Make sure you have the latest version of SetCPU - 2.24 is the first version to support the Qualcomm CPU family found in the Rezound.

Yeah that's the one I had. Im trying incredicontrol from chad now. You can lower voltages and set cpu with it off you're using ziggy's kernel

try removing setcpu, then putting it back on. But if your going to undervolt skip it and go with System Tuner or incrediControl.

Hey, lovin my TB! recently after returning from TB back to fresh rooted froyo, everything's been ok. Then I flashed bamf 1.7 fine. Stripped version getting shut offs, not reboots.. I don't notice till I reach in my holster and the HTC logo appears. I thought it might be the rom so I flashed cm7.0.0 RC. Still getting them. Is anyone else getting these? This is serious considering i almost woke up late today after setting my alarm last night only to find my phone is turned off.

I'd start by checking kernel settings. Too low won't wake. Too high will cause a shut off. Not all processors respond well to extreme over/under clocking and under voting.

I actually have not touched the kernel nor the radio.. but I'm wanting Netflix so I'm going to have to flash the gb radio I think. As for the kernel it is the one that came with cm7, the highest clocking is around 1ghz. I guess ill show around for a decent kernel.

Most likely the dumb radio then..last couple radio releases have reboot issues depending on the person...seems your an unlucky one too.

Good news! I'm too tired to be farkin around with adb right now lol
Do you feel a boost in speed?
mine was showing only 1188 when i first installed WTSB rom and it wouldn't let me overclock like it said the included kernel would. So i reinstalled it and now my set cpu tells me max cpu is 1026mhz.
i've uninstalled, rebooted, installed, etc, multiple times with no change.

So the kernel that everyone says is fine with the WTSB doesn't work with my phone as the other 3 kernels that everyone says are perfectly fine don't work as well.
so the next guess is what since i've tried 4 kernels so far with the same results?
also, i've been around for a while but never posted so i can't post in the dev forum yet. This isn't my first rooting rodeo but i'm new to the evo 3d. I've never had problems like this on any of the other platforms i've used.

Frankly, I don't see the benefit to overclocking anyways... much less putting in as much effort as that guy is to do it...
SetCPU isn't going to take well with a temp root... and you can't over clock without a custom kernel (unless you really want to **** your phone up). Just s-off, root, install CWM via ROM Manager, boot into recovery, flash a custom ROM followed by a custom OC/UC kernel and GAPPS. Also, make sure to set your profiles correctly. Do it right and you'll have amazing battery life AND a phone pushing 2GHz clock speed.

so is that method the only way to overclock?
I'm having a lot of trouble with set cpu and WTSB ROM on my 2.3.4 with 1.5 hboot. It worked for a while but since i went to WTSB it displays 1026mhz as my cpu speed and that's not even teh speed of stock.
I've reflashed twice now with the same luck.
@jeffbinder ....did you noticed the date of that last post??...as of your issue, does your kernel supports oc? i see you are using hboot 1.5, have you followed the ¨Specific¨ way to flash roms with kernels/kernels for us(hb1.5 users)??? what i mean by that is did you used the Image Flash GUI apk or the fastboot method?? because thats the only way(that i know of) hb1.5 htc unlock users can flash kernels...

I use fastboot on the computer. The rom flashed over fine and everything runs but now my speed just isn't up to stock anymore. It's so weird. The phone acts normal so i'm thinking maybe a bug in set cpu? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it a few times.
I put it back to stock and everything is fine so i know my flash is good. This isn't my first rodeo with rooting. i do all my friends' devices and i never seem to run into any issues from samsung, motorola or htc until this new evo 3d i just bought. My old evo worked great.
BTW, the last post is only 6 months old. That's not "ancient" in the history of forums by anymeans. It was one of 3 threads in the last year about set cpu.

i wish i was trolling. I've been a member for just shy of a year but no need to post since none of this is all that complicated and i never ran into issues. I didn't have enough posts to reply in the ROM thread but i do now so i posted it to see if someone there might know what's up.
@jeffbinder
Got to SetCPU clear all and uninstall, reboot, install ¨SystemTuner¨, try that app for OC. See if that works better, most roms/kernels have been using a script for OC called OCDaemon(or something like that...am kinda of new to these terms/info).
Edit: Don't multi thread for the same issue, so it is easier to provide you with help.
thanks!
i installed that program, it showed my cpu was set lower so i increased it to 1188mhz then i uninstalled that program and reinstalled set cpu. Now set cpu shows my 1188mhz speed.
I normally don't multipost but after almost a year i didn't have enough posts to post my problem in the dev forums for that ROM. sorry
I have a rooted photon with no custom rom just rooted would this app help me to save battery can anybody testify?
Sent from the best MoPho
If you underclock the phone it will save battery life. And you should be able to do that, however, I know you have to be unlocked with the custom kernal to overclock, so the same may apply to underclocking but if not. You can save some battery life with "ROM Toolbox" setting the CPU to Powersave and lowering the Max CPU. I do it generally when I'm sleeping. My two cents.
As long as a kernel doesn't have a perf lock I'm sure it can be underclocked. With SetCPU you can set profiles, so I could see the chance of saving battery if you were to set a screen off profile to run at the lowest mhz your phone will tolerate. I've done this on both my Hero and Evo when I had them and it worked wonders. I have yet to try with my Photon as I just got it yesterday and want to see how stock performs so I have something to compare to. I say try it out and give us some results! lol..
Good idea and trying out now
.....will be back.

I don't think the stock kernal supports cpu modding. I could be wrong though.
Sent from my Photon via XDA
Underclocking does not work with the stock kernel. You'll need to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernels to both over/underclock.
Yep after one day of testing my battery was dying quicker! Uninstalled I might unlock it but losing 4G to me is not worth it right now.

In the Dev section, I believe there was a thread with some stock tweaks, where you didn't have to flash a rom or unlock or any of that jazz. You might try looking there. I know some of that stuff was kinda cool.

theres a app in the market called system panel lite it shows you the process of both cores and the photon does underclock while idle on its own the app also shows the cpu usage in real time my stock kernal went to around 246 mhz with that app running and just fyi the other core is only used ondemand..
It appears to be working just fine on mine. I'm also using the 198 leak and rooted.
So, with source released I figured I would post a kernel. Info is below. Pretty straight forward.
Also, you will not find any cockyness here. I only do this for fun and not everyone can be perfect.
Any issues with this kernel, please give full details of what the issue is or I can't fix it.
HTC Unlocked:
Flash zip in recovery
Boot into fastboot
Pull boot.img from zip
type 'fastboot flash boot path/to/img'
Reboot
S-Off:
Flash zip in recovery
Features:
HW keys working but not backlit. Will be on top of list to fix
OC to 1.99GHz. --Thanks LeeDroid
Governors: smoothass, smartass, interactive, conservative, userspace, powersave, ondemand, and performance: also more to come
CIFS and TUN added
Tweaked Smoothass, Smartass, Smartassv2 Governor-- Thanks adrynalyne and LeeDroid
Added safe MIN/MAX on boot --Thanks LeeDroid
Many other things coming. This is just an original release to get you flashing fiends a fix.
I also take requests. If there is something you want to be added please let me know. This will be a community kernel.

I uploaded a new version. If you notice you can't change min/max voltages. Thats because of perflock being enabled and scaling frequencies missing. I uploaded a new version but it has the same name since both were built today. So, just redownload it and flash it. Now you will be able to change frequencies like normal.

try asking the dev of CypherRom. I havent updated to the latest version but one of the older versions had the backlight working and when I flashed your kernel over it the backlight was working and were the buttons.
