here's what else I've done to resolve my issue (as seen on XDA): Hoping someone on this thread may have other suggestions.
-Boot into recovery and randomly pressing back and menu button for a few
(worked for the next little while)
-*#*#2663#*#* and update TP Firmware and tried updating both too
(again, it worked for the next little while)
Now it seems to be worse. It just doesn't work at all. Reboot, battery pull and retrying the above now doesn't work.
Went from a Stock 2.3.3 (rooted) ROM and tried Lite'ning ROM. Of course, factory reset after flashing custom ROM but that also would make it work for the next little while too.
Any suggestions??
^bump
anyone else have this problem? I just flashed back the Stock kernel and firmware that is for Three UK and factory reset. Same problem.
I guess no one else has experienced this issue...I got me a lemon.
I spoke with Samsung and they'll be fixing it for me under manufacturer's warranty.

Anyone experienced this annoying issue? after installing ryan heavy rom ( very good by the way ) the phone froze, i soft reset it and it came back to the auto-customization screen completely wiped out. it happened 3 times in 1 week. flashed again, same problem. is it a Bad rom or do I have a bad phone?
Probably a bad flash. Flash to a different ROM, then flash back to RM. When the customizations begin, perform a hard reset. It worked for me when I was having the same problem.
I have a Sprint HTC touch pro. I unlocked it the day I got it, and have flashed mightyrom6, juicy, and a couple others to it without problem. What I'm seeing now is the ROMs are going very slow, freezing when I just try to read a text message, etc. I have a feeling that some things from the ROMs aren't completely getting wiped when I flash the new ROM. Someone suggested flashing the stock OS to the phone to clear this garbage. Is this a good idea? Does anyone else have this problem, or a solution to it? Thanks
It's definitely worth a try, it worked for me.
I had been trying out all the new 6.5 ROMS out there. At some point it wasn't slow per se, but it would completely freeze, and then I'd have to soft reset. *IF* it got past the loading screen, it would take me to the initial configuration, as though it had been hard reset. I couldn't make it 48 hours without it doing that. Didn't matter which 6.5 ROM I tried, it always did the same thing.
(shameless plug for Sashimi and Makisu! Lifesavers!)
Tried leaving out the microSD card in case it was bad data - no luck.
Tried not configuring anything - just using it as a phone - in case it was a corrupted CAB or something. Not that either.
At the end, I gave up and I was prepared to take it into the Sprint store. (I bought my phone on Ebay, so no idea what kind of success I would have had, if any.) I flashed back to stock rom, installed my cabs and user settings, etc. and waited for it to happen.
It's been over a week now, absolutely no problems.
Long shory stort: flash back to stock ROM and see how it turns out.
Good luck!
weso has a good point...But
Flash back to stock, hard reset.
Flash your ROM of choosing, hard reset
enjoy new Rom
I find after a couple flashes that I need to flash back to stock hard reset then flash new Rom. After that I tend to have a much more enjoyable experience.
Interesting. I wonder if there's any way to explain that, or if we have to put that in the X-files folder - just one of those things.
I also ALWAYS go into the bootloader manually by rebooting with the reset button and holding power and vol-down. Not sure if it makes a difference or just makes me feel better, but I've had zero issues doing it that way, so that's what I keep doing.
Mightyrom6
Hey out there! Can anyone help with this problem I am having. With the MightyRom 6 on the Touch Pro for Sprint? When Touch Flo is enable and you slide the tab to settings and tap All Settings on the bottom left it will go to Connections Only! It will not go to the All Settings screen. Can anyone help me? I know how to edit the registry but, can't find anything out there. Please Help!
Many believe this happens due to not "flash dancing" (flash then hardreset).
Be wary of doing this with generic stock roms, ive had an experiance in which my prl and qcn files were reset to the generic stock ones of a diffrent provider, which in turn got me to take the phone in and get it carrer flashed again ( NO CARRIER SPECFIC ROMS OR STOCK FOR TBAYTEL!!! . god bless tbay tell lol, but anyways after the initial flash of a rom you like, before you load it with cabs install one at a time to ensure proper installation and compatability with your current rom. Also before you run any freshly installed apps/cabs be sure to soft reset after install.
My method of flashing
Ensure battery is above 80%
Fully synced and connected
Freshly rebooted computer and phone
Update/Flash phone
Hardreset after customize and initial setup
Re-configure customise/etc
soft reset
Good to GO!
Also with every flash there is the posability of it just being a bad flash.
in some cases the freezing and such may be pagepool/Driver issue's with your hardware
My tab is stuck in Factory Mode. I have tried factory resetting it many times. Clean wiping it many times. (ODIN...Recovery) nothing seems to get it out of this mode. Stupid app that looks like the calculator is there to put in codes (Its the 1st pic in the link below)
Pics are in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322816
My Tablet is the P7510 16GB WIFI ONLY model in Canada.
I have tried the factory reset code *2767*3855# that resets the tablet but again its still there.
Can anyone give me the code to get out of this mode.
(Taken from the other posted link above as I have the same problem) I have an app called factory mode that seems to launch some sort of calculator. I am unable to lock the screen at all now. No matter what lock screen setting I try the screen never locks. Pushing the power button powers down the device in an instant. No more popup asking if I want to power down. I've tried a factory reset, but during the reset it's complaining about not having access to some directory. After the factory reset runs its course I'm back to square one. I'm not asked to setup wifi, create an account or anything.
Please I need that code to get out of this mode.
I have tried re flashing the stock 3.1 and 3.2 through recovery and ODIN
Nothing is working for me.
UPDATE:
I returned it to Samsung and got it fixed. Funny thing is that my tablet is now running 3.2 stock Samsung firmware.
I know for fact in Canada we don't have the 3.2 update for the wi-fi tablet. I must say I was impressed with Samsung's support team and the replacement unit I got back in return.
Can anybody help me out with this please!
Did it come in "factory mode" when you bought it?? Never heard of this...
No it wasn't until recently that it has that factory mode app on the home screen after a fresh reset everytime. I called Samsung about it and they said send it in. I hope they just re flash it or give me a new tab 10.1
Does anyone know how to do this? Same thing has happened to me in the UK. Has been sent back to me after repair with the bootloader unlocked and factory mode running.
I really dont want to send it back as ive already done that twice
i dont know what Factory mode is, but my 2 cents are as follows:
Fastboot flash a custom recovery and just flash a stock rom. that's what i would try first. i would imagine that would essentially format the device back to stock.
That's what I have tried. I used CWM then flashed a stock EU and US rom. Still factory mode. Any other ideas?
Can anyone help out on this? Where would this 'Factory Mode' be set? NVFLASH?

is there a solution to this? i have the same problem.
flash newest cwm, restock to nov ver. stock firmware, let it boot then reflash to newest stock, let it boot.
then finally put the overcome 2.1.1
don't forget to wipe all in between install
it should do the trick.... in theory at least... but hey nothin to lose right?

Do you mean flash an old firmware then let it update itself? Then the team overcome custom rom?
i don't think this will work. this "factory mode" is set somewhere "by Samsung" and is not changed whenever we put new rom or kernel or recovery. it seems to me that this happens on very few instances, but all mentioning it was returned that way coming from hardware related repair "from Samsung".
seems to me there are others who have this "unlockable" issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322816
did anybody took some time to seriously think about this? can samsung be the only ones that can remove this factory mode?
Just my overdue update on this thread.
I haven't been to Samsung to have them take off the Factory Mode. I don't think I will be entertained there for this issue.
I flashed the "Galaxy Task 13 Slim" custom ROM, which can be obtained from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340064
The latest version there as of this post is already Galaxy Task 14, but when I attempted it I lost the lock screen again, hence I reverted back to version 13.
Galaxy Task 13 fixes the missing lock screen issue. So far that's the only solution I know, but "factory mode" still remains even after rom installations, so still stuck on that mode. Anyways aside from that icon (which can be removed), no difference. Unless more knowledgeable devs here can say what advantage are to be in "Factory Mode".
Hi friends, i am asking for help regarding my gt-i9100 unit.
This phone was given to me as a gift, and so i happily accepted it. i noticed that it ran
on gingerbread (not sure what version though). after a while i checked for update via wi-fi
and i got a message that a new update is available. so i happily downloaded it.
this is where the problems started.
after downloading the update i got stuck on the loading screen for the update (the white screen with the loading bar in the middle)
but it never progressed after a day (yes i waited that long). after googling about it i found a workaround via the recovery mode. i wiped the cache and did a factory reset.
after that the phone worked fine again.
then i got the message to update again, same thing happened. i tried googleing again and found out about odin and flashing roms.
i'm not an expert so please do comment on what i did.
-turned on the USB debuggin thing.
-downloaded odin.
-downloaded firmware (philippine version as i am fron the philippines) from sammobile.
-powered down the phone, entered recovery mode
-flashed the rom with odin-it said PASS and failed=0 so i think i did nothing wrong.
-after that voila i now have jellybean 4.2.1.
i thought it was fine, until i noticed one thing, the keys (the 3 buttons-home, back, menu) all lit up fine, but didn.t work.
well actually the home button worked, but it now appears to be a back button.
and when my girlfriend called me, i can't hear a thing, although music plays fine.
my girlfriend also told me that she cannot hear me, so i think there' s something wrong there.
i believe this is a software issue, but i'm not an expert.
i want to take it to the samsung center but it is still closed until the end of the holiday center.
also i'm trying my best to keep me from spending cash on this phone (taking it to the service center is my last option).
i have followed similar steps on different threads but to no avail. maybe i'm just doing something wrong.
i need your expert opinions.
any help will be appreciated. thanks guys in advance!
Hi, I need help for my I777... I really don't know what to do.
I have been on Slim Bean for 5 months (previously I had CyanogenMod 9 & 10), but four days ago it started to reboot randomly. At first I didn't pay much attention to these crashes, but then they became more and more frequent, until the free interval was only a few seconds. There were no strange processes active, and even wipe cache / wipe dalvik / fix permissions solved the problem. In the meantime I also noticed that the phone was doing like phantom power button presses, and it did also while I was in CWMR, making it really hard for me to do this things.
I did a full wipe and clean install, but nothing changed.
So I tried to revert back to stock gingerbread with heimdall on my mac, and to flash different official rom versions, either rooted or non rooted... but nothing worked. Countless full wipes, mr Cook wipe script... nothing. The phone even rebooted while it was in download mode and Heimdall was flashing new kernel and rom.
I tried also with odin from a PC. The last firmware I flashed was official UCMD8 Jeally Bean Stock, non rooted, from your download repository, which also had bootloader in it... but nothing.
Reebots are still there. It seems that random presses are gone on Stock Recovery, but maybe it's just a matter of time... while the phone is switched on phantom presses are still there.
I tried everything I know... events seem to be completely random and I can't find any trigger for them. The problem is passing from rom to rom without noticeable changes... I don't know what to do.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you very much... and sorry for the long post, but it's quite difficult to describe such a strange behaviour.
Sounds to me like a faulty power button. There are a few guides on how to repair it yourself, or you can send it in to Mobile Tech Videos and they can fix it for you at a price.
I agree with SteveMurphy, you have described the classic symtoms of a failing power button.
Before attempting a replacement, or sending it off, I do suggest buying/trying a can of contact-cleaner (after completely removing the board from the device). This worked for me us a few months ago, and has reportedly worked for others as well.

I tried this solution, but it didn't work... Tomorrow I'll go to a local repair centre and see if they can do something for me!
Thank you guys
