I want to port tmobile number nad get $125. How the pre order thing will work with me?
Are you able to add a line to your account and put the EVO3D on that new line, then do a swap of numbers b/w your original EVO4G and new EVO3D so you then have the new phone # on your EVO4G and the original phone number on your EVO3D? Then once done you can cancel the line you just added?
Back with nextel this was common practice by those that upgraded often and was easily done b/c all you had to do was swap the SIM cards back then.
Yep everything but the cancel part

IDK if OP is from androidforums or not, but we had a discussion about this:
HTC EVO 3D Discounts
And pretty much all of us decided against inputting our SSN into a studentrate.com site. IDK how this site can offer this deal when no one else can.
Here is what I am planning on doing to get the EVO 3D. First off, I will pay the ETF (which should be about $100, then I will sign a new contract with Sprint and get the EVO 3D at the discount price. Then I will sell my HTC EVO 4G and offset the price. I spoke with Sprint and the rep said that this is just about the only way to get the phone at the discount price without upgrading my contract.
This site seems a bit sketch...
I got this same deal in the past when I got my HTC Evo. The form didn't ask for any social or credit card info. When I filled it out someone called me so I could place the order with them over the phone

If you do that, Sprint might not take you back immediately. I've heard that if you cancel with them they might make you wait a few months before you're approved for a new account. The other thing is that you could end up hurting your credit. I'm not exactly sure. If you were a sprint Premier member, you might be able to get grandfathered in for your 1 premier upgrade this year, because that's what they did for me.

How??? I called in twice and was told no both times...
If you pre-order one of these phones you're guaranteed the discounts mentioned? Anyone know when the nexus s is suppose to be released?
I have the kinda the same question. Do you only get the discounts if you pre-order? What if I want to just wait till the Evo 3D comes out?
I think the Nexus S is suppose to come out early spring, so maybe this month?
I think you might still be able to get that discount even if you wait until the device comes out... However, considering the shortage of EVOs online due to some of the components being manufactured in Japan, there is a risk that the EVO 3 D will run out and be back-ordered at least that's what I think
Do you think the Evo 3D release date will be pushed back because of this?

It can't be pushed back if it was never announced
for what it's worth. Student Rate is legit. Basically, there's a guy that works there who holds all your info till launch day, and then bulk processes all the pre-orders witha dedicated sprint rep over night.
When I switched to sprint from ATT, my wife and I preordered our Epic4G's that way. I didnt put my CC info or SSN on the student rate form, but I was in constant contact with the guys there over email, and the night before launch day, I gave them the info over the phone.
hey guys. my Evo died about two weeks ago. i will tell you they have been two very hard weeks.
i've decided rather than buy another Evo, that i'll suffer with a POS samsung phone from the dark ages and wait for an Evo 3D.
I have a few questions for you guys:
I'm not a Sprint customer nor have I ever been. what's the process to get a Sprint account? if you have mediocre/bad credit, can you still open a new account? Is there a fee you pay in that case? or do they outright deny you an account? if you pay a fee, how much? if i want two phone lines in that account, twice the fee?
regarding the phone, the $199 is an upgrade price? does that mean if i come on to Sprint now that's not the price I get for the phone?
provided all the above goes well and I can open an account AND get two Evo 3Ds...what's the best price I can expect on the unlimited data plans? based on the Sprint website it's $(70 + 10) x 2 = $160? how much are the "taxes, fees, and surcharges" that they convieniently don't include in that price? is there a student plant/discount?
seems expensive! i'm paying $90 for two lines on MetroPCS right now with everything except slow data speeds...
thank you for your answers guys. I really want the Evo 3D, and having crippled the Evo 4G on MetroPCS for nearly a year, I'm really hoping I can let the Evo 3D work like it's meant to!

You could pay anywhere between 0-400 of 500 dollers for a deposit and yes if you came is get the EVO 3d for 199$ also your bill would be like 160 with insurance I know that seems like a lot a month bot compaired to vzw tmo or ATT its cheap for smart phones
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
My guess is most u will prolly pay is 200 for a deposit unless ur credit is really bad
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
As far as bad credit it is a case by case scenario. usually if you have bad credit they put a spending cap on you. So getting 2 3d's might be hard if they do that. If your credit is bad enough they might deny you BUT i have never heard of this happening. The upgrade price is also the new line price so the phone will be $199 with new activation.
As far as a plan i recommend the 129.99 family plan. with the 10 dollar add on for both 3d's it is only $150. Discounts are available but you will have to check with your school / employer for the percentage off they get you. I know if you have a credit union account you can get %10. But like i said you have to check.
Hope this helps.
My credit is pretty bad and I didn't have to pay any thing down. I do have a spending cap of $150, but since it's only me and my bill has been $86, I have no reason to worry about it. I di have to pay the $35 activation fee on my 1st bill.
Fees for me have been about $16 total on the 69.99 plan. I plan on paying about $100 a month when I get the E3D.
The only reason keeping me from switching my phone over to Metro is the really slow data connection. I was playing on a phone on Metro and the data speed was about 1/3 of what I am getting on 3G
If you want to tether off your phone, which I do when I'm not at home, Sprint has unlimited data. This by far keeps me on Sprint more than anything else. No other carrier offers "truly unlimited data".
Don't forget there is a $125.00 credit if you are coming over from another carrier. It is supposed to expire the day before the Evo3d is released but I have read about people that asked Sprint to extend it for them and they did.
Look into that. Im not sure if it's $125 per phone number or per account. Worth calling about.
Edit, here it is:
http://www.sprint.com/landings/portcredit/?ECID=vanity:switchtosprint
Again, it expires 6/23, but call and ask them about it and they more than likely will allow you the credit. It is only one more day.
working at sprint I never saw a deposit over $150
Sprint is extremely Lax on there credit unless they have changed.
unless you have terrible credit you'll most likely need no deposit.
new line/fully eligible upgrade prices are the same
so if its 199 after rebates you pay 199, and a 36$ activation fee that gets put on your first bill.
take a look at trading in your old device and talk to them about the carrier transfer credit.
This was my scenario as well. I don't have the best credit, in fact it's pretty damn ****ty. Today I was approved for 5 lines, no deposit, and no spending limit. And that's just me, no co-signers or anything. I was even given an account number so when I go back on the 24th, I won't have to do the process over. So OP, I'd say you're in good shape.
I started this thread a while back, you might be able to get one of these discounts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006791
thanks for the information and definitely thanks for the info on the student discount. both my wife and I qualify (she's a grad student, i'm a law student) and that 23% off brings the price down a lot, much closer to what i'm paying now
I work for Sprint, if you have a mediocre credit score you'll probably pay $50 for deposit then if you have a bad credit score you might pay $100 and it's for each line. You'll get the same discount on phones as what others are getting and you will get a balance limit probably $150 to $200. If you port in to Sprint from a different carrier you will get $125 credit and it is for each line. But you will get it probably after 3 or 4 months after your activation and it will automatically apply on your bill. This promo is up until june 26 only.
The family plan is the way to go. If you want to order online you could do the EPRP plan for $109.99 for 1600 minutes shared and $10 extra per line for smartphones coming out to $129.99. I know the 23% student credits that were mentioned don't discount the $10 fee or any additional lines. On the EPRP family plan the 3rd line and up is $15 vs $20.
So im looking to upgrade from my Evo 4g to a Evo 3D the only problem is i dont quite know what would be best. I got my Evo 4G around october and its in really good conditions since i have had it on my Otterbox defender case most of the time. Is there a way that I can trade the OG Evo and get the Evo 3D? I can only spend about $100 on the Evo 3D. What would be my best choice?
Sorry if i make some mistakes my main language is spanish

If you are an account holder, you can upgrade your phone once per year.
Just mention option "one year account holder upgrade override" (or something like that-they would know). At the sprint's service desk they may not advertise it, coz some sprint reps are so damn lazy or just an a-ho-s. Actually I just upgraded my Evo 4G for Evo 3D at the kiosk in Ridgedale Mall (MN) location. I paid including taxes ~$54 for new 3D. The option is that you can trade-in your old Evo 4G for $150 instantly. Sprint runs this on for some time - this week 06/25/2011 at least, so... Also if you have 2 (two) devices on the account then upgrade one or add one to yours. I have 3 phones on $129/mo plan and can upgrade at least one device every year. You can upgrade one of "N" of your devices at once and swap numbers at the spot if you need to.
The strategy here is pretty straightforward:
The Sprint Buyback plan should buy your Evo 4g for $150 (not bad!): see here: https://secure2.sprintbuyback.com/consumer/app/CartPage/
The harder part will be convincing Sprint to give you at LEAST the 1-year renewal price if you buy the 3D. If you've been with Sprint for a long time, and especially if you're with Sprint Premiere, there might be some wiggle room for you here.
Basically, call in to customer service repeatedly until someone decides to help you. What you want is for someone to offer you a service credit.
One more option: see if you qualify for any discounts on your plan: I'm a USAA member (not an employee, just a cardholder!) and I get 15% off my whole bill. That difference will make the 3D pay for itself pretty soon....

Thanks for the great reply! I guess the only problem im gonna have is convincing the Sprint to give me the 1year renewal early since ive been with them for way less than a year. Maybe they will give me some mercy since everything has been paid on time. Also do i have to unroot my phone when i give it to them?

I unrooted before trading mine in, the link I followed was here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
Ya, don't forget to unroot if you trade in!
If you've been with them less than a year..then your best option is to find a friend who loves your 4G and is willing to take over your contract--then you can walk in and pay $200 for a new 3D on a brand new account.
If you pay full price - $150 trade in credit you're still looking at $425, ouch...
Another option (what I did): have any friends you'd be willing to split a plan with? They can be added as a line of service (most likely $20/month +$10/month for data) and then you can swap the two phones, and your friend will have the 4G.
Finally, keep your eyes peeled for if and when the SAVE50 rebate becomes usable again. It seems to come and go (probably only usable on a new line of service tho).
Don't trade in your phone. It will sell in a day on Craigslist at 225 no problem. Why give away that extra 75 dollars to sprint. Usually its hard to get the full upgrade unless you have been with them for a year. Once you get the 75 dollar credit one phone call should give you a full upgrade.

I didn't have it Pre-Ordered so I am hoping the phone is still stocked at stores. I can't decide on the the cheaper Wal-Mart/Amazon 2yr Activation, or the enticing Sprint Credit of $125 for Porting my number. I definately know I am going with the Evo 3D though as My G2X is being sold today (Already found a buyer).
Honestly I can wait if stock is completely out since I have a backup Nexus One, but I don't think I will miss my G2X. Great phone provided it stayed powered on and my GPS could lock, but I can't continue to go through G2Xs until the White Buffalo (2.3 with fixes) pushed. Just my luck, it will days after It's gone from my hands, but judging from what I have read about the 3D, I don't think I will care.
Basically, just inquiring as to what deal could be better.
It's hard to beat the 125 dollar port-in credit. On top of that, you get 300 bonus minutes if you sign up for the everything data 450 plan, that offer expires the end of June if I'm not mistaken.
Dude so is this is a new line of service? Definitely go with the $125 port credit, that'll beat anything else.
Since the price difference is $105, and since Sprint always ships their phones HELLA fast, you can basically use the difference to
(1) buy a great $50 case (otterbox, etc)
(2) get 15 months of $7 insurance, or
(3) get super drunk.
totally worth ordering thru sprint. I'm assuming the stores are sold out? Because if not, they'll do the $125 port credit too and then it's instant gratification
ALSO, never forget to try and find out if you're eligible for any discounts--for example, since I'm a USAA member (not an employee, just a account holder!) they give 15% off the entire bill!

Oh ok, thanks for the heads up on the USAA discount. I practically live through USAA so I will make sure they give me my 15% discount.
$125 Port-In credit then. I am going to check store inventory today and setup service there before I try online (I like instant gratification, 2-5 days delivery is too much torture!).
I've been told that sprint stores were suppose to get more shipped to them on Monday. If you want it, call the stores an ask. I did when I wanted to exchange the Nexus S during my 30 day period.
i havent seen this posted anywhere but if you are switching to sprint this is something to consider:
Sprint EPRP
Sprint Employee E-Mail Address + CID for EPRP Plans (SERO Replacements)
After seeing repeated requests for Sprint Employee E-Mail Addresses and the Last 3 Digits of the Employee's ID Number (CID) to get Sprint's Everything Plus Referral Program Plans (which replaced SERO), here is an employee's information that was intentionally made public:
URL: Sprint | Everything Plus(SM) Referral Program
E-Mail: [email protected]
Last 3 of CID: 383
(Reference: http://mcguireslaw.com/2008/07/16/ps...erything-plus/.)
This information was made public by Russ Mcguire on 7/16/08, and is posted on this forum so potential and existing Sprint customers who are interested in getting an Everything Plus Referral Program Plan can get one. (I know there is at least one other Sprint Employee E-Mail Address & CID made public by Sprint a few months ago so the general public can access EPRP Plans, but I can't find that article anymore. I'll post it in this thread once I find it.)

EPRP gets no discounts on top of it. So if you have a discount you might be better off that way. Last time I switched I went from the Old Sero to EPRP so they didn't make it that hard, not sure how easy it will be to take a regular account to EPRP though. Can't hurt to call.
Thanks for the replies and information everyone. I found a Sprint kiosk in my local mall that participated in the Port-In Credit (Sprint Corporate store down the street told me the promotion had ended.) and purchased my Evo 3D along with getting my USAA discount.
I have to say, this phone is really impressive. Coming from my G2X the performance wasn't mind blowing, but I feel much more comfortable with this phone than I did with my G2X. Don't get me wrong, my G2X was monster of a phone, as long as it wasn't having major issues but I think I like the 3D better long after the newness of the phone wears off and I actually don't mind the Sense UI. Not sure if I will ever purchase an LG Smartphone again after the way things have been handled in regards to the G2X.
Looking forward to the unlocked bootloader soon and seeing what the Dev community has in store for this beast.
I called T-Mobile and asked for retentions and told them I needed a good deal on the Amaze without a rebate. They gave it to me for ~ $250 w/ tax, no rebate, waived shipping charges, and gave me a $120 statement credit (about one month of service on my family plan). It pays to ask!
They also told me I could keep my $25/mo 5GB 3G data plan, but I see on the website that I now have the $30 data plan. I'll complain but I doubt I'll get very far on that one...
I'm really excited about replacing my N1!
Wow. That is a good deal.
T-mobile retention, I better write a note about it for my 2013 renewal
I'm a former employee. Here's a trick. If you want to get a new phone and you've had T-Mobile for a long time, then do this. Call them and complain how your phone is a piece of sh*t and how it reboots itself and what not. Threaten to go to another carrier because their flagship phones kicks T-Mobile's phones ass and you don't mind paying the ETF (Early Termination Fee / Cancellation Fee). They'll transfer you to Customer Loyalty. Tell them your phone sucks and you will go to another carrier. They'll give you an awesome discount on the phone.

Thats not the right way to go about getting a deal guys, customer loyalty is great if your contract is close to ending because we will do the most we can to help you 6 months or less is best and its more helpful when you have more then one line because we can use more things to give you a better deal. You don't have to be pissed off or have an issue with your phone, you are a benefit to the company and we are there to help you anyway we can, and don't be surprised if we can't beat deals from costco, walmart, wirefly a lot of times on single lines sometimes even just on family plans they have real good deals.

I honestly don't feel that it takes any tricks or lying and threats.
I've been with Tmobile for 7 years and I've upgrade plenty of phones either free or at a discount.
The only thing you need to do is be polite and be patient.
I've always found the reps willing to go the distance as long as I'm patient and as long as I have the nerve to ask.
Don't be afraid to ask for an upgrade.
Don't be afraid to ask for a different phone when you do a warranty exchange.
9 out of 10 times they won't make you an offer on their own.
And this leads people to believe that they should threaten to cancel or complain and throw a fit to get these deals the reps don't offer.
First off, that just makes you look childish.
And who knows if they make a note of that on your account or not?
I just ask them when I want something. If that rep can't help me they'll pass me along the CoC or I call back. No biggie.
Try it, give them a call and say
"Hey...so I just saw this new phone that I really want to get but I don't qualify for an upgrade yet...is there anything you guys can do for me?"
I have four voice lines and a MBB line. I've never had an issue getting a (slightly) early upgrade or some kind of deal. I always treat CSRs the same way I like to be treated (kindly, with respect and patience). I've gotten really good deals with T-Mobile.
Wasn't me!! I didn't do it!
