I use this one BackCountry Navigator , doesn't have 3D but it's very useful and you can use it offline.

Hi there, does any body know of an app for gps navigation and maps that doesn't need data to work. Useful if you got lost without coverage.
Thanks

I use Google Maps, it's storing maps in automatic since a few updates ago.
If you have cached at least the zone you're in with most levels of zoom you won't have any problem.
If not Maverick and Atlas (for pc, to create and store maps) is a valid alternative
If you were asking for a way to find your position withouth having a map cached in your sd and withouth data connection, i think you won't find any application able to do so.
i use navdroyd or mapdroyd, the former has routing while the latter has none
OruxMaps can use offline maps. I use finnish maps from retkikartta.fi but those are probably useless to you.
Thanks for all the replies. Will try each one and see which works
For me

NDrive works fine.
I use it a lot!
There's a lot of links at Google which guide you to install and use that.
So, I'm planning on traveling through Europe this summer.
I would like to know which app is great for offline use to find my way through the various cities. (walking directions, i wont be driving a car.)
It doesn't have to be offline, but preferably, considering the data prices.
Thanks in advance

I think Google Maps v5.6 is the best. You can download map cache of EU (take a lot of time) and use it in offine mode. Or u can use online mode, Google maps in x8 download map cache very fast, and it won't cost u a lot of price..

How do i download the map cache?
I was just looking on google for Jellybean apk's and found the HTC Desire S thread and decided to try out some of the new jellybean apk's to see if they would work. I am currently downloading an offline map of my hometown so I know at least maps works. If anyone else wants the apk's the link is here.

I will be testing more as I go, but i'm more of a lurker than a poster so I won't be updating this topic. I just didn't see anyone posting that they tried the apk's yet with stock ICS. If someone has posted this already, just remove my topic and i'm sorry.
Edit: Finding out most of the apk's don't work. Maps does though.
Nice find! I can't believe it didn't occur to me to look sooner! Thank you!

Good find...
That's pretty cool about the offline maps.
via eVoLTE.
I just tried out the offline maps to no avail. I turned off all data and left gps on. Enetered in a destination within the offline map area and it just said I needed an active connection. :/ So much for the only reason I was getting the Nexus 7. Gps for my car.

The maps on the play store actually allows offline maps... Some of these don't work though. (Just tried Gmail)

maps has had that option for a while now, but it has been a "google labs" option.
now, with JellyBean its coming out of "labs" beta and being integrated into the app.

You have to have an active data connection to dl the map you want to be cached for offline use you cannot kill your data and then search a map. Hope that makes sense

While you are correct, I believe he said he downloaded a portion of the map, and THEN killed data. The problem arose when he tried to search for an address inside the area--it seems searching still requires a network connection.
Hey all, this is my first post on this forum. I bought a Dell Venue 7 for a tablet install into my vehicle to replace the radio. The tablet is in and everything is working but the navigation! When I try to input my route, google maps just sits in a constant "searching for location" state! I've searched this site and googled a ton and can't return any solution. I've checked the location services and tried my luck with some apps promising to fix gps location service, but no luck. The tablet is stock 4.4. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Test your GPS : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=de
I tested it using the app. It is only able to see one satellite at best. I downloaded "tetherGPS" and it is able to lock onto the position, but it won't display real-time position. It won't track it, I mean. Really irritating when trying to navigate because it won't track past my front door!

I have a Dell Venue 8 and gps work fine. I think you need internet to use google map. If you want to use in your car without internet then you need to download free or paid offline navigation app. BTW, I use Sygic offline map and it work very good.

Could you link to it? There are a few apps called flygps on the play store
Bumping since it has been moved to another section.
Is there a solution to fake the GPS in Tinder? E.g. the app Fake GPS location works for Maps but not for Tinder. The Xposed Module Fake My GPS also didn't work
