RE: Sorry mods just saw someone else made similar thread earlier in General in reference to GSB. U can remove this if needed
I have several other Android devices for dev and play purposes but mainly just my Eris, which is my primary, I have lots of problems with XDA FCs and not loading the server correctly. Does anyone else have this issue? Or have an idea why. It really doesn't matter which ROM. I'm using either. I don't have premium yet, every time I go to upgrade I'm broke but definitely gonna upgrade. But that shouldn't affect it.

Which rom are you running? I've had no issues using the XDA app with KaosFroyo v39 & GSB v3.5 & 3.6, but I saw that another user is having issues while running GSB 3.7??
Well now I'm running TheROM latest update no problem but various others including GSB various versions, Gin-sen-tazz, MacROM, I've been flashing a lot and even after JIT enabled for a while I get slow XDA. Not so much the past couple days on TheROM

I was just wondering what is the best froyo Rom for the Eris? And are there any I don't have to do a wipe to install? The idea of wiping makes me nervous.

you have a lot of reading to do
you have to read the rules and the info you need are all at the top
epically where it says to "read first"
im not trying to be mean but i read when i was a newbie
You must always wipe between roms. You don't want any nasty clingy bits from other roms.
Also my favorite flavour of froyo is Kaos.

Yeah....im pretty sold on kaosfroyo! I've tried them all but it is what suits me. Truthfully its all about what fits you. Just gotta try em out.

Always wipe between flashes of different ROMs. I use Charmin for maximum comfort.
There isn't really a "best" Froyo ROM, they all have their "features."
KaosFroyo is not themed, but he does add in little bits of his own flavor to the ROM (he includes AutoKiller, last I checked, and the Droid X keyboard, among other things).
CELBFroyo is as stock CyanogenMod 6 (Froyo, but better, also called CM6) as you're gonna get. He likes to leave his ROM with a pure Vanilla taste and leave customization up to the users.
Nonsensikal and CyanogenTazz both offer pre-themed versions of CM6 (I THINK Cyanogen Tazz still offers themes) and, as far as I know, pretty close to stock CM6 beyond that (you'll have to read those threads to find out more).
As a footnote, please, just read the threads. It makes everybody happy, and you'll probably understand things in the Android dev world better for discovering and reading the material for yourself.
Thanks guys. If I have to wipe do you recommend a way to back up my apps and settings then restore them after I flash the froyo rom? Also are any of the Roms that were mentioned more stable than the others as of now?

Titanium backup can be used to backup/restore apps. As for stable all frayo roms are very stable, I run kaos Frayo
I always go back to CELB. Solid performance and stable everyday rom. The only issues I have come across are known issues with all Eris Froyos. Current 2.6 release, the only issue I know of is the camera to gallery back to camera issue which I've been able to work around by replacing the 3D gallery with the old 2D gallery. (Note: the little preview box shortcut does not work with 2D, but menu shortcut works fine, coming and going)

I use App Brain to sync my apps, and then after I wipe and flash a new ROM, I just install App Brain first and it pretty much does the rest of the work for me. The biggest pain after that is just signing into everything the first time; that alone takes me another half hour.
And you do want to wipe, especially if you're changing ROMs, not just moving to the next version. Not doing so is just asking for trouble.
You have to wipe, from my understanding.I flashed KaosFroyo v34 on my Eris and when I went into recovery, I just installed the .zip. It finished and rebooted. The screen was loading and I saw the "Android" across the screen. For 20 Minutes. I figured It froze so I just took the battery out and then booted again. Same thing. So I booted back into recovery, Wiped (I was a little nervous to, Always nervous with your first! ) So all the data cleared and I re-flashed the rom. It rebooted and VIOLA!! Worked like a champ. My interpretation is that if you do not wipe completely, there are still some saved data for your stock firmware, and it loops. So yes, wipe.
In my opinion, I think KaosFroyo v34 is the best. Again, that is my opinion, and If you happen to want to jailbreak a PS3, well, that is the rom that those DEV's used. Its faster than 2.1, has better battery life (make sure you clear battery data), and it comes preloaded with a bunch of goodies!!
I know this has probably been repeated numerous times in the past but the roms change very often and so i was just wondering what you guys thought of as the best gingerbread rom. I'm currently on MIUI 360 and i like it so far. I havent tried many of the newer nightlies for cyanogen though so idk what those perform like.
Cm7 is best stable rom without gps! Especially with nightlies with rom manager premium

I used Simply Honey 3.6 and was extremely happy with it. Super fast and stable. I had to reluctantly give it up for Froyo though because I use my GPS too much.

I couldn't find this anywhere else, so heres my question. When I switch to bamf gingermix 2 beta 5 and 6 trying both radio versions pandora runs slow, loads slow switches songs slowly and stalls. Anyone else seen this issue?

Same issue here on Gingervitis 1.0 final.

Do you have the latest update to Pandora? I believe it is 1.5.9. It seems to not have an many issues with skipping, lag, etc.
If you don't have it, download it from the market and see if it helps.
This is an ongoing issue. I had done a lot of testing and 1.5.6 actually was the best performer for me for awhile but it eventually started to lag. 1.5.9 seems to be somewhat better but I still have about a 10-15 second lag between songs. I put a 1.5.6 apk down in the development forum in the bamf 2.0.5 thread.
Ya, 1.5.9 so far has been working the best for me. It still pauses between songs every now and then, but still better than before.
Thanks for the replies. I have tried both versions listed with no luck. Guess I will just stick with bamf 1.7 until we get a radio that works with it.

Ya, it's kinda wonky at best. Pandora's stand is that they don't support "non standard" systems on phones. So until GB is officially released for the T-bolt, we probably won't see any type of fix for it.
Hopefully soon.
No problems here - I am running MR2.5 with The Perfect Storm 1.5 and the latest version of Pandora
I have been following workshed's GSB thread religiously. I love his rom and was wondering about the CyanogenMod release. I thought GSB was the CyanogenMod release. Can someone help clear up my confusion? Are they the same rom?
The GSB ROM is based on the Cyanogen Mod, but it is not CM. IIRC, Droid Eris isn't even on the list of officially supported devices for Cyanogen. Of course, I haven't checked in a while, so it might actually be on the list now.
It's on the list now...it is not the same as gsb

Thank you. I thought I was losing my mind. I really love GSB 4.0 but I am waiting on a Condemned update to try it out.
Condemned is out. (Title not changed - link on last few pages)
Gsb is waiting fir a rotation bug to get fixed with nightlies I think.

Thanks! I saw that and since there is a rotation bug I figured I would wait till they get that worked out first.
If you didn't see it, condemned soul posted a patch for the rotation issue

Is anyone having trouble running Tunein radio after switching to an ics rom. It used to work perfect but after I started using ice passion it cuts out every 10 minutes on the dot. I did a Google search but nothing has panned out because most of the problems are answered for ginger bread.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
It seems to be working fine here, I just installed ICS today, and I haven't experienced any problems yet. I'm using TuneIn Pro.
Can you be more specific about the problem your having, because I honestly don't really understand the problem...
I'm running it on ICS Passion 10.6 without problems.
Going into hour #2 right now uninterrupted...
Any chance you are running juice defender or a similar app?
