[Q] Can you restore a touchwiz rom in MIUI? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently on MIUI but can you restore from Project V?
Will it not work since it is on a different filesystem?!

You have to Odin back to stock first as they are different file systems.

if it's the clcockwork flash the from the macnut thread, it will not work with the 2.2 odin release and it will not work with 2.1 stock roms.
There isn't a clockwork flash for 2.2 stock (to my knowledge) right now.

[Q] CM7 -> Stock -> CM7

Is it possible to do a Nandroid backup before switching to stock then go back to CM7 using the backup? Yeah the stock has to be rooted and with CMW installed before doing all this, I know. I'm just really curious. I want to try going stock for a couple of days then have the power to go back to CM7 whenever I want.
Yes

How to safely change rom that have different kernals?

So I have been using ICS Crumble which it has it's own kernal. And Now I want to use a different rom that uses a different kernal. How would I do this safely?
If it is a CM9 ROM from the development forum then you can just flash it. The kernel will be replaced automatically

But wouldn't that cause boot looping if i use odin since after I'm done it'll reboot? Or should I just use
Recovery to put them both? If so should I do the kernal first?

Which ROM are you trying to flash? If it is Odin flash able then it will just replace the kernel you currently have. You will only have issues if you flash a ROM without an inbuilt kernel

I don't think that trying CM7 on a stock GB kernel (or even stock based custom kernel) is a good idea. The rom will boot properly, no doubt about that but you will most likely get fc's.

Ok, I'm on CM7 kernel, thread to close
