I have been getting random reboots while using Wi-Fi. Is anybody else seeing this behavior? I've only had reboots while the Wi-Fi is enabled.
If it's a software issue, I don't mind hanging on to this handset while HTC (hopefully) works through the problem. But if it's my hardware, I want to get it exchanged as soon as possible.

I've had two Galaxy S II phones now, and I've had the same problem with both devices. The phone's wifi is great -- when it works. Although I noticed that the death grip lowers the wifi signal bar, I can still browse the internet and download apps just fine.
The problem is that, at times, the phone will show wifi connectivity and yet, I can't browse the internet or access the App Store. I'll have to shut off the wifi multiple times and even this doesn't work 100% of the time. Shutting off the phone and turning it back on works 100% of the time.
Since this has happened to two phones, I'm beginning to question whether I have an issue with the wireless router because I have not come across this as a prevalent issue. At the same time, my laptop and a family member's iphone doesn't have the same issue.
Anyone else having this problem? Or have suggestion for fixing the problem?
Thanks
Here is me showing the problem on video:
My roommate and I both have the Galaxy SII and he constantly has problems connecting to our wifi. The only difference in our phones is his is rooted and mine is not. I plan on rooting my one of these days but would like to fix the other issues I am having first.
Mine isn't rooted, but it still has the connectivity problem.
EDIT:
I may have found the the solution. Probably unique to my situation, but what I did was disable WPS on my router. It's a medialink router and I thought I had disabled it (per instruction) but it was on. Perhaps that was the issue. So far, no problem.
EDIT:
Nope, the wifi has dropped again. By dropped, I don't mean it drops in the middle of browsing. It seems to drop after I've stopped using the phone for a while. I've already checked to see that the phone is to never turn off the wifi when the display is off/sleep.
Arghhh
same exact problem.
wifi on moto surfboard sbg6580

Don't have any issue with wi-fi , mine is rooted on stock rom
i have no issues with wifi on my sgs2, i have wifi on 24/7, and on wifi proabably 50% of the time. it connects and disconnects when supposed to, picks up on cell data and drops when its supposed to..
fwiw, my GF has an iphone 4, she had problems connecting to the HOME wifi, but no where else, i updated the firmware on the router, same problem, i swapped out the router for a spare a friend had, and setup a second access point on the same network, just called it the same SSID but put a "2" after it.
her connectivity problems went away, immediatly she noticed a difference and has never complained of a drop since...
try different encryption methods, if you're using wep, try wpa, try a few different things.
also try a firmware update, you might lose your settings during a firmware update, but there is usually a backup/restore option you can use. backup your settings before flash, then restore after. if you have access, for at least testing purposes, hook up another router and use it to connect to and see if the same problems persist.
No problems at all connecting to a WHR-G54S running Tomato.
The Moto Surfboards are known to be flaky.
I had the same problem. after getting another one I found out that if I didn't download so many apps at one time the problem mostly stopped and after running a couple weeks, I haven't had the problem with connection since. I'm not sure it will help, but I did a factory data reset and reinstalled the apps one our two at a time (it's frustrating, I know).

I remember that I read a thread which talk about random rebooting. I am the one of those who suffer this issue. When I am browsing websites via 3G for nearly 20 minutes, my EVO 3D(GSM Version) will reboot. Today`s morning, I changed the network model to ONLY WCDMA, the rebooting issue doesnt happen again. My former setting is GSM/WCDMA. I know this method may not resolve all rebooting issue, but you can try it if you have the same issue like me.
Hi,
I'm new to the forum so apologise in advance if this is a stupid question.
I recently bought a Sim Free S3. I haven't rooted it as i'm quite happy with the stock os for now. Everything had been working very smoothly on it. But since getting the over the air update for it my data signal randomly drops out or freezes. It seems to do it over WiFi too. It does this even though it shows a wifi connection or with the H+ visible. I've also noticed it cycle through H+ to 3G and back again.
Sometimes the signal works again on it's own and other times i have to switch the phone off and on aain.
I find it happens on tweakdeck the most but has also happened whilst browsing the net.
Do you think this could be linked to the update or could this just be a coincidence and there's an underlying hardware fault.
Let the new update run for a little bit...let it settle in
It might just be the spot u in and I doubt its the phone
Might be uodate but how long u been on the update?

Think the update came through on Tuesday.
Will give it a few more days to settle and see how it goes.
Thanks.
Still having an issue with this.
My internet worked all weekend then today started to fail on me again today.
The phone shows a HSPA connection but will not download any data.
I know it's not the network as my wife is on the same network and is having no issues.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Same problem
I am having the same problem here. I just bought SGS3 about 3 days ago and I started noticing data drop out yesterday. I wish someone could help me. I was hoping the problem to be solved by the time we get firmware update.
BTW, I am also having problem using usb tethering or wifi hotspot. After using usb tethering for about 10 minutes, it stops connecting although the phone still has data connection.
Is it hardware or software problem???
Thanks!!!
having the same issue after power saving goes on i lose h+ until god knows when
I have an HTC one x+ (not international) and I'm facing a lot of WiFi issues, stated as follows-
1. WiFi drops signal very regularly. And then connects abruptly. Also on waking phone from sleep, there is no WiFi signal however it does gain signal after a few seconds
2. The most irritating problem is having a full WiFi signal and yet the pages won't load even though my other phone connected to the same WiFi loads page just fine at that time. Repeteadly toggling the WiFi on and off does solve the problem but it recurs again
3. Apps from playstore take a lot of time to start downloading though the time taken to complete the download is normal ( that is if the phone properly stays connected to WiFi )
My phone is stock android 4.1.1, not rooted , software version is 1.15.661.11 and let me repeat again it's not international version
Is the WiFi issue a hardware problem or a software issue? HTC has released software 1.19 something something for AT&T aimed at fixing WiFi ,Bluetooth and other bugs, has any of you facing similar problems as mine updated to the said software that fixed the WiFi bug? Is there any fix for the said problem involving custom Rom or something or do I have to take the phone to HTC (which I want to avoid since it's not under HTC warranty as I purchased it from eBay).
Bro's I really need your help!

HTC don't care from where you got the phone, all they need is your serial number, and they can check the warranty.
Write a mail to your local service location.
Trying to isolate the problem to see if its my phone, the ROM, or router. I had no problems before I flashed. It seems like I randomly drop my network and it doesn't want to reconnect without a reboot. LTE also is very intermittent, sometimes going from 4 bars to none or dropping to 3G without even moving. Its been getting very annoying and has been dropping calls lately. Has anyone else noticed this. Is it a carbon issue, a CyanogenMod one? If so does. Anyone know any good gpe based ROMs as an alternative?

Typically Wifi issues phone wise are kernel related if the kernel for example uses different drivers. Cellular issues are typically related to the Radio. ROM itself should not greatly affect radio signal nor Wifi.
