SetCPU 2.2.4 Supporting EVO3D - HTC EVO 3D

Seems like SetCPU 2.2.4 came out today with more support for our EVO 3D. What I noticed right away is that it keeps requesting superuser access every once in a while and that has helped to not lose superuser access after a period of time.

My titanium backup software works with SU but this won't see it. Very odd.

Giving it a try now.

What the deuce? That link is to a really old thread... ??
On a side note, I still manage to lose root after a couple hours even with setcpu going. However, the values I chose before I lost root remain in place and scaling still works as it should, so no complaints here.

It's old because it was created years ago, but SetCPU is constantly being upated. The first post of that thread was just updated yesterday:

Updated app worked finally. Market version still does not.

Negative we can't oc 2.3.4 yet

Has anyone tried the method we used to OC back when all we had was temp root?
Its still a different phone. We don't have kernel source as far as I have read and that means no oc. Be patient and stop whining about the sensation having things first.

If that helped you out hit the thanks button.
My "DU4L C0R3 SH00T3R" shot you down in 3D! -Security Off-
so is that method the only way to overclock?
I'm having a lot of trouble with set cpu and WTSB ROM on my 2.3.4 with 1.5 hboot. It worked for a while but since i went to WTSB it displays 1026mhz as my cpu speed and that's not even teh speed of stock.
I've reflashed twice now with the same luck.
@jeffbinder ....did you noticed the date of that last post??...as of your issue, does your kernel supports oc? i see you are using hboot 1.5, have you followed the ¨Specific¨ way to flash roms with kernels/kernels for us(hb1.5 users)??? what i mean by that is did you used the Image Flash GUI apk or the fastboot method?? because thats the only way(that i know of) hb1.5 htc unlock users can flash kernels...

I use fastboot on the computer. The rom flashed over fine and everything runs but now my speed just isn't up to stock anymore. It's so weird. The phone acts normal so i'm thinking maybe a bug in set cpu? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it a few times.
I put it back to stock and everything is fine so i know my flash is good. This isn't my first rodeo with rooting. i do all my friends' devices and i never seem to run into any issues from samsung, motorola or htc until this new evo 3d i just bought. My old evo worked great.
BTW, the last post is only 6 months old. That's not "ancient" in the history of forums by anymeans. It was one of 3 threads in the last year about set cpu.

i wish i was trolling. I've been a member for just shy of a year but no need to post since none of this is all that complicated and i never ran into issues. I didn't have enough posts to reply in the ROM thread but i do now so i posted it to see if someone there might know what's up.
@jeffbinder
Got to SetCPU clear all and uninstall, reboot, install ¨SystemTuner¨, try that app for OC. See if that works better, most roms/kernels have been using a script for OC called OCDaemon(or something like that...am kinda of new to these terms/info).
Edit: Don't multi thread for the same issue, so it is easier to provide you with help.
thanks!
i installed that program, it showed my cpu was set lower so i increased it to 1188mhz then i uninstalled that program and reinstalled set cpu. Now set cpu shows my 1188mhz speed.
I normally don't multipost but after almost a year i didn't have enough posts to post my problem in the dev forums for that ROM. sorry

[Q] Add a shortcut to the 'My Apps' section of the Android Market to my homescreen?

I seem to be addicted to checking if newer versions of my installed apps are available on the market (SGS2). A direct shortcut to the 'My Apps' section of the Android market would save a few seconds each day if it's available.
I'm currently testing all available activities listed by adw.launcher's custom shortcut list.
Well, none of the already checked ones seem to be the desired shortcut...
Most of them don't do anything and some return an error message.
My "testrig" is a rooted Desire HD running on BlackICE ROM with ADW.Launcher EX.
The Market version is 2.3.6.
I will post an update after I have checked all activities
(as well as a newer market version) listing all responses I got from the activities.
Maybe it'll help.

I don't think its possible, but it would be a nice addition to android.

LOL,i got my first android on 15th june this year and within 2 days i rooted it,within 15 days bricked it (well,almost...),within 2 months reached the same condition at which i got it repaired and got it working myself, and after 4 months i finally got a custom ROM on it !
And i'm (just) 17 !!!
Well, creating shortcuts to the activities from Market 2.3.6 and 3.2.0 didn't work.
The only working shortcut was the assetbrowser (Market Homescreen).
Anything else gave me either nothing or an error message, so no luck here.
No...
It won't work ATM.

Unlocked bootloader... Setcpu won't hold

Well, been unlocked nd perm rooted for a day now. But since I have been, Setcpu constantly ask for superuser request every 5 to 10 minutes .. I don't know what to do to fix it.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
Tried to re-perm root, uninstall setcpu, use an old backup through titanium...i have no clue what else to do
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
Have you tried fixing permissions through recovery? Give that a shot if not.
That I haven't tried yet, due to the fact that I'm kinda weary of flashing anything else, considering that Setcpu, or maybe it might be superuser, isn't working correctly. I don't want to be 24 hrs rooted, and then bricked.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
If you have the stock kernal still, it is prop protected. U gotta flash an un protected version of the stock or use Ziggy's amazing moded kernal
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
Rooted, unlocked, set cpu installed since with no issues on stock kernel. Have changed governors, min/max speeds, rebooted, etc., and it is still sticking.
Thanks to all, I just uninstalled Setcpu and reinstalled with a different version from the xda forums..... Its holding a lil better.. uh... As I write this it asked for permissions twice. I have to figure something else out. I don't wanna flash a New kernal until I figure this out. Maybe its superuser...idk
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
Funny I'm having the same issue. I'm unlocked, perm rooted, flashed ziggys. Setcpu asks for superuser while I'm playing around on my phone. Did everything by the book. Don't get what's going on. Just gonna uninstall setcpu for now.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
I was having the same issue. Installing Rom Manager and using the "Fix Permissions" utility fixed it. And unlike everything else in Rom Manager you don't need Clockwork Recovery to run it. It will take a while to run though, and remember to restart the phone after it finishes. Hope it works for everyone else
EDIT:
Spoke too soon. It seems to be working better, but it's still asking for root every now and then.
I'm starting to think it he noting to do with Setcpu, and maybe either superuser, or maybe my permroot, is cutting in and out, sorta like a temp root.

Thanks alot ministroni! I think that did it! Not one "permission" notice since the going through Rom manager and selecting "fix permissions". I always do a fix permission when flashing a Rom or kernal, but when I first perm root. And to have it acting so weird, I was hesitant. I didn't want to go andscrew it up even more especiall since I didn't have a recovery installed. But you were right. Thanks a whole lot! Much appreciated!
Edit: to good to be true. It went back to its old ways. I'm stumped. I installed Amonra and did a band b-up. Now Setcpu is back to not holding with superuser.

HTC launcher has to reload after exiting apps! Please help!

Is anyone else having this issue? Whenever I exit an app and go to the home screen, I have to wait for the home screen to load up again. EVERY TIME!
Could it be the stock task manager closing the launcher? Also can I put it on the ignore list, because I didn't see an option for that.
If anyone knows how to get rid of this inconvenience, please let me know. Thanks.

That used to happen on my EVO Shift all the time after gingerbread was released. Decreasing the number of widgets helped back then. Hopefully this is an issue that will be addressed as I have seen it mentioned a couple times.
To fix it on the Shift if you were rooted you could download an app called AutoKiller Memory Optimizer and change some setting. I can't remember since all the custom roms I used made the change. Maybe it would work in this case as well. I think the memory management section is what helped. The presets HTC uses are aggressive I think and kill off the Launcher to free up more memory before it's really needed. The app isn't really a task killer but more of an app you can use to tweak the point at which the phone starts freeing up memory.
It's happened to me after using the phone for a while. Noticed this after WiFi at home is not connected and been using the world's fastest way to get frustrated, using 3g service. What I've done is restart the phone and works excelent. Don't think that's he right answer but it's been working.

My phone randomely does this as well...I dont understand why since it has plenty of horsepower and I dont run any heavy widgets..they def need to release an update to address these issues as well as the multitasking issues..two things that my older evos had no issue with
One app that bugged my phone was McAfee security, uninstalled and runs more smoothly. Have had all 3 EVO phones and same thing, one app running on background takes up to much memory.

there is a fix for this in the one x forums somewhere. you have to modify and recompile some system files if you are rooted. I am not rooted, and I hate this. sense 4 is seriously hog-party sloppy
there is a way to fix it if you are rooted,
what you are doing in esense is keeping the launcher from being dropped in the menory and making it a pryority app
In terminal emulator:
type
Code:
su
Then type
Code:
echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop
and enter
Then reboot.

Been a known and frustrating problem with sense for some time.
Take a look at the last post on this thread is you want all the links that discuss this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680020
Problem started on my OG EVO a few months ago and was right back on the LTE. From reading the threads it looks like it is worse on the LTE for a lot of people. I did get a response from HTC to a Facebook post about this, they suggested I take out the battery and wait a bit then put it back in! LOL
What stopped me from going nuts about it and perhaps returning the phone was the Nova launcher which has stopped the problem completely.
Rooting and tweaking of course can solve it as well, but I'm wanting to hold off on that for a bit until we see if any major OTA will be coming out.

@midmofan I really don't want a custom launcher. I'm probably just gonna unlock the bootloader and start flashing ROMs. I wanted to wait so i didnt have to use HTCDev, but this issue makes me not even want to use my phone anymore.
