TB shows puk lock without having done anything? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone run into this? My wife has had her TB replaced once already. Today it went to puk lock without her doing anything. She went to make a call and it was puk locked. Had her pull the battery and it's fine for the moment. Seems like the TB has a mind of its own.

I take it no one has had this happen.

I think you may need to call VZ to get a puk unlock code. This can happen on GSM devices (had it happen to me on my Nexus One), and I had to call T-Mobile (my provider then) to get a puk unlock code.
I think its a characteristic of the SIM card, since the T-Bolt uses one.

The device puk locked, but did battery pull and it's fine now. That's what is wierd about it.

It does not really matter anymore, as the PUK code can be found in the My Verizon page. It happened to me, I unlocked, and was good to go.

You can log onto my Verizon and get your puk code also....

I know. She never did anything to make puk lock though. Pulled the battery and it didn't ask again for the puk. That is what bothers me about it. Is it possible the sim card is bad or is it just one of the many anomalies of the tb?

question about phone's antenna.

hi guys, i've been having a problem about my network. sometimes my data isn't working at all but it doesn't really says that it's disconnected to fix it i have to reboot. I tried different roms but my data still drops sometimes like 4 times a day.
so is there any chance that i broked the phone's data antenna even my calls still work? i have the phone for 6 months and this is the first time this has happened. i really don't want to exchange my phone to tmobile but if that's the only way to try then that's what i'll do.

I would suggest getting a new SIM card. In most cases a new sim card will fix that problem. I work for T-Mo and that's usually a good fix. If that doesnt work then try a factory reset. If that doesn't work then warranty. Good luck!!

yeah i have done a factory reset. So i'll ask t mobile for a new sim card?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Just go to a store and ask for a sim replacement. Since its a damaged sim they should just replace it for free.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I don't need to call them? i'll just directly go to a tmobile?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes sir. They will activate your number on to it and put it in the phone. Off you go. That simple.

When you bought your Vibrant, check in the box, there should be 2 sim cards.
i just called t mobile today and they said that my sim card is old which is weird. my sim card came with the phone 6 months ago. is there really a new sim card?
So they said i do need to change my sim card, will my number be changed?

If he upgraded to the vibrant and the rep happened to leave the sim in there then there would be another one. There is typically only one sim per box.Usually if you are an existing customer and you upgrade the rep will take the sim out of the box and keep it.

Nope. Number will stay the same. They just activate the new card with your number and deactivate the old. Yes, they came out with a new version of the sim card a while ago.

oh ok thanks. i really forgot to ask why did they put this sim if it's not compatible with the phone. I didn't know that they have a newer sim card.
thanks!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Well the one that you have should work fine. But like anything else they occasionally go bad. They updated the sims when they started upgrading the network. Just gives a better connection on 3g/4g.

Incorrect PUK Code

Need help getting an Incorrect PUK code in notification pull down. Running Team Sonic Free GS3 4u, Trinity ALPHA 37. Everything is running great, I love this from, but I don't want my phone to lock up on me. Any answers.
I've had this happen back in the days of the Nokia 6150 when I entered the wrong SIM unlock code too many times. Had to call T-Mobile (voice stream) to get the PUK code to unlock the SIM card. I think the SIM card is toast if you put the wrong PUK in too many times. I hope that's not the case for you !
You could also try reseating your SIM.

Sim card issue

So today I was on the phone with my friend and all the sudden I couldn't hear him. I took the phone away from my ear and I see puk code locked please contact customer support. First off what does this mean and why is it saying this. I have not rooted my phone or made any modifications at all to my phone. And I have never removed my sim card. I have only had my phone for less the a month. Also sometimes my phone says I do t have a sim card inserted when I know I do. This has happened to me once before.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

its a known issue with the dna.
try reseating the sim card and rebooting the phone. If the issue persists or comes back ofter go to a verizon store and get a new sim card
I woke up this morning and my sim card was acting up I put it back in because I was lucky enough to have the tool with me and it's better now. I honestly thing it's my sim card because my brother also has this phone and he hasn't had any issues with his sim card at all

Carrier unlock

Is there a way to carrier unlock the amaze without calling T-Mobile?
I called T-Mobile and they gave me the code but I put it in wrong and after one failed attempt you can't put it again.
What's weird though is that I went to mexico and inserted a foreign sim card and to my surprise my phone got service.

Hey Eduardo!
Well the best way (easiest) to unlock is to just call T-mobile and say that you're going to some foreign place like Brazil or Ecuador or something. If one rep refuses to unlock you just call again and repeat until someone gives you an unlock code lol. Just tell them you're going out of state and need an unlock code, they will give it to you 9/10 times anyway, so you shouldn't have much trouble.
The OTHER way is to do this. Right now it's in a gray area because of the stupid law banning unlocking (except by carrier), but the Amaze was released before the law came into play so I guess it avoids the law. Good luck!

Also, if you entered the code wrong, it's fine! It will still work anyway. :good:

I'm going to update ALL of them now and put them in line with SS3.2. Time for full domination again lol.
I'm also working on a Sense 4 port and MIUI but it's harder.
But yeah good luck, I unlocked my S3 within the dialer. HTC can't be too hard either.
