Hi,
My radio doesn't work on my p500.
The app opens well if i plug headphone, but
- can't change frequency ;
- can't make atomatic search ;
- can't hear or do anything at all.
I have tried with stock rom
now i have ClockWorkMod 3.1.0.0 ; OpenOptimus 1.172.1 ; franco kernel 18.1
I have searched in this forum but haven't found anyone with a similar problem.
What should i do ?
Reflash rom?
may be a new rom?
You mean a whole system rom ?
Like cyanogenmod or void#forever ?
I read here something about baseband. Does it have anything to do with my problem ?

No. Baseband radio has absolutely nothing in common with FM radio.
Are you sure though? In windows mobile, the rillphone and radio drivers managed the whole radio services (including the fm receiver). May it be true to android too?
Yes, once again, has NOTHING to do with baseband. Go search elsewhere.
As i tried 2 roms and it didn't change anything, i believe a third one won't resolve the problem.
Thanks you all for your replies.
One last question before i consider it as broken :
Is there another app than "Radio" to try the FM radio ?
Search Samsung Galaxy S radio widget APK file. This widget not require your FM to work in background. This might help you.
For the record...
I installed galaxy-s-radio-widget-1.0.1.apk (from google code)
and the widgets says "Device not compatible"
I've posted in general section u can check. That
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
So i tried Spirit FM Radio (Mike Reid)
It works a bit better than the stock Radio app, i can at least tune frequencies and hear noise. But no frequency is different than another and nothing other than noise is heard.
Unless you are living in a cave in the middle of nowhere or your dog has chewed on the earphone cables - I would suggest to take the phone to LG service center.

Hey all.
I know i need to use the search tool but i don't have a clue of what to search for.
My Touch Dual can make calls once i turn it on but then after one call, i can call people but they can't hear me and i can't hear them.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, i've read about updating roms or radio's etc? and would someone please explain this to me.
I hope someone can give me the answers on how to fix the call problem and help with rom's/radio's.
Thanks.

If it has the original ROM, then it is time to return it to manufacturer for fix.

In simple terms, ROMs are the operating system of your phone. Like your PC, you can modify or update the ROM. Custom ROMs can have features and programs built in that are not part of the standard ROM that your phone came with.
The radio is the low level drivers to control the hardware of your phone, eg making calls, camera etc.
It does have the original ROM in that case. But unfortunately, I got the phone from Ebay and thus no receipt so they won't touch it.
Would changing the ROM have the ability to fix the call problem.
or
Would I be able to change the Radio? One of these should work shouldn't they?
And if so... Would you be able to lead me in the right direction on how to do it?
Thanks
hey i had same problem
not so long ago ..
where i call they cant hear me and i cant hear them either ..
all i did was remove srs wow hd (if you have it - first enable it make sure the speaker is set to internal.. try call if still doesnt work remove the app)
then did a soft-reset
if that doesnt work try a new radio like 1.65.xx.xx or 1.71.xx.xx
Haha, okay.
To start of with, i don't even know what "srs wow hd" is? And where will it be so i can remove it?
And secondly. How do i change the radio etc?
Thanks

haha lol yeh i only just learning two i ot my own touch dual just a few weeks ago
srs wow hd is sound driver you can find this in settings (if you have it installed) .. so go to setting it will be under system.
try putting it to use internal speaker(its the first option you cant miss it!) ..try call if it doesnt work ... change ur radio .http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369502
download one of the 1.65 or 1.71 one's
next flash hardspl .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730
..before you change radio it says you need to CID unlock your device .. so do that..(personally i did'nt do that even though it says it will stop on 99% ....i only didnt do this because my computer wouldnt run the software ..)
so still try to CID UNLOCK just so you dont mess your phone up ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945 < to get cid unlock + instructions.
so now you've done all that and you have downloaded the radio ... connect your phone to ur pc using active sync and run the file follow instructions( note it says it hard resets aka wipes your phone, it doesnt ) and wait awhile when its completed try to call ..
if that still doesnt work ask a expert
hope this helps ..
Thanks for the help mate, i did all of that but used a different radio previous to reading your reply.
I'll try using one of those now though cause the signal strength is really low on the "RUU Nike Radio 1.58.21.23S Modded" one.
So i'll just have to see what happens
Thanks for the reply though mate, wish me luck! haha
okayy good luck
Cheers man, found a radio that did everything. So it's all good
This forum's pretty sweet.

Helpfull liam12189! Maybe a mod can change the title to something that's more suitable? This way it'll show up in searchresults (hopefully) and can be helpfull to others also.
yes .. that would be a good idea like : help with radio if you can't make calls or something!

First of all, I am a big supporter of searching before posting. Trouble is, in my case, it seems that either I am using the wrong search string or my questions have not been answered. That said, before I post my questions, I want to apologize in advance for any re-posts on my part.
I have a few questions on changing/updating my Galaxy S WiFi 4.0. On the box was YP-G1CW/COO. Kies shows, as the current firmware, PDA:KE1 / CSC:KE1 (COO) and on the Galaxy info screen it says I have FROYO.XXKE1 for a build version.
1 - It appears that I successfully rooted it but when I try to install BusyBox, it shows that my 'System Storage' has 0.00B free. Did I do something wrong? How can I fix that?
2 - There is one app in particular (Pinger TextFree) that I want to get. According to Pinger, the app is available for Android but apparently, only in the US. Which leads me to my next question - Can I change the country code to a US country code? If so, how?
3 - I was also wondering about the GPS. It 'finds' my location (after about 5 minutes) but never (at least not in 40 minutes) gets the driving directions. Is there a 'fix' for that? Should I get a different GPS app? If so, which one would you recommend?
4 - Lastly, I have been reading a lot about the cons of upgrading from Froyo to Gingerbread. What are the pros? Would I be better off sticking with Froyo?
I am hopeful that someone out there will be able to provide me with a few answers.
Thanks in advance to everyone for your consideration.

Tried Market Enabler...still dont see the app...I can see it online and it says my device is not compatible. I linked it with my Google account so when I log in it says the app is not compatible with my device. Since it is a non US device, I am looking for a way to "change" it. Any suggestions?
As for the GPS, although it takes longer to "find me", it does. What I was wondering about was how to 'make' it get the directions faster or at all. Since it is not a phone and doesnt have 3g, should i let it get the directions before I leave the WiFi area?
Thanks again...
Hi,
As you may know Sony has not updated its bt libs even for its own bt devices such as mw600. Hence at least the device I mentioned and own does not show song name or caller ID on its screen. This problem is fixed only and only in CyanogenMod Android ROMs.
There is a bug report discussion here about one version of CyanogenMod Android ROM which did not have the proper libraries. The developer has found the file causing the issue and has posted it and everybody confirms the fix.
Well, I tested putting the file in respective place in a GB rom but it did not work. Most probably a different file is needed.
Can someone help me with it?

New Discussion Found
Well, I found another thread here talking somehow about this problem. Here are some highlights of the thread;
The MW600 will not show up Track Title or for that matter any other information when used with Android. Reason being, Android uses Bluetooth profile AVRCP v1.0. However, in order to get extra information (metadata) like Track Title, Caller Name, etc. you will need AVRCP v1.3 and above; which none of the Android version has...

It works on CM7 as CM7 supports AVCRP 1.3
Click to collapse
They've implemented it on CyanogenMod 7 (CM7) officially as of version 7.1.0, according to the changelog. Whether it actually works or not may depend on the particular phone and if it's been tested.
Also, it only works with the stock CM music player (so far). I'm currently using ThGoCm v3.0, and... it doesn't come with the stock player.
According to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18211506&highlight=avrcp#post18211506), it's at least partially working on FreeXperia CM7.2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364)! That was for version FXP030 though, and it's currently at FXP046. I'll probably try it this weekend.
AVRCP stands for "Audio/Video Remote Control Profile". To put it simply, AVRCP is the part of Bluetooth that lets you stream music. Only version 1.3 and higher can show track info, and stock Android has been using version 1.0.
Click to collapse
So this AVRCP thing is the reason why I get no proper display of the songs' titles on my bluetooth device because the phone does not communicate with it completely.
Now please somebody find a solution to update AVRCP on all roms, as it is on CM.
Hi, I can't post in a developer's forum yet so therefore can't ask if this has been sorted yet but HEY! Does anyone know if this can or will be sorted soon? I don't post much in these forums, mainly because the answers are already somewhere, but I'm not new to android/changing ROMs.
I simply need the phone to connect with bluetooth and stream music when I'm in my car. I use this every day but the last working version of the Jellybam ROM was 2012-11-05. Since then the bluetooth won't stream the music. Phone works fine and the connection is okay but no sound. I've no doubt that if this was a headphone set it wouldn't work either.
Someone posted their 'fix' which I tried and got no connection at all so I re-installed 20121105 :crying:
I like the ROM, it has everything else that I want and it seems fast and I wonder why this change was made?
Anyway, any ideas, please reply

Hmm, can you please explain that it's not a ROM problem but that all Jellybean ROMS have this issue. I think that an issue is a problem and Jellybean ROMs have this problem which isn't being sorted. I'll go back to my original point that the version released on 5th November didn't have a Bluetooth issue but all subsequent versions do - why and is it going to be rectified?

Hi,
It seems to have re-appeared in the 11-26 build & I cant post in the developer forum! Is there any patch fix or something like that for this issue? Read somewhere about an audio-conf file..
It appears that at least one person's Sola is capable of transmitting an FM signal over short distances. I imagine many others can transmit as well as P, U & Go but I'm not sure yet.
If this works widely, these will be among the very few Android phones that can transmit FM, and the only widely available 2012 device I'm aware of. The only other is the T-Mobile/HTC Mytouch 4G and it's also unofficial.
I'll get an app posted soon that can be used to test. I don't have any of these phones, but a Sola owner is helping me a lot. I expect to get one soon, perhaps a U.
Probably most of you in the Sony world aren't aware of my Spirit FM app, since I've been unable to support most; see my sig.
I'm in the design phase for Spirit2 and it will use the ST-Ericsson proposed Android FM API slowly making it's way into AOSP over the last few years. Spirit2 info also in signature at bottom.
Happily for some Sony 2012 device owners, and more-so for cg2900 based device users, this is the API Sony uses in Radio3.apk. CG2900 devices may be the only ones with FM transmit at present though.
I understand the General section isn't for questions, but if mods are OK with it, I'd be interested in "discussing opinions" (which happens in General all the time) about which phone might be best for my development work on this FM API.
Feel free to ask any questions related to FM. I presume people can do that in an info thread. And yes, I've ensured there are no question marks in this post, LOL.
So these are the devices I'm considering, preceded with their best shipped prices in Canadian $ on Ebay:
$ 210 U ST25i
$ 230 Sola MT27i
$ 240 Go ST27i
$ 300 P LT22i
My take reading a bit here is that P is the "best", and as old as U, but U has more custom ROM development.
I'm presuming the carrier unlocked devices, mostly from Hong Kong or China, are also boot-loader unlocked. I think I should avoid local devices, such as from Rogers here in Canada, because they have locked boot-loaders.
I just need a good phone for testing both stock and custom ROMs not normal use. I should probably wait until transmit capability is tested on a few phones successfully.
Wau, Mike You are genius! Spirit fm on ste chipsets.. I have xperia p so i can test something

How to make what work ?
The Nov 26 test release linked in post 1 of my thread should actually work on stock or stock derived devices, but I think it won't run a second time without rebooting.
I'll try to put out a test release in the next day or 2 that will work better. I have it running now w/ RDS on CM10 on my OneX LTE, using the libfmradio.sony-iris.so library found on the Xperia T and similar. And hopefully my Sola tester will report good results tomorrow.
There are still some potentially difficult issues on AOSP type ROMs such as FreeXperia etc., mostly audio related. Audio issues are my most difficult task but stock ROMs make it easy. At least this FM chip is V4L and easy to enable on custom kernels, unlike Broadcom & TI combo chips that can be a pain with bluetooth issues.
BTW, these devices can support FM recording, on stock ROMs at least. I guess most Sony's can.
I looked a bit at the Snowball dev kits for cg2900 etc. None of them support FM, just like the TI Panda & virtually all dev boards. I have to imagine the regulatory issues are a pain.
...
I almost hate to say it, but I wouldn't be here in the Sony forums if the Android API used by Spirit2 wasn't hosted natively on these devices. Cg2900 devices especially seem to be the reference platform for this ST-Ericsson originated API.
I've intended to focus Spirit2 only on the most popular devices with custom ROMs; mostly Samsungs and HTCs. It's WAY too much work to support devices I don't own for testing, and to try to support more than a few dozen devices, of the thousand(s) out there.
And yet stock Sony's support this API, so it's difficult to say I won'
t officially support them. Anyway, consider this a warning that I might decide not to officially supported stock unrooted Sony's at least. My niche is FM on custom ROMs; and average "normal" smartphone users aren't really my target.
Hi,
Here is a little FM transmit test app. Audio is not working yet but you can get a signal and see RDS data on another radio
How it works :
Turn on a radio on 87.5 Mhz
Make sure a headset is connected to your device as it works like an antenna
Open the app and wait 5 seconds.
Click on the Freq 87500 button
Click on the RDS button
Now if you place your device next to your radio you should get a signal and see "Test RDS written". The signal strengh is not very good so it can be hard to have RDS.
To stop transmit just open the stock FM radio app.
Feedback is appreciated on every STE devices

You have to open and close the stock FM app after you use the app to reset everything.
Also make sure you wait 5 seconds after opening the app before pressing the freq button.

BTW, I think that not every FM radio (especially non-smartphone radios) can go down to 87.5. US radios in particular may only go down to 87.9 or 88.1.
For anyone reporting, please report your device, where you got the device, and ROM. Looking at freshbooy's posts I guess he also has a Sola but I don't want to search through everyone's posts or guess.
And for now at least, we're just trying to see if transmit works. It's not particularly usable with no audio, and we can't be sure if audio can even work. I think audio will work, when figured out, but we'll have to see.
So that's two reports from Sola that are positive; Can we get reports for U, P & Go ?
I'm asking "where you got the device" because of my concerns that transmit might be somehow disabled on variants from specific regions or carriers, so please specify the country &/or carrier you purchased from.
I think that only stock or stock derived ROMs have a chance of working with this current FM transmit app.
I can't stress enough how weak the signal may be, and to see RDS data requires a VERY clean signal. For testing it's probably best to loosely wrap the full length of the Xperia wired headset cable around the full length of the antenna of the FM receiver. We may be able to increase power; we tried but first attempt didn't succeed.
I would appreciate getting more feedback on FM transmit, particularly from Xperia U, P or anything ending in 'a' for North American 3g frequencies.
I have experimental transmit in Spirit, but haven't posted it anywhere yet.
I'm about to buy a U, and I guess it will be ST25a so I can use the 3G here with Bell Canada.
AFAICT, the 'a' models still have FM (receive at least, I think.)
I guess if the vendor allows returns, I can consider that if transmit doesn't work.
Are you the spirit fm developer then? If so, please make it work for our Xperia S Jellybean roms. A lot of people will love you forever if you do!

Generally I say no to all Sony support questions.
But I've been adding support for some stock Sony devices, including the Xperia S. This is in preparation for Spirit2 using the AOSPish FM API. But it won't work on CM or other AOSP ROMs.

Dec. 4 test release of Spirit FM Free: http://d-h.st/HDa
Not tested on anything but HTC OneX LTE and Sony Xperia Sola MT27i.
Unofficial support for some stock Sony 2012 devices. Transmit on CG2900 devices: U ST25i, Sola MT27i, Go ST27i, P LT22i.
FreeXperia and other AOSP ROMs not supported, but S4/S4+ devices may work rooted with OneX LTE etc support.
CG2900 (libfmradio.cg2900.so): U ST25i, Sola MT27i, Go ST27i, P LT22i
Broadcom proprietary (libfmradio.brcm-prop_rx.so): S LT26i, Acro S, Ion (Not sure about Xperia Miro, Tipo, J)
Qualcomm WCN3660 (libfmradio.sony-iris.so): T LT30p, TX LT29i, V LT25i
FM Transmit test mode: Ensure wired headset is plugged in and wrapped in a "long way" along the length of a test receiver antenna. Set Debug-> FM Chip to "STE AFM TX" and restart Spirit. Can frequency be changed without restart ? There will likely be no audio.
Use seek down and seek up set different RDS data patterns.

Hi,
If I may awnser you, you don't need to have the stock FM app running while you're starting the app. Can you try again without running the stock FM app ?

Don't run the stock FM app at the same time. It might work in the normal receive mode, & I'd like to hear if that works, but I don't know.
Bootloader lock doesn't matter. All that matters is that you have a stock or stock derived ROM.
