I'm sitting on a webex with sprint and HTC. They just announced honey comb with sense UI for the sprint EVO view in the near future.. I didn't start recording the conference until after he said it.. but it will be asked again and I will upload the q/a when we are done

Nice Job...
Keep us posted
Thanks for the info. Please let us know if they mention a timeline. Oh yea, and if they mention anything about unlocking it.
give me a second I am going to rip the recording from the webex - I missed the entire initial parts about the evo 3d and the view - and started at some corp information.. but I am going to just cut out the q/a clip from the webex so that you guys can hear it first hand from HTC themselves..
Ok guys -- here we go..
here is the full q/a from todays webex -
sorry it took so long - had to get a amr -> mp3 encoder.. then an editor.. +studying for nitrox certification..
anyhow..
I cut out a few names of people talking .. left all the important information.. if anyone wants the rest of the boring deck let me know.. the audio was useless without the webex video..
** note attachment fixed - full audio from q/a - bootloader question starts around @ 3:00 **

So, having listened to this audio the main answers seem to be:
Bootloaders: HTC working on process to enable unlock. This won't be done as global update, instead it seems you will need to request your device to be unlocked and HTC will work with you to enable this. However, they did stress that this will invalidate your warranty.
Honeycomb: Continuing the line of coming soon. The HTC representative did however say that they are agressively working on this and are keen to get it to market. His understanding is that the aim is to have released it at latest by early autumn (early fall), although in the next breath he also says that he's heard internal rumours that it could be even as close as the end of the month.
Iain.
Did they mention any kind of timeline on the bootloaders such as fall, so end of the year, next year and so forth?

Please. That was just a nice way of saying "shut the hell up". HTC will do as they please (Thunderbolt, Sensation, EVO 3D). It's a shame and I hope they realize their mistake when they see sales figures while I enjoy my Galaxy S2. I am sure there will be TONS of support for it considering how few developers will be messing with the EVO 3D.

hi raskal,
please add it to xtc clip if you can. that woud be a big step for me as a dev and to everyone who has a clip or know where to get clip service.
i´m nearly done with the flyer and want to give it back, cause google and htc wont keep there promisse to update the device as fast as possible to android 3.0.
with root and s-off it is a step near to get this before a possible or unpossible update will show up.
if you need something from the rom dump or else feel free to write me a pm.
i will keep the flyer until monday or tuesday. than i have to give it back, cause of 14 days test period. after that i have to see if i order it again or wait until those big buts will find a conclusion with those 7" devices and honeycomb.
but if you will support it with you xtc clip i will keep it and start developing and rom cooking for the device. else it will go back to o2 and i will wait for HTC´S 10.1" device or something else.
regards
I'm not sure what the clip is all about but I will definitly donate to anyone that gets root on the flyer.

As the Hebrew RTL as always does not work well without running the HebFix file, I have not much to do with this Break I have bout last week.
The HebFix must have Root.... To Run.
There is already a post like this ... but i would donate a 50 too!
Kris
I'm in for $20.
I do not know how the donations/bounties work. I would be happy to add $20 for the root. I am getting the feeling that the XDA community is the only thing that can save the flyer.
20-50 euro
Clount me for the amount above-mentioned. The flyer must be able to make calls using the phone sim. I have an hearing problem and i want to use it connected via bt and my hearingequipment boosters. It is not doable to connect 2 devices 1 for phone and 1 for multimedia.
The battle can begin...
Okay, I bought my Flyer today and the battle can begin, also I hope that I am to late because I haven't the time.
But I think that I have enough knowledge and experience to got the Flyer rooted. This mean that at the end of summer we have root rights or it will not be possible
But I hope that someone will be faster because I will not be the only dev for the flyer and I have not so much time... also summer begins.

Hi..
I got The HTC EVO 3D in June 22, as part of Sprint Premier Custumer I'm. But the are some things that are missing and i want to know what happened here.
For example, Flashlight APP, Battery Widget, Panaromic Camera, and the Transparent Rosie that everybody saw on CTIA Event. That is very disappointing.
I will attach a Photo of the Transparent Rosie that was anounced in the CTIA Wireless event, compared with the EVO 4G.

Dear Rockypr9,
I understand the importance of having your device perform to the fullest of its ability. The applications you describe were removed from the production model of the Sprint EVO 3D at Sprint's request so that it would function as intended. I do paologize for any inconvenience.

Looking forward to the review. Could you also check if there's anything different in the GSM version to the CDMA version?
Obvious things are:
- The sim card
- Bronze outline (not red)
As the UK HTC EVO 3d has been delayed (just want to know if there has been any bugs fixed / or new things added)
Thanks!
Seems like you guys will have "native screen capture" from what I hear.

Every dutch store has them in stock...
Runeazn, praat nederlands en ik vertaal je wel...
I'd say just give a short impression first. Talk about how it feels in your hand, how it physically compares to another phone and general things that come to mind. Then, after a few days of use, give a more in-depth review stating whether it is any good in real life.
How is the screen?
How is the reception?
How is the call quality (using earpiece and speaker)?
Is it snappy or do you experience lag on occasion?
If you experience lag, when?
How is the battery life?
Especially: how much screen on time do you get at certain settings (brightness at 50% for instance)
Do you recommend the device our not, and why?
If you want, you can write your review in Dutch and I can translate to English in a few days.

Pretty much what Wekko said.
Other than the physical aspect be sure to demonstrate enough footage of general usage and the unique features, this phone is much more interesting on than off. Besides that you could also mention a couple of facts revolving around the device, such as S-OFF being achieved, or benchmark results compared to competitors.
so the evo 3d gsm is released?on htc site its says availible soon
If I recall the official date was August 6th, but it's available right now yes.
So I know it order to take full advantage of this feature both phone require HD Voice -- But what about on our side? If we call someone, does the second microphone on top of the phone block out the background noise for the person on the other side of the call?
......... question when the phone isnt even out yet
*Mod Edit: lets try to be a little nicer next time to start...
That is the idea behind the second microphone we will see how well it works with the Evo LTE once we get it.
As far as the HD Voice the tech behind it is called Wideband Audio and not only do both phones have to be using it but it is not native to to the network so Sprint has to deploy it market by market(Assuming they already are with Network Vision upgrades)so it will be a while before we really get to test it. Here is an article explaining the science behind it:

I was not aware of this. Thanks.
From the Engagdet test, it sounds like both sides need to have HD Voice. The idea is that it does ambient noise cancellation with the second mic, but this audio stream is "encoded" by your phone and only "decoded" by the receiving phone. I can only imagine that all to be a bunch of bs, but who knows, maybe its really just a digital stream of audio at some increased bitrate compared to a "regular" voice call. Sprint will supposedly be using this on a bunch of new handsets coming out soon...but that's all conjecture until we see the EVO Shift 4G LTE+ with more LTEness.

Wow, really?..Obviously this question was not directed towards you, as you have very little to add to the forum. Whether the device is out or not, there are still plenty of people who have a better understanding on the actual way this feature works than I do.
As for everyone else, thanks for the feedback, especially the one from geek.com, I found that to be extremely informative.
I gotta assume the noise cancelling software runs even on non-HD-voice calls, right? I didn't think the dual mics was part of HD voice, just a normal feature on a flagship phone.

Anyone still remember the HD Voice that is supposed to be deployed "by the end of 2012?" Ha I was looking this up today but it seems like there's not really any news about it anymore it just kind of died off.
I still think it would be a really awesome feature though if it were to spread around...
