Barcode scanner by Zxing team works. Try taking it out of 3d? Although with that app it does 2d no matter what the switch is on.

I use Google Goggles n Savvy Shopper with no problems at all

I've got Barcode Scanner, Google Shopper and Google Goggles and all of them work flawlessly.

maps for GPS?

I'm gonna throw this out and see what happens.
I just got Efficasoft GPS Utilities for my wizard. So far I like it, but it doesn't come with maps loaded on them. Which is the only thing that bothers me about it.
On their website, they say you can make maps using a google maps screen capture. but the biggest map I can generate is a 5 mile radius and that's no good to me.
Anyone have any ideas on getting some decent maps to work with it?

Jellybean Apk's

I was just looking on google for Jellybean apk's and found the HTC Desire S thread and decided to try out some of the new jellybean apk's to see if they would work. I am currently downloading an offline map of my hometown so I know at least maps works. If anyone else wants the apk's the link is here.

I will be testing more as I go, but i'm more of a lurker than a poster so I won't be updating this topic. I just didn't see anyone posting that they tried the apk's yet with stock ICS. If someone has posted this already, just remove my topic and i'm sorry.
Edit: Finding out most of the apk's don't work. Maps does though.
Nice find! I can't believe it didn't occur to me to look sooner! Thank you!

Good find...
That's pretty cool about the offline maps.
via eVoLTE.
I just tried out the offline maps to no avail. I turned off all data and left gps on. Enetered in a destination within the offline map area and it just said I needed an active connection. :/ So much for the only reason I was getting the Nexus 7. Gps for my car.

The maps on the play store actually allows offline maps... Some of these don't work though. (Just tried Gmail)

maps has had that option for a while now, but it has been a "google labs" option.
now, with JellyBean its coming out of "labs" beta and being integrated into the app.

You have to have an active data connection to dl the map you want to be cached for offline use you cannot kill your data and then search a map. Hope that makes sense

While you are correct, I believe he said he downloaded a portion of the map, and THEN killed data. The problem arose when he tried to search for an address inside the area--it seems searching still requires a network connection.

[TIP] Miss Bing Map?

For those who miss easy access to Bing Maps on WP8, I found this great little app that allows direct access to Bing Maps (not website but the app on the phone):
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/maps/9e8f8fc5-da17-4b7f-80f3-2dc334de8dac
Works a treat on my 820
Excellent return of Bing.
BUT
BUT
BUT
It messes with Nokia Drive. Nokia Drive does not get any access to GPS and basically screws itself in giving out directions.

Nokia Drive+ beta found GPS for me just fine. Was Bing maps still running in the background? Or do you mean Drive+ can't run in the background with bing maps in foreground?
What do you mean it messes with Nokia drive, from Bing maps, you tap directions and it opens Nokia maps with directions

I installed this App. Loved it.
Then wifey sent me an address on my text message. I clicked on the address, then "drive". It did not work.
so I undid my last action viz. uninstall Maps app and then Drive worked fine.

Weird. Working for me. Now if I could just get mp3s to play from websites I'd be happy.

[HELP]Google Maps

Running on 7" Almost AOSP V. 2. Everything is excellent but I can't get Google Maps working. It's incredibly sluggish, on-map text is glitchy and it's essentially unusable.
Is there a known fix for this?

Google MAPS will not work on an Amazon operating system - I don't believe it will work on any of the thor-gapps roms. The API will not render properly, and is not licensed to work on Amazon o.s.'s. It will work on Capsjuste's AOSP 4.2.2-0 android ROM , which does not use Thor.
However, if you have access to the Amazon Appstore, you can try the 99-cent Tab for Google Maps app.

I don't have access to the amazon store. Any idea what the next best thing is on the Play Store?
I have Google maps working just fine in my 8.9" Fire running the stock OS with all the Google apps installed.
Obviously it doesn't work as well as the copy in my Note 3 without the onboard GPS, but it will find a location and map a route just fine.
To piggyback on this, does Zillow use the Google maps app? I downloaded Zillow from amazon before configuring gapps and it worked fine. I installed gapps then tried it and it was screwed up like Google maps.

Does maps.google.com work for you on the kindle? I don't have mine readily available to test, but since there's no GPS and you need a wireless connection to access maps anyway, wouldn't the website only be marginally less convenient than the app for this particular device?
