You need to go to the app it's using in the application manager, then scroll down and hit "clear defaults". Then the next time it will have the pop up box.

[Solved] What Select Player does with PC

Alright... if you go to your gallery and open a video and go to menu>Select Player it gives u a sort of option I guess to play what u r currently playing on a different device. (I guess?) I'm not sure what it actually does since on mine it just shows a sort of wifi icon in the upper right corner with a spinny wheel as if its scanning for something. For me it never finds anything. I'm on the same wifi network as my PC and my Mac. Could someone please explain exactly what this "Select Player" function does and how to set up/use it please? I would really appreciate it.

Yes its scanning for a DLNA device on your network. You have the Select Player option for Music, Pics, Video. In my case, its my A/V receiver. So if I want to play any songs from my phone over the stereo, I can select that device and stream music from my phone to the receiver. It works for pics and videos too. I stream my pics through my Bluray player.

So if I wanted to play a video or music through my PC I would need to download some sort of DLNA receiving software?
it works with windows media player 11, you can also stream from you pc to the phone in the gallery too, click where it says "Albums" at the top and select Media servers
edit: you might have to turn on streaming in media player to get it to work...
select the "stream" drop down in WMP11 and select "allow remote control of my player..."

Thanks for the info it works great. It would be koo to figure out how to get this working with a Mac.

[Q] watch app in 3d

Hi guys,
Hoping someone here can help. I like the idea of using the watch app widget to store my 3d content for ease of playback.
Now when i watch the green hornet in 3d through the watch app it plays in 3d wonderfully.
So i have moved some of my 3d movies to the 'htc watch' 'preloads' folder to take advantage of the widget. I can see the thumbnails and i can play the movies. However, for some reason it is playing them side by side instead of 3d.
So i presume it is not using the built in player but instead another one, maybe es movie player? I presume this because When the movie is running and i try hitting the menu button nothing happens.
So my questions are
1) is it possible to make the watch app default to using the inbuilt player.
or
2) is there away i can tag the movie so that whichever player watch is using it plays the 3d movie in 3d the way it does with the green hornet?
Thanks.

Sometimes when you go to play certain media and there are more than one program that will use it, the OS will ask you which one do you want to use. If not maybe you have set the other one to be the default.
If you go to the APPS section in the settings menu and you find the default app that opens when you play that type of file, you can probably clear the defaults and that should let you choose next time you open that file type.

That was what i was looking for thanks. Unfortunately it is saying there are no defaults. Maybe the watch app is its own player?
Any other ideas?
Someone in another thread mentioned that you could alter the name of the saved file to get the player to play it in 3d but then never said what to change it too.
have you tried hitting menu then select Watch in 3D?

Internet Movie - Watching it with Flas Player rather than Apps

Dont know that my title is sufficiently clear, same problem could be mentioned here in Q&A, but i dont know how to search that topic, through which sentence or words.
Anyway, when i am trying to watch a movie in my adroid device (Xperia Sola), sometimes it directly opens it with flash player withing the browser (Btw i am using stock) and sometimes it wants me to open with some apps, like Movies, Quickpic and MX Player. Since i am able to play that video with flash player in my computer, i want that video to be played by flash player, not by some apps.
Actually MX Player is better in watching movies, but sometimes it cant grab the movie, but flash player makes no problem like that.
PS: I unchecked "Play HTTP Links" in MX Player, but there is no such option in stock Movies app and Quickpic.
I would be appreciated for your all possible solutions.
Its may be because sometimes the files to be played is flv so it directly plays in flash player sometimes its different like mp4 etc than browser asks you to choose an app...
And if you want than you can choose flash player as default player than it will play in flash player automatically
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.
Then, where is that option?

When ever you try to play a video this type of pop up will appear..
So what you have to do is just tick in the box use by default for this action.. Then select whatever player you want to play default..

Since there is no option to play with Flash Player, i cant shoose this.

[Q] Changing default video player

So I have MX Video player installed and where I could I set it as the default video app player. However when in the standard browser or even in Chrome browser when clicking a video it still plays using the native video player on the GS4. I downloaded a tool to tell me what all of my defaults are and I cannot find anything else so I'm lost at the moment. Is there a way to override the "built-in" video player when in a browser so I can use MX instead? I am unrooted, stock on the Verizon GS4 16GB and have the ME7 update installed via Kies. TIA for any help.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Bump
Just took the DMI1 update and still I cannot get MX to be the default video player for some websites. Anyone know a way to disable the built-in video player that launches by default? What's the app's name and location and can I disable it? Thanks.
Settings, More, Apps, All, find Video Player. In the Video Player App Info page scroll down and tap Clear Defaults.
Now you'll be prompted next time you open a video asking which player to use.

Yeah, I checked that a long time ago. Both Video and Video Player, the purple circle with white triangle are not showing as default - they are both greyed out. That's what is so strange about this. Can't put my finger on it.
I went to apps, show all apps incl. system and searched for 'player' then I'd found some unknown player (can't recall its name); I'd uninstalled it and videos played well back again from Telegram. Weird.

How can you change the default in browser streaming video player?

Hi Folks,
This is really got me
I've come from a HTC M7 to a Oneplus 3. The in-browser video on the HTC M7 was great - you were able to control brightness, control the sound and search through the video all via screen gestures. Since moving to the OP3 it has a standard video player that has none of those features. You have to use the old school controls of the video menu bar - there's no gesture control.
I've downloaded MX and VLC but they're only good as standalone players - to play stored content.
It loads the same player on both browsers, Chrome and Dolphin... and it loads the same video player on the HTC :good: and the same player on the OP3
I've tried resetting default apps. I've looked in the App settings but I can't work what app it is that's streams within the browser? Is it part of the OS?
Thank you in advance!
The only thing I've found on this... If you're watching in Firefox, you can tap on the video and it gives you the option to watch it on MX Player... but there's no way to set this as a default?

Try clearing the stock "Video Player" apps' defaults in its info page in settings>apps

There's no stock video player listed under apps, well there is, but that's for stand alone saved videos. I got in touch with Oneplus today and they said there's no option to choose within the browser... The guy said that I should suggest it for an update, which I did.
Firefox does let you press on the video and choose to open it in MX, but there's no way to set that as a default... Has to be done each time - bit of a pain.

Hmm.. Maybe gallery as my phone has a separate app for the video player so you can open like gallery and only see videos... Try clearing gallery defaults

Tried that too and it didn't work. Thanks for your replies :good:
I'm going to try another ROM (Resurrection) for now anyway, hopefully there won't be an issue :good:
