[Q] downloading on SGS II - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, i have some troubles with downloading from filestube, fileserve, wupload etc. I tried it in default browser,Dolphin HD and Opera mini. I have read an advice to allow download in Astro file manager. I allowed that, but no change is happening. On my last phone -HTC Hero it worked. Please, can U help me?

go into astro settings and enable browser downloads

Exactly that i did...

I use Download All Files http://market.android.com/details?id=com.hwkrbbt.downloadall

Dont ask me why but i was also going crazy over this. I thought...doesn't anybody notice this?
Okay, so the solution i took from the original galaxy s, go to date and time, turn off automatic.
See if that helps.

I'm sorry, but how can i use it. I didn't understand to "download all files" aplication. I installed it, tried download in browser, but no change. How can I download with that ?

Well have you changed the Stock Browser to Desktop by entering 'about:useragent'? I also had that problem and doing that trick worked for me.

Do you still get download failed when you use "download all file " app ?

Use the proper Opera browser rather than opera mini, works with filehosts

[Q] Can't download anything with the built in browser?

Stock Galaxy 10.1 3G tab currently used only in WiFi.
Everytime I try to download a file (*.JPG in this case) it starts then immediatly comes back with *download unsuccessful*
After fiddling around I tried another browser (Dolphin HD) same problem.
Installed the app "download all files" same problem.
Don't know where else to look Anyone here have an idea?

i have nearly the same problem. from some sites i can't download. the download starts, but just after a few seconds it stops. it says "download successfull", but unfortunately it just downloaded a few bytes, not the whole file.
also happend with different browsers, too.

Have also stock Galaxy 10.1 3G tab, and have experienced no problems whatsoever with downloads. Am using stock browser only.
odd, I guess I'll try installing a bunch of browsers see if that fixes it.
Firefox works, ofc its slower than the others but hey if I want to download all I have to do is copy the url and...
this sounds like a lot of work for a workaround

[Q] non-market APK > cant click "install"

Hi all,
Just moved to the S2 from a horrible Moto Razr experience, very glad and loving the community here
I'm on stock ICS and Chainfire Root and am unable to install APK's downloaded from outside the Market:
Launching the .apk file opens the permissions dialogue, but once I'm there clicking on the "Install" button just doesn't do anything. No errors, nothing.
Been looking everywhere for an answer, tried moving the apk out of the SD to internal storage, to different folder, ticked/unticked/ticket "unknown sources", unmounted/mounted again, redownloaded the APK and nothing.
Hi.. DId you try to reboot the phone? i was facing the same issue where any app i tried to install just didnt get installed. The install button was not greyed out however it acted as though it was.
I rebooted the phone and poof! the issue was gone! havent faced it again yet...
Try it and let me know!
Cheers!

Hi buddy and thanks. Tried that many times and still no go.
Might reflash ICS/Root, but would rather avoid having to do that if a simpler solution exists

May be you need to push in system/app and not install?
having same prob here... found d solution?
I had the same problem when i rooted my phone and didnt flash any custom ROM. I just installed MIUI, and poof, issue gone. You may want to flash a different ROM, or try just factory resetting your phone ?
turn off screen filter
if you're having screen filter, turn it off and see whether this helps
happened to me too, after turning it off everything worked fine

Unmount memory card and try to install it again you can remount afterwards.
I think my real problem is with the ads-blocker that dont let medscape get to update and download (They say this in their app page on google play). I can install the app but cant get it to download the content needed. So how can i deactivate ad-blocker or another way to get pass this situation?
Sorry if its a noob question, but i really would like to install ICS and have this app

You have already answered yourself.
Remove add blocker or read its instructions to revert hosts file and update .
It works for me but i do not use ICS .
jje
Stated Fixes don't work
I've tried the above methods w/ no avail. Medscape still does not work offline. "Internet connectivity interrupted"
Nexus 7 running android 4.1.1
Rooted w/ Wugfresh
Adfree NOT installed
superSU # installed
busybox free installed
host files (in etc/ and system/etc) don't show anything except "host 127.0.0.1"
works fine w/ internet connection, but would like to have it without.
updates fine as well...just doesn't show offline content for some reason...
HELP!
Thanks!

If you have installed ad-blocker / custom rom / rom toolbox, then please remove and try again. However, when ad-blocker is the issue the app clearly mentions it and i am sure you must have tried it.
How i got it to work
Go to settings ------> developer options -----> uncheck 'Don't keep activities'
This worked for me and a friend of mine.
Hope it helps.

[Q] Weird issue after rooted...pls confirm?

Can someone else confirm this....I have noticed (after rooting)....open your browser then go to www.goal.com/en. You will notice you cant click on any link? every time you have to open into a new tab to see? I am not sure if it is anything to do with flash? But I am pretty sure, when I got my phone first time (at that time there is NO ROOT yet), and I can browse Goal.com without an issue. Or maybe someone know the work around this issue??
I just tried Goal.com on my rooted stock rom and it works fine. try clearing your browser cache and cookies. if that does not work, go to applications in settings and clear all browser data.

Andro, please make sure it is www.goal.com/en (not just www.goal.com, where it auto detect your location...for example if you are in Australia...it will automatically go the australian, and then switch to specialized mobile format, not the full size if you are on a PC). IF you go the full site (not mobile format) and the international site (that's why make sure /en) you will notice...any news or link, you cant just open by touching on it...you need to open into a new tab. The site open just fine...but when browsing the news, you have to open a new tab.
You know some of you may think....ah it could be just the site issue?? but one thing that I dont understand, when I was with stock ROM unrooted, I am pretty sure it work ok Anyway, I will try to find a work around (tried clearing cache etc...still the same).

I am pretty sure you must be in mobile format right?? you know some web site when they detect your mobile, will go to a mobile format (you know what I mean). If you go to the mobile format, it work just fine (so am I). What you need is to browse it like if you are to browse from the PC (not mobile version)....you will see the issue.
NOTE: OK I think I fixed it....just want to make sure what cause the problem.. I will update once I find out what causing the problem.

I have fixed the issue.....(I have updated my respond to you)...Just need to make sure what cause of the problem. I think it must be restoring the data from the Titanium backup. But really strange even clearing the data from the APP setting still doesnt work. Anyway, I have flashed Football latest ROM, and tested the browser it's all good.
UPDATE: NAH.......it's messed up again....I dont know WHY?? I didnt restore from anything yet (not even Titanium) or auto restore from google, and when I browse the site, it wont open on first touch the link. DAMN...I give up. I really dont know what causing it.
