Ok, I'm sure everyone on the forum has seen this a hundred times... But I'm a serious noob, so please help me out here.
Whenever I go to Google Maps and try to lock onto my location, it just says "Your Location is temporarily unavailable". When I first got my phone (with the first hour of getting it), I tested Google Maps and it locked onto my location fine. Only after a day later did I get this problem.
I found some GPS fix made by Eugene, and put it on my phone via USB and went to ROM manager and installed the zip file (I don't even know if that was the right thing to do lol )...
After that, I still get the "Your Location is temporarily unavailable" problem.
Is this a problem I can fix, or am I missing something big here...?
Set it back to stock. I've applied the settings fix and then I tried flashing that rom - none of it made a difference on my phone.
Back to stock and I lock in under a minute, only one or two sats but at least its something.
You stated you were getting locks when you were on stock settings so it looks like your solution is obvious, go back to stock and wait patiently for a fix

No, I didn't get a lock before I rooted my phone at all.
meh, I don't use my GPS too often anyway, so I guess it's not a big deal.
I just feel like I'm paying for the service, so I should be getting.
w/e though...
I recently purchased an HTC Evo V 4G on Virgin Mobile. Otherwise known as the HTC Evo 3D (it even says Sprint on the case.)
I'm having this problem where seemingly at random I will attempt to make a call or a text and it won't go through. My signal bar will suddenly drop to 0 and when it comes back I am unable to do anything. No data, calls, or texts will go through. I am then forced to restart my phone (with Fastboot off otherwise I need to take out the battery) to get it working again. It's hard to notice when this happens unless I notice I'm not getting any texts back. At that point I call my voicemail to see if it works.
Was this a problem people had with the phone on Sprint? Is this new to VM and caused by that? I'm not a new VM customer either. I never have problems like this. I don't know if there's conflicting apps causing weird behavior, it's something on VMs causing the behavior, if this is a known issue, etc.
Any help or guidance I can get will be much appreciated.
More info:
When SMS messages won't go through it displays:

Details:
"SMS Error

I'm not sure about the error but I have had weird things like that (not same) happen to me since flashing the vm firmware from the leak and using an ics rom. Going to airplane mode and back usually helps me, might save the trouble of restarting.

Same thing happening here!!!! I flashed the vm firmware so I'm guessing it's that
I've tried airplane mode to no avail.
I'm on Virgin Mobile... I wonder if it matters that I have a Sprint labeled phone? I assume that VM users are getting old stock of the EVO 3D and they didn't want to bother re-branding until they ran out. Which means that I'm in nearly the same situation: I have the EVO 3D flashed with the VM ROM. Maybe that's causing issues?
Try one thing, I believe I fixed my problem for now at least. Dial *#*#4636#*#* , go to phone information, scroll all the way down and the preferred network mode should be set to "WCDMA". Change it to "CDMA auto (PRL)" then restart your phone. If you are already on the one I'm telling you to change to then I got no idea. I was getting the exact same error codes as you and that random service drop, haven't had it since I made this change. Let me know how it goes

I don't know the technicalities but I just know that it fixed for me and in the past have seen people recommended that.. it all comes down to just messing with it yourself you know, it's not dangerous to change if anything goes wrong just revert back
the same thing happened to me, and i flashed back to the sprint firmware using the firmware recovery thread, and that seemed to fix things, however i don't know what flashing sprint firmware is going to do

Thanks for the tip.... but that's what it's set on. Think it would do anything to change to WCDMA, restart, and then go back to CDMA Auto (PRL) ?

##3282# from dialer
go to edit mode and enter msl(use msl reader from market if ur rooted, if ur not rooted u will have to ask sprint for it)
hit menu at top right corner of edit screen "reset"
This will re-provision ur data profile with Virgin Mobile and clear out any hodgepodge. But if u bought the phone from VM and its doing that I doubt a data profile restore will fix the problem. I had the Sprint 3d and flashed the VM ICS leak and it caused the same problem for me and most of the other Sprint users that flashed it. I think it has something to do with how ICS interacts with the carrier network (radio interface daemon) hence the "radio interface resource shortage" error. Once once the developers realized the VM firmware was not need to flash ICS, it worked flawlessly with Sprint firmware.

I knew the first thing I should have done is root this phone... especially since I'm coming from an Optimus V that was rooted 90% of the time I had it if not more.
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!
I tried getting my MSL and was unsuccessful. Is this something phone specific or account specific? I found my MSL from my last phone since that's rooted.
I don't know if it's caused by ICS, my Windows setup, or what but attempting to finding my MSL was a hassle this time around. I can get pretty far into the steps but since the guide isn't written for my phone there seems to be something I'm doing wrong. I read through hundreds of comments and tried everything I could, too.

If u asked them for it and they wouldn't give it to you just tell them you are having problems getting your phone to access data and send texts with the network and can they walk you through how to reprovision it. They should tell you to dial ##3282# and enter a code. That 6 digit code they read out to you is your MSL. Write it down.
You can try this as well

Also here's one that works without root.

Nothing seems to be working unfortunately. I've tried every method, read every comment, and tried anything I could. Thanks for all of your help. I realize that not many other people have this phone on VM but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will likely end up rooting when I have the time.
Hey guys.
Tonight has been a very frustrating night overall.
I'll write my current problem here, so that those who can help can reply right away, below you can find a summary of the nights problems.
I can't get mobile data to work. It says its on if I go into settings, but I get no connection. If I add the widget in motoblur and try to toggle it, it says "Mobile Data is unavailable", and nothing else. Any solutions..? I have rebooted phone several times, as well as removed SIM card and put it back.
Long story:
I uninstalled Launcher7 today since I wanted to use something more "regular" before the release of the european ICS. After uninstalling it and fiddling around with Moto Home Fix to get the phone to even recognize that I have a default launcher, it got stuck in airplane mode. There was just no getting it out of it. Eventually I got so pissed of I just factory reset the phone. Now I have normal radio, and Wifi, but no Data connection. The error it gives is "Mobile data is unavailable" when I try to widget-toggle it.
If I go the long way in settings it says its on. Do I need to do something in the first time setup before it starts working? Its been so long I dont remember. I have registered my google account.
Please guys, help!
Do you have Verizon? I know in the Play store there is an app by Verizon to fix mobile data connection problems.
Sent from my DROID RAZR Maxx using XDA Premium
No, I have Tele2/Comviq, a Scandinavian operator.
However it seems that when I uninstalled the launcher it also cleared all my APN-settings. Which was.. A whole bunch that I manually entered. Oh well, guess that servers me right for not keeping a backup.
Will report this to the Launcher7 author, even though I doubt he'll do anything since its been a long time since last update.
So a few days ago my friend gave me his old phone -- a Motorola Devour. I was pretty happy about it, until i found out about Motoblur, and how until i fully disabled it it would just factory restore the phone every time I turned it off and back on. So then I went through a huge process trying to disable that and keep everything on restart, which I did. My question here, as you may have gathered from the title, is this: Is there a way to update the phone without having a service provider? The main reason I did all of this was to try and get some free wifi texting apps because I haven't had a way of communicating with some of my friends in a while, none of which I can find in the store, I'm assuming because the phone is out of date. Thanks in advance

I had to install a root, then go into the files and delete the thing that makes blur required to run the phone without factory resets every time it restarts.
Hi everyone,
I was hoping I could get some ideas from the community on how to solve my problem with the HTC Locations app.
So, background. I own an Wind Mobile HTC Amaze 4G. Never rooted, modded, etc. I did unlock it when I first got it. It's not caused problems since.
I use the HTC locations app extensively and successfully. However, before a recent trip to New York, I tried downloading the newest maps by selecting the 'Get more' option. It started downloading, but somewhere along the way either my phone or the app shut down. The existing map itself works, but when I try to access 'Get More' and to to the 'my licenses and content' page in order to finish downloading it, I get the 'Locations has stopped unexpectedly' error and it returns me to the map. Whenever I restart my phone, I also sometimes get a network connection error download failed type message in my status bar generated by HTC Locations that I can only clear - it's essentially saying it could complete the download.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
