can take a dialer app from the s2 CM 10 and try that one (kitkat doesn't work)
For the shade you can try to replace some files in systemui.apk with the one from the S2 or S2 plus in the res folder

Was super busy with the holidays and such, so haven't had a chance to look at the suggestions. And since a stable version of SuperSense 5 was released in the meantime I think I'm just gonna stick with that. Ran Rom Cleaner on it, and that's fixed most of my issues. Love it now. Nice dialer/contacts app, nice notification shade. Only the taskbar, but I can live with that..
