Hi guys,
I never bought a case for my HTC Hero, and regretted it later as it got scratched by my keys when I run or when I have the phone in the pocket. I do not know much about cases, but I want something good that gives good protection, so I decided to ask around.
Ideally, I would like two cases. I used to have a creative Zen for those of you know know it, and it came with an arm band it was awesome for running. I would love to have something similar for my EVO for running. It's a huge phone and carrying it in my pocket while running long distances is not really ideal.. Any suggestions? The Sprint people suggest I will get one of the Ipod cases but I doubt any of them will fit.. anyone with experience? Besides running, a normal case that protects it in the pocket would be nice. This one can be cheaper as long as it does the job.
I do not think I need screen protectors if to judge from the Hero, but let me know what you think. Thanks!

Here's an armband that would work. I'm going to order one for myself. As far as cases, I usually stick with TPU cases. The hard plastic cases always tend to scratch my phone a bit. In my experience, the TPU cases also absorbed the impact of drops better.

What cases are you chaps investing in to protect your Heros?
Have not seen any yet. Not sure if I should get one or not I did not get one for the Diamond and that is in great nick
New mobiles make me nervous...........
If you have the white... with Teflon coating and a good screen protector I would imagine that a case isn't necessary.
You haven't witnessed my ability to juggle mobiles and drop things out of pockets onto concrete
Also, when locking onto GPS signals, putting phones on window ledges and watching in horror as they drop 30 foot to paving slabs.....oh yes.....
Been there....done that!

i will be keeping a firm grip on my hero....
my old diamond was always trying to jump out of my hand
Mine will reside in my pocket, next to my homekeys, some coins and lint.
I like to put mine in a belt case while at work as I'm always running about. Apart from that a good screen protector normally does the trick
Soon available at www.noreve.com (high quality cases)
I'v tried all the high street stores, and nothing, 99% of mobile shops don't even know what the HTC hero is and 95% of them only sell iPhone crap and nothing else, the worlds getting taken over by sheeps with iPhones
Original HTC Pouch
I bought this:
https://www.expansys.at/d.aspx?i=184424
...and unfortunately, it's crap. My white Hero has now some black parts and looks already old.
So, don't buy this if you have a white Hero. No problem whit a black one, I guess

I got this for free (http://www.handtec.co.uk) and so far no smudges. I tried rubbing some white plastic (NOT my Hero) on the inner leather lining, and with considerable effort I can rub off some black colour. After cleaning the white plastic piece it was bright white again, maybe you want to give it a try.
The case is a bit tight, though. On the other side, the phone can't fall out even if the magnetic latch opens accidentally ;-)
Overall, I'd give it 7/10 (good but not great).
Foof case for my Hero
At the moment I'm using a Foof case with a sherpa fleece inner. Its surprisingly protective and fits perfectly. Snug enough not to slip out but easy to remove. Got the ipod touch size from http://foofshop.com/ and they have great choices for different colours.
I've got this pouch:
http://www.krusellcases.com/uk/p_krusell_product.aspx?i=179446
Just what I wanted so far, it protects the phone and is rather slim. I didn't want more bulk in my pants pocket. The Hero fits quite ok, maybe it's a wee bit too wide, but not much.
Edit:
I'm gonna return the Pouch to the shop. The inner part (as well as the exterior) is made of a leather-like matherial in black color. The first days it was ok, but it has started to leave black stains on my white Hero. I was able to remove them really easily but I'm not happy anymore. I'll go check if its a defect in my pouch or all these models leave stains. I don't recommend it anymore.

Why would you post this here, rather than the thread about batteries?
I do not have a Hero yet, but I do plan on getting on when it is released in the US. Anyway...
Have you guys ever heard of SwitchEasy? They make cases for the iPhone and they are my favorite case maker, and I was planning to get a case from them as I was originally planning to buy an iPhone about a year ago. However, I did buy one for my girlfriend about a week ago and she LOVES it. I waited on buying that iPhone and out came the Hero.
I recently sent them an email to see if they would ever consider ever making a phone case for the Hero. Unfortunately, that was about 2 days ago and have not had a reply...
Perhaps if we can get enough people to send them emails so that they can realize how many people have Heros (and provided you like their cases ) we can get them to manufacture some cases and add a bit more selection to the slim pickings so far.
I am not trying to promote their products or site in any way, but if you like the style of their cases like I do, I would definitely like to see a case from them for the Hero. Was just wondering if we can do a group effort here.

I'm using the HTC belt holster that I got for my Diamond. It's a nice tight secure fit. The Diamond used to wobble around in it.
I am hoping there are some people here who know about what brands/sites are good ones or trustworthy.
Ok, picking up my Evo 3D on Friday..... and surprise surprise, the phone isn't even out yet, yet there are a million different places with brands nobody has ever heard of with supposed cases for this phone, some of them even having dimensions smaller than the phone itself despite being listed as for the 3D.... (Yes I know, no need to tell me many manufacturers will take existing stock and claim it works for the new device just to sell it).
So the thing is, I have no idea what cases might be designed specifically for the HTC Evo 3D, or even any respectable sites to buy such cases from.
But I am also sorta over-complicating the issue by not being sure if I should first over a back cover for the phone or not. See, I am not a fan of the way the camerapod sticks out, I was wondering if there were any GOOD cases that add enough bulk to essentially make the cameras level with the rest of the phone, even if this will add thickness.
Something like this, but I don't know if this really is an official HTC product or not, and if there aren't better ones (or if that is a trustworthy site):
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=28040
And this brings me to my main concern. The main case I want to get is a belt-clip holster, not just a simple little clip that attaches the phone to your belt but basically a whole pouch to hold it, something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Horizontal-Leather-Magnetic-Closing/dp/B0051IGCAI
But on top of the problem I already mentioned of there being a million cases just simply calling themselves a HTC Evo 3D case... there is also the issue of how it will fit. Normally, I don't care if a case is a little too big for a phone since it will hold it anyway, but all of my previous phones didn't have sensitive parts like the camera sticking out so much before, if I were to get a case, id want one designed to hold the pushed-out camera in place too.... but that would only work if I decide not to get a case that ads bulk for the purpose of keeping the cameras flush with the back of the phone.... and if I do decide to go with a back-cover to add bulk, will those pouch-cases then even still hold the phone or will it then be too thick?
Sigh... I'm over-complicating things aren't I? So anyway, any ideas? Its a shame those back-covers that increase the size of the phone can't make use of that size, such as storing a slightly higher capacity battery or something.
That first one's badass. I wonder how much coverage you get on the front. I ordered two slide together ones (like the innocase surface, but a clone), and one super-silicone one. I like buying a bunch of different colored cases to shake things up every now and then.

This is the silicone one. Cheap and highly rated for other phones.

This is the snap together (innocase surface-esque) one. Might be sold out now.
where is the case with the kickstand?
I went yesterday to a sprint store and got me a otterbox commuter case. I love it. They had about 4 different kinds but none with a kickstand. They also had the car dock as well.
TPU case for me. Ordered a few weeks ago from ebay, $4 shipped.
picked up a chase from BB this morning belt clip
case 20
screen protector was free
Are there images of any of these cases?

I got the case that Best Buy sells with a kick stand. It's 2-piece, kickstand, soft-touch, protects well. Very streamline. It costs too much ($40.00) but I had some reward points and ended up getting it for free. Love it!
Hmph, just terrific. To complicate matters, that hardshell case I posted isn't even available until July 13 apparently.... and nobody is showing that it looks like from the front...
I guess I should just at the minimum get a belt-clip pouch for now. Does anyone know of any good horizontal ones that were specifically designed for the Evo 3D instead of just general cases that roughly fit a phone of that shape?
I've scoured the forums and a good portion of Google. Basically, I'm looking for a case for my ATT SGS2 that fully encloses it. I work in a factory and screen protectors tend to not hold up very long (chemicals and metal chips tend to pick at and wear them away). I had an iPhone 4 with an Otterbox Defender that worked very well. The case looked a little worse for wear after I took the phone out, but the phone was completely undamaged. Is anyone aware of something like this for the ATT SGS2 that is currently available or coming out?
I wouldn't mind another Otterbox as I know they work, but I would love to see LifeProof make a case for this phone (those cases look very nice).
Thanks.
Id be interested in this also, been looking around and haven't found anything yet.

Otterbox will probably be coming out with a Defender for this soon.
Hey everybody-
I'm new to the forums, so welcome all.
I recently purchased the Trident Aegis case for my HTC Flyer. My regular phone is an HTC EVO 4G, and I have the Otterbox Defender for that, and the make-up is fairly similar in the composition of them, which I like. I'm the kind of guy that sticks to OEM stuff, to keep things simple and clean.
Anyways, I travel a lot, and I always throw my tablet in my bag for commuting. Unfortunately, even though it has the case, I'd still like a neoprene sleeve for it while it's being jostled around in a bag for a few hours at a time.
I guess beggars shouldn't be choosers on this one, seeing as the Aegis case does a wonderful job already, but does anybody have any suggestions on this one? I'm not looking to get a generic case for an ipad as that's sort of too bulky for me.
This perhaps:
http://www.bodyguardz.com/universal-tablet-sleeve-protection-cases-covers-sleeves-shield.html
I was considering buying it, but when I saw it was as big for 10" tablets, I decided not to get it.
and I don't know why they call it "universal". They should have just called it an iPad sleeve.
Edit:
Here are some others I found:
These looks like the only few that may be big enough to accommodate the flyer with the case on it. Just measure yours and see if it is suitable.
http://www.amazon.com/GTMax-Neopren...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321508537&sr=1-12
http://www.amazon.com/Kroo-Neoprene...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321508604&sr=1-2
Also, I have an Aegis case just lying around and I'm not using it for a similar reason to why you want a case. If you do get a case, please let me know which one so that I may switch to using the Aegis, as I'm sure it will provide better protection vs the current folio case I'm using.
Got an N6 on the way, looking for a flip case that can easily be removed. I'd like to be able to clip the phone into the case when I'm out and about, but remove it when I'm at home or at the office. Anyone have a case like this? I've done some looking but it seems like most of them are TPU cases attached to the flip cover. For my other phone I found one that clipped around the edges in only a couple of spots. I'm hoping to find something similar or at least one that can stand up to the abuse of many in/out cycles.
Might give this one a shot. It's a bit bigger than some other cases but it feels pretty nice. I will warn you though, while not a huge issue, the edges on the flip cover started to look a little frayed after a few weeks. Probably just wear and tear though.

Do you experience any of the button issues that the amazon reviewers had?
http://www.amazon.com/Case-Mate-Google-Nexus-Stand-Folio/dp/B00PIOTZ04
Not particularly, no. I will say they are not the best though. Theres a little bit of play to them. If you can get it cheaper than the 30-some odd dollars they charge, I'd go for it. Personally I usually carry my nexus 6 w/o a case just due to how nice it feels, although if you find a thinner, rubberized flip case let me know.
All in all, I'd give the casemate a shot. Does the job just fine.
I know you might have your reasons for wanting a flip case, but because I wanted to do the same as you (protection when out and about but naked when at home) I went with a really nice larger pouch case instead.

Thanks for the help guys. I considered the case-mate, especially since it was originally sold on Google play so it's close to "official"/oem but the multitude of bad reviews scared me off. I like the pouch idea too but I like to have some protection when I'm using the phone on the go since that's the most likely time I'd drop it. I only remove the case when I'm home or at the office since I'll be at the table/couch/desk there's less risk of dropping it and I prefer using the phone naked as much as possible.
I ended up finding one of these in eBay for 25 and it seems to work well, although it isn't as easy to remove as the flip case for my last phone. I haven't used the card slots yet as I'm a little concerned they could scratch the screen and I don't want to use a screen protector.

I've been using this inexpensive but very form-fitting case since I bought the n6. Easy to slip it out of the case, and I've used nillkin book-type cases for multiple phones. They usually last the life the phone (for me, that's about 2 years)

This is the one I use, and definitely have enjoyed it. I haven't had any problem with cards scratching the screen yet.
If you're still looking for a wallet themed case, you can try out this one by VENA, I have had it for 2 months and it's been great.
http://www.amazon.com/Google-Nexus-...8&qid=1449112949&sr=1-4&keywords=vena+nexus+6
I like my phones naked or as close as it comes (ultra thin transparent tpu case), but I also like to have something to put it in when out and about. My Nexus 5 was kept in a Mofi Kangaroo pouch case which was great. Unfortunately, they seemed to have stopped making them and only ever made them just about big enough for the N5. There are similar alternatives but none seem as good as the Mofi.
So, finding a removable pouch type case big enough for this beast is a challenge! I ordered a hand made fabric one from etsy which is well made, but at the size of the device, looks more like a small sleeping bag than the home of a sleek Nexus device .
So I took a bit of a gamble and ordered something not designed for the Nexus 6. Its primary advertising is for the Iphone 6+, but also states is suitable for Note 4. Looking at both devices dimensions, I concluded it was almost big enough. The Nexus being little longer, thicker and wider than both devices, but not much.
It seems to have paid off. Its a very nice luxurious pouch wallet case in genuine brown leather from what I gather is a brand owned by tuffluv. You can't tell from the site, but the phone pouch part on the side, top and bottom is elasticated so happily accommodates the Nexus's superior girth!
I can even squeeze it in with tpu case - just, but its a bit tough to pull out. Might have to seek an ultra thin tpu case - any recommendations? Without the TPU, its next to perfect! Fully loaded with cards in the card slots makes it slightly tighter to close fully, but still very acceptable in my book.
Currently its in the sale on Tuffluv site where its claimed to be a £50 case (and going by the other similar cases going for in excess of £50, I believe them!). With the sale price and discount it came to £17.99 delivered.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone else was looking for something similar but hadn't found anything labelled as suitable for the Nexus 6.
Can't paste a link but go to tuff-luv dot coms site and search for "Alston Craig Vintage Genuine Leather Wallet Case Cover Pouch for Apple iPhone 6 Plus / 6s Plus / Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - Brown"
Alston Craig have their own site, but there is a discount code for a couple of quid off on tuff-luv
Hope this helps someone.
Oh, ps, there is a small slip of paper in the packaging that states you should have a screen protector fitted to protect the screen before use. Its material lined; not the soft microfibre type, but not something I would be concerned about.
pps. Only issue I've found is the elastic straps are centred, so covers headphone and usb port. Shame, not a deal breaker for me.
