[Q] No Wireless connection after BAMF Remix 1.8.6 - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed BAMF 1.8.6 on my thunderbolt. Before doing so I cleared all data / cache / dalvik as instructed. Everything seems to work great now that I have the new rom running but I cannot access any wireless networks make calls access internet or text. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I used this rom:
[ROM] [06.20.11] BAMF Remix 1.8.6 - UPDATE**MR2 radio and custom kernel support!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027804
Obviously I'm new to this so I didn't add any new radios or anything to that extent. I assume that is the issue but I'd rather not play around with things I'm not familiar with. If you can point me in the right direction if it is a radio and to which radio I should upgrade to I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

You need either the MR2 , MR2.5 or the new radio that dropped today. The MR2 is a good stable radio. All of these radios will work on the newer froyo builds like bamf 1.8.6 or any gingerbread rom. There are a couple of threads for these radios in TB development.
Good luck!

I've been using this for the past
couple days w/ the leaked mr2 radio
and it has been pretty good.
I got an extra 1hr of uptime and 30mins
of awake time. (15hrsUp/5hrsAwake)
Last night I flashed the official MR2
radio and all is well. I think the reason
you aren't getting any service is because
either you flashed your radio wrong or
you never did it.
Here's the link to the thread w/
just the new official mr2 radio that i used

hope that helps

Internet not working.

My internet just started going in and out. Either I have 1x or nothing. This just started happening. Never had a problem before.
I'm running bamf sense 3.0. Does anyone know what can be causing it? All day today I had no internet until now. I don't know if there is a setting or if I'm on the wrong radio (Mr2.5) or if this is usual for a 4g phone.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
From what I heard mr2.0 is best for 3G and mr2.5 is best for 4G, but I use mr2.5 because I go in and out of 4G. Honestly, I'd stick with mr2.5, as it is a newer radio they released after mr2.0 was not working too well.
On mr2.5 I had the same issue for a few days, but then I updated my kernel to dream kernel 2.3.0 (a newer version of what's included in the sense 3.0 rom) after doing a wipe and rom reinstall (I'd recommend wiping data, cache, battery data, and dalvik cache 5x each before reinstalling the ROM just to make sure everything is deleted). After that I've had much better reception, although now and then it'll have a few issues.
Best of luck.
Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Never tried to flash a new kernal. I'll go learn and give it a shot.

Has GB MMS problem been figured out?

Running MR2 Das BAMF Gingerstripped with Imo's GB Sense 3.4.0 kernel. All is running perfectly well (aside from slightly odd battery behavior) except for one thing. MMS doesn't work. Apparently I'm not alone many others are reporting the issue in mostly all GB roms and I was just wondering has a solution been posted yet?
i have the same rom, radio, and kernel and no go on the mms receiving or sending; i really like the gingerstripped, but currently sitting in my clockwork directroy as nandroid backup until the MMS can be worked out.
i searched around and havent found an answer for this. Can anyone chime in on a possible fix?
I noticed just yesterday that my mms sending and recievng is not working . Im using bamf 1.8.6 with the mr2 radio . I didnt have these problems until yesterday . I swiitched back to the mr1 and my 1.8 backup and still no go .
Maybe something to do with the fact it is stripped, maybe something was accidentally removed? BAMF 3 rc4 here, mr2.5, imo 3.4.0 and MMS is working fine here, sending and receiving.

You're saying you are now back on the MR1 radio and running Froyo and still you can't send/receive MMS? That is some bad juju right there.
Hey g00s3y, you say MMS works for you on BAMF 3.0 RC4. My question to you is, did you flash the radio after you flashed the ROM? I flashed Radio -> Rom. Maybe flashing the radio over the rom will help? I am willing to try it but I just want to make sure flashing the radio won't affect my data/rom right?

As far as I know, it shouldn't matter which one you flash first. I have went back and forth from froyo/GB quite a bit in the past, and just flashed the radio whenever I got around to it. But most of the time I did install the radio in hboot first, reboot into the phone, then reboot into recovery and wipe/install the rom.
MMS works fine on BAMF 3.0 RC4.
MMS on Das Bamf 3.0 Rc4 with the MR2 radio works for me.
EDIT: I flashed MR2, then Das Bamf 3.0 RC4
Update: I flashed to CM7.1 RC1.2 and I can now send/receive MMS however...

BAMF Sense works. Gingerstripped was having serious issues sending and receiving MMS however, and I am not alone. Many people in the Gingerstripped thread are reporting the same problem, and since there hasn't been an update to it in awhile it's safe to say it still has the same problem.
I loved Gingerstripped, and the work you guys are doing with BAMF is GREAT! Keep it up!
I was having trouble sending and receiving MMS for the last month. Not sure if it started with stripped FROYO 1.7 or 1.8, but it carried onto gingerstripped. I love this rom, but had to switch do to charging issues, which is supposedly worked out with a lean kernel. I dunno, I never tried it. I couldn't deal with the charging thing.
I'm CM7ing it right now, and have not tried the GPS, but am having trouble with notification issues.

Give GPS a shot and see if it works. I mean true GPS, not network based. I don't get a lock at all. Literally sat there for a good while trying to find location and nothing. Charging issues were fixed indeed by Imoseyon's latest kernels.
As for notification issues, what exactly is the problem? I am using Handcent and my notifications for texts are fine. Haven't had any missed calls or emails yet so dunno about those.

[Q] MR2 vs MR2.5 for DAS BAMF Gingerbread ROMS?

Hoping someone can provide some feedback. I recently converted to the MR2.5 radio & when I did that I went to the DAS BAMF 1.8.6 ROM. I know the creators of the Gingerbread BAMF ROMS have said that the MR2 radio works better than the 2.5 with their ROMS, but I've also heard from independent people that it can go either way as far as reliability & stability. And it seems (from what I've read on the MR2.5 thread) that the majority of people seem to be having good luck with the 2.5 radio even with the DAS BAMF Gingerbread ROMS. So far with the MR2.5 Radio and DAS BAMF 1.8.6, my phone is as stable as it's ever been. I haven't had a single reboot since I installed the ROM right after it came out. It seemed like no matter what ROM I had before, I still got at least an occasional random reboot with the MR1 radio. I'm thinking about making the leap From Froyo to Gingerbread with DAS BAMF - should I switch to the MR2 radio, or stay with the 2.5 since it seems to be working fine for me so far? Besides just the BAMF ROMS, what radio seems to work best overall for the Gingerbread ROMS? Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks.
I have better luck on BAMF 3.0 RC4 with the MR2 radio vs 2.5..
I'm on bamf 3.0 rc3 w/ mr2 radio and it is working great. Gps locks on immediately and no random reboots.

I know they recommended mr2 but I was on mr2.5 prior to flashing this rom and so far it's been alright. I don't think there is any hard to using 2.5 but we'll see if problems arise for me.
bamf 3.0 rc4 mr2.5 works great for me. havent tried the mr2 radio tho. no reboots, almost instant gps lock

From Das BAMF 1.6.3 to what???

I haven't been keeping up with the latest and greatest. The only reason I'm changing ROMs is I had a crash a couple of weeks ago (some kind of UID issue ??) and had to restore and lost some functionality of my main Gmail account from the device.
Since I have to flash again I thought I'd upgrade. I've been happy with 1.6.3 but don't have Visual VM capability. Due to my job (Airline Flight crew) I turn the phone on and off several times a day. A fast boot would be a plus and great battery life is a must even though I do use the extended battery on occasion.
I use some of the HTC widgets but none of the Sense widgets. I've had some issues with the hotspot dropping my connection (losing 4G coverage completely). I use the hotspot A LOT.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't have the luxury of perusing the boards digging up information on all of the ROMs out there.
Thanks!
you could try SHIFTS3NS3 1.3X or Gingeritis 3D 1.0 VIII
both should suit you fine.
It has been a while since you changed ROMs. "Team Bamf" no longer posts on xda. So you might have to google them to find their new site, if you want to stick with their work.
Last time I used Bamf I was on v. 1.8.6 Remix. I liked it a lot because it wasn't a battery hog. From here on out, any rom you use should now require a different radio from the one you were using. A quick search of "1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r" should find you the exact file you need (Official MR2 OTA).
This radio will work w/ froyo DasBamf 1.8.6, any Gingerbread based roms (ex. Gingeritis by chingy), or non-HTC Sense roms (CM7.1 RC1.7). Those are just some basic ones I listed off. Many more choices around too.
Thanks for the suggestions. Do I flash the radio first or do the ROM first? Also, what about MR2.5 and the newer radios? I have no idea what the actual functionality or differences are.
I'm not certain of the order of flashing because I don't remember what I did. Perhaps someone else will chime in.
As for the radio, the series of numbers I posted above are the baseband #s for MR2 released by Verizon. "MR 2.5" is actually an old leaked radio; it's not as current. The naming can get sort of confusing if you don't keep up with these forums.
I normally just keep track of the radios by the baseband number or the release date. For example, I'm running a leaked radio (1.48.00.0817r, 0.01.78.0802w_3). 0817 = Aug 17, 0802 = Aug 2. Even though this is supposed to be newer than MR2, I can't tell a difference in performance.
EDIT:
Here's the list of all the radios out there.

it doesnt matter on the rom/radio order, i normally do rom first(so long as it supports the radio i am currently using), and then radio.
as for radios, the new 802(MR3.5) is great. especially combined with a rom using the new base.

There is no crime in posting other websites.
http://rootzwiki.com has bamf roms (that you dont need to register for).
I found out the hard way that I needed to flash the radio first, the ROM would not set up properly with the older radio.
I flashed the Shift ROM and the 802 radio. I'm 4:45 since being unplugged and am already down to 50% battery on the standard battery. No real heavy use. Any suggestions? This won't work.
I really like synergy for a sense style rom

Try a more modern ROM. That base is OLD and has some issues in itself you're just not going to get around. If you like BAMF, try uberBAMF or the side project Adrynalyne is working on. Much better base, much better battery life.

That ROM should be. I think I need to start having more Jack Daniels for breakfast. I'm not reading things right today.
I try to keep a handle on sync operations. Mail, social network stuff, and weather.... That weather one is goofy because by default it's set to refresh every time the widget is viewed, which might be every time you use unlock the device. Might want to try a different kernel too.
Just noticed my Hotspot doesn't work. Would that be the radio or the ROM?

[Q] New Thunderbolt user with some questions...

So I am a proud owner of the Thunderbolt now and I am loving this phone a lot. I’ve moved over from the Sprint EVO. I was rooted since day 1 with that phone. I ran CM7… and while my overall phone and speed test were faster than the stock phones in the house… I still seemed to have constant issues… be it from the phone itself or the network.
Of course I can’t leave well enough alone with this phone. I wanted to put Gingerbread on it (it still has 2.2 WTF?!) and I wanted to put Sense 2.1/3.0 on it. So I successfully rooted (WOW that was easy) and installed clockwork recovery. I decided on SHIFTS3NS3 V1.4F as it seems to have exactly what I want (I kind of don’t want to go back to CM7, everyone claims they have no signal issues but I am sure they do, especially when my Sense loaded Evo could get 4G where CM7 could/would not).
So BEFORE I rooted or did anything, I did several speed test throughout my home and work. Smooth scaling and great speeds. After rooting and installing Shifts3ns3, I started running test. My speeds dropped… and now I was seeing “skipping” with the speed test (gets to a point, stops, drops, stutters going back up, drops again, etc). So I get to work this morning and the speed test is doing the same here. I did a nandroid backup of my stock set up last night before I installed the new ROM… restored it this morning… and ran the test at work again… lo and behold I am getting faster speeds and no stuttering.
So perhaps a radio issue? I noticed there are Froyo radios and GB radios (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048128)... When installing the GB ROM does it update the radios? Was I running Froyo radios on a GB rom and is that bad? Should I try upgrading to the latest GB radios and run test again? Does any of this Rom switching/radio switching affect the simultaneous voice and data ability (that’s actually huge for me and the main reason I got this phone)?
I appreciate any help. I’ve been a XDA board reader with EVO since 11-2010… so while everything is familiar to me… this all seems different with the Thunderbolt.
First off I would upgrade to the latest radio. Although these are *beta* radios, they work much better than the stock radios.
Second, after installing the latest radio try, Bamf 2.4.1. Just like you I like staying close to stock, but like extra elements with my ROM. To me Gingeritis is just too far from stock, plus the Carousel home screen is a pain in the ass. Bamf 2.4.1 is just stock with sense 3.0 weather and lockscreen, and without the location icon in the status bar.
Also, my speedtest on Bamf 2.4.1 was a straight shot. No drop offs what so ever.
And, of course this is all just my opinion but I strongly believe that Bamf 2.4.1 is what you want.

Quick question, since I am on page 10 and not seeing this answer... what is the difference between ADR and non ADR? He mentioned on page one that its "Adrynalyne. Its what I made according to my own wants"... but I am not sure what that means LOL. Only reason I am concerned is that there still seems to be a sense 3.0 lock screen bug that someone said is a known bug and to flash the non ADR version.

i came from the evo too so welcome. IMO the reason people are having soo many data issues is not from the radios but from the 2.3.5 build that was meant for the nexus s phone. 2.3.4 doesn't have those kinds of problems. just my 2 cents!

Low volume in call? Geeze... I wish I could turn it down! Gingeritis3D is blaring loud. I never use it more than half way up.
Thanks everyone for the responses!
I guess I am just scared to do anything to mess up my phone. I trouble shot and tinkered with the Evo so much so often.
Right now the phone works. And works great. I just wanna help the battery life some... and remove Verizons bloatware.
It seems the Thunderbolt handles radios differently depending on the build? With the Evo I would just flash a radio and I could bounce around from sense to AOSP, froyo to GB, and it wouldnt matter. The thunderbolt has MR2 radios... Froyo radios... GB radios. So my last question here is... right now I am on stock. If I go to a GB based rom, do I flash the radio first? And if I go back to the stock rom, do I flash the MR2 radios first (my phone updated to 1.70.605.0 while it was being set up in the store) then flash back to stock? Basically do the radios persist throughout the builds and I flash them according to what ROM I am using?
Thanks again.

The latest radio's available will work with all ROM's out right now (Including the latest Froyo ROM's).
If I remember correctly you should be okay to just flash the ROM (No need to flash the new radio as MR2 works with both GB and Froyo).
The Radio's persist through everything except a RUU or PG05IMG.zip flash (Depending on what you are flashing of course).

OK so it IS like the Evo then. The radio thread isnt stating that they are Froyo/GB radios... but where the radios got pulled FROM. I was totally reading it wrong.
Thank you for the clarification!
