OK I just flashed ComRom 2.0 and i started noticing that My txt were not sending. So I did the *228 option 2 then they all send . Is this normal after flashing a new rom?
Anyone Know why this might happen?
I have no idea but I've had the same problem and found no causes... the only thing that fixes it for me is a reboot or a rewipe/reflash, problem with my fascinate is the txting stops working every week or so.. haven't found any perm. fixes or reasons why it does that

bsannes: Yes, that's normal, and it's always a good idea to do that after flashing a ROM. *228 option 2 (or *22891 to skip the prompt) updates your Preferred Roaming List, or PRL, which essentially tells your phone which towers it should connect to.
It's an even better idea to do *228 option 1 instead (or *22890 to skip the prompt) -- that programs the MDN, MIN and Home SIN as well as updating the PRL. You don't need to do option 2 if you do option 1, mind you, as it covers both.
Note that you won't always (or even most of the time) necessarily have problems if you don't perform the above after a ROM flash, but I can tell you from personal experience that if you dont/forget to there is a definite chance you'll have missing or disappearing texts or calls.
Anoninja: What you described is decidedly not normal -- if it were a programming issue I think texting should either work or not -- though I'd still suggest doing a *22890 and seeing if it fixes your problem.

I've tried and nothing fixes it.. MMS will work fine at the same time though but SMS stops working, I've just come to the conclusion that I have a defective phone or I messed something up in my early days of rooting/flashing

Great thank you for the replies just wanted to make sure I didn't bork something up lol but the phone has been doing good since I *228.
Thanks again for the answer

Like the title says, everytime I flash a new one, or if I flash ziggy kernel especially I cannot get voice calls or data, i get radio interface shortage errors when texting ect, i have to do the ##3282# reset about 5 times to get anywhere, any theories or suggestions? I haven't seen anyone else with this problem and it started when I flashed xron ROM a few nights back..
Are you a google voice user? Are you gsm or cdma?
I only use google voice for voicemail, its Sprint CDMA
Did you update your radios AND firmware? I think the file was radio firmware nohboot or something like that?

It doesn't happen to me EVERY time, but I find myself having to go through the whole reprovisioning and re-setting data thing a lot more than I would prefer to. Hell, I've had 6 of these handsets since release date and I've had to **** around with this issue right out of the box on EVERY one! Love the phone but cmon HTC....wtf!! They really screwed the pooch on this phone, lol.

My problems are usually data problems. As far as losing voice, that happened once after using one of the older "superwipe" files floating around. Took a whole Saturday to get it back, had to get Sprint involved...boy was I pissed! Been using XRON superwipe lately and it's doing the trick!
Try ##scrtn# from dialer then enter your msl. After it reboots let us know if that works.

Still didn't help, when I go to more info on the radio interface shortage error the error code is 67,wasn't that the code a lot of people were getting after revolutionary first came out?
Call sprint and have them reset on their end....and good luck

I might have to do this, for some reason this actually happens after every single reboot, had to clarify that.
This happened to me too, even with those resets you are talking about I wasn't able to fix it. You have to call sprint, they do something on their end, guide you through the same process you are talking about, and then it works. Dial 611, tell them the error and any error code you have. Apparently they are familiar with it because they know exactly what you are facing and know how to fix it without doing any research or any other diagnostic steps.
I don't think this problem has anything to do with HTC, or the phone itself. I think it has to do with Sprints Google Voice integration. I use GV for voicemail only and I have this problem every once in s while. Next time it happens, try making the call using GV. If it works you know this is your problem. For some reason, even though you have it set up differently, GV will take over. This is a completely separate issue from the error 16 that a lot of people are getting with this phone. If it is an error 16 a simple call to Sprint will fix it. If it is the GV integration thing, then it is much harder to fix and rebooting to recovery, wiping cache and dalvik will sometimes fix the problem. Also, reflashing the kernel will sometimes fix it too. I haven't figured out a definite way to fix it yet though. It seems every time this happens, it takes something different to fix it.
I'm actually not even setup to make calls on google voice, I went directly onto the voice. Google. Com website and changed the settings to voicemail only and turned off all other integration.. Can it still be interfering?

Yes. Mine is set up the same way and when this happens if I choose to ask me every time I make a call in the GV app settings and choose GV to make the call it goes through, but when I chose do not use GV it won't work. I get a message that says, "I'm sorry, we are unable to complete your call at this time. Please try again later" and that's it. Since the Google Voice integration with Sprint I have noticed that no matter who you are calling you must dial 1, then the area code, then the # even if it is a local call.
Recently wiped and started from scratch on Warmrom due to a messed up backup and suddenly I'm unable to send or receive any MMS messages.
Out of pretty much nowhere, I'm suddenly getting "Download of message unsuccessful - Generic network failure" when I try to download picture messages and "Failed to send after multiple attempts - generic network failure" when I try to send.
I haven't installed anything that would mess with my APN settings or MMS settings in general.
I've tried multiple fixes including clearing the data for my phone's MMS app as well as checking my APN settings for errors and problems with APN Backup and Restore - I couldn't find anything way out of the ordinary. I've also tried PRL and profile updates multiple times from settings.
Any ideas?
Edit: Apparently the "proxy" was stuck on from when I was on WIFI. I thought I messed with it, but apparently the settings didn't stick properly. Re-edited them and rebooted and messages are at least coming in now, but I'm still getting the generic error when I try to send or receive MMS.
Edit2: Also tried wiping MMS settings via Titanium. No go.
Edit3: Just restored a backup I made a month ago, back when my MMS messages were working. Again, no go. No freaking idea what could be going on.

How would I go about updating my profile manually aside from "System update > Update Profile"?
I've already used that method. Is there another way to do it that is more likely to stick? I know there's a technique involving one of the hidden setup screens, is that what you're talking about?
Edit: Called Sprint, they said they reset remotely and then told me to hit ##3282# and reset my profile. I need to install that epst.apk that allows for the process, so I'll come back here if it works.
Ok weird. No matter what I do, I can't get the data menu to come up, even with alternate EPST. No freaking idea what is going on. Hopefully whatever the sprint rep did will fix it in time.
Final edit: Figured it out. Apparently it was just a series of unfortunate events that led to me having screwed up messaging. The newest nightly of Warm seems to have a problem getting to the data screen even with the old EPST.apk, so I had to revert back to a Nandroid I made early December, reset my profile from there, and upgrade to the current version again after that to get my text messages working properly again.
Hey, all!
Ever since i've picked up the amaze I've been having a mms bug. Can't send any pics w/o enabling the data first. When i hit send, it does display the 4g icon (i'm on stock ics, but it happened on gb as well), but in a minute or two the error message comes in. Once i enable the data and hit retry, it goes out smooth.
I haven't updated to a new sim-card yet (wi-fi calling wouldn't work on gb with the old one, but ics doesn't seem to mind), not sure if that's something to look into.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas
Thank you!

Mms is a data-reliant service, you need data enabled to send or receive. Thus...I would not classify this as a bug...

i've never had a phone that did this. i think i know what the problem is: APN settings for mms.

Downloaded APN Manager and checked my settings with it. Some are not correct. However, this app doesn't work with ICS. Any suggestions on how to change the apn settings on a stock (s-on) ics?

was it hard to just say you can click on the "mobile network" icon to bring up the settings tab vs the switch, as i had no idea it worked like that now? thank you.
Update: still no dice with the correct settings. 4g icons shows up and then i get the delivery error message. once the data is forced enabled from the drop-down, it's golden. very strange.
Without data enabled, you will not receive nor be able to send out mms. No way around it.

i understand that, but when sending mms, there should be a trigger (which i can tell it tries to do when i see the 4g icon appear right after hitting "send", except for nothing happens) for the mms data to be enabled just for the time it takes to send a particular mms, otherwise, what's the point to always have data enabled? none of the smartphones i've had, had this happen (sensation included).

Go into your apn settings and delete it or simply reset to default, it should auto download the correct settings, no idea how to make mms work WITHOUT data being enabled, I find that odd to be honest, but if it worked on GB, then I think you guys should stick to GB, just to save yourself some dollars.
It has been a while russianbear.. Anywho, what previous people have said is true, if you actually have data DISABLED, it won't come on for anything(how would the phone decide you want it on for MMS, but not something else like browser?). I used to roll around with data disabled a bit when I had gingerbread, so I can confirm it was the exact same way - you had to enable data to send mms - if it was off, nothing data related would work.
If you aren't worried so much about how FAST is sends MMS, you could always set it to 2g only, then your phone simply couldn't send much data at all.. or an awesome feature built into ICS - go to system settings then click usage - turn on set data usage limit, and set it REALLY low - this will keep ANYTHING that uses background data from sending/receiving, but any app you use in the FOREGROUND will work like normal - open browser or youtube and they would work like normal..
I'm sure there's another trick that would work, but I need more coffee.. good to see you again russianbear.

hey, man good to see you as well.
i'm sure i'm not tripping when saying you don't actually need to physically enable the data connection for it to send mms (none of my prior devices needed to) i've downloaded go sms pro and it works like the stock app should - i don't need to enable anything to send mms now (all options in that app are stock also). not a deal-braker to me, but still strange.

LOL, that may be why I didn't have issues.. I hate the stock messaging app, so I always used gosms. I'm not sure why you would use that ugly HTC goodness anyways, lol. Good to have you back bro
After much time trying to have MMS working without the data connection being active, I found that putting only "mms" in the APN Type setting does the trick (don't forget to save the settings before exiting the APN settings screen). The problem is that the setting is not applied without RESTARTING the device! So, change the setting to "mms", save, and restart.
You need to have the "Data active" option ticked, but there will (should) be no data connection for internet.
PS: I did this in another device, not the HTC Amaze. But it probably also works for you guys.

i've tried mms only, but still nada. it's ok though, i like go sms app anyway
Actually I send MMS and the message leaves but the person who receives the MMS gets an empty MMS message.
After much playing around with the device, I discovered that inserting a picture using gallery or the explorer that comes with the Amaze are all fail.
The only way I'm able to successfully send messages is inserting the image using ROOT Explorer. When I send MMS the person no longer gets empty MMS messages.
Now I'm using the CapcomCE ROM and it happened on SpeedROM 7.5
I downloaded the Gallery ICS from market and its the same story.
So basically if I insert pictures to send through MMS I have to use the Root Explorer or else the MMS messages are sent empty.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

Try reducing the mms size.
Unlocked phone on T-mobile, US.
I'm not sure when this gets started, but I've noticed it after the April update. When on VoLTE, there's no sound for incoming or outgoing calls. When on WiFi Calling, it auto hangs up as soon as the call is picked up.
Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I had an issue recently where all calls I made (wifi calling or though the stock dialer app) would auto hangup and never go through. Incoming calls seemed to work fine though.
I did a factory data reset and set everything up back from scratch, that was the only way to fix it. This maybe something worth trying if you haven't done it already.
If you do a restore of any backup data (i.e. smartswitch, google backup) I would suggest using the google backup and not the smartswitch this time. I made a smartswitch backup before the factory data reset, but ended up not being able to use it. Everytime I did a restore with the backup the same thing would happen. I had no problems with the google backup.
Also if the problem persists (or if you opt to do so anyways, maybe worth trying anyways) I would call T-Mobile support and ask them if there are any problems or etc. It maybe possible they are working on the towers near you, as one time my service was being a little quirky and it was due to them doing some low/mid band additions on nearby towers. They may just need to refresh your phone on there end or send you a replacement sim card in case a problem exists with the one you have..

Thank you so much for the input! I'm going to factory reset this evening. And if it still persists probably call Tmo. But I guess the chance is low, my other device works just fine with Tmo (both wifi calling and volte)
Let's see! Have a good one!
