I just ordered the iGrip Car Dock, but I would also like to be able to mount this dock to my vent. Is there any attachment available to buy that allows me to mount it to my vent instead of my windshield or dash?

Igrip's site is under maintanence but if you go to igrip.us and look at other mounts you'll see they have plenty of bases you can use with the evo dock you bought. I bought a screw in mount, but they have 2 different air vent mounts.

the leather mount are made by Kuda, pretty pricey in the $60 range
there are some other Vehicle specific mount makers slightly cheaper... not leather though
ProClip, ProFit and PanaVise
Amazon doesn't seem to carry them - is there a trusted online retailer for Kuda?

also try ebay, Kuda have an account there and for some models its cheaper on ebay
Thanks guys
I ordered the Kuda - now just need to get the mount from igrip
How do you mount the iGrip adapter to the Kuda base?
Also, the iGrip website says the mount only swivels 45 degrees. Is that sufficient for rotating the phone from portrait to landscape?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
swivel is different than rotate... swivel... think tilting the screen left and right.
rotate should be 360, then you can go landscape... portrait.. upside down.... etc.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Yeah the mount I posted rotates 360 my kudabase already angles it towards the driver. I ordered from their ebay shop it was free shipping there. They shipped next morning.
Do you have the part number for the mount you attachedto the kuda base?

Odd their main page is still down but the link from my receipt still works. http://shop.igrip.us/igrip-swivel-plate/3A207A9041A.htm

Thank you!
I was going to buy the cradle by itself too but doesn't look like they sell it that way.

HOLY DASH MOUNT!! You are going to have to use street view instead of the windshield to see where you are. LOL I'm sure there will be better options soon
Hi,
I'm using one similar to that but mine's a vent mount and its pretty awesome i think. The reason I got one of these friction beasts is so that i can use it with my gps and phone. Yours seems to be better than the vent mount because it swivels. Mine doesn't swivel. But overall it works and its a very good multi tasker. I usually have it on landscape and don't use the little prongs. The foam pads are good enough to hold both my phone and gps.
I bought a cheap one from Frys for $15, it has a very similar clamping design but uses a flexible gooseneck and a suction mount. It works well, the friction mount part holds the phone well. I am not a huge fan of the gooseneck though. I cant wait to get back home and start modding on it, I think I can make it much better!

I purchased a windshield car mount from pocket solutions. Works great and built well.

This type of mount actually blocks the charge port so you can't charge it while in the car. Kinda a deal killer because GPS uses so much power. Phone will be dead when I get to my destination.
I ordered one of those that said it had 3 clips instead of the 4 but they sent me one with 4. Then the ebay seller, lovelypriceelement, emailed me back saying that the 3 clips one doesn't exist EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS ON THE PAGE THAT THE USB PORT ISN'T BLOCKED!
Don't buy this if you want to charge in the car.

I wish I remember where i got mine. It took me 3 different ones before i found one i liked, bought them retail....just kept returning them until the 4th was the best (around $25). It has 2 clips that clip onto the vent, and a support arm between the clips that rests again the vent, doesnt move at all and the charge port is completely accessible.

If you could find out where you got that one, that would be great. Looking for a more elegant solution to mount my G1 in my car.
I've seen the vent mount one at Staples but I don't know if it would work in my car. How long are the arms that clip onto the vent. I have a Mazda 6 and my vents are like the one in the middle of this picture:

For those who have used the vent clip mount, do you think that it would mount to the vents just above the radio in that picture? When open they have a curved front and they are a bit deeper than the average vent.
wrong thread.

So far so good... it's has this dumb photo holder (the clear plastic thing) and it came with a pic of an asian chick posed over a car! LOL!

Saw this on their website last week and it was for pre-order.
It's now in stock. You can buy it online or pick it up in store, I'm in Southern California and it's available at 6 Fry's near me.
http://www.frys.com/product/6641864
I've ordered it. Getting the Keyboard Dock shipped this week also, hopefully the combo fits great in this bag.
EDIT: This case completely BLOWS. Like others have said, it's not a tablet case, it's a netbook case.
The handles are attached from the inside, you can't have the zippers closed with the handles out.
Whenever I'm near a Fry's i'm going to return this POS.

Looks kind of basic. I bought a neoprene bag that is similar that has a pocket for about $10 from Fry's. Let us know if there is anything special. I might stop by my Fry's this weekend to take a look
If this is meant for the Transformer why does the shape look out of wack? That bag is almost square as opposed to the Transformer which is definitely more rectangular.
wish it came with a shoulder strap.

B/c this isn't a tablet bag - it's a netbook bag.

Hi all,
I bought this bag yesterday. It fits the tablet w/ keyboard nicely and is pretty good quality. The issue I have is that it doesn't comfortably fit the charger as the bag is kinda thin w/ limited extra space. I'm considering this one instead, as I have it for my full size laptop: Targus CityGear Netbook Case for up to 10.2 Inch Netbooks
All in all, good bag for the 15 buck price, but as I want the extra space for the charger and a portable external drive and mouse, probably gonna spring for the Targus.
Somewhatdamaged
I didn't see one at the Fry's here in San Marcos. I've got a $10 generic netbook case that has a pocket for the power adapter.

Whats the point of having a slim tablet if you are going to lug it around like a netbook, with powercords and all?
So, I got the Ringke Slim hoping it would fit with the ProClip . . . which it didn't.
It would slide in ok, but the alignment to the charging port was off by nearly an 8th inch.
I had to take the dremmel to the mount to get it to work, but it works. Surprisingly, the phone still fits pretty snuggly even without the case
I got the hard-wired mount, so I also dremmeled a small gap in the console for the power cable and an audio cable.
Waze looks great on this thing!!
Let me know if the pictures show up or not . . . experimenting with using facebook to image host

When you order the ProClip you get the dock and mount together with a mount specific to your car.
They have a standalone dock, a lighter charger dock, and a hardire dock. I got the hard wired. Pulled the console out and soldered the positive lead into the existing cigarette lighter power supply with an inline 2a fuse and grounded to the existing ground.
I already had an ipod interface installed to work with the factory head unit, and that interface also has auxiliary input. Just ran the rca through the same hole for the power cable and plugged it in to the ipod interface unit behind the dash.
I always bought ProClip USa mounts for my devices. They are vibration free, and very quality products.
However I'm surprised they don't have the adjustable dock for the note (like they did for my iPhone 4). It would allow for different case widths...I guess they don't do it for all devices.
Is that a tape player in your car?

LOL . . . no. There was an option tape deck that fit under the cd deck so it's got the button on there for input selection. I have the "cash box" under the head unit and in the cash box is an old iPhone 3g hooked up to a PA11-HON which charges and controls the playlists through the factory deck.

It was either this one or the "universal mount" . . . I didn't want to play with the universal thing so I got this knowing I'd either need to mod it or go case free. It's still snug as a bug even without the case, but I think I may have voided my warranty and affected my resale value
I went to Sprint today to get the car dock. Unfortunately, even with it's extra space for a cover it just isn't big enough to accommodate the Defender. Does anyone have a suggestion on a dock that would work?

keep on the lookout for slipgrip mounts on ebay, the guy does mounts for a lot of the popular cases. It won't have the dock functionality but it'll hold the device at the least, just connect your own power from the cig lighter

That looks like it would work - I have more chargers and cables so don't need a powered dock. Have you used these before? My only concern is that I drive a Suburban and the windshield is a long way from the front of the dash if I am going to mount it low. I suppose I could mount it up near the mirror though.

Yea i have, i got the vent mount and the bike mount and had they guy ship them separately so i could use just the dock part with my proclip vehicle specific mount.
Here's some pics of the old evo setup, the bracket that goes in the dash is from proclip, i just made some small modifications and screwed the mount on to the ball joint that then screws in to the bracket. I ran a second lighter socket to the 5v source behind the original sig lighter, plugged a belkin microusb charger in there and ran the wire out. I also ran a 3.5mm from the line in behind the HU to right near the mount. Its a lot neater now than it is in the pictures as i've ran the wires again but you get the idea.

Mine is the stock dock and it goes to portrait easily.
Am I missing something?
I'm not using the stock mount, just the dock itself. It's mounted with a universal mount that doesn't swivel. I recommend the craigsdock because overall, its much nicer than the iBolt.
I use this iBolt ProDock. Fits the extended battery nicely. Hoping it lasts because I am tired of buying a new dock if and when I buy a new phone.

I have the CraigsDocks dock as well. Not only is it universal, and made of aluminum instead of plastic, but it is made by a guy who has outstanding character. I bought one of the original docks, and it worked fine. It ended up on the floor of my car (kids...) and got bent. When I tried to straighten it, I broke it. I contacted Craig to inquire about a new piece for it, and a new suction cup mount (he doesn't make these, just sells them as a courtesy), and he said that he had made improvements since I got mine, and that he was unhappy with the strength of the original ones, so he sent me out an entire new dock, cable and all. Talk about going above and beyond... I BROKE IT, and told him so, but he still felt he was responsible and sent me a new one. He WILL get more business if I ever need another dock, and I will sing his praises here as well!!!
