How to output your Evo 3d content to your 3d TV - HTC EVO 3D

I have yet to see anyone confirm that the MHL adapter will output 3d to a 3d enabled tv, (since it is said to only support 2d currently in 1.0) and I wanted to check out how well it works. So I began figuring out a way to do it, and while not as simple as hooking up a cable to your phone it works and works quite well.
I have a Mitsubishi 3d tv and it worked well on it, as I am not a 3d tv expert I am not sure how or if it will work on other ones, but I would think it would.
I am using an Xbox 360 to achieve this, however a laptop hooked up to your 3d tv will probably also work.
Video has played in 3d fine across my xbox 360. I first tried using the Windows Media Center and it worked well, but WMC proved to be way to slow for me. Also my pictures would not show up. So I continued experimenting and came up with the way listed below which now displays all my content.
1. Install tversity onto your computer and configure it to run on your Xbox 360 as well as set up a folder to hold your 3d content.
2. Drag all the content you want to see from your phone on the 3d tv into the folder. I simply named a folder 3dcontent so I could easily identify it on the Xbox.
3. Download StereoPhoto Maker I am not sure what XDAs policy is on links but just Google StereoPhoto Maker it is the first result.
4. Open StereoPhoto Maker and then add a photo to it by going to file open stereo image. This will give you a split stereo image from your .mpo file which is what your phone saves them as. Just simply hit s, and a dialog box will come up in which you just hit save. You end up with a bunch of stereoscopic image jpeg's.
5. Access tversity on your Xbox 360 and browse to your pictures folder that holds the stereoscopic 3d photos once you start viewing the pictures simply switch your 3d tv into the left right mode, turn on your glasses, and you should now have your photos in 3d.
If you are having trouble with the videos simply go into tversity under settings then trans coder and set to always trans code.
Hope this helps those of you wanting to watch your 3d content on the big screen.

Great post, I have been courious
I don't have a 3d tv yet but with this phone makes me want to have one. Will the phone stream 2d to a tv as well?? The only info I saw on the HTC site was about 3d video.

There is an even easier way....
I turn on the Media Share option (DLNA Server) on the 3VO and then with my ps3 play back the movies directly off the phone and make sure my TV decodes the 3D video as SBS (Side By Side).
I have a 65" PAnasonic Plasma 3d TV and it did not detect the 3D video automatically when playing it through the PS3 but once I forced my TV's 3D mode to SBS it worked perfectly.
EDIT: This method only works for movies recorded on your Evo 3d not pictures as the PS3 does not recognize the .mpo format.

I just got an new 55" LG 3DTV and it has WiFi builtin. DLNA works great with just the TV and Phone but just like the PS3 it will not do 3d pictures because of the format (.mpo or .jps).

So the phone does actually save 3D images and video.... Has anyone tried using something like TriDef (DDD) to play the 3D files? I'm considering picking one of these up as I got a 3D TV now as its cheaper than an actual 3D camera and quite frankly it would make my adventures look awesomer. Anyone care to upload sample files I could try out?

Googling EVO 3D Images returned bunch of 2D images :/

View your 3D photos

I figured I would share a way I found to view the 3d photos you take with the phone. I have a 3D tv as well as a 3D bluray player and neither of them would recognize the .mpo extension. So after some research I did find a method of displaying my 3D photos from my Evo 3D.
If you have a PS3 and a 3D tv then this solution is for you. First you need to go to the Playstation Store and download Playmemories. It is a free download. Next, you will need to transfer your 3D photos to a usb stick or external hd that is FAT32. Finally, open Playmemories and import from your external device and enjoy. If you though the quality was good on the phone; you have to see your pics on the big screen.
Enjoy!
U can bypass the usb stick step if you just mount the phone on the ps3...

3d video editing software

Looking for a video editor that can edit the 3d video from the evo 3d and keep it in a format that can be uploaded to YouTube.
?
you need any editor that can edit h264 with aac audio within mp4 container
then export as the same, when uploading to youtube just put in the right yt3d keywords
I use Adobe Premiere for mine
The trim software that came with the 3d phone is a great addition. I've used it a lot since shooting with my EVO 3d. It helps to shrink the video's to fit on youtube without needing a wifi connection.
How exactly did you use premier to edit the video? I tried premier it always messed up the format. I think tried the new vegas with 3d support. That would mess up the file as well. tried a few other editing programs with 3d support and none of them even recognize the video as being 3d and try to make it 3d and thus why they all dont do it right.
It always shows up with two views when i try to look at it again on the device, sometimes with four.
I just want to edit together simple clips nothing too crazy.

you don't need 3D editing software, the actual video is 1 file with them side by side, load it in to a 720p project, the video will fit in to that fine, edit as you would normally, then export as 720p too
nothing else to do, it's that simple
Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus HD supports 3D video editing.
I saw this just the other day and the article was in my trash, but here is a link to the article that talks about it and a bunch of other video editors.

ok ive done that already it wont work. The video shows up as two images on the device when I try to watch it. Im trying to edit the video to watch it on my evo 3d. Whenever I upload it to the device directly or to youtube it messes up the 3d and plays with the two pictures and sometimes four side by side.
What export setting are you using besides 720p? Are you able to watch the video on your evo 3d?

when playing press menu > play in 3D
it's the only way to do it at the moment (or end the name of the file with "3D")
What are the Adobe Premiere settings that you are using to edit EVO 3D footage. My project is 1280 x 720, 29,97, 441Hz Compressed. Premiere loads the mp4 into the timeline then Premiere locks up. I am using CS4 Premiere Pro.
Try videora for android

I use wondershare ultimate, its like $65 BUT if you know where to look its fr33.
Normally I dont indulge in things of that nature, $65 for software that will be used for me and my phone only (no uploading/sharing) is a little high.
Go ahead flame on, just remember when pointing a finger you have 3 pointing back at you

[Q] Streaming 3D movies from PC to Evo3d?

Does anyone know a good app that can stream 3d movies on your pc to your evo 3d?? I can't seem to find one. I've tried plex, skifta, gmote and it wont play in 3d. I think the only player that can allow you to play in 3d is the Evo's native video player which gives you the option to 3d. Otherwise you have to place the 3d movie on your phones SD card which takes up a lot of space. So I am trying to store it on my computer and just stream it through DLNA. If anyone knows that would be great.
Try zumocast. Havent tried it for 3d movies but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

I actually had the same thought and tried zumocast but it just plays the movie sbs. I think it must use a default player that doesn't support stereoscopic.

Have you tried from VLC direct Pro? According to the app, you can stream from phone to pc and vice versa. I emailed them about it, but they have yet to respond. A lot of the movie files I've seen are over 4GB, which is the limit for either android or my HTC evo3d (forgot).
EDIT:
Also, MX Video allows me to play all the 3D videos I've recorded. I prefer this app to the native for movies because it has convenient controls using swipe gestures.

Converting 3D movies to MIME video/mp4-3d

Hi all,
I have this movie Avatar which carries the MIME type of video/mp4-3d (refer attachment picture). I'm looking for a tool which can do the same for my other plain MP4 videos.
Why ?
The standard EVO 3D video player can switch to 3D mode when playing a plain MP4 videos on the local disk. But when I'm using the app called "Connected Media" or "Skifta" which allows to stream movies through DLNA servers, I would had lost the option to switch to 3D mode already. However any videos which carries the video/mp4-3d MIME type (Like my Avatar movie) would be successfully streamed via the default player as 3D beautifully.
So here's my question:-
1) Anyone knows of a tool or way to change the MP4 MIME type to MP4-3D ?
Otherwise
2) Anyone knows of a player which allows to stream plain MP4 movies as 3D from DLNA servers ?
Thanks, hopefully its not too complicated to understand what was I posting above.

Solution
So far the only solution was given to me is to RE-ENCODE the movie back to MP4 using handbrake and adding additional settings frame-packing=3) under the ADVANCED tab. With this encoding method, your 3D movies will now be played as 3D mode automatically. Refer screenshot for more details...

Displaying 3D pictures on HDTV

I can get media streaming to work using DLNA with my TV. The 2D stuff is flawless. 3D videos from my EVO can be a bit wonky. Sometimes the video plays in 3D on my TV (Panasonic 55ST50) and sometimes it displays the video in SBS (yet both images are in 3D), it's bizarre. It's like my TV knows it's 3D but doesn't really detect it properly so kinda messes it up. But some other videos play exactly how they should! So I don't know, probably the TV's auto-detection. However, 3D pictures. They won't even display. I get a "Cannot open file type" error. However I checked the TV's specs. It supports MPO. So I bought the TV thinking this would work. Has anyone here had experience with this?
