It's work to get 4g to turn on. Turn Sync, GPS, Bluetooth all off, then turn mobile data off. Turn mobile data on then switch to CMDA / EvDo, after getting solid 3G, switch to CMDA + LTE/EvDo, it should show up
I just tried the CM7 beta today, and had the same problem. After the phone goes to sleep, and upon wakeup, I have to go through the 3G to 4G routine to get 4G back on. Also I cannot get the GPS to work. Going back to BAMF 1.8 till the official release comes out.

THANK YOU! This got my 4G working without a hitch! I still do not have GPS working...it finds me but Navigation just says "Searching for GPS".

I have a Vibrant with no data plan (I'm in Wi-Fi 99+% of the time). How can I turn off both the 2G and 3G radios, both to save battery and to make sure I'm not accidentally charged for using data?
I searched around and there are a ton of apps and widgets to toggle between 2G and 3G or disable 3G (Smoda, APNDroid, etc.), but I haven't found a way to turn both radios off. I also poked around in Service Mode, and the only options I found were to toggle between 2G/3G, not turn the radios off. Any ideas?
Not sure you can. Airplane mode will kill the WiFi too. But the best bet would be to stay on 2G and disable data roaming.

Trigger Airplane mode, slide down notification area, turn wifi back on. Bingo. I do this at School in areas where I get no reception at all but has wifi access.

Or disable APN, you will still be able to make calls but wont recive 2g or 3g, its a widget

Another option would be *#*# info#*#* then go phone information ..scroll down and hit "turn off radio" and your good to go. Or you can hit menu and press "disable data"

APNdroid shuts them off Ive used when i used my vibrant as prepaid to save battery. After you disable you have to reboot
Thanks for the help, everyone! Airplane mode + wifi is perfect.
(About APNDroid: as far as I could tell, it just changes your APN entries to invalid addresses; it doesn't actually turn off the radio. So you can't use 3G, but I was afraid it would still use the radio while searching for the invalid networks. But I don't have a great understanding of HSPDA, so I could certainly be wrong on that.)
just a heads up, airplane mode also disables calling/texting
Yes the radio would still be searching for networks if you disable the apn
If you get the Juice Defender app, it has a "Toggle Mobile Data" widget. It's a nice 1x1 widget that turns off the mobile data radios (but not Wifi). This is the best solution I've found.

Whenever I'm on WiFi I also have the 4g on display. Is this normal? I'm on stock.
No, it's not. When WiFi is on, you should be getting your data exclusively via WiFi so data over cell signal is stopped and the 4g symbol disappears. Are you sure you are connected to a WiFi network?

Yes I am 100% sure.
Same happens to me at times. I just turn data on then off and it goes away.

Hey this happens to me too!
Very annoying!
Also what's up with the phone switching back my preffered net work every time I reboot? I tik off "cdma only", but after reboot the phone puts it back to gsm/cdma...Grrrr
But yeah sometimes I have to turn off the data ( "connect to internet via phone") or it will intermittently switch between data and wifi

to whoever has that issue, do you use a data counter? just to verify where your data is going through
Happens on all my Androids. Not sure where my data is going through when they are both up in the Status bar. I don't ever hit my cap, so I am fine with it, but it is annoying.

Well, this is my second android phone and I haven't come across this issue before.
I would suggest that you check that your software is up to date. If it is, then power off the phone and pull out the battery, wait a minute then reinstall and power up. If that doesn't fix it, then I would factory reset it, but that's always a pain. If none of my suggestions fix it, then I'm at a loss.

This is because of "My Account" app by tmobile. It runs in the background and uses mobile network for connection to tmo servers (even if you have wifi turned on). Whenever you see mobile network turned on, just goto running applications and stop My Account and 4g/3g icon should go away. Its not just this phone, this would happen on any android device with my account app.
Re: Wifi and 3G Problems
This issue is about to drive me up a freaking wall.
When I'm connected to Wifi at my house and I leave and get out of wifi range my phone doesn't connect to mobile network. I have to reboot it every single time to connect to 3g.
I've called Sprint several times about this and they just walk me through the process check.
Is anybody else having this problem? If so do you know of a fix? Thanks

Mome connects after a minute at the most. Try putting into airplane mode and back. Also just for fun try updating prl

I'm having the same problem. Leave the house and phone still shows I'm connected to the WiFi. I turn WiFi off and get the 3G symbol, but apps are report that there is no data connection. Need to reboot to get 3G to work. Toggling Airplane mode doesn't fix connection.
This is a weird to me. Currently using CM10 and using the network selector to change to roaming when at work (via Automatic selection). Yesterday, when I changed back to home network, my 3g signal wouldn't come back.
I've tried toggling airplane mode, wiped cache, but I really am at a loss as to how to get my signal back. Looking at the Phone info, it appears that I do have a sort of signal. If love if someone could help me out.

I notice with the One on ATT that when I have wifi turned on it stills shows 4g lte next to the wifi symbol. Just curious if both are running.
of course not. if wifi running the lte will be shut off,
that icon just means you are under lte singnal area.

It will still use the Data Network to send MMS, access location services, etc.
yes,MMS must send by your data network, and AGPS too.
