Been having a problem with the regular Skype app(not the Skype Mobile app). Regardless over wifi, 3g, 1X, Plugged-Up, Not plugged-up.. I can't Talk with the person when the phone's screen times out. idk if this is just my phone or all phones, but The app is good as long as the screen is on. I've set the screen timeout to NEVER and as soon as the other person answers the call, the screen goes out and audio fades out.
I have a rooted dx2 if that makes a difference, but I think it doesn't. I would use the regular Mobile App but you can't make calls over wifi. I need this problem fixed because I can't get cell service at my house. The solution I have is that the screen NEVER TIMEOUT, even while in-call. When i "back" away from the phone and the screen comes back on(even while in lock screen), the call has good quality, but as soon as i get "too" close to the device the sensor picks it up and shuts the screen down.
Does anyone have a fix or a work around? BTW sorry if I've posted in wrong section; I am new to this forum.
Bluetooth?

Never really thought bout using a headset, but that kinda defeats the purpose of using it as a house phone. not a bad idea tho.
Bump. Does anyone else have this issue?? Or is it just my phone?

I have a droid X2 rooted and sbf'ed with 2.3.4. I also have a desk dock from Verizon. When I place the phone into the dock (which I do at night) strange things begin to happen. I hear clicking sounds coming from the phone -- the sounds made when you tap on the screen! It goes on intermittently all night, and in the morning instead of the standard desk clock display that kicks in when the phone is docked I have other displays on the screen. Several times it's been the dialer along with a dialog saying "emergency calls only" (who the hell was this ghost trying to call?), a few times the Audible app was on the screen, but with nothing playing. Other times it's been some random app.
I have had to wipe every last widget from the dock screen, and before placing the phone on the dock I switch to a blank homescreen and remove the status and dock bars (thanks, GoLauncher!) to avoid any problems. Not that it's been 100% ... this morning I found the Handcent app running.
Anyone know just WTF is going on here?
Gasper trying to talk to the dead?
I had a problem like that but with out the dock, I had to clean the screen REAL good. Not sure if that would work in this instance but give it a try.

I know the screen acts crazy when ur phone is getting incorrect voltage from the charger/dock...
Might be hardware related tho also...have u.contacted Verizon? Maybe u have urself a "faulty" malfunctioning dock(or even phone)
Good luck...u could always download a ghost detector and see what's going on also hahah

I've had this happen. Try another charger if you have one with the dock then without to help isolate the problem.

I did switch to another charger that has a slightly higher current output (850 ma) and that seems to have done the job. But I'm not uncrossing my fingers until the phone doesn't misbehave for at least a week. But thanks for the suggestion.
Anyone ever get a really low, faint ringing sound on the mopho?
but it is not the ringer...and can only seem to be stopped by turning the device off?
thanks in advance?
Nope, I haven't heard it. What all have you done with your phone?

try downloading "audio manager" from the market. it gives you options to control the different aspects of your phone's sound.
Yes I have run into this issue now a few times. It has happened to my Droid Bionic loaded with a custom rom and a stock rom. Now it just happened with my stock, non rooted, 2 week old Droid Razr Maxx.
The sound comes from the the call speaker and is a continuous ringing. It normally happens to me at night when I am sleeping and the phone is charging, but I have read about it happening to a range of Moto phones regardless of time of day and batt charge.
I'm not too worried about it because a reboot takes care of the issue, but I would still like to see what is making them do it.
I am not sure if anyone else is annoyed by this problem, but I am. Everytime I get into my car I have to make sure to take the phone out of my pocket because if i make a call or receive a call using bluetooth, the screen gets unlocked and thus causes accidental button presses while on and after the call.
This is a real problem. I am not sure if HTC is doing anything to address this, but I know that Motorola and iPhone do not do that.
Please help. If you know of any app that will help out let me know.
Thanks.
Lol put the phone with screen faceting out?
it doesn not feel very comfortable as the camera lens is rubbing against my leg.
Does no one else has this issue?
I think ur phones broke.... Tried it in my buddy's car, screen never comes on...

How did you try it? Did you try both inbound and outbound call using car dialer?
Just out. But screen didn't come on at all maybe it depends on car? R u useing something built into car or external?

build into the car bluetooth.
anybody has any suggestions?
I have the same problem. I get really annoyed by it. As soon as the call ends the screen comes up and calls someone else. Sometimes it comes on during the call and I hit the end button I think

Still no ideas? I found this on a Google search hoping to find an answer. My old iPhone would stay locked if I answered or made a call via my car's Bluetooth. The screen would light up, so I could see sho was calling, but when I answered, it would stay locked. Not with my androids. Had an Inspire, and now have a One X. Both of them will unlock the screen when answering a call with my car's Bluetooth. SUPER annoying!!! Anybody know of an app to keep the screen locked (display lit up, but locked) when answering with Bluetooth?
Ok, I swear I am not going crazy.
It seems like every phone call I have, I hear the other end hit their face w/ the phone to make the beep sound like they hit a number. There is no way every single person I talk to is doing this. I have checked my phone, and the proximity sensor works fine, and my keyboard isn't even pulled up....so it can't be me can it? I'm using viper rom.
Does every person I call have fat faces? I mean, I guess it could be that...but for EVERY phone call to have that sound is just kinda weird. Or...I could just be going crazy.
Deff going crazy or everyone just hitting the phone w their face

I only notice the proximity sensor act strangely (if at all). The screen shuts off immediately at the start of a call. Very annoying, especially when you want to hang up.
Very strange but today during a phone call it happened to me. I did manage to look at the phone and made sure the proximity sensor was working and it was, so i just blew it off and blamed the other person.

Are all the callers calling from iPhones? It's possible they are, and that means they could all have the same quirk with their phone when t connects to a call. Or maybe they do all slap themselves with it. Maybe they saw somebody do it on an Apple commercial so they all have to follow suit?

If you're just hearing it at the beginning of a call, it could be because your phone is connecting to a nearby airrave device. When it is connected, it will make three beeps at the beginning of a call. It could be that you're just hearing the last of these beeps... Or going crazy.

I have this issue as well, except I know what it is. Every single time I hear that sound its from an email, sms, or some other notification popping up during the call.

Yep. I think HTC just made a very poor choice of the notification during calls. Why would you choose an alert that sounds like a key press? And at least so far I have not found a setting to change or turn off this notification.

Are you using a Zagg HD screen protector. The early version of this screen protector covers the proximity sensor. I think if you call Zagg they will send you a replacement. I just cut a notch in the screen protector and it took care of the problem.
My girlfriend does this from her Droid X all the time. Hate the iPhone alert passthrough. so dumb!
I usually keep my phone an inch or two away from my face so its never a problem. It also avoids the screen getting all oily and smudgy. Also, my proximity sensor works as its supposed to, as I constantly check during calls just for fun of it. I am using Realook screen protector without any prox sensor cut offs.
So I decided to give Googlr voice another try just so I could get away from VZWs Visual Voicemail app. I used Voice for my voicemails before right after it first came out but it easnt up to snuff so I switched back to VZW and now that I am wanting to make the change to Google Voice I am having nothing but problems with the volume.
When I first used it I noticed the volume was extremely low on voicemail playback. I used my google-fu but was unable to find a fix for the issue. The volume is so low that I cant make out what is being said most of the time. I get absolutely no sound unless I put it on speakerphone and then I have to hold it up to my ear to even hear anything, and even then it is barely audible.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
I should probably note that all my volumes are maxed out, but no matter what I change them to it doesnt seem to affect the volume for better or worse.

Though I can't speak for google voice, you could always try youmail. It is a visual voice mail app that works pretty good. Though I dont use voice dictation, the paid version has it.

Had this problem when I first installed. Seems to happen when Media volume was set to max. Back it off one or two notches and it may work, it did for me.
I will give that a try tomorrow when I can get someone to leave me a message. Sorry I didnt reply sooner, we had a tornado come thru in Alabama. They said it was 70 MPH straight line winds but I actually saw the funnel cloud pass by my house and there was quite a bit of damage, a couple of 7 foot long 2x4's straight thru some chicken house walls and all kinds of other ****. Also I havent had power so I havent been able to chargw my phone....
Anyway, ill test it out and report back tomorrow afternoon, I just wish I could figure out why its acting so wonky. I really really like it niw but that volume issue is so bad that if I cant fix it I will have ti switch to something else.

I may end up having to switch to that. I really enjoy Google Voice but its ridiculous when I cant even hear the voicemails.....
Thank you for the suggestion

I just went a borrowed my girlfriends phone to test it out. If I adjust the volume while listening to the message on speakerphone it works, the downside is that I like my volume all the way up and in order to hear the voicemail I have to turn the volume down to the halfway point to hear it.. I really dont understand that but at least I got it working! Thank you so much!
