Similar posts exist but I'm confused as this has never happened to me before despite identical circumstances.
I took out my SD card to view a file using my PC's SD reader (didn't edit or anything).
I replaced the card.
Now all my apps and stuff are still installed, no missing data that I can tell...but my home screen looks to have reverted to an earlier state--I think actually the stock GO state. I was pretty certain there was no need to "save" home screen setups--am I wrong?
I'm using GO EX as my launcher and Home Manager to swap between GO and stock. I've swapped back and forth a few times to make sure and the problem persists. Meanwhile the home screen on my stock launcher is totally up-to-date.
The only other aberration I"ve found is that it looks like the list of apps I configured in JuiceDefender ultimate is gone--meaning there are no preferences selected now for when to allow which programs to access data.
My guess is that I somehow wiped the cache of all my programs? But that doesn't really fit with the situation either....
I've got a big log from JuiceDefender I can type up if that would help clarify.
Yeah, when I booted my phone today it came up with a totally different background...so something is fishy.
I suspect it's some app I've given control to like JuiceDefender Ultimate or Optimize Toolbox.
Anyone experience something similar?

I'm still very new to android but I wanted to know if anyone is experiencing this same problem. whenever i swipe left/right at home to back/forth between diff. desktops, the contacts and call button do not go away. It's particularly annoying... Has anyone else had to experience this? is it a general android problem? Is there a fix for it?
I have attached a screenshot. Look at the bottom how they are overlapping.
Are you sure they're not part of your wall paper?

looks to me as tho you've installed launcher pro, and havent set it as the default home launcher, what u can do is download an app such as Home Switcher, and choose launcher pro as the default launcher for the phone, this should get rid of the default Blue launcher which is what you are seeing in the background
i installed launcher pro before and then restored the phone to factory settings because it happened a few days ago... so after that, i decided to stay away from launcher pro because i figured it might have had some bugs since the Atrix is brand new, blah blah blah.. Well, without touching launcher pro, it just happened again earlier today... I didn't install anything either. I might have unplugged the phone or something but other than that i have not installed any new apps today... I cannot remove it through the apps and it's not a part of the background... What can I do to fix this? There has to be some easier way than reseting to factory everytime? anyone else have any ideas? am i the only one experiencing this so far?
I still get the same problem... I find that when I go into the running application 'Home' and click clear data, the problem is solved. My icons and all my desktops are also cleared... Is there some sort of config file I could edit instead of losing my icons everytime this bug occurs? I also don't have launcher pro or any other launcher app installed atm.
i'd do another factory restore if not take it back to ATT if u bought it from them.
were you rooted before, and did you install the custom rom?
Both times it happened, I was rooted. I never installed the custom rom. I'm still trying to look into what's going on and see if I can find a config file that I can edit to change it.
Same problem with my new ATRIX
Hey everyone, I just bought the Atrix last week and had problems with it freezing right out of the box. The next day I noticed that the direction arrows that pop up when switching screens would pop up and overlap my call and contact buttons instead of them dissapearing just like he said. So I went and got it replaced yesterday and all last night and all today my phone was working flawlessly and I was very impressed and thought I must of had a dud until just now my phone froze while playing a game. GRRR not this again So I was forced to take out the battery to restart it and then I scrolled over to the next screen and the stupid arrows were overlapping the call and contact button again I think this must be a common problem. Two phones in a row this has happened. This is kind of pissing me off. Surely more than just the two of us must have this problem? And no I haven't done any of the things you guys said could have caused the problem. The first time it happened I hadn't downloaded anything other than facebook or ebuddy.
I was super excited for the atrix but now am wondering if I should have got something else.
So it turns out that it may have been a program called mixzing music player thatwas causing the problem. After having some problems with the app I removed it and reset my phone and the problem has resolved itself. If anyone with the same problem has mixzing on their phone I strongly recommend using something like winamp instead. My phone works great now and Bell finally released an update today aswell
Anyone experienced this weird problem before? After some use of about few min usage with 2 or more apps running, if the HOME button is pushed, it would reset the launcher and ask me to pick the default launcher again. I have ADW Launcher, Touchwiz, and LauncherPro. Everytime it does this by prompting "> Complete action using ...", I select ADW and checkmark "Use by default for this action." Some 10 - 20 min later, it loses the selection and ask me again even after reboot, uninstall, reinstall, same problem. I have stock froyo ROM, but rooted, with other kernels. I had latest supercurio kernel, it had same problem. I'm testing Overstock kernel, still same problem. The problem is not so bad, it is bearable as long as I don't press the HOME button. It just gets annoying and happened like 70% of the time of pushing that button. Anyone knows how to fix this? Danke.
Same problem here, but with go launcher. Im using darkys 9.5
Home switcher didnt solve it!

I had a similar issue recently. It was an app (MoboPlayer) causing it. Every time I would long press the home button it would lose the default setting. The dev recently fixed it, but I'd suggest having a look at what apps you recently installed and do some testing.

Wait so you are saying an app can cause this? I thought the apps are chrooted (sandboxed) so can't really affect each other except for OS affecting them. What's the best way to figure out what was recently installed? I have lots. If none, I guess I can try uninstall all the apps...and reinstall just a few to see if that holds up.

Just a idea..
-Have Titanium backup.
Backup the launchers(keep 1 there though you need 1), if you have to save the data, save the data.
uninstall it.
reboot.
restore it
that might work?
or erasing the data from the apps might work too

I thought the same thing, but it was definitely MoboPlayer causing it for me. It went away when I uninstalled, and returned immediately when I reinstalled it. I emailed the dev and he fixed it.
If you have Titanium Backup, under the Backup/Restore tab, you can tap the "ordered by" header to sort by install date.
When this happens the easy fix is to go task manager and shut all programs it will reset for you your settings np. This happens to me occasionally when my 4yr old plays with my phone, somehow she jacks it up and erases some the launchers like the phone, etc. So, I found this restores easily.
The problem was ADW.Launcher Free. Without it, things seem alot more stable.
I have a solution
I was struggling with this very issue. I thought it was due to partially corrupt system data. I installed another ROM, from scratch, rebuilt it to my specifications, then added a different launcher once again (different one this time). Rebooting resulted in the default lost and also all widgets showing with an "error loading widget" message in their place.
I finally figured out what was going on. It's because I had selected the option "move to SD card" as the default when installing applications. So, the launcher was on the SD card. Well, this creates a problem with timing, because the SD card is prepared a little later on in the boot process, after the required time to load the launcher. The result? Android draws up the default launcher. And for some reason, the older launcher ends up compromised with some of its default settings.
Once I moved my launcher app back to phone memory, the problem went away.
I have a dual Booted Tablet. When I hit the N button it usually asks me if I want to go home or ADW Launcher(The launcher I chose). Now it stays on the original Nook screen and randomly opens up different books on its own and flips pages on its own. Also, the option to open up ADW is gone. if I hit the N button it just opens up whatever book I was reading last. I turned the device and back on but it acts the same way. Can anyone help me?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'dual booted'. With CM7?
Similar behavior to what you describe (things opening randomly, pages flipping, etc.) usually happens when the battery is very low. I've also seen it happen trying to use USB power adapters that don't really work correctly for the NT. Make sure you're not operating on a very low charge or other power issue.
I used Indirect's Root. I was able to keep the original Nook look as well as boot into another launcher. It was working fine until yesterday. Now the Home button doesn't do what it should but the main thing is that the screen types and writes all on its own. I heard about the low power setting issues with some people. My Nook was at 60% so I don't know if that's considered low enough to be under that umbrella

I can't help you with your problem, but I want to make things clear.
You don't have dual boot or anything like that, you just installed alternative launcher application.
In general you have the same stock firmware you had before rooting with addition of a few apps, allowing you to do more, than B&N wants you to be able to do.

This is correct.
Disclaimer: I am a noob. Please take the following suggestions with a grain of salt.
Perhaps, clearing the homecatcher defaults will clear things up?
Alternatively, you could try installing a different launcher, such as golauncher, and see if it behaves as strangely as your current configuration.

Well I would just install another launcher but the problem is that I can't access the other launcher any longer. The Home button doesn't work like its supposed to but instead opens up the Nook's Book Library. The whole thing just started acting weird and randomly the keyboard would pop up and write by itself in addition to opening and closes the book Library. Its been acting like it has a virus. I factory reset it but unfortunately it didnt help. So I figure my screen is faulty

I got the same few hours after I rooted but using go launcher, just clean your screan very very clean if you haven't put a screen protector on it, then make sure its charged. Now try to open anything in that you could find a link click on it so it opens the browser then go to the android.market.com and download another launcher. After that I took my tablet and removed all the B&N crap apps, ijust left the games. Don't forget to apply the OTA block again.
Advice: remove home catcher.
PS: you could also use adb to push a new launcher but as you factory reseted usb debugging must be disabled, you need can enable it again by downloading tgps_launcher.apk from indirects root thread using the Nook browser.

what should I use to wipe it down. Im thinking I wiped it down pretty good but its still doing it. I noticed the z, e, and s buttons on the keyboard get pressed a lot so maybe its in the lower right region of my device.

Have you tried going in to manage apps and deselect the default for ADW, B&N's Home Launcher and Homecatcher if your using it? I use button savior so I have software buttons rather than the n button. by deselecting the default launcher you should get a window again asking which launcher do you want to use as home.
Just updated to European ICS earlier. As expected, it reset my home screen layout and app drawer sorting. Irritating but fixable.
I spent a not-inconsiderable amount of time reorganising things how I like, folders and widgets etc. I made sure to backup TwLauncher's data using Titanium when I was done just in case.
So a bit later, I try to view an image in "My Files" with the gallery app, and it closes instantly saying the "media scanner running". No worries, I've seen that before, except... it isn't running. Nothing is scanning my media files as far as I can tell. So, I hold in power and do a reboot, thinking that'll clear the problem.
Boom. When the phone reloads, my home screen is once more 'stock', and what's worse, trying to open applications leads to a blank screen for about 5 minutes, at which point it loads up and once more, everything is all just stock / alphabetical.
Can someone tell me what's going wrong, and how I can avoid it happening again, so I don't waste my time reorganising? (Please, no clever reply of "What's going wrong is you're using TouchWiz")
Much appreciated,
Matt
Ok I dont know where else to ask other then the forums, The LeeDrOiD IRC Is Totally Dead (I been there about 6-9 times for about 1-3 hours each over 2 days roughly and no one ever responds)
Anyway Im having a Problem with my Leedroids AppDrawer (The Little Button at "Desktop" that you can click that lists all your installed apps). Basically Its Offset to the Left by about 30-50Pixels And the touch pad is misaligned (Just the Icons are moved The Touch Appears to be Accurate EG (Its in the place It should be if the icons were in the correct spot So to click an app I need to click about half an Icon to the Right of the App i Want to select).
I Need to know how to restore JUST the App Drawer, What is it called in the Root\Data\Data? I tried Com.Eb(somthing).Launcher I restored It and it undid my desktop Setup Which is an issue for me. So I undid that.
Just Tell me what File I need to Restore from a Good Backup (I did Attempt to reflash to make sure that It was simply a data issue, And It IS As I flashed each part of the rom in a sequence Started with System, Wasnt it. Moved on to Data and Found it had fixed my problem. But It also Cleared my Desktop Layout)
Anyway What Folder should I be Restoring (I have a Recent Backup Which im going to use to restore the folder) Inside the Root\\Data\\Data\\ Folder?
PS:Im Not sure of the Reason it Got all Messed up However I Do know that I ran my Battery Completely Dead (I have a Battery Charger though So Im good) But Im wondering if this could cause the phone to Fk up System Related Stuff?
