[Q] Galaxy S2 green screen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
the Samsung galaxy S2 is my second android phone(the first being HTC wildfire).I like the phone. This morning when i was browsing, the phone started getting warm,it happened to me before so i ignored it,then the entire screen, instead of displaying white i got light green colour all over it,so i panicked and did a factory reset and now everything seems fine,What might be the problem,Do i have to return it?
BTW i am stock rom updated to the latest firmware
Thanks

Alright, it have never happened to me. It might not be anything at all - Just a tiny bug - or it could be something serious.
If there is a problem with the OS, the factory reset could have helped. If it keeps doing it, it can be fixed with eg. flashing another fw.
If its a problem with the screen, you might wan to have it replaced or sent it in for repair.
See if it happens again, and then we'll take it from there, k?
I would at least try to close and open the browser again before doing a factory reset
This might help a little. (Click me)

I've had this once too. The colors changed to somewhat inverted colors. It has to do with the auto-adjusting the phone does depending on what is on the screen. It happened when I still had the original Samsung rom running on it.
If you have this again, update your phone, or flash something not stock!

Check your battery graph
Did you experience a sudden extreme peak in the graph at the point when this happened?

If it does it again take it back, but the problem is that it might only do it once every six months or something like that. If that's the case can you live with that? Hard decision but I think I would wait to see if it happens again, try installing 2.3.4 stock

I would try to run the phone a little hot to see if that was the cause. If it happens again I would return the phone.

Yes,
Stress test it, burn baby burn and see if your phone gets upset at being hot and turns into the Hulk

Yes, my battery level dropped to 10 percent from about 60 after the screen turned green. What does this mean?

It means that an abnormal process was eating your battery alive;/

dropped to 10% from 60%?
I had an issue whereby the screen turned bright red/pink when I was using the stock browser. But my battery graph showed a momentary sharp peak up, instead of a reduction.
Is your drop momentary or it just stayed at 10% from then on?

Just for the record....
I've just had a very brief momentary bright green flash. First time this has happened since I bought it 2 months ago.. Playing Spider Solitaire.
Battery graph might shows a teensy 1/2% spike.

[Q]Screen Problem

Hi guys, just got a S2 2 days ago, last night i was playing on it, all of a sudden the screen went green/blue it look like it lost Red channel or the blue channel color in the screen, but i lock the screen and unlocked it and its back to normal and hasnt happened again
just wonder if this has happened to anyone before and how i should go about it
running Stock KE7
thanks
It`s a new one on me, if it happens again get it replaced.
Got that once while checking my phone after a shower. (kept it outside of the shower cabin of course). Turning off and on made it all trippy. I think it's nothing. Just a bug in the "adjust screen to what is displayed to save battery" thing.

SGSII AT&T Random Reboots

Is anyone experiencing random reboots with your phone. It will either just flat out reboot, or the signal meter gets an X then the media scanner function and comes back to normal.
I read on the international GSII's that you wedge a piece of paper in the battery compartment to stop movement or the RAM is bad.
Please any thoughts or advice?
Not at all. I would try a factory reset and if that doesn't fix it return that thing. Good luck

Reboot all the way to the GalaxyS II screen, or back to the bootanimation?
The two are VERY different.
No problems here, even with an experimental kernel.
No reboots on mine as of yet...
Had that problme
Had the same problem, took it back the second day and got a different phone. Works fine since.
Ugggg....
Thank you everyone for the advice. I took the phone back and got a new one. No reboots.....which is great. However, now there is like screen burn in (similar to plasma tvs).....only noticeable with bright white or dark grey screens like when you open the market app and the grey screen appears in the background. Its like a huge discolored grey band right through the middle of the screen. Guess I will take this one back for #3......if this doesnt work Im gonna get something else...
i guess I should consider myself lucky that my phone is flawless

Grey Lines When Temperature Down

This morning when I woke up
I realized there are some horizontal grey lines on my phone screen
Then I was outside jogging
I noticed the lines are gone
When I back to my room
I put my phone right under the air conditioner
After 15 minutes
When I pick up my phone
Those lines are there again..!
I bring my phone to my living room
My living room is without air conditioner
After 15 minutes I watched the lines are disappearing
I was so curious
Then I again... Put my phone under the air conditioner in my room
Those lines are back!
After this experiment
I assumed the temperature cause these grey lines on the screen
Is anyone also have the same experience?
Facts:
* even without *#0*# the lines are quite visible
*I lived in jakarta, indonesia my AC is set at 25C
*Outside my room without A I reckon about 32-35C
*stock kj2 with speedmod kernel
I'll wait if those lines keep coming back
Then have to visit samsung service center and the them about this.
Pics would be helpful ... because the early batches of SGS2 had the Yellow spots/Line issues!
i had that issue too. when i flashed MIUI rom and i could see horizontal grey lines on the white notification bar... so i did some research and its the hardware issue.. sometimes flashing a new rom goes a way but comes back randomly..
It is hardware issue
Just bring it to service center
They replace the whole screen for you

Apparently not.
Don't worry, I had the same problem. It happens when it's pretty cold outside. However the problem just dissapeared..
I had the same issue on my 26" led monitor, Galaxy S, Galaxy S II which bought in May and newer Galaxy S II which bought in November too. My room is 22C and outside is -8C.
Is this be a screen virus Its more noticeable on purple and grey colors. Android 4 uses grey colors and my CM9 looks bad.

[Q] Vertical lines before lock screen & turning on

Hey guys,
This is my 1st Samsung & Android device. Bought it 4 days ago. But I have a strange screen issue . Whenever I press power button to unlock screen or turn on phone, some white vertical bars appear for miliseconds and lockscreen shows up. I'm using checkrom but same problem appears on every rom i tried like darky rom, cyanogen or stock this annoys me so much! I got it from when I was in a foreign country, samsung's international warranty is not applicable in my country. Am I in trouble
i have same problem.
its really very crappy on microbes live wallpaper(not so smooth),
also sometimes its camera get failed and i have to switch off the phone to get camera again working , same happens sometimes in video player, previewing image after taking image from camera takes more time.
someone plzzzz help me to fix this.......
I sometimes get that but a reboot usually fixes it. I think it may have to do with low battery voltage because it only happens on 1 of the 4 batteries I have, usually below 50%.

S2 Hot on standby and cannot turn back on

My Samsung S2 has becomes hot when its switch off and cannot be turned back on. This happens randomly but like about once or twice a day. I have to take out the battery and put it back in to get it to turn on again.
I am on ICS official firmware. been with this problem for months and been trying to find what is the cause. It happen when there is nothing running as in just restarted and also been remove many app now only a handful of popular apps are on my phone such as Facebook, Skype and so on.
I hope someone can tell me the cause.
Thx

You should first install "Android System Info" app frm playstore....
Then in Tasks tab , check out the CPU usage..and then post again...
Check out the CPU usage when the phone is normal and when its hot...

I will try that thx, but i not sure if it can because when the phone is hot its completely dead as screen is black and pressing any buttons will not do anything. I will need to take out the battery and reinsert every time.
It happened to me just that even after battery insert it wont boot. Fixed after warranty claim which replaced screen and mother board
I am in a difficult situation as i brought my phone sim free in the UK but cracked the screen while i was in Malaysia and got Samsung Malaysia to replace the screen. they only had back colour screen so it is a black screen on a white S2. It has some void warranty stickers on the phone after the repair but i not sure if my warranty is still valid in the UK. i am not sure what to do at this stage.
Hi,
I have same problem. My S2 suddenly shut off due to low battery. After that not starting, not charging. Samsung Service Centre says change motherboard. My phone is S2 official ICS.
