I'm using WhatsApp without any issues on my Flyer and it works very well. I got the apk directly from the WhatsApp site.
I did find that I had to have my cell radio turned on to use it, though, despite the fact that the messages are sent over wifi.

Hi!
Tried Whatsapp in my Flyer and the application "could not recognize phone model".
Three weeks ago, I contacted Whatsapp-support and got the following answer "Sorry, tablets are not supported at this time and we have no plans to support them."
So bad luck for me...for now.
Pls, veethree, could you confirm the website where you downloaded the apk from?
Thanks !
Hi,
I have WhatsApp running on my Flyer P510e. I took the APK from my HTC Desire as it isn't available from the market.
WhatsApp identifies/registers itself using your devices phone number, which makes things interesting if you change SIM often - for example while travelling overseas. I doubt you will be able to get whatsapp going successfully if you have a wi-fi only Flyer or no SIM in your 3G flyer.
Cheers

How exactly do you take the .apk from your Desire? I have whatsapp going on my htc evo 4g, but I can't get it from there to my evo view 4g.
Please help.
Hi,
Before you get started you need to do a few things:
1) You need a file manager that lets you manage and backup applications you have installed on your phone. I use Astro. Install that onto both devices.
2) I transferred the APK between devices using standard bluetooth, if you want to do that then you need to activate bluetooth on both devices and pair them.
3) Almost forgot, make sure you have 'Unknown Sources' activated in the 'Applications' settings options.
So what you do is:
Enable bluetooth on both devices and make sure they are paired;
Use the Astro to make a backup of the whatsapp application. In Astro this is done via the 'Tools' menu item and the 'Application Manager/Backup' option. Select the app(s) you want to back up, then hit the 'backup' button. Backups are stored on the sdcard in the 'backups/apps' directory and should be called com.whatsapp.apk or similar. Navigate to that directory;
Long-press on the apk to activate the pop-up menu, select 'Send', then 'Bluetooth' (if bluetooth isn't available as an option then check that you have activated bluetooth). Select the flyer from the bluetooth devices list. The file transfer will start.
Now you have to switch to the flyer and accept the incoming file via the notifications panel.
After it's been transferred you just need to activate it from where it is listed in the the notifications dropdown and elect to install it. It wont install if 'Unknown Sources' is not enabled.
From there you should be able to register whatsapp. Note that each of your devices will show up as different users to your contacts on whatsapp.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
I got the apk directly from the WhatsApp website - they have a "download" section and then one for "download for Android" which saves the apk onto your PC (or your device, if you're using it to browse).
As has been said, you need a 3G model for this to work - the wifi only version probably gives issues.

Wow, thanks very much. So many times I had seen people "moving an .apk from their phone" but I never knew exactly how they did it.
That being said, it didn't work for my evo view =( Really sucks. Gotta wait for one of my friends to finally get his android so we can use google plus.
I try to do it but still can't identified. My flyer
I have successfully use and installed whatsapp (thru apk from my desire) with no problem. This was before s-off, and my software number was 1.xxSomething.
When I upgrade to 2.xxSomething and got s-off. I still successfully installed but can not launch whatsapp because of "cant identify device" error.
I also face the same problem. Cannot use whatsapp anymore
I have the exact problem. Then i install this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1175589 and now Whatsapp and Viber working fine together with the phone function for the Flyer. But the software number now is 1.38.709.7 and the ROM only in English and Chinese.
flashing to i00 rom did not fix this issue, maybe because that rom is base on 2.xx soft number.
Using titanium restore worked diff for me. it uses my phone account not my flyer gsm number.
So I flash another rom, the one from zhangip, which is base from 1.xx soft num.
Whatsapp now works normal, at last.
Thanks for the post just above.

[Q] Localization apps

I'm searching for two diffirent kinds of localization apps.
First i need an app which is installed on Android phone and can track positions of non-android phones i.e. by phone number.
And the second one app that i can install on my phone and in case of stealing my phone i will be able to find it by gps i.e. by using some kind internet or PC app or another android program.
Is there any apps like that? If they were free that's will be amazing.
Second question:
Try:
- webkey
- AntiVirus
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
That's not what i'm looking for. Any other ideas?

Connect to wifi without Phone

If you have the android wear watch but it is not conneccted to your phone or your phone is not nearnby and you stillwant to connecct to a new wifi network not saved in the watch then there are 2 ways to do it.
The Hard way
1. Edit the wifi supplicant config file located in /data/misc/wifi
As we know to go to this location, root access is required so first watch should be rooted.
here is a thread for it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/android-wear-6-0-1-root-squashfs-t3319097
Also you would require something like a root explorer or es explorer to edit the file and add password for the wifi. Also a keyboard to type. lol. App called minnum keyboard must be downloaded and setup properly. When everything is setup. just edit the file and add the password and connect to wifi
The easy way
2. download an apk called swift wifi. https://apkpure.com/swift-wifi/com.wifi.widget
use adb to connect to watch and install using "adb install appname.apk"
after installed, open the app and connect to wifi. (you will still need minnum keyboard to enter password)
When I launch Swift Wifi it'll load up and display it's string of text and the next line tells me wifi is on them crashes.

The last update was October, 2015 so I wouldn't call it "new". A lot of the comments from people with newer phones and newer OS versions complain that it doesn't work for them.

Help with Watch Droid

I hope someone can help, I have installed watch droid on both watch and phone, however when I try to run watch droid, it detects my watch and then informs me that I have and update. +++ then a big green tick appears.
When the watch tries to update I get a message . "your watch has blocked the update for security purposes" then the connection drops out.
Then i only get an option to press agree, if I press disagree or the 'X' I get "install failed" message and the loop starts again.
I was really hoping for Watch Droid phone to work as it seemed like the most useful app for the Amazfit so far.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks internet people.
you need to install manually the apk, or use this installer:

Watch wear assistant / phone app
I was attempting to use this app with a KW88 smartwatch. Downloaded fine to the watch but here is my problem. I have an iPhone. Is there a way or alternative app for iPhone? Thanks!

Nope, if you wan't 3rd party devices to work correctly with you smartphone you should have bought an Android phone. If you want a smartwatch that works correctly with an iPhone your options are the apple watch, the apple watch or the apple watch.
KW88 smartwatch
If there is an option to make calls and respond to text messages on the KW88 then which app needs to be downloaded? WII watch does not offer those options. KW88 connects to both android and OIS.

If your watch's companion app on iOS doesn't do what you need, then there is not much you can do. Watch Droid works only with Android (you can infer that from its name). It should work with KW88, but you'd better try to get some help from the watch's specific forum or some Watch Droid forum (I don't know if there is one for it here on XDA). Good luck.
Works perfectly with a DM2018 (except it increases battery consumption quite a lot if you stay connected 24/24): it is the only one I found that keep the BT connection stable (the recommended FunDo in its standard version just didn't accept my phone number -that of the SIM card- as a valid one. The pro version did but did not maintain a stable BT connection. If you install from apk you must first authorize installation from 3rd party sources. I tested BT Connection and a few others: same instability.

You need to authorize 3rd party apks. Check settings;
Hello. I have some problems with watch droid. With incoming calls, I have a standard call on my watch, not a watchdroid call. How to disable the standard display of a call. In the Amazphite application, I disabled the push notifications. I forbade the Amazite to work in the background and stopped it and now the call goes through the watchdroid, but as soon as I start the amazfit all over again, and I need to go to the settings of the phone to stop it again. Each time there is no desire to do this. Can everything be made easier? And immediately the second question: how do I respond to incoming calls using watchdroid? Now only 3 buttons: without sound, reject, paper airplane (printed answer).
Thank you.
quick question...can i have both amazfit app and watch droid connected? It seems i can only have one or the other

Auto answer text messages

Hello
Been an iOS user since 2007 and today I got my first Android phone. Love it.
I was wondering if it exists a message app that will let me auto answer a specific number with a specific text.
I have unlimited data (sim card in router) but every 25 GB I need to write "TOPUP" to get access to further 5 GB.
You would probably be needing Auto SMS or a similar app from the playstore.
