Hi, guys.
My phone has been updated this week via lg official updater and I can't seem to root this thing using simple means. I've used superoneclick, z4root and rageagainstthecage (including manual adb method and gui).
Hope people can help. The firmware in suspect is V10E_00.
Thanks in advance.

before the update my phone was rooted with no problem
Solved?!
Hello,
Guys, even me.. after an official update nothing worked to root my O1 (z4root, superoneclick, etc...) so what I did is downgrade the ROM to 10a but nothing to do.. still the same untill I found this topic http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-roms-hacks/43108-how-root-lg-optimus-s.html - follow step by step instructions and you'll root your P50x. It worked for me.. hope it will work even for you.
Cheers.
nope
Sorry zeule but this is not worikng on V10N (FRG83).
After runing ./rageagainstthecage (a milion times..) the phone must be restarted in order to run adb again....
no # only $

Guys, if you want a rooted phone, in this case downgrade the firmware.. it's easy, I rooted the phone and installed a custom ROM.. much better than the standard.. even rooted standard ROMs do suck
It's just a matter of taste. One minus is that branded ROMs use more resources (sometimes a little, other times many (like HTC sense)).

I understand that Zeule, but if there was a way to directly root this (without having to go to flash back to v10b then install custom recovery, then flash to custom ROM), that would be great.
I don't want to set everything up again: contacts, customizations, etc...
@ameragorn: I've downgraded to v10b before. My contacts and other customizations weren't altered in anyway. It's only when using custom roms that they were lost since it was expected from the data wipe. The good thing is that I had the forsight to sync my contacts with a gmail account I set up just for contacts. You can go back to v10b to get root access or you can wait for a successful method to be devised for rooting v10e.
Easiest way for me to back up contacts and also existing messages is by using MyPhoneExplorer app. Just do a backup there, and once you wiped everything out, just restore it in your phone. No hassle at all.

exactly. flashing to the custom rom will wipe some stuff out. i'm not just referring to contacts, included are messages, customizations i did re-arranging the apps on the menu w/ categories, not to mention data on my apps...
i'll wait around for a successful method of rooting this as it is. same goes when gingerbread comes.
thanks to all who suggested going to custom ROM, i just prefer not to go that route.

one-click rooting will not work...you need to do manual rooting. Mine updated to v10e but since i was using custom rom it did not affect my device being rooted.

manual rooting (via adb) doesn't work either.

I'll try this later as I arrive home.
It's good that it will be my restday starting today.
Whew! It's really hard working in graveyard shift. I can't flash my unit in the office due to restrictions!
I just upgraded to Gingerbread from Froyo. My phone was rooted on Froyo. I am attempting to root my phone using GingerBreak-v1.20.apk downloaded from the site. I followed the instructions. The rooting process seems to freeze up. I let it run for 30 minutes and finally rebooted my phone. The phone IS NOT rooted. None of my root applications work. I have several applications that need rooting. Can anyone help me? I have an LG G2x running Android 2.3.3. Thanks.
mmm try to install clockworkmod and after install cyanogen with the zip .
or if u want only root u could try root by paul ... search on modaco.com
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
ok so my friend has a Virgin Mobile Optimus V now i see 2 options for Root
ADB
and
Gingerbreak
the phone has stock 2.2.1 so i'm going to make the assumption gingerbreak is a no go as it states Gingerbread only.
so does that leave me with the ADB shell option only? I truly hate adb so i have to ask.
seems alot more troublesome then rooting my Vibrant which only took an update.zip file to root/CWR install >.<
well if anyone can let me know if gingerbreak works on 2.2.1 lemme know.
Sorry. It does not work. I have LG Optimus V with Froyo 2.2.1. I tried using the Gingerbreak, to root the phone. While using the Gingerbreak is effortless to use, I could not break through. I did not know that Gingerbreak does not work on Android 2.2.1. That explains the fact that I was not successful.
I have also postponed using the other option as that is quite involved. However, I will get around to doing it one of these days.
I used that gingerbreak on a LG Optimistic V, I have root access and have titanium backup working. This phone was purchased just last week. And I just looked at the version it reads 2.2.1. So that is all it did for me.
Is it supposed to change to 2.3.4 if it worked?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
gingerbreak is just to root. you need a custom recovery to upgrade to 2.3.
as far as gingerbreak not working, it takes a bunch of tries sometimes. it should work on 2.2.1
you might need to use the stock sd card that comes with the phone to get gingerbreak to work, I've read.
Help with Gingerbreak
I got the gingerbreak apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 for my lg optimus v 2.2.2 downloaded it, turned on usb debugging and install non market apps, I ran the downloaded file and it started to install but was taking forever, so I exited out of it. everything has been screwed up since then... i uninstalled it and tried to redownload it from the same place and I cant do it. just keeps saying download unsuccessful, but i can download anything else... I dont have any network problems has installing it halfway ****ed everything up?

I just rooted my LG c800 Mytouch Q on 2.3.6 from mobile.. it was also on stock.. this is what i did after trying for many hours.. i downloaded superoneclick and ran the shell root.
( you would need to have adb on your computer if you dont know how to do this go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752704&page=25 and start from page one)
Make sure to check USB Debugging on your phone and have the phone drivers installed..if you follow the link above you should be able to get all files that are needed
After running shell root i was stuck on waiting for device i waited for about a minute and nothing happened so i re ran shell root and same thing ocurred but dont worry re running it just made the shell root install.. after it got stuck on waiting on device again i clicked on root and from there my device rebooted and a pop up appeared stating my device is now rooted and if i wanted to check to see if i was rooted i selected ok and SU aka super user was now on my phone.. now my device is rooted and can proceed to install CWM.. if you have any questions PM me..i can walk you threw the process..
Hello, people! I've recently bought an L9 P760 from Orange Romania. It came with JB v20c and it updated OTA to v20i. I really like the factory ROM - it's pretty fast, has no bugs and the battery is great - it's everything I need. I just want to know if there's any way I can root this stock ROM. I tried with LGPwn.apk and it doesn't work (I have spritebud) and I've also found a chinese app that is supposed to root almost every terminal, but I'm not so sure about what it does, so I came here for your advices. Any help would be appreciated! Greetings from RO!

What's the error you got from LGPwn? And after you use LGPwn.apk, did you try to install SuperSu from market?
Try this method.
Everything goes just fine, except I have no root access. I restore, the phone reboots, I install SuperSU but it says that there's no binary or smth like that. Then I've tried to install SuperSU immediately after the LGPwn's restore, without reboot, still no luck. I have to mention I've tried many times, it simply can't get root acces (checked every single time with RootChecker).
L.E. @Casserole - I've seen that thing too, but it looks a bit weird (the idea of not knowing what the heck messes with my phone scares me a bit).. is this method safe? Thx in advance!
