Can anyone tell me what are google one time init, google partner setup, latin input tutorial used for? i know they are installed with google apps so it is safe to remove/Freeze them?
Google one time init I think has to do with promoting you to sign in to your Google account. Latin tutorial seems safe I don't think the partner one would be safe. The you could always backup and try

Hi, I'm not really sure what to do about this screen. I started getting a notification that seems to come from the official app (I long tapped, and checked the notification info), but this "update" apparently needs to be side loaded onto the system instead of installed through the Play Store. Has anyone else gotten this update prompt? I'm not sure what to do here.

I just got it too - very weird. Very suspicious.

i just got that just right now, its very weird...facebook getting hacked???
Now I'm getting a suspicious looking sign in error that is prompting me to sign in with my Google account. Something is definitely spamming me.
i found this on search supposedly explaining it
Facebook pushes Android update to enable silent updates (bypassing the Play Store)
Facebook appears to be doing an end run around the Google by pushing an update to the social network’s open app to Android users today… and the update isn’t coming from the Google Play Store. The Facebook app on your phone downloads the update automatically and then beeps or vibrates incessantly until you install it (or uninstall the app altogether).
So what does the new version of Facebook for Android do?
According to Facebook it lets you change your profile picture using the mobile app, allows you to hide stories and report spam, and start group messages more quickly.
But there’s one other thing the new app does: It allows itself to download future updates without alerting you.
If you look at the permissions required by the app, there’s a new one that says “download files without notification.”
This effectively lets the Facebook app for Android automatically update itself without going through the Google Play Store. It’s not clear exactly why Facebook is taking this step. But once you’re prompted to download the new version of the mobile app the only alternatives appear to be to put up with annoying notifications or remove the Facebook app from your Android device.

Hi all
I don't have Google now installed. But when I start to use Google search, now keeps trying to install itself. Can I permanently remove now? And just have search?
This is for CM10.1
Thanks

Have you tried starting Google Search, then Settings, then Google Now > Off ?

Thanks for your response
I have been there, it is already "off".
It is almost like Google Search is advertising Now, but I don't want it ask me to install Now every time, I just want to go straight to search.
Even hitting the microphone opens the Google Now install window, then I must hit the back button to go back to regular search.
This is really annoying for someone who doesn't want google now installed.

Hi guys!
As the title says, for some reason the Google Sound Search app does not work on my phone with CM11. I have cleared the shops cache and even uninstalled it then reinstalled it, yet I still can't get it to work. When I click on the widget to try and use it, it says "opps, request failed. Retry?"
Any help would be great. Thanks!

I had a similar issue with this with OmniRom. I ended up having to uninstall Google Search (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ALTERNATE LAUNCHER!) with RootAppDelete and then reinstall with with Google Play.
After I did that the voice search complete w/ "OK Google" started working again.
Once again. Change to an alternate launcher before force uninstalling Google Search as it is integrated in with the KitKat launcher.
It's not the voice search that's broken, it's the app that listens to the music then tells me the artist and song name. Google Ears I think it was called.
I tried what you suggested anyways but I still have the issue.

It's still there - just well hidden
If you go to google now or type on the mic in google search and there is some kind of music playin you'll see a blue 'note' on right bottom of your screen. Just tap on it ....

Thanks! I installed them all on AT&T Moto X Stock and they're working fine. I just couldn't see the difference in Launcher but I don't think I installed that.

Thanks. I tried the calendar and it seems to be working. Looks great. Any idea how to get it to show in App Drawer?

Figured it out. This was a Nova issue. I installed the google now launcher and it shows up.
Thanks for the apps.
How do I install the new launcher. It's a zip file. Do I need to sideload? Do I need root?

Thanks so much. I really like the messenger and gmail apps. I've got no need for inbox now.
I couldn't get the new Google Now launcher to work though, I keep getting Google search FC's. I'm not rooted and so I can't disable Google search before installing the velvet.apk. Any ideas on how I could get it to work?

I am not rooted as well, try install Velvet.apk and GoogleHome.apk and then disable original app, then restart device
the lollipop launcher works fine for me
You can't disable the original apk once you install the new one. I think you have to be rooted for it to work properly

Just checked my disabled app list, no google search app, so you don't have to disable it
Try install both Velvet.apk and GoogleHome.apk then restart the phone
It works on my phone without root
Can't get home to work either
Works but Google Search stops
Hi,
It works and installed ok for me, but then Google Search stops responding every 10 secs of idle use.
Uninstalled and no issues using stock launcher and Google Search.
I figured out the search force close issue.
You just need to turn off "OK Google" Detection. This shouldn't be a big deal because you have moto voice.
Just swipe left for google now, then go to settings, voice, and turn off "OK Google" detection.
