Been having a problem with the regular Skype app(not the Skype Mobile app). Regardless over wifi, 3g, 1X, Plugged-Up, Not plugged-up.. I can't Talk with the person when the phone's screen times out. idk if this is just my phone or all phones, but The app is good as long as the screen is on. I've set the screen timeout to NEVER and as soon as the other person answers the call, the screen goes out and audio fades out.
I have a rooted dx2 if that makes a difference, but I think it doesn't. I would use the regular Mobile App but you can't make calls over wifi. I need this problem fixed because I can't get cell service at my house. The solution I have is that the screen NEVER TIMEOUT, even while in-call. When i "back" away from the phone and the screen comes back on(even while in lock screen), the call has good quality, but as soon as i get "too" close to the device the sensor picks it up and shuts the screen down.
Does anyone have a fix or a work around? BTW sorry if I've posted in wrong section; I am new to this forum.
Bluetooth?

Never really thought bout using a headset, but that kinda defeats the purpose of using it as a house phone. not a bad idea tho.
Bump. Does anyone else have this issue?? Or is it just my phone?

I noticed since I did the update to 198_7 my music plays through the headphones AND my speaker. I have reset my phone and the problem still exists. I have read a few other sites that say others are complaining of this same issue. Is there a fix or a work around for this? My coworkers are not a fan of this feature

mine does the same thing when playing through my truck, i just pause the music plug it in hit play unplug it so it stops the music then plug it back in and hit play. seems like a lot to have to deal with but i guess im just used to it and it seems to work every time for me. otherwise i hear it through the stereo and the phone and battery goes way to fast.
Im running the latest and listen through headphones all the time. No problem at all. Though I only use grooveshark for music.

@custodian considering it could have been a bad update which is considered android developement, it technically could be here as well as q and a.

The same happens to me but only when I am listening to music and a notification happens.
The notification will play through the phone speaker, the music will pause playing through the headset but will play through the speaker for 2 or 3 seconds after the notification stopped and then will continue playing through the headset again.
Permanent solution people!!!!
It happens to my Umi X2 too... But it started happening after 6 months of use with no problem. Someone in another forum said that it has something to do with a thingy which is pressed when the 3.5mm plug from the earphones is plugged in the jack. Anyway the strange part is that when i reboot the phone it works for a couple of days and then it happens again, so definetely a software bug. No one has any kind of permanent solution right?
New to Thunderbolt. Came from dinc 2. Dinc2 has a sensor on the ear piece that disables screen when on the phone. Does Thunderbolt have this? I haven't noticed... Also any known issues with this phone no matter what rom would nice to know (ie : dinc 2 speaker phone isn't to loud.) ***NOTE: I am aware of the battery life lol I have an extended battery life to help ***

Yes the TB has a sensor to turn screen off when held to ear.
No known issues with the TB in general, other then sub par battery life on stock Rom

Thanks! It must be the rom I'm using then because when heald close, screen doesnt go off until 30 secs or so. then when I move it away, it stays off.
Well it's not the rom. Is there a option to enable it somewhere? I'm using bamf forever 1.10. Also I noticed that sounds like turning volume up sound low at first, then you press it again and it's loud. Like, I unlock and volume is really low, then I lock and it's normal sound. Any ideas?

Well fixed the sensor issue. I got a air compressor and blew out the ear piece for dust.

Well I decided to flash "That Rom" v2 and everything went well. Upon first flashing it everything was great but now when I make a call the only way I can hear is with speaker phone. And that had acutally stoped for a while 2. I have flashed 2 other Roms tried other kernels and done a permissions fix. I always flash after doing a full wipe as well I like I said got the call audio to work over speaker phone but that it I get no sound over the ear speaker.
All help would be much appreciated

After seeing so many screen glitches, black screen, random reboots, sd card, etc. posts, it is obvious that the kernel has power management problems. So I decided to wait till a modified/custom kernel appears.
Otherwise it could harm the hardware IMHO.

See I am useing faux123 kernel now and still same issue. I have hard time to beloved its hard ware issue because it was working fine then stoped randomly
Update: now speaker phone is not even working it seems. All sound is dead. Can't even play music over phone speaker. A reboot will bring speaker phone and other south nds back except call ear speaker audio. But stops again after phone goes to sleep

My phone started ringing at a low volume an hour or so ago, I cleared all notifications, changed all settings I thought neccessary to make it stop but it's still ringing

Wow that's crazy. Are you sure you didn't enable the "excuse to not talk to the wife" feature that we added in the settings?
It wasn't the alarm going whacko was it? Were any notifications shown?

I had exactly this same issue a few weeks ago and never did find out what caused it. Weird.

I had the exact thing happen to me too a while ago. It wasn't even a ringtone I have ever used either and it rang until the boot animation started. Some very strange glitch.

that's the overheat alarm if I'm not mistaken. Google it... many people had that issue and I remember trading that the nonstop ringing def was an alarm of some type.

I thought it was mentioned the DNA doesn't have an overheat alarm though? It may throttle or shut down, but no alarm.

I wasn't any alarm or notification. And the phones amber light flashes when it's overheating, but that wasn't the case. Never heard the phone make that ringing noise before. It was sitting on the table not even charging. Just started ringing.

I definitely saw a thread around here about this same situation and it turned out the guys phone was like overheating and just going crazy and it was a constant, yet very subtle ring noise... i forget what he did that fixed it though.

Per HTC there is NO overheat alarm. The unit WILL shut down.
BTW mine was also ringing this morning, this is my second DNA that has done this.. Just might account for a dead battery if I forget to plug in at night. Usually I can get 36 to 48 hours on a battery charge.
my bad. I found the thread. a bunch of people were saying that, not confirmed lol but read this.. someone said it was the roaming alarm?

I have talked to HTC about this issue, they do not have a clue what the cause is.
lol that's always comforting.

Unknown cause - only restart stops it
I too have had this problem several times over the past several months. It is not overheating related nor is it an alarm, a roaming alert or anything else I can uncover. It's an alert of some sort, but damned if I can figure out how to stop it other than restarting the phone. HTC told me they have no history of such a thing, but that could be because it is hard to describe the faint ringing type sound. If you have ear buds plugged in, as I did yesterday while listening to music, believe me it AIN'T faint. It was a full blast chirping ring from ear to ear even though i had my media volume set very low so I could hear the paging system at work. I hope somebody figures out what it is because it's annoying and I'm just plain curious as to what is causing it.

Workaround: Make a call and the ringing will stop.
Background:
I don't know a solution to prevent it occurring again later. I've had this phone about 5 months and it has happened probably five times. (It's not been evenly spread out though. When it happened just now it had been long enough since the last time that I had to Google the workaround again.)
I'm adding the workaround here because this is the first link when I Google this problem. And it didn't yet mention the workaround.
Had this happen the other day. Reboot fixes it but that's a stupid problem to have.
