Is there a leaked update with 2.3.3? Does anyone have screenshots of kaoscinate?
CM7 Melts my face off!!
What would the best direction to go in for CM7? The Samsung Galaxy S has an official release... same thing here?? No? New to the Fascinate.. I've had mine for 3 days!!!
The Fascinate has no 2.3.3 official leak (nor do we know if it even exists), and will probably take a long time to arrive if at all. Although we do have partially working CM7 Tom, which is awesome. It's my daily driver.

Can you post screenshots if you have time?
Just type in CM7 on Google. There's tons of screenshots of it.

So my wife broke her aria and under warranty said that the replacement would not be an aria being that it has been discontinued. The replacement was a Samsung captivate loaded with 2.2.......yuk! The wife gave me a choice. Aria or captivate? what the heck would you do? Take that puppy and root and load a custom ROM? been reading some captivate forums but don't know exactly how smooth cm7 runs on it and that everything works. So what works you do?
I'd take the captivate. Then if you don't like it, trade it on the marketplace

Being it was in pieces, I claimed that it was lost. Spare parts for me she didn't have s-off. Just rooted.

I'd take the Captivate for the better hardware. I'm guessing it was an insurance replacement through ATT's Asurion? I'm about to do an insurance replacement, good to know what's coming.
CM7 on the Captivate should have daily driver status by now.
Well. I was a nice guy and let the old lady keep her captivate. I'll stick to my bad a$$ little aria. I Just don't have any time anymore to sit there and read up all those crazy roms for the captivate. It was definitely tempting. Still love the size of the liberty.

My wife talked me into getting her an inspire today and while I was at the store they talked me into using my other upgrade so tomorrow I pickup my spiffy new atrix 2.funny thing is as much as I'm at work I'll still carry my aria since it takes up less space in my pocket.

^^ oh for sure. the aria is so pocket friendly. another year or so for an upgrade for me. But when it happens.....I've got to find something small....but packs a punch.
I can confirm this, Asurion says the HTC Aria is no longer available. I elected to get a Captivate, because I have friend who has one and has a custom ROM based on stock that runs great. I imagine CM7 works great, but I have no problem with the stock Samsung interface.
It seems bittersweet to me, because the Aria was SUCH a GREAT phone. (CAPS intended). It really was, I want to cry knowing I have to mail my beloved Aria back to AT&T (it only has a spider-web crack in the upper-left corner by the HTC logo.) I absolutely love this phone, and this great community.
I hereby nominate the HTC Aria for induction into the Android Hall of Fame, for being such an amazing early AT&T Android.
Both me and my wife have the aria, mine is from work. Wife's plan came up for upgrade but she did not want the new phone, loves the aria, and since the captivate was free I told her to get it any way. Been playing with captivate for about a month now, very good phone, but it is too big for me, too wide and one of my biggest complains is that the menu buttons are all the way at the bottom of the phone, makes it too hard to reach them with one hand. The rooting was simple enough, the choices for roms, radios and kernels are overwhelming. But it has my favorite cm7 and been mostly using miui.

I'm looking for a good (stable, ~bug-free) Samsung 2.3 ROM ported for our Vibrants. Simply Stock looks good, but I would like a few more features than it offers. Any suggestions?
i'm looking for the same... does the GPS work on simply stock ? i don't need frills.. just basic reliability.
Lol. And now the sudden flock of users from CM to Samsung roms based off today's news? Can't say I blame you and I'll be joining you....until I get rid of this thing.
LOL. Keep waiting....and waiting....and waiting. Unfortunately like I've said in another thread, the Vibrant is the redheaded stepchild that nobody wants. It's really a shame because I loved the phone (except the crappy GPS) and it still has potential. But I forked over the dough a couple weeks ago for an unlocked Galaxy Nexus and am glad I did. It was a worthwhile upgrade and runs great on Tmobile USA. I just wish I hadn't spent the money on the Vibrant. Barely had it one year and I'm on a TMO non-subsidy plan (no upgrades for me) and the Vibrant was pricey when it released! Never again.....
well it'll probably be back to froyo for me. i jumped to CM7 only when the carrierIQ stink came up. i had been running Axura since i got the phone and it worked very well.. GPS included. wish i'd just bought the little carrierIQ removal tool instead of going to CM7... you know what they say about hindsight.

I've tried Simply stock and the GPS does not work unless you use Bullet kernel (correct me if I'm wrong). Right out of the box the GPS does not work w/ talon. The only gripe I had with the rom was it did not alphabetically order my apps (in the app drawer) when I installed new apps.
I love miui
Simply honey wus great
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
Good luck with that
What ROMs are you guys currently using on the T959D?
Just went back to stock 2.3.3. I was on AOSP 4.0.3 but after jumping off of RC1, I was never able to get it working just right again. Thinking about just going and getting a Galaxy Nexus from Bell, if they'll sell it to me.
I flashed ICS 4.0.3 RC2.11 tonight... all is good so far.. but for the last few months I've been on stable CM7.1.. to nightly 181...it was awsome with the latest glitch kernel.
Battery life on CM7.1 blew stock outta the water once I had everyone configured right. I would easly get 2 days with fair usage and I get bad reception in college building.
This ICS has quite the contender to stand up too... especially since CM7.1 is only a reboot away.
If glitch kernel didn't exist for ICS, I wouldn't be using it.

Cool Maniac - have not tried CM7 but love Miui.
Any battery tips you can share - I can get 12-14 hours on mine with fairly regular use.

battery tips.... hmmm....
The biggest thing was glitch kernel, and undervolting a little. I use autostarts to make set permissions on apps and make sure they only run when I want em too run.
That's pretty much it, besides all the basics, auto brigthness.. etc..
Currently On DarkyRom Resurection 10.2 but many random reboot;I want to test ICS
You may want to look at Darky's 10.4 which was released today I think.

So just to bump this one...anyone got anything interesting they wanna keep fellow Canucks updated on? Something we should all be trying ? I'm still on Darky's 10.4.2 but starting to get itchy...

Hey Jpm, I was looking at bucky's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20451019&postcount=157 post but none of the links work. Is there some other walk-through with working links that you know of?
Just search for onecosmic 4.2 and semaphore 0.8.1. I have a recent post in there with what I'm using and PM me if you gave any issues. I can help out later today

Pretty quiet round here these days. Long weekend, anyone got any big, flashing plans? I've been on WeUI for the last week or so and have nothing but huge praise for it. After initially flashing it I ended up back on ICSSGS for a day then immediately back to WeUI.
If'n you got some time and you're looking for something new, give it a shot. On the other hand, if anyone's got something that one of us hasn't tried yet...(Buck?) how's about letting everyone know what you have going on!
Hope you guys have an excellent long, peaceful weekend! =)
LOL thanks Finn. Did you get over the issues you had with WEUI?
I'm still on sgsics as its very stable. New version coming soonish for that.

Seems like the only issue I had with it was a laggy launcher (Apex) which turns out to be the fault of the launcher itself. I had intitially attributed it to the rom since that was the first time I'd noticed the problem. Same issue with Apex in ISCSGS and I've since noticed in the Apex thread alot of other folks have the same issue across the board.
I'm also keeping an eye out for the new version of ISCSGS as well, I'm sure I'll check it out but I'm hooked for the moment.
Totally kewl. If I had any issues with ICSSGS I would jump but just no desire (eq time) at the moment.

So what launcher are you using on it?

Still using Apex but with the fancy animation's set to "none" seems to work fine like that for me.

That's really encouraging to hear that it's working so well - I've been thinking of trying an ICS rom, but I wanted to wait until they had some of the bugs worked out. Did you use the T959 Vibrant ICSSGS rom?

Thanks a lot! What got me looking again was my girlfriend's Nexus S getting the official ICS update... Those nexus owners have it too easy.

Alright, I bounce around different forums like a monkey on crack. I got some help with my new husky, and am trying to pay it back by helping a guy with his phone. He has a galaxy s on the mobile. I figure it is a vibrant. He doesn't know the name(he is a real newb when it comes to phones). I have rooted several different types including a fascinate. It is a i-9000. Is this a vibrant? Also, what would you seasoned vets recommend for the most stable rom, and and kernel? His is bone stock, and seems to freeze on him alot. What's better than combining your 2 favorite things, dogs, and android. Any help is appreciated, and thanks....

I9000 is a galaxy S, not a Vibrant.
I have been running Bionix-V fishmans mod (froyo). Real fast, battery is good. Was running Asgard, but phone force closed, random restarts while on a call anytime battery was 30% or so. Liked the rom other than that. Haven't been able to find any other GB roms that seem worth trying.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA
If its an I9000 phone switch over to that forum. I would have him go with a GB rom for now. ICS is fine but still may have the EU error and hose his phone.
Look for a JW4 or JW5 Ginger rom over there. (my .02)
I run CM7.2, available for almost everything. I agree that leaving CM9 or another ICS for later is the safer bet. Good luck with it.
