They say the good die young. - HTC EVO 3D

Well it was short lived. I got my EVO on lanch date and this after noon the unthinkable happened . I was showing my friend a picture and she fumbled the phone, droped on a concreteflor face down. We just looked at it for a couple of seconds in disbelief. I wjent to pick it up and it looked like this.

I dropped my 3vo on day 2 onto my concrete patio, it was about a 4 foot drop. Thankfully I had my hard rubberized case on it and not a scratch was made, not even to the case!

I've dropped mine, but luckily it was only a 2 ft drop or so and landed flat on it's back. I was pissed. First time I've dropped my phone in about 2 years, and it happens just a couple days after I get my 3D.

usually happens when we try to be the most careful

Ouch!!! Don't feel too bad. I dropped my launch day Evo 4G at work barely a week after having it & it looked just like that! Luckily your getting it replaced so quickly. Took me almost a month to get a replacement. They were sold out everywhere & Assurion couldn't keep them in stock. I did get a brand new one though, with all the accessories. Then 2 weeks before the 3D came out I dropped that one 4 floors down the elevator shaft at work. It's still there submerged in about a 1 1/2 ft of water & hydraulic oil. Lost phone, one of my 3500 Seidio batteries, extended case & my 32GB class 10. Talk about hurt! I still get tears thinking about it.

Just get it swapped out for another one. Guess it depends on where you purchased it, but I would go in..maybe towards the end of the day, or at a busy period, try to find the most chill looking employee who won't put your phone through a 160 point inspection, smile and hope they do not notice.
If that fails, and if it bothers you that much, add on the insurance.

Dumbest way you've broken your phone?

This is just a questionare in hopes that I'm not the only idiot who has done something retarded unintentionally and broke their phone. So I somehow thought that putting my phone under my halogen desk lamp on max would generate enough heat to remove the air bubbles from my newly installed ZAGG screen protector as the instructions say "heat will speed up the process." Well after about 20 minutes or so i picked up the phone and damn near burnt myself it was so hot. Dismantled it as quick as I could and let it cool for 45 minutes and of course melted the screen underneath the glass
Dropped my blackberry 8330 2 feet on fluffy carpet and cracked the screen in multiple spots pretty bad. Nothing before hand.

I sent an old Samsung flip phone on a journey through the washer and dryer late one night. I woke up wondering where my phone was and found it when I went to get my pants out of the dryer. Only phone I have owned that met an accidental demise that was the fault of a human or animal, it also led to my first smartphone, Treo 600.
I've never broken a phone. I tend to take really, really good care of my expensive toys.
The wife did wash and dry an LG env, but it never skipped a beat and still works to this day.
I placed my EVO 4g on top of the fridge in a rush. I didn't realize my EVO was half way on the freezer door till I opened it. Fell face down and shattered the s#&t out of the screen. I kind of deserved it for putting it up there in the first place.

If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, keep an eye on Ebay for bad esn phones. All you have to do is swap the motherboards.
My girl dropped her phone and shattered the screen last week. I found a nearly mint condition, completely in tact phone (minus motherboard and cover that has the hex/dex numbers) for $85, free shipping. I ordered it last Thursday, and got it Monday afternoon.
You can buy just the digitizer for around $70, but there's a lot more effort in changing the digitizer versus just swapping motherboards.

Personally I would buy the digitizer and replace it. But that is because I don't have insurance on my phone! If it sounds scary tearing the phone apart just pay the $150(I thought it was 199). Next time make sure to put it in a heavy duty case and keep it in the holster at all times!

Or better yet, buy through Best Buy and get their warranty. Best $9.99/month I've ever spent. I got my EVO the day it became available and dropped it off the roof of my father's RV just under a month later. They replaced my phone with a brand new one even after I told them I dropped it about 12 feet flat on its screen. Best Buy has no deductible and don't care how it got damaged.
I now have the Otterbox Commuter case but at the height I was, I don't even think the defender case would have saved it.

how bad is it, you can always claim something else is wrong with it. Where did you buy it from?
It's very small. I was able to kind of hide the clear aluminum showing with a black marker. I also just noticed I have 3 dead pixels so maybe that would be enough if they don't really notice the scrapes. I got it from an official AT&T store.

Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Personally I dropped mine and it got scuffed a little too, so much that it bothered me. I was within 14 when it fell so I took it back and told them that it was to fragile along the edges, got way to hot (130°) which I screenshot and the headphone jack doesn't work well with FM radio and he said no problem and replaced it and that was that. It was fraud on my end, and I paid good money for a phone that I wanted to keep in mint condition. Haven't dropped the second one yet but I have gaps, which isn't too bad. My advise, go for it and it isnt fraud of there is actually a problem with it anyway.

I ended up trading it in and getting a silver one. I was completely straight with the rep and showed him the scratches which he thought was no big deal and were barely even noticeable. I had to point out the scratch locations since he couldn't even see them at first. I showed him the dead pixels and also the power button which had this awful click sound which drove me crazy. I just had to pay a restocking fee and was good to go.
