I've seen some people have this problem but never a sure solution.
I have tried different CM7.1 ROMs, and a couple different pershoot kernels, I also have used the hacked netflix and the non-hacked one from the market, but still get super fast playback on netflix so everyone sounds like a chipmunk.
anyone solve this issue?

Are you overclocking your tablet? Is anything running in background?
PS: there are multiple reports about that problem and no exact answer. Somehow Android looses real time reference. I've mention this effect in Dolphin HD browser on flash video, when briefly after scroll clips start paying with double speed.

just for ****s, what ROM are you on?
This has worked for me for cm7 nightly 72 all the way up to cm7.1rc1 which I am currently on.
Netflix only works for me on 7.03
I'd liek to use 7.1 because it's snappier, but even with fix permissions it goes super fast.
Are you using an APK?

It's doing the same thing for me. I've got 7.1 running on my NC with dalingren's kernel overclocked to 1200. Changing the overclock settings doesn't do anything either.
I wish there was a fix for this.

Changed the name, because it really was designed for Nookie-Froyo. Removed MediaServer and cache features because they are irrelevant with 0.6.8 and add a force status bar feature which only works if you are on ROM based off of 0.6.8 and status bar framework update.
I wrote a graphic app that views/changes the LCD Density, restarts MediaServer, allows you to see the CPU usage of the MediaServer, and clears the Market Cache and Dalvik-cache. Let me know how it works and what OS you are using? Also, let me know if you want me to add any additional functions.

Thanks for this. I flashed the BT cm7 over #15. I understand there's a dpi that works for scaling with Google reader. I could use this instead of modifying build.prop?
edit: and i presume a reboot needed for it to take effect.

It will reboot it for you. If you need a different density then the ones that I have included, just let me know and I will add it.
Edit: Actually, I could get it to work so a reboot is not needed and the change would not be permanent. Would this be a useful feature to add?

I had to use brianf other app to stop the MediaServer because of youtube keep playing audio. This was with a different froyo 2.2 ROM.
I guess this app has more functions and would also work for that purpose.

i think so... the stock setting in cm7 works to show all apps in the market, but borks greader. it'd be nice if i could manually edit (permanent) the density to fix greader since i use that regularly but then quickly change it if i need/want to see my apps in the market.

I think we are overlapping at least two other uses of the term "media server" (not unusual in the world of technology), making a web search difficult.
Can someone point me to an explanation of the Android use of the term?
Thanks !

There is a service that runs at boot that handles streaming media. This service is called mediaserver. This app restarts the mediaserver binary when it starts using up the CPU.

In trying to optimize my CM7, RC4 setup, I realized that changing the LCD density from 161 to 160 allowed a game that I never got to work before to run perfectly...The game is "fruit slice"...Now I wonder how important this may be with multitudes of games and apks? Anyone else notice this on other apps?? If you've figured one out, or a complete workaround that cures this scaling issue, please offer any insights you might have.I'd rather not have to make folders of certain apps that only work at so-and-so density..but..

I've been using 140 pretty much exclusively. I don't like the Fisher Price look of the big huge icons you get with 200 that so many here are fond of.
I set mine at 210. The only app that doesn't scale correctly is Google Reader.

For those asking how to change it, there is an app in the market (although I've never used it), or you can use Root Explorer to edit the build.prop file in your system folder. Just scroll down until you see something about LCD Density (sorry, don't have my Nook in front of me) with a 161 after it, change that number to one of the numbers listed in this thread. I use 140, some use much higher numbers. You'll have to reboot for the change to take effect.

Funny how that is. I just tried Fruit Slice at 210, 161 & 160. 160 was the only one that worked.
I would suggest Fruit Ninja for 210, but it's a paid app. I bought it a long time ago, and it works great at 210. It was the free app of the day on on the Amazon Appstore the other day, and I have seen the free apps repeat.
...or you could just go with 160.
I have fruit ninja too...I was just wondering if there was some magic cure-all for all apps when used on the nook, or was the reason perhaps just lazy coding by certain app devs.

Netflix apparently removed the app because of the issues some people are having with it. Since its a free app, you can probably easily find the older .apk file by googling.
I just found it using the Galaxy tab and the htc buildprops.

The htc worked, but I had no video until moving the app toSD.

I had netflix working on Phiremod 6.2 with the "hack".
I got the same message that you're reporting when I tried to upgrade to Phiremod 6.3, but I didn't do a clean install.
I did a complete wipe of the nook and started a fresh install of Phiremod 6.3. I then downloaded Netflix from the market and it worked again.
