Box is unchecked, phone was restarted. New home page has been recognized since the reboot, however "mobile view" remains the default, even though it is unchecked.
Is there a proxy setting I need to disable or something?
Help plz, mobile view makes baby Jesus cry.
Try clearing data under settings\applications\ manage applications.
Go back into settings once u open browser and uncheck the mobile view again.

Hi guys,
is there any way I can ensure that any of my apps/ syncs / anything does not access internet through whatever mean until I say otherwise?
At home I have Wifi, so it isnt an issue, when I hit the road (I have disabled Data roaming and appl syncs), every now and then, Vibrant starts connecting via Edge and just runs through my Balance
I run Advanced task killer every now and then, still no help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Power control widget allows you to easily turn sync off. It should be already installed. Long press on your home screen, choose widget, and look for power control. Hope this helps.

that was one of the first things i tried...
I use Quick Settings to turn off mobile data when I don't need it. I then turn off wifi when I'm out of range of work and home and only turn those back on when I'm going to explicitly use them.
I'm more of an "update when I tell you to" kind of user so this may or may not work for you.
I'm running Android 2.2 and forget if it was available in 2.1 as well but...
Try looking under Menu -> Settings-> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Network Settings, uncheck "Use packet data".
This should disable all internet access over the cellular modem while still allowing WiFi (when turned on). No extra apps / widgets, etc necessary.
Hi,
I'm a new Android-User and a new Forum-User. I got a x10 mini pro this week. I'm wondering why my device must be always connected? It has to update my mail-accounts always one time per hour. On other systems this is normal: The internet connection is established when used.
I found this out by google search: There should be this setting: Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Enable always-on mobile data. That is just what I'm looking for. But on my device there isn't such an option.
It's a x10 mini pro from sony ericsson. Newest SE-Firmware-Version (2.0.2.A.0.24 Android 2.1) Why do I don't have this option? Is where another solution for this problem? I don't like to switch data-connection off an on by myself. The device is rooted. Any suggestions for an app that can do that? I've tried JuiceDefender but it doesn't actually do what I want.
thanks for your help.
Always On Data
Huh?
But the applications let you tell it how often to check for updates? There were a few the last time I checked.

Hi, i believe that you refer to "data traffic" option. "data traffic" option enables/disables your phone data traffic, that is, enables/disables you mobile internet.
You can find this option in:
Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Data Traffic
When you disable (uncheck) "Data traffic" you wont be able to use at all mobile internet untill you enable it again.
To help you with fast enable/disable data traffic there is also a stocked widget that allows you to turn on/off data traffic, its called "Data Traffic". To put it on one of home screens, long press on one of the home screens, then meny will pop with bunch of options, select: Widgets > Data traffic. And wola!! You have it on home screen.
That way you dont need to go trough all the longer process on entering settings menu.
Anyway, i dunno why you wanna disable it, it eats very little of internet, and i find it useful bunch of times.
Good morning Thanks for your replies.

I run only few applications like k9 mail. They can do that.

No I don't refer to that option. This widget is already on my screen. But with this I have to enable and disable it manually.
On the big X10 should be the always on option. You can check out this link: <can't post this link, cause' I'm a new user >
I wonder if I can manage to set this in the system files without being able to tick this in the settings.
I've installed a nightly build cm 10.1 yesterday. But when I tap the icon of my provider I activate 3g before disabling my connection. I don't want to connect to the internet by 3g, only with wifi to prevent a high bill.
When i synchronise with gmail, all my apps installed on my tablet are being installed on my phone, I can't find the setting for this. I only want to synchronise with my contact in gmail.
You could disable mobile data in network settings, but when you have wifi it will use that first for data.
On the apps question, you must have ticked the 'backup and restore this device' option when you entered your Google account during phone setup.

Problem is that you can active 3g with a single button, this is crucial for me because I don't want my children access the internet without wifi. I think I'll try a different rom, maybe fox hound.
Quick setting buttons can be removed via quick settings panel usually .

Hi All -
I just got my S4 this past weekend (running 4.3) and I now cannot connect to the secure network at work. On my droid if I went to any random webpage the screen for accepting terms would come up, I would click the button to accept and it would connect. With the S4 I cannot seem to get that page to appear. It just uses the 4G for the 'net. If I put it into airplane mode with wifi on, it just has the "not connected" message (tried refreshing many times). I also have tried the wifi manager app (no luck) as well as restarting and using multiple browsers. In searching it looks like this is a known issue, but I can't seem to find a solution that works. I searched here as well (wifi authentication, S4 wifi, etc) with no luck. If I missed a page, I apologize - new here and most of it seemed to be over my head development. Any help or direction would be great as I'm very frustrated.
Thanks
I have to do the same thing with my school network, try to go to the wifi menu, go to settings menu, and hit advanced. There should be an option that says "auto network switch". Uncheck that.

That is already unchecked.
I'm currently having trouble with this one error I found in my Sync settings. The "Sync App Data" is flagging me an error and I've tried everything from resetting a password to going back and forth on my Google dashboard online.
Kind of ticked off not being able to access my Google Play Store because of this. I'm open to any solutions. Also wondering have anybody else had this problem?

Go to settings/general/Google and click on your gmail account. Uncheck and recheck the sync box, see if it syncs. Then go to settings/general/More networks/Mobile networks and see if Mobile Data is checked. If it is click on Network mode right below Mobile Data and make sure you are on LTE/CDMA and not Automatic. After that is the internet working on your device ? If not maybe they are working on the tower in your area ?

Yep, went through my settings and everything checks out. As far as the internet, it has been working normal all this time. Also needed to note here that the last time it was synced is dated 02/13/2015 - 8:53 AM.
Also, when I'm playing a game (WWE Immortals or Injustice: Gods Among Us to be exact) and attempt to use an in app purchase, both games will give me the message "Cannot Connect To Google Play".
