Hello forumers,
I recently transferred my songs to my Galaxy S II, but the album cover is all blurred out and looks horrible! I used iTunes when I was still using my iPod Touch and they all look great. I usually use album art cover size 500x500 and copy and paste on Windows Media Player and also sync my phone through there and not KIES, since KIES seems randomly erase information about the song e.g. Artists. I do not know how to fix this problem about the cover art... Can someone please point me to the write direction? Much appreciated!
EDIT: I have also tried MixZing(always freezes), Dualtwist Player, and the stock Google Music App, but they all look blurry and the same.

Is it me or does the SGS2 not show the artist tag in .m4a files? whats going on?
I installed PowerAmp, it's the only music app I could find that shows all of the tags and artwork for my iTunes music files (m4a's).
Mine still has missing tags? every other phone I've had has been fine? what have samsung done? and why??
the tag is still there when I load it back to iTunes, but something on the phone is stopping the tag being seen, very strange?
havent been using .m4a files yet but will try some out tonight when i get home from work. tried any other media player such as winamp? maybe a tag problem with PowerAMP?
I've used Doubletwist, Winamp, PowerAMP, and a tag editor to see what wrong, all do the same thing, can't figure it out, and the SGS2 guide it says plays .m4a's but its the only android phone I've seen this on?
You could always sync with Winamp and tell it to transcode .m4a into another format during sync, it's in the device properties when your phone is plugged in!
I could, but important now using spotify and synchronized my playlists, crazy but works.
I still don't understand why the sgs2 won't see the tags on m4a files? My nexus s and desire s do? Strange Samsung idea maybe?

I don't know, but I'm hoping it's easily fixed... I've just sold my iPod Touch so I can use the SGSII as my music player when I get it! Ripped some of my favourite CDs to .flac as well for the best music quality
Well if you find out, let me know, its bugging me, and seams to make a great phone, a bit second rate!

Just got my SGSII yesterday... my m4a tags are fine! Not sure what's happening with yours D:
EDIT: I was totally wrong, the artist didn't show up. Luckily I had like one album in m4a format, so I changed it to mp3 and everything's fine now! Just missing a few album arts here and there, but I think that's more a Winamp problem than a problem with the SGSII
Mine are the same .m4a artist tag shows as unknown. Play fine etc just doesn't show the artist
I've noticed that the Kies software from Samsung doesn't recognise any of the music tags for m4a files either even though it downloads codecs?
how have you guys transferred the music onto the s2?
I'm using Winamp to drag and drop, then play using Winamp on the phone and the same happens to me. 10GB of my 20GB collection is in m4a too.
Try using sync with Winamp and tell it that m4a isn't supported, and to transcode m4a into mp3 maybe? Might do the trick!
I found this after having copied files to the new phone, then searching under the artist and not finding the album I had copied. I searched for a keyword in the song name and sure enough - same symptoms. m4a files purchased form iTunes, plays the file fine, but not sorted properly.
Guess I'll give another music player app a shot.

All the other players I tried use the system media DB as the source, which is where the data problem lies.
I tried Winamp, poweramp, doubletwist and all have the same problem.
Looks like maybe we need a firmware update to fix this?
M4A tracks don't have an artist
I have the same issue here.
Any applications that use the system media library (which include DoubleTwist, Winamp, PowerAMP) don't display the artists.
I downloaded a tag editor app onto the phone, but when I go to edit the tags, they are all correct, it does seem to be an issue with the system, and not any apps.
Has anyone tried installing the default music player from vanilla Gingerbread?
Or is the media library part of the OS more than just that app?
Would imagine that the stock Android music player will have the same problem. It's pretty apparent that Samsung have customised the media scanner and broken it for no apparent reason, since it worked just fine before!
I'm not completely clear on how components such as the media scanner/media store database are packaged up but would hazard a guess that it might be possible to replace the Samsung version with the vanilla version...
In PowerAMP > Folders view, if I long press a m4a file then select Info I can clearly see that the artist info is there.
However, in Library view (which I wan't using at all until last week) the Artist section is definitely missing the m4a files.
The problem somehow seems to be all files that use AAC-codec (m4a, mp4, etc.). My .mp4-files wich worked perfectly on my old SGS are now broken (tags, that is).
It must be a system problem, cause other programs experience this also. And The music player seems to be pretty much the same as in SGS.
REALLY hope they fix this soon. I've been ripping my CD:s tp MP4:s for years. Not going to convert them all to mp3:s.
hi there..
I embedded all album arts into the mp3s in my pc using mp3tag... all working in my pc...
so i copied all the mp3s into my sensation XE.. all the album art is not displaying in the stock music player like it shows in the pc..
i tried viewing all the mp3s in my phone using another pc, all the album art is there.. but the phone is not displaying.. any help?
I'm gonna bump this one.
I have the exact same problem. I've used hours upon hours on sorting my music through mp3tag, giving them new names, making new folders, finding and embedding artwork in tags, and so on. And when I decided to throw it all on my Desire S, it almost didn't show any artwork at all! I shows like 1 percent or so, the rest is just blank.
Now, I know the phone can show it, cause a lot of the music has been on the phone before and showed artwork. BUT.. the problem was it didn't show all artwork (only around 90 percent or so), so I decided to transfer all my music onto my 64gb mincro-sd card once again (have around 50gb of music), only this time having sorted it all through said mp3tag.
I've used both the stock HTC music player, Winamp, Doubletwist, PowerAmp and others, but noone seems to be able to load all of the artwork. It propably has something to do with the android media scanner, but I have no idea how or why, everything I've tried seems to fail: Clearing the media scanner cache, restarting the phone etc. Maybe it's due to some spacial limitation on 'new scannable media' in incoming media scans on startup, who knows.
All the artwork shows up beautifully in Winamp on my computer, but not on my Android. And it pisses me off, as I'm actually quite fond of the whole Android experience. But as a music lover it's just soooo annoying that it's so terrible at handling music and related artwork.
I could of course use e.g. PowerAmp to fill out missing artwork, but it'll propably only work for the app itself, and I have too many albums to be arsed to do it all over again. As said, I already did use so much time on embedding artwork to id3v2.3 tags, and I just don't understand why the phone can't load those tags and related artwork without problems.
Anyone tried the same? Something similar? Other thoughts?
I use Android 2.3.5 btw.
SAME HERE
BUMP! as well!!!
owning a droid razr here and i have the similar problem as well... BUT I CAN SEE MY ALBUM ART AT THE LOCK SCREEN
other apps such as doubletwist etc are able to show my album art but the STOCK music player doesnt even show a SINGLE album art...
i classify all my song in their albums like a;ways and tag them from mp3tag...
100% sure they are there but they cant seem to show up on the app
Hope ics update will come earlier and fix this???
BTW
my phone had successfully shown the album art the first time i uploaded them into my internal storage but now it cant seem to work as before any more
after syncing them to my 16gb sandisk microsdhc....
now syncing it to my interal storage doesnt work as well...
Bump. Even downloading using album art grabber, and setting it to overwrite the default artwork, it doesnt stick. Plus, everytime i restart, all my artwork needs reaaplying, everytime i copy/to from the card, the artwork messes up, and my playlists vanish. Album artwork has already been pre-embedded, but winamp wipes it on transfer, forcing me to use album artwork grabber app. Is there ANY way to make these changes stick?
Hi all
This has been bugging the heck out of me for a while now. On the stock android 4.3 music player some of my albums show the album cover when playing and some dont (I just get the generic musical note icon). I've looked carefully into the album folders and cant for the life of me figure out where the album covers are coming from (there's no pictures in the folders so I'm wondering if its pulling the them down from the net)
Any clues on where its getting the covers from and why some are missing and how I can get them all to display please
Many thanks
I'm looking for a simple, beautiful and good music player to listen to my mp3 files
I think the Spotify music player is perfect, with the dark and clean visual and the album art at the perfect size
I just looking for a simple music player, doesn't need to have equalizer or anything like this
Is there anyway to download the Spotify music player to listen to my mp3 files? Or there is a music player with the same visual like Spotify?
I personally really like Shuttle but I'm not sure if it fits your definition of 'simple' or not.
I would like the Spotify visual

BlackPlayer Music Player seems to be close to what you're looking for.
The bottom volume bar can be removed from the settings.
Also note that the album art image is set to fit the screen height by default, which means it will be zoomed in at first. You can set it to be centered, like I did, from the settings too.
AIMP. Nothing comes close in terms of reliability and simplicity. Foobar2000 is coming to Android soon as well.
Phonograph is clean and material, without sacrificing information with blank spaces.
You can delete songs straight from Phonograph. Hadn't had any lag or ceashes.Nice looking tablet UI too.
Help with ID3 Tagging
Hi,
I am sure that this isn't the proper place to post this question,
but I need somebody's help!
Please take a look at the attached screenshot,
I accidently tagged Eminem's album with a special character "E".
No matter what music player i use to edit the tag, whether it be Poweramp, Rocket Player, Hi Music, or Shuttle Player, I can't seem to get it to go back! I've tried everything!
I've even tried downloading an ID3 Tag editor from the Play Store...several actualy, but for some reason my phone is set on keeping Eminem's Encore album with a special character E.
I even tried deleting the album, booting into recovery, wiping davlik cache and the cache partition, rebooting my device, and re-adding the album, but I still experience the same issue.
Does anybody know of an app or a fix for editing tags with special characters? Once I went special character, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to go back.
All suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks World!

I have an HTC Desire 626s that I purchased about a year ago, and one thing I love about it more than anything is being able to listen to music on it. I've used 3rd party music player apps on my device before, but I just have always liked the convenience and simplicity of the default player. One thing I must say is that it surprises me by how well it does with recognizing album art and especially, artist photos. Almost every album art and artist photo is automatically updated by the device, and the key thing that upsets me is the *almost* part. There are just so many of the artist photos/album arts that are unrecognized by the app, and that really irks me because I enjoy seeing what the artists look like and viewing the album arts while listening to my music. So what I'm inquiring is this: is there any possible way to have my album arts AND artist photos be visible for all my music, without having to solely depend on an album cover grabber app for both? I learned this trick on my own where I use a cover grabber app to scroll to the latest downloaded album, then set a picture of the artist as the cover art, then the default player would use that cover as the thumbnail, essentially making it a makeshift artist photo. I stopped doing that months ago because it became too confusing and a pain, plus, since they don't save after I eject than reinsert my external SD, it just became pointless. So is there any way to manually set the album art and artist photos for all my music directly on my phone and have them show up in my default player of my HTC desire 626s, while being able to keep them after reinserting the external SD?
