Hello everyone
I flashed my o1 with v20g (romania) using KDZ and for 2 days have been using the GB. Everything is fine but I noted that :
1- Feels slower than Froyo 2.2.2
2- The battery drains pretty fast not more than 16 h of battery. On Froyo I could get 2 days no problem.
My question is : GB was supposed to be faster and with better battery life or not?
Any solution or other room to use like v20c?
Or simply get back to 2.3.4 the Andy version?
Help.......

Hi there...
The answer is yes...it goes faster and has better battery life.
But nothing compared to andy's which is...very long battery backup
I had battery drain also on first success attempt of flashing, the second time went well...fast (well not that fast) and cold-long batt life...about a day last.
My suggestion is to reflash or to use any version which flashable through recovery, that means you dont have to patch lower baseband for andy's.
Regards
thanks for the answer
this means that on O1 the gingerbread did not gave what promised so what should be the solution?
Not use the official version of GB 2.3.3?
Well I'm not sure about exactly the 'promised' things..
But I can assure you that the official GB works very different than Froyo, the lagginess, the unresponsive touch and ramp up frequencies when you touch the screen, well its long gone for now.
Even that I used to have custom ROMs flashed in my O1, which were fast and had long lasting battery, I still like the official anc currently using one.
I think you should reflashed it or..use the official ROM from the dev section
Try Ginger lol 1.5, if you want a faster official rom. Its really fast.

as shhbz said, miks rom has a lot to give when it comes to performance but the battery life wont be as great as lgs 2.2.2 (my battery lasts about 2 days moderate usage, but its worth the performance)
edit: turns out u was using franco.kernel 18.1, which kills a lot of battery. I'll see how it goes now with another kernel

how to fix error in native sip rom mik 6.5.6.
It is the following problem. Whenever I make a call through SIP native-I always call sign even if the number for which I am connecting to is switched off or out of coverage. Explaining better if I call my own phone number and it is off I have ever heard sip native tone. I would like to fix this problem because I do a lot of calls over the Internet and thus never know if the phone is off or not ..
I sometimes manage to get 4-5 days with one charge too (that is on 2.2.1). When I tried void. #forever (yes, I do realize you're asking about cm7) with the built in kernel which is v17 I believe, I only managed to get about 3 days out of it. Even though my experience is not with the ROM you're asking about, I still hope that would give you some idea of what battery life is like once you go custom.

custom rom got good performance
so keep forcing u to play the phone
and longest i can use for it is 2day ==
stock rom 2.2.2 longest is 3-4days ~
mik's cm7 6.5.5 have sleep mode that increases battery life too much....
if u don't use ur phone too much u should try it... .
I had 70% using sleep mode after 3 hours still 70%... that was amazing for me...
Plz excuse my ENG1!
hi,
thought on moving to GB from froyo.
so i went and installed every non CM7 ROM in the 2.3.4 forum list.
all of them had problems on my phone with one shared problem that all had, bad battery life.
i did all the calibration needed but it didn't change anything.
i'm talking about a phone with no services except gmail and exchange.
battery on 2.2.1 used to hold for me for around 25-34 hours of usual usage(with still around 20% left).
on GB ROMs it was around 8-10% per hour.
does anyone have a clue where to begin ?
while looking in the battery stats and in system panel software i've noticed that the android system process is the top cpu/battery consumer.
i've also noticed that the phone is slow on most of the ROMs i've installed.
thanks for the help.
Battery on any of the Gingerbread roms that we have available is not going to be as good. Just the way it is. If you are using CM7 try the Glitch kernel. It provides a bit of improvement over the stock CM7 kernel for me.
I have the same problems with my vibrant, the I9K roms seem slow and kill the battery fast. I was only trying them because all the Vibrant Froyo based roms (ie: Stock or Bionix 1.3.1, etc...) have bugs that seem to only be repairable by rebooting the phone (ie: stops ringing when people call... gets the call fine, but doesn't ring. Also, stops being able to play some music formats, only starts to play them again after rebooting, etc...) I can't wait to replace this phone, total PoS IMO, My G2 works far better (Vibrant is actually my wife's phone) and is far easier to try out different roms.

thanks for the quick reply.
i would have understand if was 20% worst, but no holding for 12 hours and then die.
by they way, are they suppose to be slow/laggy also ?
there are also many new services/system services, my phone has around 40-60 MB less than in froyo.
i didn't try CM7 because as i understand the GPS is not working in them.
Ummm no. Try trigger redux. Yes the battery ain't froyo but GPS locks on 7 sats and Birg put a ton of work making it snappier than any froyo out. Trust me, the speed is insane. Anything cm7 based is worthy of being your daily driver. It makes my phone awesome yet again.

Hi!
I heard a lot of SGS2 users talking about these 2 custom ROMs like Lite'ning and Villain ROMs. Right now I'm using the Lite'ning ROM and I'm pretty happy with it, but I feel taht I need a change you know. So I was thinking to chnage my current rom to Villain ROM, but I don't know if it worth it? I need help to decide myself.
I would like to know which have the best battery life as I usea lot WIFI, internet and games. I focus most on the battery usage and a bit of style system improvements.
So, help me do decide, Lite'ning ROM or Villain ROM?
I don't even think it's worth rooting this phone right now. It's up to date, it's fast, all as stock...

With Lite'ning I really improved the battery usage.
VillianROM works for me . Very friendly thread as well .
Plus it doesn't take long to back up things and switch back if its not for you .

I want to know more about the battery usage? How much it lasts?
I actually feel that samsung made this phone pretty beastly as is and did a good job on the fw, so i prefer just stock KG6; I do from time to time flash CM7 to see how its running along with its changes. I say either CM7 or Stock samsung is amazing for this phone.

You sure you are actually using the phone
One week!? I was excited when mine lasted for two days! Put up a picture of this!
And how do I print screen it?

you guys dont seriously believe anyone is getting a weeks battery do you? lol
I tried CM7 and VillainROM 2.3/2.4.2 and stock of course. CM7 and Villain are far better, faster and the battery lasts longer
Don't think there will be much difference in battery life with the use of either one of these ROM themself.
They do use different kernels but you can flash them separately and then use setCPU and underclock / undervoltage and try to improve the battery life slightly that way ....
Also some opengl games (myth defence) don't work well with my old stock rom (KE7). Now with CM7 everything is fine and smooth
NeoPhyTe.x360
Tried both, used Villain Rom for a while. now love NeoPhyTe.x360

Thanks man.
When I updated my Neo V to official ICS .562 firmware, battery was draining tremendously even when in sleep-mode. I left it one night and noticed the battery drain was about 20% in 8hrs.
After trying different kernel for ICS (viz. Stock, Nightelf ICS RC2 & Shardul_Seth kernel) there was hardly any improvement in the battery drain issue.
Due to this I was thinking to switch back to GB 2.3.4 where battery drain was pretty much less.
Before doing that I thought of changing the baseband for testing the battery drain issue. I used the baseband 64 of 4.0.2.A.0.62 version and my battery drain was improved a lot better.
I am currently using Shardul_seth kernel which is based on the Stock kernel only. But it will sure work on Stock and Nightelf kernel also. Please share if it works for you guys.
Steps to follow:
1. Download baseband 64 (based on .62 firmware)
a. Link 1
b. Link 22. Download Flashtool (Only if you don’t have one)
a. Link to download flashtool3. Flash the baseband file onto your phone using the flashtool.
Thanks to Shardul_seth and Night-Elf for providing the kernel for ICS.
You can visit their original thread to download the kernels.
a. Shardul_seth kernel's original threada. Night-elf ICS kernel's original thread
Thanks to aimcr7, I thought of changing the baseband for battery drain issue. (You posted solution for GB using the same concept of changing the baseband and kernel)
If you want to thank me just press thanks button.
Happy flashing.
Use it with your own risk.
Yes its better!
There is definitely a huge improvement in battery life with stock ICS with 64 base band. I kinda arrived at the same solution by accident...but when i did arrive...I thought i let it remain for a few days and see. And yes you are right vinod, its definitely better.
The only difference is that I used Sirkay's ICS 1.1 kernel and I am yet to see the famous ICS lag.. which was the case when i updated the phone to stock ICS with stock kernel. I hope more users will try out Sirkays' kernel...It looks good..plus you can oc to 1.5 to 1.6 ghz with no crashes or FCs.
I'm loving the Neo V ICS experience...the way it is meant to be. Thanks vinodgajaria for confirming that baseband 64 is better on battery and for your instructions. Other users please post your results too.

I am on official ICS but a different kernel..XNeo1.1 by sirkay.. but the original post mentions it would work for stock kernel too. And since I am on unlocked bootloader (TP method, DRM and Track Id available), I cant really give a response to the locked bootloader query but I wouldnt think that is a problem. I think I have seen some threads dedicated for baseband flashing and they discuss the bootloader issue there. However, to answer your other query, I havent come across any lag in scrolling in between screens or any fc with wifi.. but do keep in mind I have overclocked to 1.5ghz and I'm using Sirkay's ICS kernel and I used a completely different method to get to this combo..that is official ICS, Baseband 64 and XNeo 1.1 kernel.
Sorry for side tracking the real issue...The battery backup is awesome..No more drain. 15 hours straight on 3g network with auto sync on..background data, brightness 30 % or less, liberal use of youtube..tune in radio, heavy use of what's app with video and image uploading, no browsing though..atleast not enough to count..and good use of the music player... and I have a fiancé , so logically add to the stats a good number of lengthy calls as well. Cut to the chase the phone was always in use! Current battery level at 38 % and discharging..This should be the baseband working as kernel shouldnt ideally be doing anything to increase battery life..instead with overclocking it would be adding onto the battery drain. However governors are there just for that.

It's based on 2.3.4 because in europe (or at least , in italy) the latest update is 2.3.4 . So the rom is based on our stock rom.
And is known that battery life in EU is better then what stock roms on US give.
Try it if u want

Don't know why you would think Nottachtrix has awful battery life. With Faux 1.0GHz, some mild UV, and application management I get up to 40hrs with medium usage, data on all the time, and WiFi on 50% of the time. Since most people charge their phones on a daily/nightly basis, you only need to get through a day (which doesn't amount to 24hrs for the vast majority unless you are speeding).
