Screen Shots - HTC EVO 3D

Is there any app that works well to get screen shots with the 3D?

Yea qtadb will do it. Its a GUI of adb
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

Until root...full root...you'll have to use ADB to get shots...

with temp root u can use dropcap from the market and with no root i think theres one call shootit or something like that but it's like 5 bucks... search the market for "screenshot" most will say root required i think theres one that doesn't.

That app is a sham. You still need a comp to actually take the shot.

Only ways I know of is to root or you could try Sideload Wonder Machine.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
go to the market and download
SQlite Editor (it's like $2.99, but this will take less than 15 minutes, so just refund it once you are finished)
once it is downloaded, make sure you have root access, and navigate to:
/system/etc/motorola/com.motorola.android.providers.settings/
in there you should see a file called settings.db
open that up with sqlite editor
once it's up, look until you find the line that says :
" force_only_market_apps" in it's own cell. to the direct right you will see (in it's own cell) the number 1
simply change the 1 to a 0
so it'll look like this
|force_only_market_apps | 0 |
Thanks guys ill do that. Looks like ill be rooting my phone tomorrow lol

rooting your phone is just too messy. just use sideload wonder machine. its an app that you run on your computer with your phone plugged in via debugging mode. then you just choose the apk to load from your computer, and it will install it. i used this to install gameloft's let's golf and gt racing motor academy and it runs perfectly fine, no rooting necessary.
Thanks for the help guys id rather not root the phone right now since its brand new and im perfectly fine with this froyo until gb is officially released.

Use Root Explorer (or another file explorer) to upload the .apk to your dropbox account. Then just dropbox it over to her phone. The app you're looking for will probably be in /data/app
Or you could just blu toot it right over with root explore. Of your not rooted you can still blu tooth it as well.
Locked & Loaded
The app bump works pretty well if the phones are in proximity.
BANG! from my shooter...
You don't even need root, use astro or es file manager back up that app, upload it to dropbox and share or just email the backup boom

Wouldn't work. Bump just sends the app's market link to the other phone. There's a appshare app that you can download that will work. You have to find it on the internet because it's not, and never will, be in the market because it'll be too easy to share paid apps.
Here's some info on AppShare by DamagedApps:
http://apps.talkandroid.com/apps/social/149819-com+damagedapps+appshare/
There's also this one that sends the apk directly to whomever you want to share with:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.yschi.MyAppSharer
What I've done is use Astro to find the app, then press and hold and press send. Ive sent one through Gmail.

3d Gallery working on {ROOTED} devices

MUST BE ROOTED
the gallery app that came with the phone is lets just say horrible so i asked in irc if anyone knew of an alternative to the stock gallery...riggsAndroid forwarded me a copy of the 3d gallery apk and it worked with a few modifications to the permission level! So with that being said and with his permission i am sharing this info with all of you.
MUST BE ROOTED
to install the app you will need to be rooted as this needs to either be pushed via adb or using rootexplorer... and you need root to modify the permissions to rw r r using root explorer. MUST BE ROOTED
I take no credit for this discovery other than being a test bunny to verify it's working status so please say thanks to riggsAndroid for providing me with the direction!
MUST BE ROOTED
I will host the APK as i am not sure if it falls under warez guidelines or not so enjoy!!!
MUST BE ROOTED
Can you use this gallery if your not rooted? Sorry could not help it.

On the stock gallery there is a setting that lets you connect straight to your Xbox. Haven't tried it yet though

I found out on the first day of having the phone that the stock gallery app was just horrible. I went to find the 3D gallery APK but just found it on the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cooliris.media&feature=search_result
It works fine on my Photon. No root needed.

Wow - you guys are right... when I go to the market link online I see the Photon is grayed out. I just installed it last week though through the market on my phone. Can you try to just look up "gallery" in the market and see if you can install it? It shows up as the first search result on my Photon.

That's the one... I think the issue is that if you try to install from the Market on the Web, it won't let you. If you look it up on the Market on your phone, you're fine.

I think that's what we're trying to straighten out. This thread was started by someone in order to get the 3D Gallery app on to our phones - -but the method requires ROOT. Myself and someone else have said there is a version of the 3D Gallery app on the market that will install on the Photon WITHOUT root if done from the phone's Market (not on the web).
However, there may be some confusion as to whether or not we are talking about the same app. I have used the stock Android 3D Gallery app before and the one I just DL'd and installed from the Market on to the Photon seems to be the same. If it is, then that would be the method to use since it does not require root. However, if the app referenced in the original topic/post is somehow different then I think we'd all like to know (since it requires a bit more work to install).

You do realize that developing apps isn't just something you can do in a few hours right? And those apps that get hundreds of thousands of downloads have entire companies behind them?

If I had an idea for an app that would get 100,000 downloads, why would I share it?
I know how to make apps, i have made quite a few for personal use. Because maybe they have a brilliant idea and they don't know how/can't code, we can team up.
I've always wanted to make a better First Responder app.
How about an app that steams movies from the pc while on the go..one that a lot cheaper than vlc direct and one that easier to set up
long time lurker... read search try again

I know you say you have enough, but here is a request I hope would be easy... An app that would allow a long press on the volume buttons to change tracks from the current music app in use. Example, I use power amp, the HTC music app, and doggcatcher for podcasts. But most roms I can only use long press for the HTC music app. If possible, I would be grateful.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
That isn't possible as an app, and even if it is, it would hog up a lot of battery running in the background, you would need a new rom or tweak to accomplish that
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
I would like for an app to top me off in the morning and make me a cup of coffee.
I would like to see an app like Boot manager, since is no longer supported and I personally have trouble making dual boot on my phone with that app (bot loops). I heard it has something to do with jb.
Model: Evo 3d GSM,
Rom: AOKP JB 4.2.1-- helicopter88,
Kernel: Anryl v57.
Can't really do that because I don't have an 3vo anymore

* Restore PRLs

PRL's can't be flashed in recovery, you need a program like qpst to do that, and as I said before my 3vo is gone, so no device specific stuff
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
I did not expect device specific or flashing PRL's in recovery I simply want QPST running and connecting to the device through root.

Titanium backup already does that and so does appbak and any other app backing up tool

No I meant without the need of root access. Titanium Backup without the root access is what I'm talking about. Not every user understands rooting. I'm talking about a simple app with a click of a button just like iCloud.
But I'm guessing save datas are stored in a rooting access required location am I right? If thats the case, then only Google can come up with something.
if you are still accepting ideas..
have you seen the google glass' video that says how it feels like to wear google glass?
try making something based on that model, like the camera viewfinder is our eye and we say to give commands. Let's say we speak "what's the weather" and it shows the weather in viewfinder just like it is shown in video. other features can also be implemented.

[Q] when will hangouts app be updated for AT&T.

Does anyone know when the hangouts app be update my so we can make video calls over network instead of just wifi only? Or does anyone know a workaround

There will have to be a workaround because AT7T doesn't believe in Net Neutrality

Though post 24 here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281818&page=3) looks semi-promising. We shall wait and see
And 25 sheds a little more light. Let me play
1.Get SQLight editor from the market
2. Get Root Explorer from the market.
3. use Root Explorer to browse to /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db and click on it
4. then click on “main”
5. Scroll down to gtalk_vc_wifi_only – highlight and hold
6. Press “Edit Record” and change the “value” to false instead of true
7. Reboot
I may be able to mod the .apk to do this, but in the meantime might be a good workaround (let us know if it works)
Yea i can't find this entry in gservices.db.. d'oh...forgot i fresh flashed yesterday and don't have hangouts installed. hang tight.. eh i still don't see gtalk_vc_wifi_only in gservices.db
