I have an X10 mini and use the stock SE ROM with a Garmin Heart Rate band (ANT+ protocol)
In an ideal world, I'd like to upgrade to a 2.2 Froyo rom (or later) which supports:
1) Using the x10 mini as a WiFi Hotspot
2) ANT+
Does such a thing exist, or do I need to stick with the stock rom and Barnacle?
Thanks!
1. I believe it's possible with 2.2 rom
2. No, ANT+ is currently not supported.
Gigglebread has some ANT+ debugging files, but that's 2.3 ..... whatever

are u sure about that?
barnacle works fine on MiniCM1.0.2
OK - so Barnacle will likely work on any custom rom "as well as it does on the stock rom" (that is to say not without its problems, in my experience).
So do all 2.2+ roms for the X10 mini have the standard Android WiFi Tethering Hotspot functionality built in?
And we think that ANT+ doesn't work on any 2.2 ROM, but it might work on a 2.3 ROM (Gigglebread), which lists it as having "bugs" in?
Think I'm going to have to stick with the Stock eclair rom, unless anyone can shed some more light
In custom roms native tethering does not work since they are bulit on top of se kernel. You have to use Barnacle ad i can confirm it work great in MiniCM6
Don't know about ANT, since it's no so widely supported i bought a blueetooth heart rate monitor
Still no custom rom support ANT+? I can say the volume of users via My Tracks is increasing significantly so I'm sure there are other like me who enjoy using the mini pro as a bike computer/GPS etc.
2.3 based GingerDX at least allows me to install the ANT+ radio service and bike dash, but the bike dash crashes on start..
Im currently dualbooting back to the stock rom to leverage it though..
I tried GingerDX and mini-cm6, both dont work with ant+.
If you've rooted your stock ROM then the ANT+ will work, and you can install the Netfilter module AndyX developed in the X8 forum so native tethering works too.

Not true. I installed stock 2.1.1 rooted followed by minicm6 and ant+ did not work.
What is the reason that ant+ is not working with custom roms?
Is it the kernel coming from other devices??
If so, would a custom mod like gingerDX v015 using a custom kernel based on SEs kernel have working ant+?

I'd really like to know this too!
I heard that ANT+ support is coming to freexperia very soon.
ant+ is now working on miniCM7-2.1.3
Hi, I have a Polar Wearlink belt. I can't connect to my phone but I'm not sure if it should.
Anyone with a similar device?
Polar wearlink won't work unless its Bluetooth version. The Xperia uses Ant+ which is not compatible with Polar. You can buy a Garmin or other Ant+ HRM module and use it on the Polar strap though..

Hey,
Just wondering if anyone's got any clue on how to enable Live Wallpaper support in 2.1 ROMs that don't have it be default? ROMs like CronosDroid or latest VillainROM 10?
I don't use SenseUI so it's not a biggie that these two are not compatibile with each other. I also did have it working on VR6.2.1 but since there's plenty ROMs based on official Hero release coming out now I think it's time to move to something more recent - at least until release of anything based on Froyo.
So, all in all is there an apk application to enable it or some simple sh scripts or adb commands? Anyone? ^__^
I think many (or all) of the official 2.1 rooted roms for the hero dont include live wallpapers because the hero 2.1 rom does not have them where as if you flashed a desire rom you would have them but i dont know anyway of enabling them maybe check if livewallpapers.apk is installed then try and enable them using another software that supporrts them eg. launcher pro

Well, I've seen it working in official based latest Androbin and will test flash latest official based ezHero today as well - apparently it has LW support too.
I am not claiming that these are better ROMs than those that don't support it out-of-the-box. No, I am test running all the ROMs I can get my hands on to finally decide on one and stick to it until unofficial 2.2 gets ported to Hero. ^__^

Currently running EzHero 1.2.1 so no need for that no more but I _DO_ test many different ROMs and it will come in handy there and then. Thank you! ^__^
I will like to share my testing, this is really a breakthrough for me. This is the first time I have tested with Android custom ROM X10 -> wifi connect to -> another Android custom ROM Pulse.

I have been reading most of Android forum, non can be able to connect ad hoc wifi sharing to/from 2 android phone with both custom rom on 2.1 kernel.
more to add later.

Great to know! This is really a breakthrough, can't wait for fully functional and stable release Really a handy feature
Hello there, I hope someone can help me with this Question, here I go:
The original bluetooth stack is incompatible with wiimote apps (or any bluetooth controller), so Im looking for a custom ROM that is based on Android 2.3.4 and has another bluetooth stack...
I have tried MIUI ROMs, but I dont like it very much... It cant playback 1080P videos, and some incompatibilities... I tried also Cognition S2 v1.5, Its a very good ROM, but has original stack...
Is there any ROM out there that is like Cognition (root, deodexed, overclocked...) and IS compatible with Wiimote apps?
Thanks a lot, Im testing some ROMs, if I find it myself Ill post it here
EDIT: I also tried dual-boot (for using Cognition S2 and MIUI), but Boot Manager is incompatible with Galaxy S2...
far asim aware CM7 roms work with ps3 and wiimote pads, they use stock BT stack, but the CM7 are still in nightlys( not for daily or n00b use)
Thanks! I have now Cognition S2 v1.5, which is a very good ROM... I noticed that there are some bluetooth(something).apk in /system/app... Can I simply erase them and put the right ones?
Its a good idea to migrate from Cognition S2 to Cyanogen 7? Will I lose something?
Thanks again
Generic bluetooth stack rom
I have Oxygen 2.2 installed on my galaxy s2, it is a stock aosp rom very similar to Nexus s. Sixaxis controller works with it
Question is clear: can anyone confirm that bluetooth keyboards do not work on any non stock kernel except cf root?
If so why not?
If not which one works.
Using speedmod means no luck.
Was working with stock one.
Loved my keyboard...
Hi all,
I have been trying different MiniCM mods on my X10 mini. Currently im using MiniCM7 2.2.0 and I just love it ! I have also been reading a lot of threads, but haven't found any information regarding X10 mini with 4g/Wimax support. I've seen a few threads with CM7 rom that has Wimax included, but none that's made for the X10 mini.
My question is:
Is there any MiniCM rom version that has 4g/Wimax included? Or is there any other rom you can use on an X10 mini that has 4g/Wimax support? Or is that phone not capable of running 4g/Wimax and there will never exist such MiniCM rom?
Best Regards!
Ponderosa
The answer is simple
In order to use 4G/Wimax, the phone needs to have a chip capable of accessing those protocols, and our X-whatever-phone-u-have, ie, at least the 2010 models don't have that capability and it's not possible to emulate that in software.
If you need it, you'll need to get a phone that states it supports it, and in that case, it will also do it on the stock firmware it comes with
