[Q] Is there a preferred radio for the car dock? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have the EB01 radio with Commrom 2.1 and I can't get the audio out to work. I am using an FM transmitter that works great when connected directly to the phone (sound comes through car speakers perfectly) but when the phone is in the cradle the only sound comes through the phone speakers. I tried the "dock sound re-director app" but it doesn't seem to do anything? I also tried hitting the speaker button on and off on the home screen of the cradle and that didn't do anything either. Starting to get frustrated since I know its not the transmitter. Please help.

I'm using MiuiWiz with ED04 radio and car dock audio is working perfectly. It also worked on ComRom but I never used EB01 radio.

I've heard some people have had issues with ED04, have you had any? Which radio did you come from to get to ED04?

The radio has nothing to do with audio out... It's the kernel and ROM. If you're using EB01 as your build (ROM) then you may not have the compatible car dock app. When you place your phone in the dock, does the car dock app launch? And if it does, is there a speaker icon in the top right next to the brightness icon? You have to select the speaker icon in order for the audio out to function

No more than any other radio, I used Comrad Sven's ED01 to ED04 cwr package.

Yes the car dock app launches and yes there's a speaker button and I hit it and try to play my podcasts and it still comes through the phone. I've since updated to Baseband version ED04 and I will update if that helps.
If I put the phone in the dock and it automatically changes to a car dock app that means I have the correct car dock app version, right? Or, if not, then what number version should I have if there is such a thing? I hope this ED04 works... FYI build number is ED01 if that means anything...

Also when I go to hit the music button it says"no activity" if that means anything. Im trying to play my podcasts from "My Files."

Which kernel are you running?

Ed04, ukb 2.1

And you have plug connecting the line-out jack on the dock to your stereo?

Not exactly. Wireless FM transmitter connected to Line out of the Cradle while phone is in the dock. Dock isnt recognizing it I guess? Problem is the transmitter works fine connected directly to the phone but I would like to get some use out of the dock but the hole is blocked when the phone is in the cradle. I don't want to have to drill a hole in the cradle.

Have you tried flashing a different kernel from the ComRom 2.0 thread and/or the Aosp car cradle and music patch?

I tried a different kernel. Where is this Aosp car cradle and music patch? Never heard of it. Sounds like its what I need.

FINALLY got it to work!!! Thank you so much for the advise. Here's what I did in case anyone else has this problem:
Flash this: http://adrynalyne.us/files/patches/car_cradle_patch.zip
And then I flashed this just in case: http://adrynalyne.us/files/patches/car_cradle_patch.zip
Hope this helps some people.

Thanks a lot!
Could someone post pic of this?

Any way to keep the aux audio out when exiting out of the car dock app to switch between additional media apps? The stock car dock would continue audio out if you select exit. If you hit the back button out of the app, the audio out would revert to internal speaker.

i really wish someone could make this a setting or a stand alone app.
Thank you!
Thanks this is a epic user here.I just flashed this.It is working perfectly, finally able to use this as media player for my car! I can't believe samsung dropped the ball on this even after our devices have froyo.I posted a link to your thread in our forums.
Does this patch need to be applied to SuperClean 2.4?
I have Superclean 2.5, and my car dock does not have the dock-audio-out button. Am I misreading this thread, or does this enable the car dock audio out that can then be used for navigation, music player, etc? Cause, I've got nothing that I can find, though I LOVE all the links and the auto-run feature of my current car dock from Adrynalyne
This is the same car dock used in superclean. As I understand, you tap the speaker icon a couple times (or once?) for audio out. I don't have a dock to confirm.

In the version included with SC2.5, the speaker icon only mutes/unmutes the phone speaker, doesn't affect audio to microusb.
In the stock rom, the "extra speaker icon" only appears when in a dock, and only in 3 apps: Car Dock, Desk Dock, and Music Player (all stock of course). With all 3 of these replaced in the SuperClean roms, doesn't supply audio out for docks.
Note: Trying to be slick and replacing the AOSP player with the stock one won't work in original post link, nor trying to be sneaky and renaming it "Music.apk" from "MusicPlayer.apk". My CWM didn't like the 2nd links zip file, guess I'll try extracting the .apk manually, and will report.
SUCCESS
I can confirm that, by replacing the Music.apk with the stock MusicPlayer.apk, and the CarDock.apk with the one contained in the 2nd link by Adrynalyne, the options remain the same, but now audio out works for both Car dock and Desk Dock. See screen captures, note the middle button in capture 2 changes from the phone to the microphone-looking button in capture 3, indicating dock audio out is active. Thanks again Adrynalyne!! I particularly love the links to Music and Voice Search. To get dock audio working for navigation, open the music player, start a song and toggle the icon, then I paused song and used "Back" to return to Dock menu, then navigation, works great!
i tried to flash this but i get this message every time i try to do it:
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripted was deprecated by google in android 1.5
blah blah blah.
DO i need to flash an older version of clockwork??
any help would be great , thanks!

Bluetooth problems

Bluetooth on my TB doesn't connect to my computer or elantra, but it does easily to headsets. Anyone else experiencing this?

My bluetooth will connect to my car to answer phones calls but as far as being able to play pandora after rooting I having been able to do that.
I think the AOSP roms are the only ones that correctly implement the latest blue tooth stack. HTC uses an older and broken implementation. If blue tooth means that much to you, I would try looking a non sense rom

For what it's worth, I can listen to music on the latest stable CM7 using imo's latest kernel using various music players. I use a bluetooth stereo headset. Bluetooth stack is located in the kernel only I believe. Perhaps try a different one?

I did download a different Kernel on my phone, will prob flash that before I switch ROMs just to see if I can get better battery life before I restore Th3ory's 1.3.1 AO5P. I was getting way better battery life on 1.3 than I am getting on 1.4 I hadto switch to battsaver on speedtweak to get the same about of battery I do on 1.4 that I use to on 1.3.

It fails for things like the PS3 Controller and I've seen people saying they can't get a keyboard to sync. However if you read my post I said HTC, not aftermarket modified kernels based on sense . Good to know that it was fixed by porting and patching things though. I never tried bluetooth on it until recently so I couldnt say from experience how it was on a sense rom
I flashed a different kernel and now I can play music in my car. On same rom listed.

His car has bluetooth support built into it most likely. Many new cars do.
I have Bluetooth support built into my car, but I have not figured out how to do anything besides a phone call. Is there an app that you are using?

You should probably read the owner's manual for your car if you have not. Not to pull a RTFM on you
Just guessing it probably says how to do it and it varies by car.
Ya my car has a setting for "enabling Bluetooth audio", but it never recognizes my phone running cm7

It should work. It works with my girlfriend's dInc with CM7. If its like her car, you can't set it up unless the car is parked.

[Q] Bluetooth Audio

I have searched the past threads and did not see any about bluetooth audio issue. I have 2 plantronics headsets that both Paired properly paired 2XXPlantronics and a 220Plantronics. I am on stock GB. Is there an app or setting that I am missing to push all audio through the bluetooth? I tried super Mono but that just stopped audiop playback on my X2 and did not give me any audio through my headset. I have tried with both headsets. Thanks in advance. I think after some review this is a gingerbread issue but with all the developers hear I am hoping there is a fix or some can come up with a fix.
The headsets must support media audio in addition to phone audio. This has been the case since day one. If your headset only supports phone audio, it won't for example pay music. Don't know if anyone has tried tweaking the bluetooth stack to get around this, but the limitation has existed since before smartphones came around.

Anyone got the (stock) fm radio to go over BT?
I use a Plantronics 3XX. On my old HTC Touch Pro II, I could play music thru it with a particular setting in WM 6.5 and I think even WM 6.1 had it too. My thoughts are that it's more an Android issue regarding routing.
[EDIT] - I found on Market an app called Bluetooth Switcher for $2.99 that might work. There is also a FREE trial version for you to try out before making a purchase to see if it works on your hardware.
Bluetooth Switcher trial
Just tried it. Opens and has on/off buttons. It does nothing.
I use a Plantronics pro+.
Yes my headsets have worked with an HTC Imagio (Windows modile 6.5) and on my Dell laptop. I am thinking it is an android issue as well. I tried a friends out whos earpiece had A2DP and it worked fine but I already have a bluetooth headset and do not want to spend any more money. Thanks for all of your responses thus far.

Iirc you must have a regular 3.5 mm jack in to listen to the radio.

You have to have a headset plugged into it because it uses the cord as an antenna. No internal antenna. My Sansa MP3 player's FM radio works the same way.
Now, you can use the speaker on the phone for the radio once you have a headset plugged in. So maybe there's a way to route it thru BT if you have a headset for an antenna.
There is an apk called media switch (pro). It may work but mkt says incompatable w/ dx2. I tried the email purchase but it failed. Mkt does not know what works on MY dx2 as it also said spb shell 3d was incomp. But it works *****great-****. I had to do the email buy.

[Q] Bluetooth Streaming on CM7.1 Stable

I posted this on the CM7.1 stable thread, but I think it would be better answered here.
On stock rom, I had my phone setup to my car's nav system. When I streamed audio over bluetooth using the stock Music program, the car's display showed the artist, track, and album. CM7 nightly did not, and neither does this version. Is there some way I can get that functionality back? The streaming works perfectly though. Just no information is sent over.
My previous phone (Jailbroken iPhone3GS) automatically connected to my car when I turned her on. (the car). This phone running CM7.1 stable does not. Anyway I can change that? I have to go to wireless settings, go to bluetooth, and then connect to my car manually. I haven't changed any settings in my car since I used it on the stock rom (which auto-connected)

Probably one of the limitations involved in how they got A2DP working in the first place.
Remember that A2DP didn't work at all until a few days ago (and I think it was nonworking on the I9100 for a few months.)
Alright, so there's nothing I can actually do to fix the issue? That's fine, it's not a huge inconvenience.

Yeah, you're just going to have to wait for CM to be updated.

[Q] Liquid smooth 3.2 & Bluetooth

Scroll down I resolved other problem, but I have another now lol.
My 2012 Yaris stock radio bluetooth will not let me adjust the volume on my radio when I am streaming music.
When I use anything with sense on it, it is okay, but when I try using ASOP or anything without sense; it is not
Suggestions?
Did you try reflashing the ROM after a full wipe?
Thanks! That worked!
I just need to figure out why my car volume for music streaming through bluetooth isn't working
Would you know? ^_^?
EDIT: It was working with the HTC music player no problem, but when I switched to liquid; my phone uses google music now, so that could be a reason. Any ideas how I could switch to the HTC music player or some other one to set as default?
Do phone calls work through Bluetooth?
Typically when you flash/re-flash a ROM you have to re-pair the phone to the car. The car will most likely remember the phone but you would have to Allow the car to read data from the phone.

Yeah I re-paired it. Still no good
I have a 2012 Yaris with a stock radio that has bluetooth. I am going to try a ROM with sense on it and see what happens.
Going with InfectedROM eternity to see first.
EDIT: Okay with sense the streaming works no problem and my radio says streaming audio, but without sense or on liquid; my radio only says BTA
I don't know anyway around this I really like liquid too!
Okay, so I somewhat figured out the problem.
My phone running on liquid does not let me put the "pairing code", so this might be stopping my phone to directly connect to my car stereo.
Any suggestions on fix?
