[Q] Can unknown baseband cause headset mic problem? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Dear All,
Sorry in advance if this is an ignorant question,
will "baseband unknown" affect the functionality of headset mic?
My Optimus V is fully functioning without a headset.
But when connected to the headset, earphone works but the mic does not.
Originally I thought the stock headset does not have mic,
turns out it functions perfectly on other devices so it's the phone
LG-VM670
Android 2.3.3
Baseband version unknown
ascpCMod-OV-20110427
Build GRI40
I am hoping to find out if it's more like a hardware problem
or because baseband was not flashed.
Your help is greatly appreciated!!
(Any safety cautions for solution are even better!)

I think it has nothing to do with Baseband version. Just push the headset connector into the socket harder. The headset connector has three parts, all of them need to be inside the phone socket. Sometimes, if you don't push hard enough, two parts of the socket gets in. You will get the headset shape in the phone and the calls will be directed to the headset, but the mic's connector is not actually plugged in. So, just push it harder.
I hope this is the case.

mic only works with phone

can anyone help with the following.....my mic will not work with any apps., ie...notes, fonix etc....but using the phone it works perfectly......so i assume that its not a hardware issue...i was using ser 1.2 when it occured, so i then flashed with a cooked rom from jeffs kitchen....but to no avail.....please..please help....its doing my head in!
I'm sorry to say that it may well be a hardware issue after all: from what we know the microphone and speaker connect to both the phone and the PDA part seperately. If you flashed a whole new ROM and still have the problem, this would tend to indicate that the unit is broken.
is it possible that the fault lies with the mic jack......?
i should also mentiom that this occured several days after getting a car kit.....and i read in a post that the connector is not to robust......

Nothing is impossible, but I would think that would cause the mic to fail for both PDA and phone. But you can try fiddling with the connectors. Try to see if there's any metallic dust at the large connector, and try gently inserting and pulling the headphone a few times.
It could also be that a surge from the carkit blew the mic-amplifier to the PDA.
Sucks...
i also noticed that in the car kit...the remote mic can be used by all apps...ie..i can record a voice note using the car kit.....so how does the car kit mic replace the local mic......

it would appear that the xda mic is permanently in car kit mode...ie there is a problem with pin 1 on the connector........if this is the case......how easy...is it to repair....if at all....whats involved....[i know this is a dificult question to answer]...and is there a way to defanitely confirm this....eg...if i try using the mic on the supplied earpiece, and it works with all apps?

Headphone with built in mic nightmare!

Hi guys,
I recently lost my Shure SE420's and have upgraded to a set of Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Vi IEM's. I bought the 'Vi' version as it has a built in mic for handsfree and a button to answer/hang up. The box said for iphone and blackberry compatible but I assumed the x10 would have no worries as its the same 3.5mm jack.
Turns out I cannot use them as the button appears to be inverted for the x10 / Android, ie its permanently in 'hang up' position. Tring to make a call immedialty displays 'call ended', but if I hold the button down it allows me to call out and releasing it hangs up.
Listening to music is terrible, it sounds robotic and keeps chopping the sound, but when the button is pressed it works fine.
Tested the headphones on my old HTC Touch HD (wm6.5) and a friends iphone and they work perfectly so appears to be an android / x10 issue. The only work around to listen to music is using a 3.5mm extender which doesnt use the mic (one less connection on the jack)
Is there something ive missed in the settings or does anyone know a workaround? Its driving me nuts!
Thanks
its because the wires dont go to the same conections in the x10 compared to the iphone, if you know what i mean. there is no setting because they are hard wired. if you are good with that sort of thing you could make an adapter, afaik that would work but its a lot of hassle.
Does anybody have a headphone with build in mic that actually works on the X10?
yea my stock sony headset that came with the x10 have built in mic and they work fine....

Really? What model headphones are those? The ones I got with my X10 came with an extension remote/microphone that you can use with any headphones, but the extension makes the cables too long so I'm looking for heaphones with the microphone build in.
I tested my Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Vi on an EVO before I bought mine and they worked great. They also worked until around the time of the latest OTA update. Now they don't control music or answer phone calls. I highly doubt the headphones broke but I ordered a replacement cable just in case so hopefully that's it but I suspect they broke something with the update.
Hi! I was wondering of an app that can live monitor my voice on my omnia, in other words I want to hear my voice on the headset so I can connect my phone with an amplified loudspeaker and hear my voice live (without delays) in the loudspeaker. Is that possible? That wold be cool, turn your phone into a speaker system. Please if you can do a reserach and give me an answer, thank you!
mic in headphone jack?
So, does the X10 have the 4 connector-type of headphone jack? Mono headphone jacks have only two conductor areas separated by an insulator; stereo headphone jacks have a third zone; and there are some devices that use a fourth zone adding a presumably mono mic to the mix.
I've been thinking Bluetooth is the only way to add a mic to the X10.
I have one of these mic/headphone combos for my ipod (for skype) and it does the same thing with my X10. I found that if I plugged it in the X10, then pulled it out by about 2-3mm, it worked fine for audio and microphone, but the button would be inactive. Best workaround I can think of.
the original headphone with mic is the best, don`t need to change it
wow so now my skullcandy's w/mic decide to work on pandora radio..
I found this adapter, which might be a fix for the hard-wiring. It's called "FiiO LU1 smart adaptor cable converter".
I am also looking for a wired headset (not in-ears). I know the one from Koss iPorta Pro isn't working.
Today, I found this other one, pretty cool, which claims to be working for most sonyericsson phones: Cresyn C550S black.
Not sure if the adapter is needed though. Maybe it would fix the problem with the
Let me know if you are using any nice wired headphone with mic that is working with x10!

[Q] Headphone hardware problem

I think I have a headphone hardware problem on my Galaxy S2 because everytime I plug the headphone in I get no sound until I fiddle with the input jack such as twisting it around for a minute or so until I get sound. Pushing it in and out dosn't help and the wires are ok as once I find a good position and get sound fiddling with the wiring dosn't cause any problems.
Also if I plug the headphone into my computer jack I get sound from my computer ok, so I think the headphones are ok so I thought it must be the handset connection. Dose anyone have a similar problem and if so what did you do about it?
I'm in Australia but bought phone from Handtec UK.
I have rooted phone and installed later firmware PDA: XWKF3, Phone: XXKE7, CSC: XSAKE3.
Make sure that you are plugging the headphone all the way in firmly.
Also make sure that there is no dust on both the headphone and socket.
I had the same issue for a while, just keep twisting it and pushing it in and eventually you wont have the issue anymore. You're not the only one experiencing it.
Thanks guys I will persist with the connection and see how it goes.
Fixed problem, for some reason the socket wasn't allowing jack to be pushed right in but now ok.

[Q] Headphone jack stopped working.... Rooted Stock 2.2.2

I have a modded aria with the stock 2.2.2 rom on it.
recently I've been using skullcandy earbuds for my phone with the microphone built in and peoplei talk too have been saying that they can't hear me or have been having difficulty hearing me.
I don't believe it's the headphones but I'm sure that it is most likely is the hardware or software in the phone is there any remedy to this?
Have you tried cleaning out the headphone jack? Lint can get stuck in there and prevent a good connection with headsets because headset plugs are longer than regular headphone plugs. A toothpick seems to work well for me.

I did and it still isn't working (saw a similar post but wasn't the same)
Wasn't sure if maybe software maybe the problem or if its just the hard ware
I tried another pair of headphones and same thing
Only thing I could try was rebooting and leaving it off for a little bit but it didn't work
Any ideas would be nice
I don't really know what might cause that in software. If I was having that issue I'd probably make a nandroid backup, then do a factory reset to see if the problem goes away or not.

[Q] Audio issue

Hey guys,
The other day I woke up, went to look at a Youtube video on my S2 and the speaker didn't work. Not only does media audio just not play but I can't hear anyone on the phone (calls) unless I opt for the 'speaker' option (in which I can hold a normal conversation).
I found that it was an audio routing issue, as I downloaded a program 'Soundabout' which allows me to ignore headphone plugins (3.5mm jack) and choose to have everything played through speakers. This works and it solves the calling/media audio issues.
However this means that every time I want to connect my headphones or any aux cable, I have to manually change the settings via 'Soundabout'.
Summarised: My Galaxy S2 randomly developed a fault in which it thinks headphones are constantly plugged into the aux connector. This means I have to reroute via a program.
There are numerous 'fixes' for this problem floating around the internet including hard reset (done) and plugging and unplugging 3.5mm jack a few times (done). Other suggestions include faulty connectors inside the phone (hardware).
If anyone knows how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Update: There is a problem with the actual 3.5mm socket. I know because the audio registers via headphones/speakers when I plug the jack in half way / fiddle around with it in the socket. Here is a video of what I mean: http://youtu.be/FOBLfI0a9zs
Any advice on how to fix something like this?
UPDATE: Had to replace the 3.5mm socket. Replacement comes as a unit with jack, vibrator unit, top mic etc. Can buy on Ebay for cheap.
