A few days ago I updated my LG P500 to 2.2.2, and of course I lost the root access. I tried to downgrade to 2.2, but when I try to open the KDZ flasher, I get the next error: "MOD UpTestEX MFC Application has stopped working". I have the LG drivers installed. Can anyone help me?
Can't you just use z4root?
Sent from my Stream using XDA App
the KDZ Flasher is used for downgrading back to 2.2, because 2.2.2 is not rootable.(not for rooting, like z4root) Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
I think you need root access
you can have root access in 2.2.2
Did you use 'Superoneclick'?
It will root your device

I have an LG Optimus One ( LGP500 ) running 2.2 and I rooted it using the z4root tool, version 1.0. From what I saw, back then it didn't have an unroot option. In the meantime, I did an update using the LG Mobile Tool, and I think it updated my system to 2.2.2 .
I noticed that the newer versions of z4root have an unroot option, so I upgraded my z4root from 1.0 to 1.3, to try to unroot the phone ... but I only see the Temporary root and Permanent root options. I tried pressing the Permanent root and it seemed to do something, after which it returned me to my Home. From this, I'm drawing the conclusion that rerooting did not work. I am assuming z4root needs to root, so that the unroot option is available.
Is there anyway I could unroot my phone now?

since you have updated to 2.2.2 therfore z4root wont work on it .it requires version 2.2 to root u can go back to the 2.2 rom and then try z4root
Its already unrooted.

I just upgraded to Gingerbread from Froyo. My phone was rooted on Froyo. I am attempting to root my phone using GingerBreak-v1.20.apk downloaded from the site. I followed the instructions. The rooting process seems to freeze up. I let it run for 30 minutes and finally rebooted my phone. The phone IS NOT rooted. None of my root applications work. I have several applications that need rooting. Can anyone help me? I have an LG G2x running Android 2.3.3. Thanks.
mmm try to install clockworkmod and after install cyanogen with the zip .
or if u want only root u could try root by paul ... search on modaco.com
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
ok so my friend has a Virgin Mobile Optimus V now i see 2 options for Root
ADB
and
Gingerbreak
the phone has stock 2.2.1 so i'm going to make the assumption gingerbreak is a no go as it states Gingerbread only.
so does that leave me with the ADB shell option only? I truly hate adb so i have to ask.
seems alot more troublesome then rooting my Vibrant which only took an update.zip file to root/CWR install >.<
well if anyone can let me know if gingerbreak works on 2.2.1 lemme know.
Sorry. It does not work. I have LG Optimus V with Froyo 2.2.1. I tried using the Gingerbreak, to root the phone. While using the Gingerbreak is effortless to use, I could not break through. I did not know that Gingerbreak does not work on Android 2.2.1. That explains the fact that I was not successful.
I have also postponed using the other option as that is quite involved. However, I will get around to doing it one of these days.
I used that gingerbreak on a LG Optimistic V, I have root access and have titanium backup working. This phone was purchased just last week. And I just looked at the version it reads 2.2.1. So that is all it did for me.
Is it supposed to change to 2.3.4 if it worked?

gingerbreak is just to root. you need a custom recovery to upgrade to 2.3.
as far as gingerbreak not working, it takes a bunch of tries sometimes. it should work on 2.2.1
you might need to use the stock sd card that comes with the phone to get gingerbreak to work, I've read.
Help with Gingerbreak
I got the gingerbreak apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 for my lg optimus v 2.2.2 downloaded it, turned on usb debugging and install non market apps, I ran the downloaded file and it started to install but was taking forever, so I exited out of it. everything has been screwed up since then... i uninstalled it and tried to redownload it from the same place and I cant do it. just keeps saying download unsuccessful, but i can download anything else... I dont have any network problems has installing it halfway ****ed everything up?
I have just bought a replacement Optimus V from Bestbuy. I have previously rooted my old Optimus V bought in August with the latest zergRush. Unfortunately, my replacement will not root with any method I have tried. zergRush does not automatically restart adb and any attempts to log in with adb are met with error: closed. Fastboot is locked, of course.
A person with the same problems and conclusion is here:

Is this phone truly unrootable right now?
If so, is this the only unrootable Android phone currently?
If so, what are the chances the Motorola Triumph will be patched this way? I wanted to exchange for one but not if it is going to be locked up too.
Which Android version is it? I think you could use KDZ to downgrade the version and then root it.
Of course first try these methods: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15309588&postcount=2
Just got my wife a new optimus v and rooted it with Gingerbreak v1.20 with no prob. Most likely has new screen so needs recovery and rom with kernel compatible with new screen
Need to have sdcard in phone and USB debug turned on for gingerbreak to work properly.

Got an Optimus V earlier this month, one of the ones with the newer Optimus S screens. Had no problems rooting it with gingerbreak.
Did you try gingerbreak again if it failed? It took quite a while to finish on mine (upwards of 12 mins.)
Sorry for the delay. I ran into a lot of problems compiling.
This one is running 2.2.2 like the last one. The last one was successful with zergRush though.
There is no official firmware available for the phone so I do not think KDZ can be used.
z4root - I don't know how to compile this.
I can build the shared libraries easily enough, but when it comes time to build the apk I get errors in Eclipse. I have never used Eclipse before. I installed the ADT plugin of course. I get similar errors with ant (after creating build.xml and local.properties) which I have used successfully before. The error is "method does not override a method from its superclass".
zergRush - gives "error: closed"
psneuter - gives "error: closed"
gingerbreak
gingerbreak exploit - gives "couldn't open output file". I tried several times with and without sd card.
gingerbreak apk - no source? Is the only solution to decompile the apk?
superoneclick - no source?
rageagainstthecage - no source?
Thanks for any help.
Edit:
Success! I was able to get a version of gingerbreak to work. Thanks for the input.
which version of gingerbreak worked with froyo 2.2.2
SeWhnt from my LG-MS690 using XDA App
zergRush worked on 2.2.2 with my first V. I had to use this version of gingerbreak on my second V with 2.2.2. I never tried the apks that are floating around.
I downloaded the gingerbreak v1.20 apk from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 , transfered to root of sdcard and installed with easy installer. Have to check to allow installation from unknown sources under settings - applications and turn on usb debug mode under settings - applications - development before running. Then just run gingerbreak from your app drawer and select root.
^ That's the method I used. I personally think it's the easiest way.
Im trying to root my LG Optimus ME p350 but it doesnt work!
When i used Gingerbreak v1.20 it keeps rooting for ever. I open it through ASTRO, as i saw in a tutorial, and when i clicked on root my device it appears the following:
Gingerbreak
Rooting...
Running exploit...
This may take a few minutes!
Device will reboot on success!
and it keeps on, and on, like forever! I've let it for like 30m and nothing!
I also used Universal Androot but when i click on root it saids that there is an failure.
I've also tried Superoneclick but it also keeps forever without anyresults.
In all the actions ive made the usb debugging was check and the unknown decises where also check! I have the 2GB sd card mounted and i just dont know what to do! Everywhere i look the users said that with the gingerbreak everything works on LG OPTIMUS ME P350 but with me... it does NOT!
What firmware do you currentrly have? If it's 10a, then that could be one of the reasons gingerbreak is not working. I had the stock firmware version 10a, couldn't root - then I update the ROM to 10d and Gingerbreak worked perfectly, my phone is now rooted.
sorry for this late reply, hope u reply me. I dont really know where to look for that so i checked the About phone section. The version pf software was LG-P350-V10g. Any other help?
Then if you ROM stock is 10g, I guess it should really work with Gingerbreak. I have version 10d, and it worked wonderfully... maybe you could switch to 10d?
I'm having THE SAME problem (also V10G), what should we do ?!?!? Can anyone please help us...?
