I upgraded to official LG V20C Gingerbrad 2.3.3 and now the compass doesn't work at all. The compass ever shows about 180 degrees. If I rotate the phone the compass rotates with it showing always 180 degrees. In other words it doesn't track North at all. It just stays pointing in the same direction and turns with the phone, like it was stuck. I've tried every compass app I can find and have calibrated it over and over and still the same issue.
A my friend has the same problem.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
Someone has the same problem?
Thanks.
The calibration apps are completely useless. Take your phone in your hand and move it like this in front of you about 3 times:

}
If it does not work - sorry, nothing that could be fixed.
just to clarify the previous post...
do NOT just move the phone in a figure 8 patern with it still pointing in the same direction...you need to move the phone so that sometimes the top of the phone is pointing away from you and sometimes toward you....does that make sense?

With V10A_00 (Android 2.2) or V10E_00 (Android 2.2.2) any movement I should make calibrated compass, with V20C_00 no movement calibrate it. Therefore augmented reality apps (Street view, Google Sky Map, some games, etc...) no works fine. I reinstalled 2.2.2 and everythings works.
No one has the same problem?
I have exactly the same problem as described here.
Compass will work after a rebbot (not always) but then when it gets the abnormal magnetic interference message it stops using the magnetic sensor and reacts to tilts!!
Only a reboot can't ix it after. It appears this is a common bug in gingerbread roms well known.
The weirdest thing is that doesn't happen on another lg p500 with same rom and kernel.
Ideas Anyone?
Well I have my compass running for a complete day now without failures.
I guess the wipe rotate settings on amun rah recovery has done the trick, although I am not completely sure about it. The truth is that it never had so much time running correctly since I updated to ginger.
New Info :
The bug returned and I finally found a way to get rid of it.
When your compass does not work just close compass apps, make a call (to voicemail for example) and... IT WORKS AGAIN!
Weird...

OK so this is completely new to me. My current location for weather has changed. Any ideas? It almost looks like Arabic text, however the location weather is correct. Any ideas? Driving me crazy.

for the jihad!!!!
i would try rebooting, if that doesnt help maybe turn on gps and fiddle with maps until you get a location for yourself then re-sync the weather.

tried it all man. I've rebooted, restored various roms and they all switch to that as my location, tried maps too. no dice on anything.
like i said, the weather condition and temps are correct.....UGH!
I think it looks like its from around Indonesia or Malaysia? Maybe your phone thinks you are on vacation in Kuala Lumpur
Hah well glad I know what locale my phone thinks I'm at. Driving me crazy though. Between this and my new found poor bluetooth A2DP streaming I think I may be heading towards a replacement phone.
In case this comes up with others, it's a bug with VZW's location services. Make sure to not have that turned on. HTC apparently acknowledges this bug with their weather widget and the service. Google and GPS are fine to use.

Following up more. I'm rooted and this only seems to be affecting custom ROMs. Stock sense does not have this problem. Not positive now what this is, but it is still happening.
Having the same issue on my phone. Running Bamf 1.3 and the 1.76ghz kernel and apparently my phone things i'm in Iceland, when i'm really in Florida lol. Weird as heck bug.
anyone have their screen keep flickering especially when you click recent apps button in home screen and youtube?
the flickering is getting more worst and happens more often. btw it only happens when the recent apps is full of apps.
is it ICS bug or hardware issue?
I have it too, all of us do. It's a software bug that started with ICS. It is kinda annoying sometimes but I wouldn't worry about it to much. Hopefully Asus will have this fixed in future updates.
My understanding is that this is normal and designed to reduce battery drain. The screen will constantly try and adapt to use the least amount of power. I notice putting the tablet into "performance" will alleviate this, but will obviously drain the battery quicker.
that happen to me n i called asus n they said to send it to them but wat happen was i reset it to stock as new and wat happen was it seems it crash on men then all of a sudden it went to CWM recovery and stared bootloop which now i am stuck i put a rom in it and does nothing so now i am stuck real stuck

Happens on many tabs.
Running ICS on Gtab 10.1 wifi.
Screen flickering since moved to ICS CM9 (4.0.3 and 4.0.4) and yes seems more constant while the recent apps is full. I still think some apps make it worse and more constant, still cant understand witch ones.
Setting CPU to "performance" also helps, but like stated previously your battery will end soon with a cost of only 10% less flickering.
Cheers.
Myself and many others have had crippling issues with bluetooth on CM-based roms and it has gone unfixed for a long time. Bluetooth suddenly just stops working. The icon disappears from the notification menu, and if you try to turn it on, it appears to turn on for a fraction of a millisecond and then shuts off. Rebooting doesn't fix it. Clearing cache from safe strap does fix it (temporarily), but it's a pain in the ass and takes a long time.
This has happened to me both in CM 10.1 and Carbon, and it happens about once a day. Once every two if I'm lucky.
Today I managed to restore bluetooth completely by simply force closing the "Bluetooth Share" app. I did tap "Clear Cache" first in the app's settings, but it didn't appear to do anything (cache remained at 12KB), so I don't know if that step is required. Bluetooth was immediately restored and the icon immediately reappeared in my notification bar. Why this worked but rebooting doesn't is beyond me. I would think since all apps get shut down on reboot, that a reboot would have the same effect... who knows.
Anyway, I just thought I would share my discovery with other frustrated Razr owners. I have only tried it once, but I will update this thread next time I attempt this and post my results.
1st Attempt: Success
2nd Attempt: ??? (will test without clearing app cache)
3rd Attempt: ???
If this does indeed work consistently, it may be possible to create a bandaid fix for this whereby an app running in the background constantly checks to see if bluetooth is turned on, and if not, executes a force close on the app, automatically bringing bluetooth back up.

Calibrate gyro
You should try calibrating your device, found same while playing real racing 3, there was a calibration options in the settings, it asked me to place the device on a full flat surface and tap calibrate or something, i did and the issue was solved! Tap on kernel version in about phone and you'll enter into device testing option where you can calibrate your gyro... hit thanks if it helped..

Here's a calibrate option to calibrate your gyro, it can be found by tapping multiple times on kernel in about phone, place your phone on a flat surface Like a reading table, at this time the x y and z readings should be zero, if it's not, place calibrate and don't move your device, after successful calibration it'll show calibration success toast message, check the attachment below:

Hello overyone,
I Googled and found nothing, so I'm here. Let's see what experts think...
What's happening:
When the "automatic brightness" function is turned on and the smartphone itself is exposed to the sun, it tends to "overdo" the level of brightness (and in a VERY strange way). Whole screen starts to look "washed out" and COMPLETELY strange. It is perfectly visible for example in a black version on Messenger. Display is not just "washed out", the letters is "outlined" aswell (kinda looks like is was "overbrightnessed" and "washed out" or "oversharpened" in some raster editor). At first I thought that it has to be a HW problem (really looks like display is broken or poorly connected to the bus). It is difficult take a picture of the phenomenon, so I tried to decribe it AND tried to replicate it:
Here is original screen of header banner of XDA forum - in darker enviroment the screen looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here is the modified one, looks very simmilar to the phenomenon what's occuring on the phone (brightness is pumped up and "sharpen" effect is pumped up (highly overused)) - in brighter enviroment (outdoor) the screen looks like this:
When the problem occured:
Yesterday. From all of the sudden. I have the phone for month or something, mabye less. No any problems until now.
What I tried:
Identifying the problem. Looks like SW problem. Occuring only in sunlight with "high" brightness. When the fron camera is covered, display darkens and the problem completely disappears. I tried restarting the phone, checking for updates, messing with the brightness settings. Nothing helped. When you make a screenshot, the picture is obviously fine.
Any ideas what it could be? Last thing to try is to factory reset the phone, but I do not want to do it right away obviously.
The phone has a valid warranty, so returning it is always an option (and I'll do it if I don't figure out what it might be).
Thanks for trying, have a wonderful day!
John
'Increased contrast' color profile fixed this problem for me.
Ha! Thats it! Thank you a lot!
I'm excited that the phone is completely ok. That means I'm happy with it so far.
It keeps me wondering, how is it possible that such a bad (non-functioning) feature is included and not patched? Instead of improving readability it turns the screen into complete mess.
Again,
thank you.
