Please anyone help me ..
I tried Z4root & oneclickroot...but failed to root..
I'm giving my phone and firmware details below: plz look into that & tell me the rooting..
Model P500
Android version 2.2.2
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Build No. FRG83
software version v10e-mar-28-2001
I head somewhere that 2.2.2 Froyo cannot be rooted...If this is the case, plz tell me how to downgrade firmware & which version is better to root..
Plz tell me regarding what is ROM ...is it necessary for me while rooting ?
Try gingerbreak
Step 1
Go to the App Store and Install "APK Manager"
Step 2
Go under Settings > Applications > Development and turn on USB debuging
Step 3
Connect your Droid to your computer, and put this file on the SD Card. (Borrowed the link of this thread, Thanks to the OP)
Step 4
Disconnect the phone from your computer, and load up APK Manager. Go under install, the app will find GingerBreak, tap it to install.
Step 5
Once it is installed, run the app, and tap to root. Your phone will restart after a minute or so. Done.
You can just get gingerbreak directly from XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
Install and root.

I can't root the phone with z4root and superoneclick.

re: help
what happens exactly?
Do a repair using SEUS and then use z4root. Very easy - can't go wrong.
1. Put the z4root file on the SD-card
2. Download Astro file manager (free version from android market) and install it.
3. Use Astro to locate z4root on your SD-card and install it
4. Open z4root
5. Choose root phone
6. Wait until the phone reboots
Finished!
I did it already, and I tried a lot of ways. Still not works.
Thx
Which version do you use of z4root? 1.2? 1.3? and can you tell me what happens when you try to root, with z4root.
I ask because I and lots of other user have no problem with the z4root, I only seen one user that had to wait for around 10 min before the phone restarted. But after that was the phone rooted.

This build is the same as x8's build and we can't seem to root it either.
One thing that you can do is revert to .504 build and use that

Please try this version 1.3 of z4root it should work for you (atleast do many reports says it will work for your firmware).
Better to try and fail, then never try at all
Unfortunately it doesnt work with this build.
Thanks for trying it! I will add a notice that it dont work on your firmware in my thread.

There is NO need for any ADB commands! you only need the z4root file and to download the ASTRO file manager (free version) from Android market. And then are you ready to start to root!
Just remember to put the z4root file on your SD-card.
A few days ago I updated my LG P500 to 2.2.2, and of course I lost the root access. I tried to downgrade to 2.2, but when I try to open the KDZ flasher, I get the next error: "MOD UpTestEX MFC Application has stopped working". I have the LG drivers installed. Can anyone help me?
Can't you just use z4root?
Sent from my Stream using XDA App
the KDZ Flasher is used for downgrading back to 2.2, because 2.2.2 is not rootable.(not for rooting, like z4root) Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
I think you need root access
you can have root access in 2.2.2
Did you use 'Superoneclick'?
It will root your device
A few days ago successfully rooted my new Optimus One using Z4root (had to download off the dev forum as its been removed from Market). Easy as. Used Titanium Backup afterwards, all fine.
However this morning updated the phone's firmware from V10b to the latest V10e (30 nov 2010) using the LG Updater. So far so good.
However once I started the phone, Z4root did not work anymore. It was still installed, would start, then after the second screen (acquiring...) it would seemingly quit and the battery got quite hot fairly quickly. Tried a few things, such as killing all services prior to running the Z4root, but no luck.
I was thinking the problem could be that I did not unroot the phone prior to the upgrade? Or does this firmware have a built-in switch to kill Z4root somehow? Anyone have a similar experience, or conversely, anyone successfully rooted a v10e model using Z4root? Any experiences, tips, suggestions shared very welcome!! Many thanks
Uninstall z4 and install gingerbreak
1)Uninstall Z4
2) Download Gingerbreak(http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=578771&d=1303829207)
3) Make sure USB debugging is enabled
4) Make sure you have an SD card (formatted and) inserted
5) Get the APK on the phone somehow, and install it
6) Open the APK, press the root button
7) Wait a few minutes. If there are no problems, the device will reboot (note that the reboot itself can take like 10 minutes due to cache wipe)
8) Make sure the Superuser app is install and working
9) Optional: Install BusyBox from Market (I personally prefer the stericsson installer)
10) Optional: Uninstall GingerBreak, you don't need it on your phone anymore

I just upgraded to Gingerbread from Froyo. My phone was rooted on Froyo. I am attempting to root my phone using GingerBreak-v1.20.apk downloaded from the site. I followed the instructions. The rooting process seems to freeze up. I let it run for 30 minutes and finally rebooted my phone. The phone IS NOT rooted. None of my root applications work. I have several applications that need rooting. Can anyone help me? I have an LG G2x running Android 2.3.3. Thanks.
mmm try to install clockworkmod and after install cyanogen with the zip .
or if u want only root u could try root by paul ... search on modaco.com
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
I have just bought a replacement Optimus V from Bestbuy. I have previously rooted my old Optimus V bought in August with the latest zergRush. Unfortunately, my replacement will not root with any method I have tried. zergRush does not automatically restart adb and any attempts to log in with adb are met with error: closed. Fastboot is locked, of course.
A person with the same problems and conclusion is here:

Is this phone truly unrootable right now?
If so, is this the only unrootable Android phone currently?
If so, what are the chances the Motorola Triumph will be patched this way? I wanted to exchange for one but not if it is going to be locked up too.
Which Android version is it? I think you could use KDZ to downgrade the version and then root it.
Of course first try these methods: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15309588&postcount=2
Just got my wife a new optimus v and rooted it with Gingerbreak v1.20 with no prob. Most likely has new screen so needs recovery and rom with kernel compatible with new screen
Need to have sdcard in phone and USB debug turned on for gingerbreak to work properly.

Got an Optimus V earlier this month, one of the ones with the newer Optimus S screens. Had no problems rooting it with gingerbreak.
Did you try gingerbreak again if it failed? It took quite a while to finish on mine (upwards of 12 mins.)
Sorry for the delay. I ran into a lot of problems compiling.
This one is running 2.2.2 like the last one. The last one was successful with zergRush though.
There is no official firmware available for the phone so I do not think KDZ can be used.
z4root - I don't know how to compile this.
I can build the shared libraries easily enough, but when it comes time to build the apk I get errors in Eclipse. I have never used Eclipse before. I installed the ADT plugin of course. I get similar errors with ant (after creating build.xml and local.properties) which I have used successfully before. The error is "method does not override a method from its superclass".
zergRush - gives "error: closed"
psneuter - gives "error: closed"
gingerbreak
gingerbreak exploit - gives "couldn't open output file". I tried several times with and without sd card.
gingerbreak apk - no source? Is the only solution to decompile the apk?
superoneclick - no source?
rageagainstthecage - no source?
Thanks for any help.
Edit:
Success! I was able to get a version of gingerbreak to work. Thanks for the input.
which version of gingerbreak worked with froyo 2.2.2
SeWhnt from my LG-MS690 using XDA App
zergRush worked on 2.2.2 with my first V. I had to use this version of gingerbreak on my second V with 2.2.2. I never tried the apks that are floating around.
I downloaded the gingerbreak v1.20 apk from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 , transfered to root of sdcard and installed with easy installer. Have to check to allow installation from unknown sources under settings - applications and turn on usb debug mode under settings - applications - development before running. Then just run gingerbreak from your app drawer and select root.
^ That's the method I used. I personally think it's the easiest way.
